The Paralysis to Purpose podcast hosted by David Cooks is an incredibly inspiring and uplifting show that features remarkable personal stories from his guests. With each episode, I find myself walking away as a better person, filled with motivation and gratitude. Cooks has a talent for guiding thought-provoking conversations that delve deep into the journey of overcoming obstacles and finding purpose in life. The guests on this podcast are equally compelling and genuine, sharing their own experiences of triumph and growth.

One of the best aspects of this podcast is the host himself, David Cooks. His passion and authenticity shine through in every episode as he navigates conversations with grace and empathy. He doesn't shy away from asking difficult questions or exploring the depths of his guests' struggles. This creates an atmosphere of honesty and vulnerability that allows listeners to truly connect with the stories being shared.

Additionally, the guests on The Paralysis to Purpose are truly remarkable individuals who have overcome immense challenges to find their purpose. Their stories range from physical disabilities to mental health struggles, but they all share a common thread of resilience and determination. It's inspiring to hear how these individuals have not only overcome their own adversities but also used their experiences to make a positive impact on others.

In terms of drawbacks, it can be challenging at times to listen to such emotional stories without feeling overwhelmed. HIS STORY INSPIRED ME.  HIS FAITH ENCOURAGED ME. On November 2, 2011, Vincent Rutley, actor, playwright and musician, survived a near fatal accident that severed his spinal cord. Diagnosed as a paraplegic with traumatic brain damage, the doctors prepared him for the worst by telling him he would never move his arms or legs again.  He viewed this tragedy as an “Assignment” not a “Punishment”. Vincent Rutley comes from a strong family of faith, and has a strong personal relationship with God, so in the doctor's report didn't deter them from expecting the best.  Believing that God would perform a miracle, Vincent began his journey of recovery.   It was a few weeks after his surgery, that the miracles began.  Feeling and slight movement in his right arm, became a full range of motion.  Later, his left arm and wrist became functional. In 2014 Vincent returned to the stage play production “Street Corner “which he wrote, produces and starred in, from his wheelchair.  “Your disability doesn't change the fact that God made you, YOU!  The journey may be 10 times tough, but you can fulfill your wildest dreams.  The car accident didn't paralyze my love for acting.  I didn't lose my love for acting because I use a wheelchair now. Vincent Rutley doesn't deny the reality of the challenges that come with his spinal cord injury, but he refuses to let it dictate the quality of his life. He has learned to lean on his support system, spearheaded by his wife, who he was engaged to at the time of the accident.  His goal is to become the most sought-after quadriplegic actor in the business. Thirteen years after the accident, Vincent Rutley still believes that God will work a miracle and he will walk again.  In the meantime, he is committed to living life to the fullest. He is an unassuming educator who uses hip hop as a conduit for transforming lives. Vernon Thompson devotes his life to working in at-risk environments, serving as the Assistant Principal of the Warren G Harding High School in Connecticut. As a child Vernon watched his father, then pastor of the Eastern Baptist Church, pour his entire being into community service. A stable and nurturing home environment allowed Vernon to recognize the gaps that are missing from his students' lives. This also spurred his pursuit of a Master's Degree in Special Education with a concentration in Learning Disabilities. Vernon's podcast describes the precarious environments his students come from, and how hip hop music opens up communication channels. His unfiltered experiences take listeners to the very heart of gun violence, whilst sharing his heartfelt impact on students' lives. He promotes the important role of father figures in his community, creating a special father's day video that went viral thanks to TD Jakes. Vernon drops many insightful quotes in his interview, including “If all you see is what you don't see, you're not seeing anything at all.
