Start Your Transformation Now In this episode of Transform Your Life From the Inside Out, Jim Fortin launches a new series, Insider Transformation Secrets, where former students from the Transformational Coaching Program (TCP) share their breakthroughs and experiences. Joining Jim is Dr. Anne White, a doctor of acupuncture and Oriental medicine, who shares how she overcame 20 years of financial struggles and limiting beliefs to transform her life. Anne opens up about how subconscious identity shaped her financial reality and how TCP helped her uncover deep-seated blocks she didn't even know existed. From struggling with money to tripling her income, Anne explains how shifting subconscious beliefs allowed her to reach new levels of success, confidence, and fulfillment. If you've ever felt stuck in repeating patterns or struggled to break through invisible barriers, this episode offers invaluable insights into how deep transformation happens—and how you can apply these principles to your own life. What You'll Discover in This Episode: Breaking Through Money Blocks (03:30): How Anne identified and resolved the subconscious patterns that kept her financially stuck. The Power of Subconscious Identity (06:21): Why limiting beliefs operate beneath the surface and how to uncover them. Fear of Judgment & Success (22:43): How fear holds people back from stepping into their full potential—and how Anne conquered it. The Role of Values in Transformation (18:18): Why identifying your subconscious values is crucial to making lasting change. Healing, Fertility, and Energy (31:31): How Anne helps women overcome fear and stress to increase fertility and transform their health. Listen, apply, and enjoy! Transformational Takeaway The transformation you seek starts from within. By uncovering hidden beliefs, shifting subconscious identities, and stepping into your authentic power, you can create the life you desire. The key is to recognize that any external struggle is a reflection of an internal pattern—and when you change the inside, the outside follows. On The New Mason Jar today, we bring you a conversation Cindy and Dawn had with the AmblesideOnline Advisory members Anne White, Donna-Jean Breckenridge, Karen Glass and Leslie Laurio. How the friendship of the AO Advisory developed and has been a gift for each member throughout the years Did the Advisory members use the whole AO curriculum as written? What about those fears about missing out on something if a family doesn't do everything in the curriculum perfectly? The simplicity of the Charlotte Mason approach to language arts Do any of the Advisory doubt Charlotte Mason's methods now that they have all graduated their children? Are there any things that aren't common knowledge that the Advisory wants to share? Books and Links Mentioned: AmblesideOnline Six Voices, One Story by Donna-Jean Breckenridge, et. al. In Vital Harmony by Karen Glass For the Children's Sake by Susan Schaeffer Macaulay AO Advisory Bios: Anne White grew up and still lives in southern Ontario. She anticipated David Epstein's Range by changing her university major three times and stretching a four-year degree into seven, but she did complete a BA in creative writing, and later added a BEd in adult education. In the thirty years between those things, she (and her husband) raised three homeschooled daughters, who have each found their own Range. Anne has been associated with AmblesideOnline since its beginning, and is the author of several books about Charlotte Mason's philosophy. Donna-Jean Breckenridge lives with her family in northern New Jersey. She is honored to be a founding member of the AmblesideOnline Advisory, and she continues to serve AO's community while homeschooling her granddaughters. She is a public speaker, writer (This Country of Ours – Annotated, Edited, and Updated and Six Voices, One Story: The Heart of AmblesideOnline), and audiobook narrator. She counts her greatest roles as mom to her four children, grandmother to five, and grateful friend. Her heart's desire is to encourage others that God is safe to trust, no matter what. After living 25 years in Krakow, Poland, Karen Glass currently lives in Indiana with her husband and youngest daughter. She is a founding member of AmblesideOnline and home educated her four children through graduation. She is the author of several books related to Charlotte Mason and speaks and teaches on the philosophy and methods (especially narration). She reads, writes, tries to grow things, and has been known to crochet doilies and knit socks. Leslie Laurio is an art school dropout, a veteran, a homeschool mom, and one of the founders and original creators of AmblesideOnline. She and her husband live in Tennessee and have four children who were homeschooled all the way from kindergarten through high school, and are now married and scattered across the eastern US pursuing various careers and passions. She has paraphrased the Charlotte Mason series, Parables From Nature, and other works. The person who can live upon his own intellectual resources and never know a dull hour (though anxious and sad hours will come) is indeed enviable in these days of intellectual inanition, when we depend upon spectacular entertainments pour passer le temps [to pass the time]. If knowledge means so much to us, “What is knowledge?” the reader asks. We can give only a negative answer. Knowledge is not instruction, information, scholarship, a well-stored memory. It is passed, like the light of a torch, from mind to mind, and the flame can be kindled at original minds only. Thought, we know, breeds thought; it is as vital thought touches our minds that our ideas are vitalized, and out of our ideas comes our conduct of life… The direct and immediate impact of great minds upon his own mind is necessary to the education of a child. Charlotte Mason, Towards a Philosophy of Education, p. 303 Let us, out of reverence for the children, be modest; let us not stake their interests on the hope that this or that new way would lead to great results if people had only the courage to follow it. It is exciting to become a pioneer; but, for the children's sake, it may be well to constrain ourselves to follow those roads only by which we know that persons have arrived, or those newer roads which offer evident and assured means of progress towards a desired end. Charlotte Mason, School Education, p. 245
You don't need a multibillion-dollar supercollider to detect subatomic particles. In fact, you can build a working cloud chamber—a device capable of revealing the cosmic radiation and radon decay events that go on continuously around us—with just a block of dry ice, some rubbing alcohol, and a few objects you probably already have in your kitchen. What's more, constructing the cloud chamber only takes about an hour, making it an ideal project for an introductory physics class, for intellectually engaged nonscientists, or even for curious kindergartners (with some adult supervision!). In this interview, engineering professor Anne White discusses the pedagogical usefulness of such hands-on activities—and at the other end of the spectrum, she describes her enthusiasm for a much, much larger physics project, the decades-long effort to put nuclear fusion to practical use as a source of clean power for the world. The interview also touches on Prof. White's experience of mentorship, both as mentee in her youth and as mentor now, and on the formative influence of childhood toys in paving the way for the kind of creative goal-driven tinkering that nuclear scientists and engineers practice.Relevant Resources:MIT OpenCourseWareThe OCW Educator PortalProfessor White's faculty page22.011 Nuclear Engineering: Science, Systems and Society on MIT OpenCourseWareAnne White's article: Cloud Chamber Kit for Active Learning in a First-Year Undergraduate Nuclear Science Seminar Class (PDF)PBS NOVA video on making a kitchen cloud chamberMusic in this episode by Blue Dot Sessions Connect with UsIf you have a suggestion for a new episode or have used OCW to change your life or those of others, tell us your story. Ourselves, our Souls and Bodies is much used in the P.U.S., as I know of no other attempt to present such a ground plan of human nature as should enable the young student to know where he is in his efforts to ‘be good' as the children say. The point of view taken in this volume is, that all beautiful and noble possibilities are present in every one; but that each person is subject to assaults and hindrances in various ways of which he should be aware in order that he may watch and pray. Hortatory teaching is apt to bore both young people and their elders; but an ordered presentation of the possibilities and powers that lie in human nature and of the risks that attend these, can hardly fail to have an enlightening and stimulating effect. On several episodes of this podcast, you've heard about Barry-Wehmiller's efforts to transform how business education is taught. If you want leaders who have the skills and courage to care, that should be part of their education before they are out in the world and in positions of responsibility. But what if we can reach people before they are in business school? What if these skills of Truly Human Leadership are taught alongside history, math, science and grammar in primary and secondary education? It could make an amazing difference in our neighborhoods and communities and in the future of our world. This has become a focus of our CEO, Bob Chapman, and to kick-start this effort, we recently hosted a very important group of friends and allies at our St. Louis office to reflect on the purpose of education and formulate a vision to inspire our efforts as we begin in earnest. An “education summit,” if you will. On this podcast, we're going to feature a collage of takeaways from that special day from Anne White of Chapman Foundation for Caring Communities, David-Aaron Roth of Charlotte Latin School and Sarah Bennison of the Mattering Movement.

Another experimental Alzheimer's drug has been shown to slow patients' worsening conditions, researchers reported Monday. The American drug company Eli Lilly said it is seeking U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for the drug donanemab. If approved, it would be the second Alzheimer's treatment for delaying the disease. Alzheimer's affects the brain and causes memory loss and dementia. The FDA approved Leqembi, from Japanese drugmaker Eisai, earlier this month. “Finally there's some hope, right, that we can talk about,” Lilly's Dr. John Sims told reporters Monday at the Alzheimer's Association International Conference in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The drug does not cure the disease. Instead, it slows its progression by about four to seven months. But Sims noted that “it doesn't mean you can't have very meaningful treatments for patients.” Eli Lilly published the full results of its study of 1,700 patients in the Journal of the American Medical Association. It also presented its results at the Alzheimer's conference. Both donanemab and Leqembi are laboratory-made antibodies. The treatments are injected into the patients. The drugs target a protein buildup, called beta amyloid, in the brain of Alzheimer's patients. Both drugs come with serious safety concerns. Patients can experience brain swelling or bleeding. In the Lilly study, such side effects were linked to three deaths. Dr. Liana Apostolova was the study investigator. She is also a professor in Alzheimer's Disease research at Indiana University School of Medicine. She said, "These side effects should not be taken lightly." But she added that, in most cases, the effects were well controlled by monitoring with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or by stopping using the drug.Lilly's study included people ages 60 to 85 who were in the early stages of Alzheimer's. Half of the study subjects received a monthly injection of donanemab for up to 18 months. The other half received an inactive substance, called a placebo. Patients were also switched to inactive substances if enough amyloid cleared out. The study found that it happened to half of the patients within a year. Amyloid alone does not cause Alzheimer's. So researchers also studied the levels of tau, another protein that causes the disease in the brain. Patients with higher levels of tau are considered to be in the more advanced stages of Alzheimer's.Liana Apostolova The results: both groups declined during the 18-month study but the drug appears to work better for patients in earlier stages of the disease. Those with low to medium tau levels saw a 35- percent slower decline. For high tau patients, donanemab slowed the disease progression by about 17 percent. Anne White is the president of neuroscience at Lilly. She said, "At the end of the trial, the average patient had been without drugs for seven months and yet they continued to benefit.” Scientists say that, while these drugs may mark a new era in Alzheimer's treatment, huge questions remain about which patients should try them. Questions also remain about how much benefit patients will really experience. The main safety concern is brain swelling or bleeding. These conditions often cause no symptoms but sometimes can be serious, even deadly. Another concern is that more than 90 percent of the study's patients were white. That means there is little data on how effective the treatment could be for other populations, said Alzheimer's specialist Jennifer Manly of Columbia University. Lilly expects the FDA to decide by the end of this year whether to approve donanemab. The company is also seeking approval from other health agencies worldwide.另一个担忧是该研究中超过 90% 的患者是白人。 哥伦比亚大学阿尔茨海默病专家詹妮弗·曼利说,这意味着关于这种治疗对其他人群的有效性的数据很少。礼来公司预计 FDA 将在今年年底前决定是否批准 donanemab。 该公司还在寻求全球其他卫生机构的批准。

During the global coronavirus pandemic, FringeArts is pivoting the focus of our podcast to checking in with our artists, our audiences, and our community partners during these unprecedented times. Since we can't gather, we'll chat remotely about how we respond to this crisis, and how the role of art during a pandemic shifts. In this episode, FringeArts Marketing Manager Raina Searles and Artistic Producer Katy Dammers chat with Anne White, dancer and Education/Community Relations Specialist at BalletX, Philadelphia's premiere contemporary ballet company founded in 2005. The three discuss what it takes to keep dancing during lockdown, the essential nature of the arts, and how hope for a brighter future is instilled through togetherness and creativity.
The promise of science to change people’s lives has never been greater. Recent progress in understanding biology, including the sequencing of the human genome, has led to new insights — allowing scientists more power and precision to treat disease, including cancer. As the understanding of cancer grows, scientists have found that it’s actually not a single disease but a collection of diseases that are driven by various causes or genetic breakdowns. Joe talks to Pete Nicholas, co-founder of Boston Scientific about his diagnosis of a very aggressive form of non-small cell lung cancer. Joe also talks to Anne White, President of Lilly Oncology, about the factors that came into play to redesign a traditional oncology research and development organization into a biotech and how this new mindset has the potential to develop more medicines for people living with cancer.
Thanks so much for tuning in to the show. Today, like every day on the show, is special because I get to talk with someone who Anne White, elite pro tennis player, movie producer, etc., has made an impact in the tennis world on many levels: on court, in the media and in education. Anne and started playing tennis at just five years old and by the time she was nine years old she was #29 in the U.S. in the 12’s. At 14 Anne did not have a coach during the winter and was only able to practice indoors 3 hours a week. Nick Bollettieri watched her play in the National 16’s and offered her a scholarship to train in Florida at what is now the infamous IMG Academy. After two and a half years in Bradenton, FL, she then went on to college at USC where she played #2 as a freshman. Anne finished the year as an undefeated All American and USC won the National Championship. Anne also won 3 USTA gold balls in one day at The U.S. Amateur Clay Courts in Pittsburgh, PA, winning the singles, doubles and mixed doubles. In 1987, after two years at USC, Anne turned pro and played eight years on the circuit reaching #19 in the world in singles and #9 in the world in doubles. She won one singles title and eight doubles titles with six different partners, including Chris Evert. Following her WTA career, Anne has been involved in a broad array of endeavors including color commentary for professional tennis tournaments and in addition to her directing tennis at the Beverly Hills Tennis Club she produced a feature documentary about Bollettieri for SHOWTIME, “Love Means Zero“ and co-producing a new online interactive reading platform called REED (Read, Experience, Explore and Dream).
Former World #19, ANNE WHITE shares insight on tour happenings, her documentary "Love Means Zero" and the story of her famous Wimbledon bodysuit.
Anne White talks about her time at the Bollettieri Academy and about producing Nick Bollettieri’s documentary: Love Means Zero.

Anne White is a mother of three, a long-time member of the Ambleside Online Advisory Board, and the author of numerous resources on the Greek-born Roman historian Plutarch. She joins us on this episode of the podcast to help us figure out how we might approach reading Plutarch with our kids during Morning Time. Who was Plutarch? What did he write about? Why did Charlotte Mason consider him worthy of inclusion in her course of study? What can modern-day students hope to glean from learning about people and events from so long ago? Anne answers these questions and so many more. She explains that the purpose of reading Plutarch is not to get bogged down in names and dates from ancient history, but rather to share stories with our children and, in doing so, to help them grow in virtue and character. Anne shares how she herself did not understand Plutarch on her first reading, but began to enjoy him after additional reading and study. In sharing her story, Anne reminded me that I can be a fellow learner alongside my children as we approach subjects like these during Morning Time. Listen along as Anne brings Plutarch to life!
