On Healthy Mind, Healthy Life, host Avik Chakraborty sits down with Dr. Samuel Jones, Ph.D., CSP—award-winning keynote speaker and author of Momentum Mindset: How to Turn Setbacks into Success. We unpack practical strategies to move from overwhelm to action: the Pyramid of Possibilities to locate yourself, the Three Time Zones to mine lessons (not excuses) from your past, and the clarity trifecta—purpose, priorities, and pace—to build repeatable momentum without burnout. If you lead a team, run a business, or you're simply stuck, this episode shows you how to reframe honestly, separate identity from results, and bounce forward with a system of adaptive thinking, aligning, and doing. About the guest : Dr. Samuel Jones, Ph.D., CSP is a keynote speaker, leadership coach, and author of Momentum Mindset. He helps leaders and teams convert adversity into advantage through systems that build clarity, confidence, and repeatable progress. Key takeaways: Locate before you launch: Use the Pyramid of Possibilities to identify where you're believing myths versus truth so change starts from awareness. Measure momentum in days, not months: Build confidence with small repeatable actions; moments compound into momentum. Reframe without denial: The Three Time Zones model turns past pain into present power by extracting lessons (not blame). Ask better questions: “What does this moment require of me?” moves you from reaction to ownership. Clarity = purpose + priorities + pace: Right-size your speed to preserve capacity and produce results that matter. Build a thinking system: Shift to adaptive thinking → adaptive aligning → adaptive doing to keep evolving. Separate identity from outcomes: Results reflect inputs and alignment, not your worth; reconnect identity to purpose and values. Bounce forward after setbacks: Call a timeout, take stock, audit resourcing, and redesign inputs before the next move. Scale by pruning: “Scale back to scale up”—remove scatter, focus on what truly matters, then expand. Momentum loves witnesses: Share one win daily to reinforce progress and accountability. Today, we are thrilled to welcome back Dr. Devin Duval, OD, FCOVD. Dr. Duval is an optometrist with advanced residency training in pediatrics, vision therapy, and vision rehabilitation. He is a Fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (FCOVD) and a member of the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association (NORA). As an associate professor at Rocky Mountain University and one of only a few optometrists in Utah with this specific expertise, he specializes in helping patients with post-concussion vision problems, strabismus, and other complex visual conditions. In this episode, Dr. Devin Duval returns to the Concussion Coach Podcast for an in-depth discussion on Syntonics and other vision-related aspects of concussion recovery. What is Syntonics? Dr. Duval explains that Syntonics is the application of selective light frequencies to the eyes to treat various vision conditions. It works by balancing the autonomic nervous system, helping patients move out of a chronic "fight or flight" (sympathetic) state and into a "rest and digest" (parasympathetic) state. How It Works: Patients are tested to determine the specific colored filters they need. They then use these prescribed glasses for about 20 minutes a day, looking at a full-spectrum light source like the sky. Treatment typically lasts 1-2 months.Syntonics vs. Other Colored Glasses: Dr. Duval distinguishes between "band-aid" colored glasses for symptom relief (like FL-41 for migraines) and Syntonic glasses, which are a targeted treatment intended to fix the underlying problem.Practical Tips for Listeners:Expanding Visual Fields: Go for walks in open spaces and consciously pay attention to your peripheral vision.Screen Use & Blue Light: The 20-20-20 rule (every 20 minutes, look 20 feet away for 20 seconds) is crucial. Blue light filters are generally recommended for concussion patients, but quality varies.Computer Work: Reduce visual clutter, avoid fluorescent lighting, and consider a "flicker-free" monitor. High-resolution 4K monitors can sometimes be overstimulating.Finding Help: Dr. Duval emphasizes that many "untreatable" visual problems are treatable with the right specialist. He encourages listeners to seek out a qualified professional. The episode is a powerful reminder that there is hope and help available for persistent post-concussion visual symptoms.Resources MentionedTo Find a Syntonics or Vision Therapy Provider:College of Syntonic Optometry: Find a doctor trained in Syntonics on their website. https://csovision.org/find-a-practitioner/COVD (College of Optometrists in Vision Development): Use the "Locate a Doctor" feature on covd.org and click the button to find a board-certified vision therapy specialist. Many (but not all) also practice Syntonics.General Concussion & Vision Resources:Dr. Duval's Practice: Dr. Duval sees patients in-person and offers intensive programs. He also conducts remote consultations for patients outside of Utah. https://www.newsightvt.com/The Concussion Coach Program: Bethany's coaching program for those struggling with lingering concussion symptoms. What if the limits you see in your life aren't real — but learned? In Part 2 of Clearing Limiting Beliefs & Reprogramming the Subconscious Mind, Dr. David Snyder takes you deeper into the science and psychology behind how your subconscious shapes your emotions, relationships, and reality. He reveals how childhood experiences, emotional imprints, and stored memories silently influence your daily decisions — and how to finally break free.Through practical demonstrations and guided insights, Dr. Snyder shows you how to retrain your subconscious mind to respond differently to triggers, transform negative self-talk, and replace outdated beliefs with empowering truths. If you've ever felt like your conscious mind says one thing but your body feels another, this episode will help you realign both so real transformation can begin.Quotes:“If you can point to where you feel it, you can access it, and you can begin the process of change in a measurable way.”“Irrational problems require irrational solutions.”“The memories you're running around with aren't even accurate. They're not even true representations of what actually happened, and every time you recall them, they change again.”Actionable TakeawaysObserve your internal dialogue. Notice how often your thoughts reinforce limitation. Replace “I can't” with “What would it look like if I could?”Locate the emotional charge. When an issue arises, pay attention to where it shows up in your body — that's where subconscious data is stored.Reprogram through repetition. Consistency is key; speak new affirmations and visualizations daily until they feel natural.Release through movement. Use physical gestures or breathing to symbolically release negative energy tied to past experiences.Anchor new beliefs. Create a physical cue (like touching your chest or taking a deep breath) to anchor feelings of confidence and calm whenever self-doubt appears.Episode Timeline:0:00:26 — Unpacking Emotional Triggers: The Somatic Search Engine 0:02:10 — Recognizing Shutdown Responses & Physical Sensations 0:03:09 — Assigning New Meaning: Reframing "Away From" Emotions 0:06:21 — Resolving Trauma Without Conscious Awareness 0:10:17 — Scope of Practice: Using Techniques with Mental Illness 0:13:36 — Kinesthetic and Somatic Approaches to Emotional Release 0:20:10 — Visualization Exercise: Using Color, Spin, and Senses 0:27:25 — The Question Is the Solution: Probing with the Somatic Search Engine 0:31:33 — Addressing Deeper Issues and Secondary Gains 0:35:21 — Dialoguing with the Unconscious Mind 0:43:18 — Revising the Past: The Nature and Power of Memory 0:46:09 — The Magic Frame Technique: Guided Emotional Reprocessing 0:51:30 — Processing Change and Debrief 0:54:15 — The Emotional Component of Physical Pain 0:55:23 — Clinical Applications & Exploring Old Patterns 0:56:21 — The Unconscious Mind and Lasting Change 0:59:56 — Preserving Lessons, Letting Go, and Ending the SessionLinks:To learn more about Dr. David Snyder and everything about NLP, visit:Website: https://www.nlppower.com/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@DavidSnyderNLPInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/davidsnydernlp

Genetic genealogy is a field that combines traditional genealogy research with modern DNA testing techniques to trace familial relationships and ancestry through genetic information. It involves analyzing an individual's DNA to uncover their genetic heritage, connect with distant relatives, and map out family trees. This approach has gained significant popularity due to advancements in DNA sequencing technology, particularly in the form of direct-to-consumer DNA testing kits. Here's how genetic genealogy works and how it's used by investigators:DNA Testing: Individuals interested in exploring their genetic heritage and family history can submit their DNA samples through services provided by companies like AncestryDNA, 23andMe, and MyHeritageDNA. These companies analyze specific segments of the submitted DNA to identify genetic markers that are common among different populations and individuals.Genetic Markers: Certain sections of the DNA, particularly those found in the Y chromosome (passed from father to son) and the mitochondrial DNA (passed from mother to all offspring), contain genetic markers that can be used to identify ancestral lineages. Autosomal DNA, which is inherited from both parents, is also examined to find matches with other individuals in the testing company's database.Matching and Comparison: Testing companies compare an individual's genetic markers with those of other users in their databases. If two individuals share a significant amount of genetic material, they are considered genetic matches. The more segments of DNA they share, the closer their relationship is likely to be.Building Family Trees: Genetic genealogy involves constructing family trees using a combination of traditional genealogical research and the information gained from DNA matches. By connecting with other users who share segments of DNA, individuals can extend their family trees and discover new branches of their lineage.Identifying Common Ancestors: As more people participate in DNA testing, the chances of finding common ancestors increase. Overlapping segments of shared DNA can help identify specific ancestors or ancestral groups that are shared among related individuals.Forensic and Investigative Applications: Genetic genealogy has also found applications in criminal investigations. Law enforcement agencies have used DNA databases to identify unknown perpetrators of crimes like murder and sexual assault. In cases where traditional investigative methods have been unsuccessful, investigators can upload DNA profiles from crime scenes to genealogy databases and identify potential relatives of the suspect based on shared genetic markers.Building Family Trees for Identification: Once potential relatives of the suspect are identified, investigators work to build family trees using genealogical records, such as birth certificates, marriage records, and obituaries. By tracing the shared ancestry of these relatives, law enforcement can narrow down the list of potential suspects to a smaller pool.Narrowing Down Suspects: Investigative genetic genealogy can help law enforcement focus on specific individuals who fit the profile of the unknown suspect based on age, location, and other relevant factors. This process has led to the successful identification and capture of suspects in several high-profile cases.Bryan Kohberger was tracked down by authorities using genealogy according to sources. While the process is not even admissable in court, it is an important tool for investigators who are trying to solve complex cases. In this episode, we hear from one of the industry leaders in the field of genealogy who is discussing how the process works and what goes into an operation such as this.(commercial at 12:11)to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:How Idaho cops used genetic genealogy to trace suspect Bryan Kohberger's distant relatives | Daily Mail OnlineBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-moscow-murders-and-more--5852883/support.
Late last month, I pulled up to a field site at first light to start a long day of turkey habitat surveys. My work as a wildlife research technician takes me to both public and private land, but this site happened to be on one of my favorite wildlife areas: a lakeside section with forested draws and fields of native tallgrass. I slowed my truck to a crawl so I could scan the fields for a reddish-brown back or a tail flicking. I usually spot a doe...

Justin Melanson, with Avio industries, calls in to talk about how he found a missing boy using his drone!
We live in a culture that often celebrates the ‘perfect' relationship but does little to prepare us for the reality of long-term commitment. Modern life is filled with idealised images of love and marriage – but the truth, as this week's returning guest suggests, is far more human, messy and ultimately hopeful. I'm delighted to welcome Alain de Botton back to the podcast. Alain is an author, internationally acclaimed philosopher and founder of The School of Life, a hugely popular education and wellness organisation that provides guidance on how to achieve happiness and fulfilment. His latest book, ‘From Trauma to Healing: How to Locate, Process and Recover From Psychological Wounds' helps us understand what trauma is, how it affects us and what we can do about it. During this incredible conversation, we discuss: Why the idea that we will “marry the right person” sets us up for disappointment How our childhood experiences shape who we're drawn to as adults The hidden cost of perfectionism in relationships The cultural myths about soulmates, instant understanding and effortless romance, and how these ideas can undermine lasting love How unprocessed trauma can resurface in our closest relationships, and why learning to communicate our needs is an essential skill The surprising role that distance, independence and time apart can play in sustaining desire and intimacy There's something deeply reassuring in knowing that love doesn't have to look like the stories we grew up with. And by letting go of these cultural myths and by embracing each other's flaws, we improve not only our relationships, but also how happy and contented we feel. I hope you enjoy listening. This episode focuses on the critical importance of having a backup plan, not just for technical redundancies but especially for situations involving human error, which are highly prevalent in one's career. The core argument hinges on understanding risk and reward curves, highlighting the disproportionate impact of failures compared to incremental successes.Understanding Risk and Reward Curves:Successes are often incremental. Delivering a project on time typically leads to opportunities for more projects, good performance reviews, and modest pay increases (e.g., 5-7%). These are positive, but linear or slightly bumpy gains.Failures, especially uncaught ones, have a much longer negative tail. The potential for loss from a significant mistake or a disastrous project significantly outweighs the potential for gain from a success.A bad performance review, for example, can affect future reviews, decrease promotion likelihood, and follow you for a much longer period than a good one.Uncaught failures can place individuals in a pool for budget cuts or layoffs, leading to catastrophic curves where negative effects compound much faster, resembling a logarithmic function. One or two significant negative events could wipe out all accumulated incremental gains. The Criticality of Backup Plans:Backup plans are essential to avoid these catastrophic negative curves and major "wipeout scenarios".This preparedness applies to project failures, personal career contingencies (e.g., getting laid off), and even events beyond direct control. It's crucial to prepare for theoretically possible catastrophic events, not just those that have historically occurred. Even "Black Swan" events or things you're not prepared for can cause major issues.Thinking like this (e.g., similar to life insurance, which you only need once if at all) encourages hedging efforts with basic backup plans, such as redundancy.Benefits of Preparedness:The more you prepare for contingencies, the more likely you can deal with the majority of failures, preventing the catastrophic curve.Having backup plans can create a "flywheel effect", where your ability to respond to negative events actually increases the speed of stacking up further positive outcomes.Being proactive in your career (e.g., interviewing even when you're happy in your current role) builds resiliency.Actionable Advice:Focus on what could go wrong: Try to figure out how things could fail and what catastrophic events are possible, even if they haven't happened yet.Identify vulnerabilities: Locate areas where a catastrophe could lead to a steep drop-off in your career trajectory.Implement a basic backup plan: The recommendation is to put just one in place this week for something that could catastrophically impact your career. This provides a sense of relief and ensures readiness if needed. Taking this first step is likely to encourage creating more backup plans for professional situations.

Tinnitus—internal high-frequency sounds—can stem from neck tension. When neck muscles or shoulders compress arteries leading to your inner ear, it may trigger or worsen ringing. Test if it's neck-related:Stretch your neck. If the sound changes, your tinnitus is likely linked to tension.Notice if symptoms fade when relaxed or in certain positions.Alone when you repeat again and again, every day many times these Affirmations: Every day, my tinnitus is getting less and less.Every day, I ignore my Tinnitus more and more. Then the tinnitus is getting less. Don't worry but accept your tinnitus, otherwise the tinnitus will get worse. 6-Step Routine (Do 2x Daily)1. In this episode, we hear from one of the industry leaders in the field of genealogy who is discussing how the process works and what goes into an operation such as this.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:How Idaho cops used genetic genealogy to trace suspect Bryan Kohberger's distant relatives | Daily Mail OnlineBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-moscow-murders-and-more--5852883/support.
AUG. 13, 2025Have you been wounded in church? (1)"I will build my church." Mt 16:18Being hurt by another Christian can be devastating, but the church is filled with imperfect people who do things they shouldn't. As C. S. Lewis said, "God works on us in all sorts of ways...above all he works on us through each other." So before you give up and walk away, consider these suggestions:(1) Admit how much it hurt, and start to cope with it. Running away doesn't achieve this. Humbly approach the person who hurt you, motivated to reconcile. Discuss your pain with the purpose of releasing it and moving on. (2) Ask, "What's my role in this?" If it had nothing to do with you, as in the case of a trusted leader who has fallen morally or legally, ask yourself if you put idealistic expectations on their humanness. Did you think they were perfect? Now that you realize they're not, can you forgive them? (3) Ask God what to do next. He knows the motives in the hearts of the people involved. Give Him time to answer.(4) "Guard your heart...for it determines the course of your life" (Pr 4:23 NLT). Choose to follow God, even when your heart breaks. He alone can decide motives and intents, and He is just and reasonable. But many times, our faithfulness must come first before His blessings flow. (5) If you still feel you must leave, promise yourself and God that you will leave well. Refuse to say anything bad. Don't leave mad, and admit the good, no matter how small. Most important of all, don't quit. God is good, His church is good, and people are flawed. Locate another house of worship, and commit to it with an open heart.Have you been wounded in church?Follow God, even when your heart breaks.Share This DevotionalSend us a textSupport the showChanging Lives | Building Strong Family | Impacting Our Community For Jesus Christ!
Send us a textMarriages don't break overnight, and they aren't restored in a day either. In this raw and revealing conversation, Ken and Tabatha share the five transformative keys that saved their once-broken relationship and built the foundation for their marriage journey."Locate where you are" begins their practical framework—because you can't navigate to Macy's without first finding the "You Are Here" dot on the mall directory. This honest self-assessment creates the starting point for genuine change. From there, the couple dismantles the myth that you should "work on yourself first" before addressing your marriage, showing how personal growth and relationship building must happen simultaneously. The conversation takes a powerful turn when Tabitha reveals her "jujitsu approach" to winning Ken's heart during their darkest season. Rather than matching his distance with her own withdrawal, she chose selfless love—preparing meals he wouldn't eat, showing affection he initially rejected—until her consistent kindness broke through his defenses in ways confrontation never could. You'll hear their passionate plea to remove "divorce" from your vocabulary, including the moving story of a couple who literally cut the word from their family dictionary during their wedding ceremony. And finally, they share the cornerstone of their restoration: putting God at the center of everything.Whether you're fighting to save a troubled marriage or seeking to strengthen a good one, these battle-tested principles offer both hope and practical pathways forward. As Ken and Tabatha remind us, sometimes the greatest victories come when we fight not with our flesh, but with our faith.GET THE BETTER MARRIAGE BOOTCAMP HERE:Better Marriage Bootcamp (kenandtabatha.com)Better Marriage 90-Day Devotional:90 Day Better Marriage Devotional - Ken and Tabatha (square.site)DOWNLOAD THE FAMILY MEETING OUTLINE HERE ⬇️https://www.kenandtabatha.com/pl/2148103888Support Our Ministry: https://myalivechurch.org/giveConnect with us:- Website:https://www.kenclaytor.comhttps://www.tabathaclaytor.comhttps://www.myalivechurch.org- Socials:Instagram -https://www.instagram.com/kenclaytor/https://www.instagram.com/tabathaclaytor/https://www.instagram.com/myalivechurch/TikTok-@Ken_Claytor@Tabathaclaytor@myalivechurchFacebook-https://www.facebook.com/PastorKenClaytorhttps://www.facebook.com/pastortabathaclaytorhttps://www.facebook.com/myalivechurch- Ask us questions: info@kenandtabatha.com
U.S. President Donald Trump is set to sign a series of executive orders on Thursday, including one that punished banks for restricting services to customers based on their political or religious beliefs, and another that aims to allow private equity, real estate, cryptocurrency and other alternative assets in 401(k) retirement accounts.Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) said on Thursday that the FBI responded to his request to help arrest state House Democratic lawmakers who left the state in a bid to block a GOP-led redistricting effort. Earlier this week, Cornyn sent a letter to the FBI and its director, Kash Patel, to request federal assistance in apprehending the Texas House Democrats who fled to other states, such as Illinois, Massachusetts, and New York, in a bid to block Republicans from conducting House business.
Triggers after betrayal can feel sudden, overwhelming, and impossible to control. But what if they're not signs that you're broken, but signals from your nervous system that you still need safety, care, and attention? In this episode, we break down what a trigger actually is (spoiler: it's not drama), how it works, and why you don't need to be trigger-free to be healing. Whether you're rebuilding with your partner or learning to trust yourself again, this episode offers compassion, clarity, and practical steps for staying grounded, even when your body's screaming otherwise. Key Points / Takeaways: A trigger isn't weakness, it's your body remembering pain and asking: “Are we safe yet?” The spiral happens not from the trigger itself, but from the story we tell ourselves after. You can feel a trigger without obeying the fear it brings. Triggers soften when you respond with awareness, not avoidance. Practical steps: Pause. Name it. Locate it in the body. Choose a response that honours you. Healing isn't about eliminating every trigger, it's about learning to meet them with gentleness and self-trust. Deer hunting is simple enough, right? Locate, read, and interpret the sign. Then, you formulate a plan to ambush them while they travel, feed, or some combination of the two. In its simplest form, that is how you would hunt and kill a deer. Of course, harvest rates tell us that it's a little more complicated than that. Hunting pressure, deer populations, and a host of other variables also tip the scales one way or another. As much as hunting...

As a former C-suite executive, he's driven double-digit growth, streamlined operations, and transformed organizations worldwide. But his real power comes from something unexpected: Mindfulness. Raised in an affluent family in India, Sing mastered classical music by age 13 but was restless, and at 14, he was sent to train under a lama, where he first discovered the profound impact of mindfulness. Scott Payne spent 25 years in the FBI, a lot of the time undercover infiltrating Nazi groups and white supremacist organizations, motorcycle gangs, etc. He busted up many plots including one Dylan Roof copycat that wanted to attack a synagogue in Myrtle Beach. He also spent Halloween night 2019 camping in the backwoods of Georgia, huddled with a cell of neo-Nazis as they slaughtered a goat and drank its blood in a ritual pagan sacrifice. In Code Name: Pale Horse (coming March 25), this retired FBI agent, crowned as the "Hillbilly Donnie Brasco," takes readers into some of the most terrifying and risky assignments in the FBI's history. They will join Scott as he goes undercover with the lethal Outlaw Motorcycle Club in Massachusetts; ventures into the mountains of Tennessee where he was on the front lines of the opioid epidemic; and travels to Alabama, where he infiltrates the Klu Klux Klan by singing and playing guitar for them as a thirty-foot cross burns, and wonders how this is his life. All the while, he managed to stay married to the love of his life, raise two girls, and spend Sundays at church, drawing on his family and his faith to get him through harrowing and exhausting assignments. This is an inspiring, emotionally honest memoir from an American hero and an unflinching deep dive into the most dangerous and pressing threats, beginning and ending with one of the most overlooked ones: the recent rise of a neo-Nazi accelerationist movement that's working to spark a race war, and Scott's mission to take it down before the unthinkable happens.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.
