Ben Passmore closes out this season of The Truth in This Art.Ben Passmore (DAYGLOAYHOLE, Your Black Friend, Sports Is Hell, BTTM FDRS; contributor to The Nib) joins Rob Lee to discuss his new book, Black Arms to Hold You Up.An Ignatz and Eisner Award-winning cartoonist whose work ranges from the fantastical to the autobiographical, Passmore brings sharp, often humorous social commentary on politics, activism, white supremacy, sports, and the Black American experience. In this episode, Passmore shares the story behind Black Arms to Hold You Up—why he chose graphic nonfiction, how he approached making it, and the care required when drawing real people and histories. He breaks down craft decisions that make complex ideas legible without flattening them, and how he balances clarity, intention, and voice. The conversation also digs into audience and context: making art in rooms where you're often the only Black person, how perception shifts outside community, and what cultural moments reveal about how we frame Black artists. It's about how comics can carry culture, memory, and critique—connecting personal storytelling to broader histories while inviting readers to keep learning.Topics Covered:Exploring intent, process, and responsibility in nonfiction comics with Black Arms to Hold You UpWorking across fantastical and autobiographical modes with social commentaryNavigating audience, context, and perception in art spacesMaking complex ideas accessible without losing nuanceMake the conversation count: buy Black Arms to Hold You Up. Passmore's new graphic nonfiction holds contradiction with care, keeps the humor respectful, and carries history without flattening it. Philosopher Stefan Molyneux examines the philosophical implications of postmodernism, particularly its rejection of objective truth and the resulting moral relativism. He discusses the concept of "hallucination" in artificial intelligence as a metaphor for balancing creativity and utility. By critiquing the decline of rational thought, Stefan highlights its impact on contemporary societal debates, especially regarding race and gender. He warns that without universal moral principles and rational discourse, society risks falling into chaos, emphasizing the need for a return to objective standards.SUBSCRIBE TO ME ON X! https://x.com/StefanMolyneuxFollow me on Youtube! https://www.youtube.com/@freedomain1GET MY NEW BOOK 'PEACEFUL PARENTING', THE INTERACTIVE PEACEFUL PARENTING AI, AND THE FULL AUDIOBOOK!https://peacefulparenting.com/Join the PREMIUM philosophy community on the web for free!Subscribers get 12 HOURS on the "Truth About the French Revolution," multiple interactive multi-lingual philosophy AIs trained on thousands of hours of my material - as well as AIs for Real-Time Relationships, Bitcoin, Peaceful Parenting, and Call-In Shows! You also receive private livestreams, HUNDREDS of exclusive premium shows, early release podcasts, the 22 Part History of Philosophers series and much more!See you soon!https://freedomain.locals.com/support/promo/UPB2025

Pastor Nikki Cody's sermon “It's Time to Awaken the Warhorses” is a prophetic call for the Church to wake up to truth in a culture of deception and to step into the 2025 mandate of Radical Love. Drawing from Jeremiah 1, she teaches that believers are appointed, equipped, and commanded to speak God's Word with boldness, resisting fear, confusion, and compromise. She reveals the “warhorse” as a picture of the believer trained in pressure, unbothered in battle, fixed on Jesus, anchored in Scripture, and carrying the victory Christ has already won. Through vulnerability about her own battles, she emphasizes that God forms warhorses in hidden obedience, resistance, and devotion to His voice, calling the Church to rise with courage, steadiness, and unwavering allegiance to the Truth.

Love to hear from you; “Send us a Text Message”Beauty isn't a filter on life; it's a way to understand it, and ourselves. Jack sits down with Artist-photographer and author Erik Stensland to explore how a season of crushing burnout in the Balkans led him toward solitude, quiet attention, and a life reoriented by wonder in Rocky Mountain National Park. Together we unpack why silence feels unbearable at first, why many of us would rather hit the metaphorical shock button than face our inner world, and how a simple practice—ten phone-free minutes in a forest—can begin to settle the mind. Eric explains the difference between loneliness and chosen solitude, and how beauty, understood as goodness rather than glamour, becomes a practical guide for daily decisions. We also dive into desire: not suppressing it, not indulging it, but tracing it to the deeper longing for meaning, belonging, and purpose. If environmental news leaves you frozen, EriK offers a third path beyond doom and denial. Inspired by John Muir, he shows how falling in love with places fuels lasting care and healing... paying attention, telling small stories, buying less.Ready to test it for yourself? Put the phone away, take a quiet walk, and notice one true thing. If this conversation moves you, follow, share with a friend who needs a breath of fresh air, and leave a review so more people can find their way back to beauty.Visit Erik and Purchase "The Journey Beyond, Learning to Live Beautifully in a Troubled World" and the shipping is free:)Read Jack's Latest "Directing Our Passions and Desires to a Love that is Beautiful" Here are the links to Jack's Substack and X https://x.com/JP2RenewalCheck out the Podcast on YouTubeContact me: info@jp2renew.orgSupport the show
Nancy Wilson's been in the news a lot this year -- jamming live with Chappell Roan on a badass cover of Heart's hit song "Barracuda"; having beloved instruments stolen in Atlantic City; and, along with sister Ann, pulling Heart's songs off Amazon Music to protest Jeff Bezo's coziness with Donald Trump. When El Presidente called the Wilsons "a pair of aging rockers desperate for relevance." When he went douchy, they went classy, stating simply, "Truth doesn't age, and neither does courage." 'Nuff said. In this episode, Nancy speaks truth about the cocaine fueled, big hair era of the 80s; the hazards of choosing a band as your family business and dating your bandmates; and the realities of being a woman in the music business for 50 years. “If the computer gets smarter than me… is that a problem?” Joe Rockey and Father Boniface Hicks tackle the fear narrative around AI by comparing it to other powerful tools (cars, planes) that required strong safeguards—not panic. They explore why AI lacks moral intuition, how optimization without ethics can harm, and why deepfakes and spoofing demand new habits of verification. The conversation lands in the three lenses: honesty about our fears (self), charity through wiser trust and presence (others), under a living relationship with God that anchors what's real.Key IdeasPower needs guardrails: like aviation checklists and redundancies, AI calls for safety, oversight, and clear human control.Limits of machines: AI optimizes; it doesn't intuit, repent, or take responsibility—persons do.Edge cases matter: “no-win” moments (e.g., deer vs. car) reveal why human moral criteria must shape algorithms.Deception risk: voice/video/text imitation raises the bar for validation; adopt healthy skepticism and confirm identity more often.Back to reality: prioritize embodied relationships and parish life; let the Church help form attention, virtue, and trust.Links & References (none explicitly cited in this episode)CTA If this helped, please leave a review or share this episode with a friend.Questions or thoughts? This special episode of Rhetoricity features a roundtable that also serves as the "Afterwords" for a forthcoming collection entitled Rhetoric Before and Beyond Post-Truth. That collection is edited by Scott Sundvall, Caddie Alford, and Ira Allen and will be published by the University of Pittsburgh Press in 2026. The featured panelists are James Ball, Barbara Biesecker, Omedi Ochieng, Robin Reames, and Ryan Skinnell. See below for more detailed bios of the panelists. The roundtable focuses on key questions from Rhetoric Before and Beyond Post-Truth: what we mean by "post-truth," how it intersects with rhetoric, and what challenges that intersection poses for us in the world to come. James Ball is an award-winning journalist, broadcaster, and author, a fellow of the think tank Demos, and the political editor of The New European. Ball also played a key role in The Guardian's Pulitzer Prize-winning coverage of the NSA leaks by Edward Snowden. He is the author of multiple books, including Post-Truth and The Tangled Web We Weave: Inside The Shadow System That Shapes the Internet. Send us a textThe main idea that drives the Apostle John's first letter is fellowship with God. He makes this clear when he starts his letter. "What we have seen and heard we also declare to you, so that you may also have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. 1 John 1:3 He then addresses the need for knowing the truth about God as light and the truth about our sin as a necessity for true fellowship to exist. He presents 3 false ideas that some have. If we assert the believes that sin is a non entity or that humans do not have a sinful nature or that we have not actually sinned we are not speaking according to truth. We lie about the reality of sin and human nature and actually call God himself a liar! With repentance that is a change in our mind about our sin and God the holy righteous One who has acted on our behalf we can know fellowship with God through Jesus atoning death. John presents Jesus work as the corrective for these false beliefs. " If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. v9 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. v7John is a realist and says, My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 1 John 2:2At the letter's conclusion John writes, I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life. 1 John 5:13Bible Insights with Wayne ConradContact: 8441 Hunnicut Rd Dallas, Texas 75228email: Att. From the "Living in the Truth" podcast with Joe Granieri, offering a sermon-style teaching that focuses on God's extravagant goodness and the concept of a "hundredfold blessing." Joe uses anecdotes, such as children singing at Yellowstone, and scriptural references—like the story of Isaac in Genesis 26 and New Testament verses—to emphasize themes of faith, divine promise, and the power of the Holy Spirit. Joe encourages listeners to overcome life's "famines" by embracing God's grace and prosperity, asserting that believers should not limit God through incorrect perspectives or lack of faith. The message culminates by urging believers to maintain an eternal perspective and live with kindness and generosity, which unlocks the overflowing blessing promised by God.
Joshua 3recounts the Israelites' crossing of the Jordan River, where they consecrated themselves in preparation for a miracle. As the priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant stepped into the river, the water stopped flowing upstream, and the entire nation crossed to the Promised Land on dry ground. This event demonstrated God's power and faithfulness, with the priests remaining in the river until everyone had crossed. Preparation: Before crossing, Joshua told the people to "consecrate yourselves" because the Lord was going to perform wonders. The Crossing: At Joshua's command, the priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant stepped into the flooding Jordan River. The Miracle: As soon as their feet touched the water, the river stopped flowing upstream at the city of Adam, allowing the entire nation of Israel to cross on dry ground.Symbolism: The miracle was a sign to the people that God was with them and would help them conquer the land, fulfilling His promises.Lasting Memorial: After the crossing, Joshua instructed the people to take twelve stones from the riverbed to create a memorial for future generations to remember this event. Anxiety is rising among President Trump's staunchest allies that he's politically lost his way. The New York Times reports that his advisers fear he's alienating key voters in his own coalition. And CNN reports that some Republicans are openly warning the White House that the GOP is in trouble in the midterm elections. Meanwhile, Trump just erupted in a furious new tirade about the Jeffrey Epstein fiasco. In it, he ordered Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate Epstein's ties to Democrats. Bondi immediately did his bidding. That Trump has now formally turned the Justice Department loose in this way shows his anger over Epstein has hit new highs. Some Republicans say all these things are related: Trump is so consumed with Epstein that he's letting everything else go to hell. So we talked to analyst Michael Cohen, who has a good new piece on Trump's doldrums on his Truth and Consequences Substack. He explains why Epstein is undoing Trump, how the MAGA coalition is fracturing, how deeper structural factors are working against him, and how it will all impact the midterms. What is God's will for humanity? Is it found in Genesis 1 and 2, or does Genesis 3 reveal something deeper? In this episode, Mike and Tim tackle "The Mystery of God's Will" by unpacking Genesis 3 and exploring how God's ideal will contrasts with the realities of a fallen world. With a focus on themes like cruciformity, faith, and navigating cultural challenges, the conversation dives into questions about suffering, the role of ideologies, and how theology shapes our understanding of justice and faith. The hosts discuss how God's will operates within suboptimal conditions, the complexities of prayer, and how Jesus challenges simplistic moral frameworks. They also examine the role of the church in society and the intersections of faith and politics, offering insights on how Christians can engage with cultural issues while holding space for mystery, tension, and humility in their faith. Join the conversation as they challenge common assumptions about God's nature, human suffering, and the role of theology in understanding our world. Engage with the discussion, share your thoughts, and send in your questions—we'd love to hear from you as we pursue these important conversations together! In Mark 14, we read that as the time for Jesus' crucifixion drew near, a woman came to Him and anointed His head with an alabaster flask of precious oil. While this heartfelt act of worship provoked the disciples' disapproval, Jesus celebrated her for doing “a beautiful thing.” Alistair Begg surveys the woman's action, the disciples' reaction, and Jesus' commendation, helping us to see that the only true pathway to lasting honor is to honor Christ.
