Women are carrying multiple generations’ worth of trauma in our DNA.  A lot of it involves our bodies, and namely – our sexuality.  Are our bodies – and our innate sexual energies – the unclean, not-to-be-trusted aspects we’ve been programmed to believe they are? Or…could they be the one of the keys to our power and creativity? The new “call” is to reintegrate; to come back into our embodied wisdom and sexual sovereignty to access authentic divine feminine connection.  Julianne Vaccaro works with women to self-heal, reclaim their erotic goddess, come home to their bodies, and soften into their power for total embodiment. Please note this was recorded 3 weeks ago, along with the last 2 episodes, before the pandemic.  As I shared on my main FB page, I don’t mean to be insensitive about the world’s issues and what we’re facing. However! This is a time on the Earth of unprecedented change and incorporating new ways of thinking, being and healing… 065:  Deep Soul Work with Sacred Plants This episode carries some serious TRUTH BOMBS!  If you had discovered something powerful that you knew could save the life of a suffering loved one – but it was pretty unorthodox and “out-of-the-box” – would you still share it with them?  Most of us would say yes…we’d do anything to relieve the pain and facilitate healing – and especially save the life – of those we love. Since the devastating suicides of her son-in-law and husband, Laura Stoker has been on a focused mission to heal her family, find her highest path as a soul entrepreneur, and liberate others along the way. In her memoir, "Joy Is My Answer,” she candidly shares her journey of living with her husband’s mental illness for 22 years and coming into her own power by finding her voice and holding healthy boundaries. Laura recently returned from Peru and had an unforgettable healing experience working with a Shipibo tribe Shaman and the feminine sacred plant medicine, Ayahuasca. This was her second time in the Amazon jungle of Peru working with this plant medicine, and this time she took her daughter.  Laura and I have a VERY frank and fascinating conversation about the future of healing with sacred plants. Link to this episode is in the comments below!  (SUBSCRIBE to Women Seeking Wholeness on iTunes, Spotify and all other podcast platforms) In this episode: Why certain powerful plants in the psychedelic family – Ayahuasca in particular – are often confused with drugs, yet are poised to be the new frontier in mind/body healing.   What is a modern-day Shaman? What is Ayahuasca’s purpose in creation?  How has it been used for hundreds of years and how, when and where should it be administered? There comes a point in the life of every truth-seeker when they must claim their OWN path without having to look to another human leader or authority for approval. Why is this the natural order of soul evolution, and how can NATURE assist us in this evolution?  Find Laura’s book: “Joy is My Answer” on Amazon. 064:  Women’s Bodies and Cultural-Religious Mixed Messages Can a woman can be considered a “holy” being while also considered a “sexual” being?  What kinds of subtle messages do women internalize about their sexuality within the “church”?  Even though my heritage is Mormonism, this issue is pervasive across most all religions (and our larger culture).  This totally piggybacks my conversation last week with Mormon Sex Therapist, Natasha Helfer Parker. Abuse is more complex than just physical violence or verbal assault. When we are connected to a partner, a deep and strong tie becomes embedded inside that leaves us vulnerable and open to trauma in many forms (not just infidelity).  For many women, it’s become so chronic in their relationship that they don’t realize how it’s impacting their quality of life and health. After years of attempting to stop her husband’s pornography use and “anger issues”, Anne Blythe's husband was arrested for domestic violence in 2015. Intimacy is not just something that happens in the bedroom. It’s a way of being…with yourself.  Intimacy = “into-me-see.”  A woman often doesn’t know how to express her sexuality because of the religious, cultural, and familial programming she’s received from her girlhood (often still being perpetuated in her mature adulthood).  Melisa Keenan is a wife and mom of 4 who’s become an Intimacy Coach to help women embody intimacy as their natural state of being. First of all, Merry Christmas!  I saved this episode for this special day because self-nourishment and self-care is the highest and holiest GIFT you give to God, Self and Others. What is inner body wisdom and what does it have to do with getting in touch with your innate needs?  How often do you ask yourself, “What do I want?” “What is it that I need?” “What do I like?” These are not selfish questions… they are actually VITAL to address and explore in order for you to be in your “knowing” and to feel alive in your body! This beautiful personal “Devotional Self Care” mentor of mine from Her Mystery School, Jasmine Patten, has a super real conversation with me about living a life of alignment, grace and ease vs. stress, exhaustion and burnout.  She is a sought-after “spirited business” and self-care coach for creative entrepreneurs and freedom-loving women. This is an intense episode about getting real and helping those in need. We identify patterns in our familial lineage, explaining the navigating factors of domestic abuse, and reliving the moment we knew Shawna was gone. Are you struggling with a painful transition in your life - grieving or suffering around a major decision - and are truly concerned with how it will be perceived by others? What if…this is exactly what your soul is trying to bring to you: RELEASING the voices of others? (Allowing you to fully hear the voice of God, in whatever way, shape or form you define this). My soul friend Leah Young believes that we are cradled by a Universe that conspires in our favor, bringing circumstances and relationships to stretch our souls, which are yearning for our growth. Having an unexpected, life-altering transition has helped Leah to slow down and become more attuned to this way of being, thinking and feeling. She bravely stepped out of “hustling for worthiness” in religion (trying to become more, do more, be more, serve more, more, more, more) and into authentic spirituality (realizing that the “more” she was striving for has always been within her; she just needed to tune in, slow down and rediscover it.) Allowing space for self-love and compassion leads us into real love and compassion for others.  Recognizing that true courage comes from learning to sit inside the discomfort of life, often alone, to see it, to honor it, to be willing to move through it, and lean into the lessons.  Leah’s website is: www.BalancedLivingwithLeah.com  For more info on working with Leah, email her at leah.robin@gmail.com Find her as “Leah Lewis Young” on Instagram & Facebook. “Parenting.Aftermormonism” is her “baby” on Instagram; it’s an uplifiting, inspiring, positive group, offering resources and stories and hope and healing for conscious parents in transition.   ABOUT: Cherie Burton is a mom of 6, author, international speaker, emotional healing expert, business owner and feminine leadership trainer. What are you waiting for, to step into your divine purpose and the life of your dreams?  Hear from author of A Little Book of Permission, Susie Sourwine, all the way from beautiful SCOTLAND. In the last year, Susie has completely reorganized her life to prioritize having conversations about the way learning to give ourselves permission will change our lives… and when we as coaches, teachers, parents and leaders teach it and centralize our work around it, we change our influence.  And we change the world. She calls this “rewilding your life.” LISTEN to our interview and/or SUBSCRIBE here: https://cherieburton.com/category/womenseekingwholeness/ In this episode: What actually is this thing “PERMISSION” we are supposed to give ourselves to take action and create the change we want in our lives?   Why giving ourselves permission is so difficult for women and how can we develop that muscle in ourselves and others.   How it is just as important to declutter our thoughts and beliefs about our obligations as it is to declutter our living space. How we have to do things differently if we really want to change the world for the better—a motivation for so many women.   Why incorporating and requiring permission and consent in our lives allows us to contribute more, gives resilience for errors and for dropping the attachment to perfection, and provides multiple opportunities for choice and FREEDOM. Jumana Sophia’s work articulates the soul road of womanhood and the nobility, the eternal rightness and the incorruptible beauty of female sexuality and sacred femininity.  She writes, “This is a time of remembrance, and my work will foster an intimacy with yourself that is True. That feels like Home.” Jumana and I went deep in our discussion about what it really means to be an authentic woman; to let it emerge and to express as it naturally longs to.  We talk of how women steward the “womb of the world” and underestimate their power in just BEING.     In this episode: What is the healthiest, highest-vibe definition of “worthiness”? How do periods of transition in our lives become initiations into the unfolding of our true natures? What is the fulness of womanhood? She escaped from a polygamous cult, literally breaking herself out of a locked-up room in a “Repentance House.” The cult’s prophet was Warren Jeffs, to whom she was “given to” as a teenager.  Warren had over 70 wives and concubines before his arrest and incarceration. Briell was groomed, programmed, even tortured to stay obedient from the time she was a young girl. Eventually she allowed herself to question, use her voice and wake up.  Now, she is writing a book, speaking out, and is involved in 4 non profits involved in cult recovery and complex trauma solutions. “There is a silent revolution taking place…This is a new type of revolution, the type that has not been written about in history books. This revolution is giving birth to Revolutionaries and not Reactionaries. These Revolutionaries see beyond the tribal creeds that have been rooted upon fear and upon territory. You can distinguish between the Reactionaries and the Revolutionaries because the Reactionaries base their reforms on fear, anger, scarcity, and emotional prejudices. Revolutionaries, on the other hand, do not provoke further reaction, instead, they seek to resolve conflicts while also implementing radical change based on a grander vision for the future. Revolutionaries, like Jesus, are not anchored in fear --they are anchored in a deep goodwill toward all creatures.” Who says stuff like this?! My revolutionary friend Wendi, that’s who. Wendi Jensen has been an author, speaker and trainer in the healing arts and human development for over 15 years. My friend and colleague, Deborah Kagan (author, speaker, “Mojo Recovery Specialist”) and I are hearing many of the same things from women:  There seems to be a concern around being seen. So many women WANT to be seen, but are afraid or unwilling to stand in their full light. They feel like their bodies are “in the way.”  The catch 22 is that’s exactly what’s needed to create a life you desire. It’s what’s needed when you are looking to enhance your relationships. It’s what’s needed when you are taking the next career move. It’s what’s needed when you want to have daily vitality and enthusiasm. It’s about being fully embodied and comfortable in your own skin.  This is where the “higher version” of sensuality exists.  It’s real, it’s special, it’s spiritual – and it’s a core piece of your true essence.  It is completely separate from sexuality!   In this episode: What’s your personal “mojo”?   What’s it really like to be fully embodied in your feminine sensual sovereignty?  (as opposed to putting yourself aside to attract or please a partner) What does research in quantum physics show us about the “energy behind the energy”? (also known as The God Particle, which aligns with our inner presence and essence)   What are some ways we can instantly connect to our creative life force?   Check out the full episode page here.  Here’s some exciting news: Deborah and I have separate events in October that will give you the opportunity to transform your experience of being a woman and letting your full embodiment enhance every aspect of your life.  Deb’s LIVE event is guaranteed to knock you alive. This is a first for me – a totally unscripted, unedited episode.  (And since the podcast began, only the second one I’ve recorded solo.)  I share some personal and sacred musings and experiences that led me on a powerfully unexpected journey, culminating in a dissolution and “unraveling” of who I thought I was and what I thought I knew.  This mysterious historical woman, Mary Magdalene…why the fascination with her? What does she represent? Why is she making a comeback in our day and age? What did she know? I lay it all out in this recording – what drew me in, captivated me and illuminated a new way of thinking, feeling and becoming.  Since my girlhood, my search for the Sacred Feminine and understanding the eternal role and destiny of womanhood has been relentless. It’s only taken a mere 50 years for me to finally start to really see it, understand it, and honor it for what it is. Mary Magdalene? She authentically embodied it. In this episode: What is The Gospel of Mary Magdalene, how old is it and how did we get it?  Is it a legitimate sacred text? (spoiler alert: YES) According to early Christian art and writings, what were the “7 Demons” cast out of her? (another spoiler: not actually demons)     What is the greatest hunger we have as humans and why is this hunger often overlooked, downplayed, even frowned upon in many spiritual organizations, systems, religions, and institutions? (spoiler #3: it’s about soul sovereignty) What is the ultimate spiritual practice that Jesus taught Mary Magdalene, which she then tried to teach the other apostles after his death? (aaand the last spoiler: she knew how to access the Kingdom Within)         Come journey with us OCTOBER 24-26, 2019 at the Stand Speak Shine Retreat: “EMBODYING THE FEMININE DIVINE”  Details here!  Check out the full episode page here. Robin Young (also known by her pen name, Mari Clairveaux) is an avid researcher who has extensively studied the Divine Feminine in Ancient Egyptian and Early Christian eras.  Her deep-dive exploration into Joseph of Egypt (“coat of many colors”) and his wife Aseneth opened up incredible insights into “divine couple” parity in Earth’s earliest civilizations.  Jesus and Mary Magdalene, it is believed by many researchers, also followed this male/female equality spiritual leadership model.  Mine and Robin’s discussion revolves around women being traditionally been less visible in most cultures, based on early divisions in belief systems that resulted in male-centric authority.  Yet, as we open our “eyes to see” – we will realize that The Divine Feminine has been hiding in plain sight all along. In this episode: How does the Gospel of Mary Magdalene show us the Pattern of Female Ascension?   How did Mary Magdalene help Christ to “fulfill the Law” and why isn’t this discussed more in religious settings? 029:  Mary Magdalene Pt 2: Reclaiming Your Power & Identity After Abuse  What does the reclamation of power and identity have to do with Mary M? Oh goodness, where to start?! The Gospel of Mary Magdalene was part of the discovery of the Nag Hammadi ancient Christian texts, referenced as the Gnostic Gospels.  In these texts, Mary was referred to as “apostle to the apostles.” Yet, she’s been written right out of Christian history and has been the target of systemic patriarchal disassociation. Until now – the new era of the Feminine. Amber Richardson a scholar/researcher of feminist critical theory, is the podcast host of “On Sovereign Wings: For Women Seeking to Reclaim Their Power” and is the author of the soon-to-be released Woman, Crowned.  In this episode: Is it possible Christ communed with Female Deity/Heavenly Mother in His wilderness experiences and in the Garden of Gethsemane? What is our Mother actually like?  I mean, is She some docile, subservient, stand-in-the-background, soft, meek being? (You probably know where we’re going with that one!)  How can a Female Deity/Heavenly Mother be communed with during times of darkness and struggle – and in Amber’s case, when repressed memories surface? How can you raise the frequency in your heart as a means to heal from abuse?       Check out Amber’s work and her website “Healing wasn’t meant to be complicated!” Check out the full episode page here. And who better to start us out most epically than my new soul sister, Sera Beak.  She is an author, speaker and Harvard-trained theologian… and a powerful Divine Feminine mystic and scholar. As we’ll discuss in this episode, Mary Magdalene was the most named and most present at all major events in the life of Christ – so why has she been edged out of mainstream Christianity? The Gnostic Gospels call her “apostle to the apostles.”  Again, why has her voice been squelched?             In this episode: Trusting innate wisdom: Sera explains, “Your soul knows exactly what she is doing.” The Real Jesus/the Real Magdalene as the embodiments of the Divine Masculine/Sacred Feminine Establishing your soul voice while the Rise of the Feminine is upon is (and sisters…it IS upon us!) One of her life purposes as a mother, a woman of faith and a journalist is to shine a light on the desperate, dark, and lonely reality faced by those who struggle with clinical depression. Jane shares her own difficult experiences, along with others – particularly in the sociocultural context of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons). Suicide is the leading cause of death for Utahns ages 10 to 17 and ages 18 to 24. It is the second leading cause of death for ages 25 to 44 and the fourth-leading cause of death for ages 45-64.  Utah’s Public Health Indicator Based Information System reports, “Completed suicides are only part of the problem. More people are hospitalized or treated in an emergency room for suicide attempts than are fatally injured. Nithya Shanti - internationally acclaimed spiritual teacher from India - has personally mentored me through some of my most intense life experiences! He’s a former Buddhist Monk and Ambassador of Conscious Living, who also holds an MBA. When I first met him about 6 years ago, I was struck with his very joyful countenance and peaceful way of being.  You will love his depth of wisdom and his amazing insight! One of his favorite things to say - in pretty much ANY circumstance- is, “How Wonderful.” In this episode: What is “Spiritual Bypassing”? What are the 3 Levels of Truth? How do we become as a “Serene Lake” in a stressful world? He even addresses the age-old question from every truth seeker, of every faith tradition, “WHERE IS GOD?”  (particularly in times of acute trauma, loss or abuse). Here’s a truth bomb Nithya recently shared with me: “If I accept the fact that my relationships are here to make me conscious, instead of happy, then my relationships become a wonderful SELF MASTERY TOOL that keeps re-aligning me with my higher purpose for living.”    Eckhart Tolle He has free content to read, watch and listen to on his website. https://nithyashanti.com/ Check out the full episode page HERE.  Follow me on Facebook.
