The four finalists who will contest the 2021 Aston Martin Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award have been selected. Ollie Bearman, Jonny Edgar, Louis Foster and Zak O'Sullivan are the finalists. None have been in the Award before. This week on the podcast we're talking to each driver individually, and hearing about their story so far. He seems set to make up for that disappointment this year, as he comfortably tops the points ahead of the finale.

Previous winners include 2009 F1 world champion Jenson Button, 13-time grand prix winner David Coulthard, current F1 drivers Lando Norris and George Russell, triple Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti, and 2014 World Endurance champion Anthony Davidson. Today we're talking to Ollie Bearman. The 16-year-old Essex driver has been the class of the ferociously competitive Italian and German Formula 4 championships in 2021. Bearman has won 13 races with Van Amersfoort Racing and leads the points in both series. Has also been a race winner in selected GB3 outings, despite limited mileage compared to his rivals.

Indian endurance cyclist Vedangi Kulkarni set off around the world in 2018 aged just 19 with a mission to become a Guinness World Record holder and become the youngest women to circumnavigate along the globe. To say it was an adventure in an understatement; close encounters with bears, dead kangaroos, visa issues, wonderful hospitality, saddle sores, incredible landscapes, mugging at knifepoint - the highs and lows were extreme, and Vedangi shares it all with us. She also answers questions sent in by Spindrift listeners, such as how she managed periods during the attempt, and has some advice for budding adventure cyclists.
One of the best kept secrets in American Motorcycling is the World Endurance Championship that my guest for Episode 13 won in 1993. He was the first American to do so and he did it at a time when so few American's knew that there was a World Endurance series. In many respects for my guest, that might have been be the pinnacle of his racing success after learning his craft on the race tracks of America, but his career in motorcycling continued with American Honda and an opportunity to pass along his expertise to a new and different audience. Through his tenure with Honda, his successful racing career, and his time in the media with Cycle World, Doug Toland was able to live his dream, and occasionally wear a tie!

Mark Webber is one of the world’s all-time high performers. His rise from country Australia to the pinnacle of motorsport is an incredibly inspiring and entertaining story. 12 years in the cut-throat billion-dollar industry of Formula 1 motor racing– winning 9 Formula One Grand Prix’s and finishing on the podium in the overall drivers’ championship 3 times. Post Formula 1, he raced for Porsche in the World Endurance car Championships where he won the world title in 2015.He retired from professional racing in 2016 but he hasn’t stopped… his transition, seamless from racing… to Porsche, Red Bull, and Rolex ambassador and TV pundit and public speaker. He’s had his fair share up bumps and shunts, but he’s continued to keep moving forward. He’s been a good mate of mine for over a decade, a great endurance athlete, a salt of the earth good guy, and someone I truly take inspiration from.

My very special guest on Mindset Unfiltered this week is an absolute legend. He's a British racing driver who lives in Guernsey with his wonderful wife Jo and super talented kids Seb and Danielle. With a professional racing career that has spanned almost 25 years, he is a European Touring Car Championship champion, three times World Touring Car Championship champion, the only FIA Touring Car champion to win an international-level championship for four consecutive years and, as if that isn't enough, he holds an MBE. Andy races in the World Endurance Championship for Ford Chip Ganassi Team UK and in the World Touring Car Cup for Lynk & Co.Andy chats openly about what it is that makes him a multi time champion level driver, his mindset on and off track, his positivity, mental health and also touches on the gremlins that have crept into his brain over the years and how he has overcome bouts of depression . Andy is a really good human and someone I consider to be a good pal now having had some wonderful chats over the years... but I have to say, this one potentially tops them all.
