In this episode, I'm thrilled to introduce Beth Porter, an incredibly talented artist and co-owner of Wet Dog Tile Company. Beth shares her journey from a fine arts background to becoming a trailblazer in custom tile artistry.   Wet Dog Tile Company is known for its unique, multi-textural tile designs that go beyond traditional forms, incorporating mixed media, organic shapes, and, often, personal touches that make each project one-of-a-kind. Wet Dog creates tiles that defy typical geometric shapes—think starfish-shaped tiles rather than standard square tiles. The designs range from ocean-inspired themes to custom pet portraits and are crafted using a mix of ceramic, glass mosaics, crushed glass, and pebbles to add texture and color.   Beth shares how the company name was inspired by her involvement in animal rescue and living in a coastal town. What started as a hobby has grown into a full-fledged business, creating tiles for spaces all over the country.   Wet Dog Tile Company is not just about tile; it's about creating deeply personal, artistic statements for any space. From custom pet portraits to unique textural designs, Beth's approach makes each project a labor of love. Whether you're a homeowner or an interior designer, Wet Dog Tile offers something extraordinary to bring your vision to life.   Connect with Wet Dog Tile Company: Website: WetDogTile.com Instagram: @wetdogtile Facebook: Wet Dog Tile Company   Podcast Website and Resources: Get more info about our year-long mentorship and coaching program: https://www.designedforthecreativemind.com/business-bakery   Text BESTIE to 855-784-8299 for business tips, encouragement, and all our DFCM updates.   SIMPLIFY YOUR MARKETING, SIMPLIFY YOUR LIFE. When we are in doubt, we are on the fence. We are not going anywhere. Doubt poisons all action. "Well, I don't know" -so we don't do anything. We should meet life with a "Yes," an affirmative attitude. That's the Faith the spiritual teachers throughout time are talking about! On this episode, Darrell and Ed focus on the fact that there is a force for good in the world and when we are cooperating with that force for good, good things happen to us. And, during the second segment, Bright-eyed and bold Beth Porter kicks doubt out with today's reading, “Zeal”. An Exploration of Forgiveness with Beth Porter

Sovereign Horse

Forgiveness is such an important topic when we are exploring sovereignty for ourselves and our horses.   So many of us who partner, work and love horses have been burned by someone they trusted along their journey. This is the primary reason why so many people say “horse people are crazy” and label the entire industry as a dark place.   I'm no stranger to this myself. I've placed my trust in those who I felt had mine and my horses' highest and best interests at heart, only to realize they had ulterior motives.    And while I held onto the pain of those experiences and allowed them to shape the way I moved through the world for a very long time, it was my horses who finally made me realize that in order to allow better experiences into our lives, I needed to learn how to forgive those who had wronged us.    And, perhaps more importantly, I needed to learn how to forgive myself for allowing us to be put in those situations in the first place.   Forgiveness is no small topic. So I brought in my friend Beth Porter, who is a intuitive healer and EPT practitioner, to help me explore what forgiveness is, why humans have such a hard time with it, and how we can move through the pain, shame and guilt that prevents us from being able to forgive and move forward.   Forgiveness is such a foundational component of our own personal healing and also of how we can build trust and connection with our equine partners. I am honoured to bring this episode to you alongside Beth, who offered so many insights on the process of forgiveness and is just such a beautiful human and soul who I am grateful to know.   Connect with Beth: https://www.earthandetherhealing.com/ https://www.instagram.com/earthandether/   Connect with Angela: www.equineelevation.com https://www.instagram.com/equineelevation/

Voice for God, Heart of Forgiveness Beth Cram Porter, Chair of the Department of Music and Worship, has the voice of an angel, the whistle of Ohio's state bird, and a powerful story of forgiveness that sings God's praise.   Beth came to Cedarville in 1997 and has impacted hundreds of voice and music students since. Her reputation for loving her students generously and unconditionally has earned her the endearing moniker of Mama Porter. And as for that whistle, she really can very closely approximate the song of a cardinal. Just ask her if you see her.   Her vocal talent has made her a memorable fixture for the annual Community Christmas Celebration. One of her chapel performances was so enthralling that it earned her an invite as the featured soloist for the National Day of Prayer at the White House in 2004, where she sang for fellow Texan President George W. Bush.  But beyond the opportunities and accolades, Beth has faced great loss and trials as she underwent a devastating divorce. She learned deep lessons about God's faithfulness and the power of forgiveness, which she has now shared with hundreds and hundreds of students.  Through it all, the Lord is the one conducting this mysterious and amazing concert of her life.  “I tell the Lord often and have told Him for a long time, ‘Lord, please use me, but don't let me know it,'” she offers during the podcast. “As an artist, it's very easy to become all-consumed with self. I don't want to be able to take any credit for anything that is obviously the work of God.”  ………..  Enjoy Beth Porter's amazing talent on display at the annual Community Christmas Celebration.

Hello beautiful Woman Inc. Listeners! My guest this week is Beth Porter, Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer of Sweet Nothings, a plant-based, organic, no sugar added delicious snack. As a busy entrepreneur and parent, Beth was always looking for convenient snacks that were healthy, yet still delicious. Fruit and nuts are the obvious choice for health and convenience, but they get boring day after day. I can attest— I have bags in my kitchen that I haven't opened for a little longer than I'm willing to admit in this moment. Smoothies were a tasty and popular option with her family, but the prep, mess and cleanup were far from convenient. There might be nothing I hate more than cleaning a blender. I will buy a $20 smoothie before I clean I blender, but that might be a bigger problem for another time.  She started experimenting with how to make fruits, nuts, and seeds in a new format— a smoothie-like blend, frozen in a cup for later, while maintaining a texture that felt indulgent like ice cream. After mastering the product at home, she brought the product to her community and knew then that she needed to share it with the world. Her passion and care for the product she has created is so evident in this episode which is generally a theme amongst the most successful entrepreneurs I interview.  If you haven't tried Sweet Nothings I am completely obsessed. Beth brings so much knowledge and inspiration to this episode and I can't wait for you guys to hear.  Now, let's get over to my conversation with Beth.

We're back with our first Book Review for EnvironMental - we've decided as part of our monthly deep dives into different aspects of sustainability that we would read something focused on that topic. This month's topic: Recycling. We read Reduce, Reuse, Reimagine by Beth Porter. So here's the overview: Would we recommend this book? Yes - to people who are really into recycling OR in a high school, "how to be an adult" class as a text book. There are a ton of great insights here - and we both especially loved Beth's commentary on Moral Licensing and Planned Obsolescence because it gave us solid terms to identify some common (and previously unknown) situations we encounter. If you're a modern history buff, this book is great. There is a lot of valuable information on how we got to where we are today with the recycling industry as a whole, and there is also an optimistic hope for the future. For GREAT recycling tips, check out Chapter 9. Some good ones: - Cut off the greasy part of your pizza box before you recycle it. - Don't "Wish Cycle" - When it doubt throw it out, rather than in the recycle bin - Clean things enough so they don't contaminate other recyclable items Here are some great quotes: "If you're not using recycled materials, you're not recycling" "Recycling is managing our materials to extend their usefulness and reduce our environmental impact." When referring to reducing, reusing, and recycling, Beth says, "These are just pieces of a process that can start at any time" It's a great encouragement for folks who may not regularly choose to recycle, but want to understand more about the impact of their decisions! Here's a neat resource from the book too: Earth911.com #environmentalpodcast #sustainability #recyclingtips #reducereuserecycle

Environmental problems make a lot of news, but solutions are in the works in many places too. Where thinking around a whole system is taking place, ideas-in-action deserve a listen!                      Beth Porter, Climate Campaigns Director for the DC based non-profit Green America, digs into making solutions work, toward a green economy.  The Earthworms conversation focuses on Porter's recent extensive research into recycling - her book Reduce, Reuse, Reimagine sorts out the recycling system - and on Green America's Cool It! campaign to transform refrigerants from climate-whacking HFCs to options that will keep cool both our stuff and our planet.   Green America works to harness economic power - the strength of consumers, investors, businesses and the marketplace - to create a socially just and environmentally sustainable society.   THANKS to Andy Heaslet, Earthworms engineer Music: Butter II, performed live at KDHX by Ian Ethan Case Related Earthworms Conversations: Drawdown: Solutions to Reverse Global Warming (March 2018) Bin There, Do This! This episode of the Not A Mama Yet podcast features Green America’s Climate & Recycling Director Beth Porter. Beth is the author of Reduce, Reuse, Reimagine: Sorting Out the Recycling System and through her work she has helped thousands of individuals and businesses live and operate more sustainably. Beth has spearheaded many campaigns that identify the waste of resources and energy in varying sectors and has authored comprehensive reports of proposed solutions. She loves to help people find answers to their recycling questions and try new ways to reduce waste, which is why I wanted her on the podcast! I spoke with Beth about the current state of our planet and what we can be hopeful for, initiatives she has worked on, and what we can be thinking about in our own lives to lower our environmental impact. This episode is very educational and is so helpful in understanding recycling better. Enjoy!! My main takeaways: Learn how to recycle properly! Reduce, reuse, recycle: There is a reason recycle comes last! Reduce and reuse are so important and we must focus on less waste before anything else! Our spheres of influence vary. For example, I am just one person who can put in the work in my own home. A government official is also just one person but their sphere of influence is much greater because they can support laws that either help or hurt our planet. When moving and cleaning out your home, buy second hand, find used boxes for packing, and check out freecycle.org to find what people might be giving away in your area. Make sure you dispose of any electronics in the best way and use http://nationalgreenpages.org to find vetted businesses to buy from for other products you can’t buy second hand. With recycling rates stuck near 34 percent in the United States, and in the face of China's National Sword contaminated recycled materials ban, the country needs to establish a new recycling ethos. Porter also reintroduces an important American story about Scrap For Victory recycling campaigns during World War II that galvanized the homefront. Children, adults, communities, and companies pulled together to gather scrap metal to produce planes and tanks to fight the war. Why can't we make the same shared commitment today?
