This week, we'd like to replay a great episode highlighting an upcoming race for you. We appreciate your patience and are forever grateful for your support. In honor of the upcoming 2nd Annual Run with Meb on Saturday, May 4, 2024, in Tampa, Florida, we are replaying the conversation we had with Boston and New York City Marathon Champion and Olympic Silver Medalist Meb Keflezighi about the inaugural race in Tampa, Florida. It is a small and quaint place that is huge in flavor! We had salads, appetizers, and pizza that were so flavorful! We recommend this place if you are scouting colleges or heading to Busch Gardens in Tampa. In addition, there are local craft beers on tap and a wide range of wines on the menu, from less expensive to higher-end choices. We went with a glass of house wine, and it was delicious. Sacramento's X Street Navigation Shelter progress and setbacks for those unhoused. What we know, and don't know, about the El Niño winter forecast. Is this year's wildfire season over? The 30th Annual “Run to Feed the Hungry.” Sacramento's X Street Navigation Shelter It's one of Sacramento's busiest homeless shelters and while there has been some success in connecting people with housing options, there's still room for improvement. CapRadio Homelessness and Housing Affordability Reporter Chris Nichols joins us for an update on the X Street shelter and the significant barriers that still keep people from finding a permanent, safe, place to live. We will also learn about a new seasonal shelter that has opened in Elk Grove. El Niño Winter Forecast The forecast this winter is that El Niño is making a comeback, a weather pattern associated with wet weather and flooding. But it's not that simple or predictable. According to the NOAA, El Nino dates back to the 1600s, when South American fishermen noticed periods of unusually warm water in the Pacific Ocean. Some 400 years later, there is still a great deal we don't know. While some climate models are predicting a “super El Nino” this winter, it doesn't mean we'll feel that impact in Northern California. Dr. Paul Ullrich, Professor of Regional Climate Modeling at UC Davis, explains how big of a role El Niño plays in predicting wintertime precipitation in California. Is Wildfire Season Over? You might think this year's wildfire season is a closed chapter. But history would caution otherwise. Tomorrow marks five years since the Camp Fire, the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in California history. And in Southern California, the 2017 Thomas Fire is among one of the largest and most destructive in state history. They are sobering reminders that wildfires can defy seasons and be year round. Craig Clements, Professor and Director of the Wildfire Interdisciplinary Research Center at San Jose State University and joins us with a clearer picture of where things stand so far this year. 30th Annual ‘Run to Feed the Hungry' is the largest Thanksgiving Day fun run in the country, and the largest annual fundraiser for the Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services. This year, the Sacramento tradition returns for its 30th year, and a goal of 30,000 participants. Blake Young, President and CEO of the Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services gives a preview of the 30th annual run taking place on Nov. 23, and how it will support those in the Sacramento region facing hunger and food insecurity.

Today we have the honor of sharing two U.S. veteran stories, both out gay military service members who were in basic training together fifteen years ago and have not seen each other since. Army Veterans Cliff Brown, who is a project manager at Home Base, and Jade Griffiths, who works today as a 911 dispatcher, talk to us and each other about how life was for them as LGBTQ-identifying soldiers during Don't Ask Don't Tell and after it was repealed, about President Trump's 2017 reenactment of the Transgender service ban, and how things are going today. Like all periods of struggle for equal rights, you need to look backwards to look ahead, and it's important for us to continue shed light on these issues and share peoples' stories. As we near the end of June, we wanted to wish our listeners a Happy Pride month.###If you are your loved one is experiencing any emotional, mental health struggles, you are not alone and please contact Home Base at (617) 724-5202, or visit www.homebase.org.Sign up to join us in person or virtually for the 13th Annual Run to Home Base at runtohomebase.org.Theme music for Home Base Nation: "Rolling the tree" by The Butler FrogsAdditional music in today's episode: "A Gentle Transition" by Immersive Music, purchased and licensed through Premium Beat; and "Lighter" by Crowander, used under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommericial 4.0 licensing termFollow Home Base on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedInThe Home Base Nation Team is Steve Monaco, Maureen Roderick, Laurie Gallagher, Karianne Kraus, Lucy Little, Taylor Orlando, with COO Michael Allard, Brigadier General Jack Hammond, and Peter Smyth.Producer and Host: Dr. Ron HirschbergProducer, Sound, Editor: Lucy LittleChairman, Home Base Media Lab: Peter SmythHome Base Nation is the official podcast of Home Base Program for Veterans and Military Families, a partnership of the Massachusetts General Hospital and the Red Sox Foundation. Today's episode is with U.S. Congressman (D-MA 6th District) and Marine veteran Seth Moulton. We connected with the Congressman after we spoke with Said Noor, the Afghani American U.S. Army Veteran who's episode we released last week. Said's mom and siblings were able to get out of Afghanistan about the fall of Kabul to the Taliban in August 2021, thanks in large part to Congressman Moulton and his team, including Director of Constituent Services Neesha Suarez, who worked with Said and U.S. military on the ground in Afghanistan to get to them safety. We spoke with Congressman Moulton not only about Said and how he and his team helped Said's family, but more generally about service, about his pivot to public service back in college, and how that has stayed with him ever since, always trying to do the right thing.###If you are your loved one is experiencing any emotional, mental health struggles, you are not alone and please contact Home Base at (617) 724-5202, or visit www.homebase.org.Sign up to join us in person or virtually for the 13th Annual Run to Home Base at runtohomebase.org.Theme music for Home Base Nation: "Rolling the tree" by The Butler FrogsAdditional music in today's episode: "A Gentle Transition" by Immersive Music, purchased and licensed through Premium Beat.Follow Home Base on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedInThe Home Base Nation Team is Steve Monaco, Maureen Roderick, Laurie Gallagher, Karianne Kraus, Lucy Little, Taylor Orlando, with COO Michael Allard, Brigadier General Jack Hammond, and Peter Smyth.Producer and Host: Dr. The 11th Annual Run for the Fallen CT will be held virtually this year due to the current climate of public health concerns. The event will kick off at 7am with opening remarks from our team on Facebook Live. The names of 10 fallen heroes will be read at the top of every hour (7am-1pm) for each “virtual lap” of the run. Pictures and biographies of each service member will be posted during their assigned time slot.We encourage participants to run, walk, cycle etc. to honor our fallen heroes and share comments and photos throughout the day. We will be posting links in our website for participants to print out bibs and other items for virtual participation. A closing ceremony will be made available at 2pm after the conclusion of the final lap (Facebook and YouTube link). While we are very saddened at the thought of not having a live event this year and will greatly miss seeing our RFTFCT families and participants, we hope to at least provide a platform this year to bring everyone together for a day of remembrance and recognition of our fallen heroes and their families.

In today's episode we talk about running the race and running towards God and pursuing His heart. We have a very special interview with Jason Sampler, the Georgia Director of Lifeline Children's Services sharing about the work of Lifeline with Pregnancy Counseling and Adoption Services here in Georgia and globally. Jason shares about a very special 9th Annual "Run for One" happening this weekend, August 29th at several locations in the south. This episode shares lots of beautiful insights about how we can pursue God and run towards Him. When we run towards Him, He will run towards us just like the Father in the story of the Prodigal running to his son. The Father's heart is to go after the one who is lost and even leaving the 99 to find that lost soul who has gone astray. He’s not far from each one of us. Even if it feels like you've run so far away that you’ve reached the point of no return, there He is right behind you, waiting to heal your backslidings.Jeremiah 3:22“Return, you backsliding children, And I will heal your backslidings.”Matthew 18:11-14For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost.“What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying? And if he should find it, assuredly, I say to you, he rejoices more over that sheep than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray. Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.Saturday August 29th Lifeline's 9th Annual Run for Onehttps://p2p.onecause.com/runforone5k/homeHope to run together with you! In this podcast, Practice Leader, Adam Mansfield, discusses how they achieved this impressive growth in such a short period of time and covers what enterprise customers should know (and expect) if they are considering Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or contemplating a move from Microsoft Office 365 to Google G Suite.

This is the TwoTim47.com podcast episode number 78. Back in 2017, I met Laura Baumgartner and three of her students - Mitch, Nick and Austin - from Pontiac High School in Illinois. These young men were three of Laura's special needs students. After spending time with them, I came to see these three as just plain special. Every year Laura and her students partner with Special Olympics Illinois to host an annual Run for Respect. The mission behind the run is to get rid of the "R-word" retarded and replace it with the "R-word" respect. I find the beauty of what Laura and her students are doing in their hearts. Laura's students aren't asking their community to respect them. Their fight is for everyone to be respected by everyone. That's a beautiful fight - a fight we'd all be well served getting behind. In this interview, Laura and I talk about her passion for teaching her students and for making a difference in the community she grew up in. With help from the running community, Laura and her students have been able to build a culture of acceptance and inclusion in Pontiac, Illinois. This is a beautiful story about how one idea applied with a whole lot of heart really can make a difference in the world. This video chronicles the 4th Annual Run for Rogosin in 2010. The Run For Rogosin race was founded by kidney transplant recipient Steve Olsen, owner of The West Bank Café in the heart of New York City's theater district. Many of Steve's Broadway theater friends have joined the crowd of runners for the last several years. His personal commitment, and that of his friends to our cause, makes this a very special event. Steve’s story is told in our 2009 Gala video available for viewing here on iTunes U. The Run for Rogosin is a 5K Run/Walk that has grown over the years because so many people with and without kidney disease are committed to our cause. We hope that you will take up the challenge by becoming a participant, donor or sponsor and helping the Rogosin Institute pursue critical research, treatment and prevention initiatives for thousands of patients and those at risk for kidney disease, diabetes, hypertension and cholesterol disorders. We also hope you will encourage your friends and colleagues to Run for Rogosin!
