Sober Motivation It may sound crazy to think about getting geared up for holiday season, but I want you to be prepared so we are starting with some warm and fuzzy motivation. In the midst of all the weight of getting sober, having jobs, raising kids, and being high-functioning... it can be exhausting to stay excited about this self-help journey. And knowing there is plenty of stress for everyone, I want you to take a minute to breathe, and think about all the rewards for the hard work you are doing. It's so easy to look at the road ahead and get focused on how far we have to go. It is a road with no end, by the way, our work is never finished. At the same time, focus also on how far you've come. I went back in the archives of Addiction Unlimited and pulled some clips from some of my favorite guests to put together an episode that is laser focused on the beauty of transformation and all the rewards that come with having a clear mind and a vision for the future. Allyson Kane, Russ Perry, Omar Pinto, Mark Crandall, Emily Paulson, Chris Hill, and our very own 6 week program alum, Amorie. They all shared their stories with us on the podcast and I want you to hear the blessings and gratitude that recovery brings. These are all high-functioning, educated, entrepreneurs and self-starters, just like all my clients, and they have taken full advantage of the gifts of sobriety. As we move into the most demanding season of the year, I want you to have a fresh perspective and renewed energy moving forward. We'll do a series of episodes on getting through the holidays and, as you know, mindset is where it all starts. So get your ear buds ready, start your workout or curl up in your quiet space, and let's energize your mindset with the gifts of transformation. What do you want to create in life? If you could pick one thing to do for the rest of your life, what would it be? Who would you like to become?    This week, I am talking with Nat Bruno about the two main lessons I've learned from him since the start of my entrepreneurial journey nearly six years ago. Nat has since guided me down the entrepreneurial path by sharing incredible resources and insight from his own experiences. And I want to do the same for you.    Your dreams of traveling the world with your significant other or ensuring a spot at your child's championship game while your business runs itself don't have to be in vain. If you could do, create, or become anything in this world, what would it be, and what do you have to change to make them happen? What is preventing you from living the life of your dreams and achieving your biggest goals?   Topics Discussed: Why your number ONE business consultant is Google Understanding that cashflow is KING in business The greatest misconceptions behind entrepreneurship How to analyze your limiting beliefs and let go of fear   Ready to stop working for your business and have your business start working for you? To gain access to resources I've created for you and learn how to work with me and my marketing team to grow and scale your business, visit www.markcrandall.net   Quotes:   Mark Crandall   “You don't have anything if you don't have cash flow." "There's always a way through in business." “Anything and everything is possible. Six years ago, I never would have thought I'd have multiple multi-million companies that I'd scale myself out of and be helping other entrepreneurs scale out of their own businesses.” Nat Bruno "Focus on one thing and say no to everything else. Make "no" your default answer." "Put all of your energy and all of your focus into one thing starting out."

What do your calls currently look like? What does your schedule currently look like? If you were to look over the last month of networking calls, Zoom meetups, and “get to know you” follow-ups, what would they look like to you? Truth is, many individuals are bound to their calendars and taking calls they don't actually want to be taking.   Lesson #14 of what I have learned in entrepreneurship over the years is this: Stop showing up for the “Takers”, your calendar opens us to serve the “Givers”! How many calls and meetups from your calendar actually moved the needle for you and your business? When was the last time you truly connected with someone else over the phone and not because they were trying to sell you something?    This lesson has been a tough one to learn and one that I have had to learn time after time. Don't make the same mistakes I've made. Stop penciling every hour of every day to calls that don't serve you or your business. Unless you truly value the relationships you have already cultivated online, it's not worth it to show up for the “takers”. Instead, use your time wisely for those who give with our expectations on the other end.  Topics Discussed: The importance of implementing healthy boundaries in your calendar Creating the space to evaluate the lessons learned in entrepreneurship  Why I'm pursuing the entrepreneurship journey  What happens when we lead with our insecurities & overdeliver our value The dangers in showing your poker face in business Learning to give without expectations and selfish motives   Gain access to resources and/or work with Mark or his marketing team direct visit: www.markcrandall.net   --- Quotes:   Mark Crandall   “Many people may show up as heart-centered and giving. But when the rubber meets the road, whether you interview them, bring them into your mastermind, or partner with them, they get what they want, and then they're gone.” “Have these individuals matched the value that you're giving out? Have they brought you something in return or moved the needle for you in business? It may sound like a selfish evaluation but it's something that you have to do.” “How do I show up in a way that I bring value but that I don't overdeliver from a place of seeking to compensate my own insecurities?”  “Everybody, especially those in business and in the online space, wants something. They're not just building relationships because they want more relationships. Sure, they may want to build relationships but there's something else that they want to gain from these relationships as well.”

They spend way more time on their logo and business name then they do building relationships.” “There is no definition for success outside of spiritual practices without comparing yourself to somebody else.” Natalie Jill “What we believe is our truth, always. So whatever you believe, you're right.”  “Most people that have not achieved a goal that they think they want is because of their beliefs around them” “It has to make sense for my audience”  “If it doesn't end up making sense for me, financially, timewise, or funwise, then I don't want it anymore. If it doesn't light me up and brings added stress to my life, it doesn't matter how much money it brings in if I'm not happy.”

I believe that I can do more good with my money than the Government can.” Sarah Jones “If you are not doing your own books, if they aren't being done correctly, or if you're just taking in receipts and are very unorganized at the end of the year, you are literally costing yourself thousands of dollars.” “My top tip for anybody when it relates to money and growing their business is to get clarity. Go and figure out what your mission is, why you're here, and what you want to give to the world.” “I made the most mistakes in my business when I ventured into things that didn't align with what was important to me.  “You need to have a set of core values of what you're going to operate on.” “If a business opportunity came to our business, it is first filtered through our core values and our mission statement. If it doesn't align, we don't take it on.” “When I got clear on my goals, I grew exponentially. Our company is laser-focused on what we're bringing to the market and how we're impacting our clients. But their funnel sucks and it's not working no matter how much money they put behind it because they're not bringing the value on the front end.” “The more value I bring clients, the higher the conversion rate.” “In my experience, you can't convince somebody of the power of digital marketing.” “The world is sick of hard selling. They want authentic relationships.” “Authentic relationships make the sales.” “Hard Selling doesn't work because it causes a lot of frustration on the backend based on the feeling of being pressured into a decision that they didn't want to make.” Aleric Heck “You need to make sure that you are putting yourself forward and that people trust you. You need to connect with people and share your story.” “The biggest mistake people make is that they don't provide value or trust behind their product or service.” “The best thing that can happen is that people come to a decision on their own because then they are all in. They're actually excited about implementing and taking action.”

Most American high schoolers do exchange programs in places like France, or Spain, or maybe Japan. Mark Crandall went to Zimbabwe, a small country in southern Africa that didn't technically exist just a few years earlier. What he experienced there-- a way of living known as "Ubuntu"-- set the course of his life's work from that moment until today. Mark's organization, Hoops4Hope operates in Zimbabwe and South Africa, using sports, most specifically basketball, to teach responsibility, accountability, mentorship and citizenship in a culture where such lessons aren't always easy to come by. Now celebrating 25 years, Hoops4Hope still brings these lessons to countless children in Africa, who usually play without shoes, and often without even a ball, as well as to children in local schools and in his local summer camp, East Hampton Sports Camp. Listen in as Mark tells the story of how it all came about, what challenges is presently faces, and where he hopes the future will take the program.

This is the final episode of the show! After 128 episodes, I have decided to practice that I preach, and make the tough call on priorities and pressures in my life, which means this show will be setting with the sun today. Whether that's forever or for now is not relevant because "forever" is not happening today. With all the demands on my time, I have been facing my own burnout – something I've had as a central theme in many episodes in this show. To protect and love myself, I've taken an inventory of all the things that I am committed to, where they are in the grand scheme of building toward my goals, whether they've served their purpose, and how I might be able to move forward without them. Though it was a hard decision I've grappled with for several months, ending the show here made a lot of sense. Do a Day is not going anywhere, however, with all the resources at your fingertips, as ever. You can still get the book in paperback, Kindle, Audible, Apple Books, Google Play Books, Nook and more. You can still do the Do a Day Masterclass, or sign up for 1-on-1 coaching with me. And the entire back catalog of episodes of the show will still be available for you to go back, listen to, and grow from. With all the stories and inspiration in the 127 episodes that I've released before this final one, I know there is at least one spark that every person in the world could use to start the flame that lets you Go Out and Do It! Respect for all my past guests: Season 1 I kicked the show off sharing the story of Do a Day. Charlie Gilkey shares about how being smart makes you strong. Evan Ruggiero reminds us through his cancer batter that rising up even when half of your world vanishes is possible. Amy Schuber taught us that you are the inspiration you seek. Dorie Clark reminds us of the important of perseverance and consistency if we want to achieve our greatest goals. Sonya Looney, world female mountain bike endurance champion, was just awesome, but had a key message around vulnerability and honesty with ourselves. She also gave me another gem of an idea around being stuck. Rather than being negative about the feeling, she recognizes it's a sign of something big being about to happen. Tim Fargo talked about the humility and balance we can find in unexpected places like failure. The amazing Dr. Jason Brooks shared the importance of being dedicated to finding your purpose and its transformative power on our lives. Sometimes trials can lead to our greatest triumphs. What may seem like a holding pattern may just be the road to your success. After weeks of feeling stressed out and pulled into different directions, I have finally found an inner peace that has led to making some powerful decisions in my business. If you feel a huge shift coming to your business and your personal life, then you are not alone. In today’s episode, I am sharing the best piece of advice that my mentor recently spoke into me that shifted my focus for Purpose Chasers. As I’ve realized the different stipulations I was putting on myself, I had been really stressed and felt stretched thin. COVID-19 has taught us a lot of things but one thing that I’ve really pressed into lately is that this has been a huge blessing for me to go inward and do the necessary groundwork. And I can’t wait to share this new season with you.    Purpose Chasers, are you ready to level? Because the time is NOW to step into our greatest callings. When you hear the word “sales”, where does your mind automatically go? Maybe you’ve been thrown sales pitch after sales pitch only to feel bombarded with having to oblige someone else’s dream. Or maybe you’ve been burned by sales calls that didn’t fully deliver what was promised to you. For many of us, the term sounds icky and dirty and can carry a lot of baggage. But it doesn’t have to.    In today’s episode, I am sharing why I created the 6 Steps to a No-Sell Close and how you can lead with an opportunity for individuals to chase after whatever it is that they are called to do. The truth is, there are a lot of people out there who deliver false promises and cause a lot of turmoil in the long run. Every human wants to live their life at their maximum potential. However, the resistance comes from the stories that they have created in their heads surrounding the idea of how difficult that will actually be. As a result, they never end up completing their maximum potential because they often talk themselves out of chasing their greatest potential. They know what’s waiting for them on the other side but they never actually reach that point.    However, this week, I am shutting down the false narrative that you can’t chase after your maximum potential. Through your consistent actions, there are rewards waiting on the other side for you. It’s time you stop creating stories in your mind around the idea that you can’t have what it is that you are set to do. Life isn’t always easy but there is always a way through the difficult times. Once we are able to see opportunity through adversity, then we are able to tap into our greatest potential.   Topics Discussed: - Dealing with the resistance of difficulty - Committing to the journey of disproving the stories in our minds - How I went from getting no bookings for speaking gigs to turning down multiple speaking gigs - Destroying the false narrative that you can’t chase after your calling Connect with Mark Crandall Join the exclusive Purpose Chasers ® Facebook group for unreleased content, interviews, live coaching, not to mention the epic community supporting, encouraging, and challenging each other to fulfill their dreams.  https://www.facebook.com/groups/thePurposechasers/ Why should you join? Are you tired of allowing other people to make decisions for you? Do you often feel pressured by your environment to choose to take action? Maybe you feel pressured by society to opt for a specific career path that you’re not passionate about. Or maybe you have allowed your family to dictate what makes YOU happy in life. The truth is, though, oftentimes we don’t give ourselves enough credit for taking action. Sure, there are outside influences that can be the vehicle in which you get to your destination, but ultimately the choice is yours.    This week, I am sharing with you the three-step-process to never be pressured or persuaded in your decision making again. My wish with this episode is that you start taking ownership of your life and start implementing your power of choice. Other people can’t live your life for you so it’s time to stop allowing them the freedom to make decisions for you. It’s time to breathe life and catch fire to what it is that you have been called to fulfill.    Topics Discussed: How to align yourself with your core values The three-step-process to never be pressured again Why taking ownership over your life is a powerful strength Why you should be 100% committed to your goals and dreams    Connect with Mark Crandall Join the exclusive Purpose Chasers ® Facebook group for unreleased content, interviews, live coaching, not to mention the epic community supporting, encouraging, and challenging each other to fulfill their dreams.  https://www.facebook.com/groups/thePurposechasers/ Why should you join? Mark is a podcaster, author, community builder, and entrepreneur. He is the founder of Purpose Chasers Community and Academy, and he co-founded the Purpose & Movement Mastermind. He wrote the book entitled Embrace Your Past Win Your Future. He was a former therapist but left his job and started speaking. That led him to create his own podcast and named it Purpose Chasers. The theme of his podcast is to highlight his dark past to help people struggling in their life overcome their darkness too. He wants his listeners to discover their purpose in life and have the drive to chase it. In this episode, they have tackled building deeper relationships in his online community. “When I’m approaching relationships… I’m seeking to build relationships. I’m focused on building value first.” What he means by seeking to build relationships is by still getting in touch with his clients even after the podcast episode. This is how he will build value and eventually nurtures the relationship he creates with them. “I would much rather have five deep connections than 500 people that have seen my brand, but they don’t really care about my work.” For Mark, he added that numbers are not important rather he believes that it is essential to build a deep authentic relationship with the people around you. With this, he found that his business got more prosperous and his life grew abundantly. “It’s not the money that makes or defines the man or the woman. It’s how the money is made that defines the man or the woman.” Mark wonderfully discussed how a person must be defined in relation to his/her treasures. This is not about the amount a person has made but instead, on the ways and process on how he/she earned the money. Before building relationships, of course, you must know the person first and his/her stand in life. Find people who are really heart-centered and that’s how you’ll make your relationship nurture. Mark has been amazing with his discussion and has given us new learnings. We must not only entertain our audience but also, we need to create deep connections with them and treat them as a family. In this interview, Mark shared his tips on how to build authentic relationships with your online community, treating them as your family. Did you know that many of our decisions are operated out of fear? What opportunities we say yes to and others we say no to typically depend on how we allow outside forces to influence our decisions. But whether you recognize those fears or not, you are still the only person that is in control over your life. It is important that we start giving credit where credit is due. You are in control. Don’t let what happens to you decide what you do with the circumstances that you have been given.    This week on Purpose Chasers, as promised I am sharing part two of the power of choice. Specifically, I am talking about the victim’s response to choice and how people make decisions out of fear. I am sharing with you what leads to decision making, or lack thereof, and how we can show up in our own lives. Ultimately, nobody can make the decision for us. Oftentimes we give outside influences too much credit for our decisions. But, remember, you have the power to choose the life that you want to live. Don’t allow outside influences to dictate how you show up for yourself.    Topics Discussed: Recognizing pressure and persuasion as self-limiting beliefs  Why saying yes to everyone is operating out of a scarcity mindset The difference between extending gratitude and taking credit for your actions How God, the Universe, Therapy, and Coaches can only carry you so far ---    Connect with Mark Crandall   Join the exclusive Purpose Chasers ® Facebook group for unreleased content, interviews, live coaching, not to mention the epic community supporting, encouraging, and challenging each other to fulfill their dreams.  https://www.facebook.com/groups/thePurposechasers/ Why should you join? Have you ever wondered why so many people drop out of coaching courses? Or maybe you’ve asked yourself why people stop showing up for themselves in the middle of transformational masterminds? It’s not the lack of resources that stops people from achieving their goals. Want to know the real reason why people give up? They allow their self-limiting beliefs to dictate their actions. -   This week, I am talking with Master Coach, Founder of My Recovery Toolkit, and host of the Addiction Unlimited podcast, Angela Pugh. We are discussing how commitment is the difference between those who give up half-way and those who achieve their goals. Angela shares with us her own self-limiting beliefs and how she has continued to invest in herself to ensure success in her own life. Purpose Chasers, get ready as we dive into what it truly means to invest in yourself. What if you didn’t have to live a life that someone else chose for you? Don’t like your current career choices? Aren’t happy with where you’re currently at in life? The truth is, you have the complete power to decide right this very moment how the trajectory of the rest of your life is going to look like. While we all have the power of choice, many individuals only want someone else to make their decisions for them.    This week, I am sharing the incredible power of choice and why we are capable of saying no. Let’s face it, not every opportunity is a great opportunity. Sometimes we have to say no to things that aren’t in our best interest. However, many of us get stuck in a routine that we feel like we have to make decisions in order to make other people happy. But what if I told you that you can, in fact, take back ownership over your life right this very moment? How would you choose to live the rest of your life?   Topics Discussed: Why people make the wrong decisions in their life How to take ownership over your own life choices Why you shouldn’t give people the opportunity to choose for you The power in saying no to things that don’t serve you ---    Connect with Mark Crandall   Join the exclusive Purpose Chasers ® Facebook group for unreleased content, interviews, live coaching, not to mention the epic community supporting, encouraging, and challenging each other to fulfill their dreams.  https://www.facebook.com/groups/thePurposechasers/ Why should you join? Do you know what your true purpose in life really is? Have you ever felt like your purpose has shifted over time? The truth is, most individuals *think* they have an idea of what they were called to do. However, very few individuals have actually stepped into their calling. Everyone wants a purpose, but how many people actually find it?   This week, I am sharing with you why you will never find your purpose by chasing a specific destination point. Many times we think that we will find our purpose if we could just hit a specific following or once we accomplish our goals, that’s when we’ve made it. We view success and purpose through a filter of self-limiting beliefs. However, what if I told you that it’s less about a destination and more about a transformational journey?    Topics Discussed: Shifting away from the idea that purpose is a physical location Identifying self-limiting beliefs that are holding you back  How to take actionable steps that help guide you into finding your true purpose ---    Connect with Mark Crandall   Join the exclusive Purpose Chasers ® Facebook group for unreleased content, interviews, live coaching, not to mention the epic community supporting, encouraging, and challenging each other to fulfill their dreams.  https://www.facebook.com/groups/thePurposechasers/ Why should you join? If I were to ask you who the top 5 people are in your circle, would you be satisfied with the names you’ve written down? They say you are the average of your immediate sphere of influence so if this is true, then what does this say about your current level of success? Does your current situation line up with you want to be in this world? Odds are, we aren’t allowing ourselves to be uncomfortable enough to take action towards our goals.    This week, I am talking with spirited boss babe, serial entrepreneur, keynote speaker, life + business strategist, and best-selling author, Cathy Christen. We talk about a wide range of topics spanning from identifying what brings us joy to taking ownership of our lives. Cathy shares with us the definitive moment that changed the course of how she was able to pursue her dreams. The truth is, we don’t always get to choose what happens to us, but we always have the choice of how we learn and grow from those life lessons. Is the story you’re currently telling yourself allowing you the access to truly step into transformation? Is there a lie you’re currently believing about yourself that is hindering your growth? Often times, what we really need in order to grow is a mental shift in the right direction. If you are feeling even the slightest bit of resistance towards your goals, you may be allowing your thought life to dictate how you take action.   This week, I am sharing with you the two phrases that have hindered more personal development growth and transformational growth in my life than anything else. In order to have a true transformation, we must first realize that we have the potential to take action. How many times do you answer an opportunity with the phrase: “I’ll think about it”? Odds are, for most of us, this is our go-to answer when faced with a decision that we don’t want to make. Even if it’s something we think would be beneficial for us, we often use the phrase “I’ll think about it” as an exit strategy to withhold making an executive decision for as long as possible. Maybe it’s something we don’t want to do but we don’t want to hurt someone else’s feelings. Or maybe it’s something we would like to do but we have a lot of self-limiting beliefs holding us back.    This week, I am sharing with you my strategy on how to shift our mindset from “thinking” to “doing”. If I’m being honest, I have had to stop myself in the past from using this phrase because I wasn’t quite ready to make a decision. However, with my 3-step process, I will be able to help you define what exactly it is that you want for your life and how to know if you’re on the right track.
