Robot Heart started with a simple sound system on an old double-decker bus at Black Rock City. Over the years, it has evolved into a bespoke sound system, light arrays, iconic art, and an all-star lineup of musical talent performing to massive crowds at sunrise on Playa.… all on that same old double-decker bus. Robot Heart also expanded its support of arts and artists beyond the playa, including New York's Central Park, Miami's Art Basel, and their residency program in Oakland, California. For the 2nd year in a row, the team brings together various Burning Man camps, artists, and musicians April 25th to May 18th.A few years ago, Robot Heart created a 501c3 Foundation to make all this happen. Stuart talks with President, Gary Mueller, and Board Members Clare Laverty and Justin Shaffer. Show Notes This week Sandi D. talks with Dr. Helena Liu, a scholar based in Sydney, Australia. Her area of expertise is intersectional feminism with a focus on social justice research and education. Her newly launched blog, Disorient.co, is an invaluable resource for intersectional feminist thought, education, and activism. This episode was recorded the week of the US presidential elections. At that time, it was expected that Biden-Harris won, but as of this episode release, #45 still has not conceded the election. Dr. Liu and I touch on systemic racism and politics in the US. Join us and listen to this episode to find out what unfortunate event served as a catalyst for Dr. Liu’s blog. We talk about the importance of validating one’s experience of injustice and the effects of gaslighting. (to download - press "More" button / description below) Friends, some of you will be surprised to know that i play not only downtempo music :) I hope is a good surprise. This mix was at Burning Man 2016 at Disorient camp. This burn was great for me, and i was happy to spend 2 weeks in the desert and play this set on Friday 5 am. For my personal taste, techno music was not well represented at Burning Man, and i was glad to play a bit harder, more groovy and bassy techno rave set. I would add some music tags to explain what is inside “minimal / rave / psychedelic / pumpy”. You can consider this as my Techno music demo. As you know, i am totally and fully in love in psychedelic chillout / ambient music, and this will stay the main focus of my project and this soundcloud page. Below there is some more interesting information about this mix and my musical background. ----------------------- Gagarin Beats is a dance floor oriented project name of Gagarin. Psychedelic, Mind expanding music for transcendental dance experience ...... this is music for your body, your mind and your soul. We are one ! contact / booking: www.facebook.com/gagarinproject gagarin -AT- gagarinproject.org ----------------------- Gagarin Musical Background: I have been listening to all kind of different music, in the end 90s i discovered clubbing and had very interesting experience on dance floor (techno / jungle / dnb). Since that time i regularly attended clubs, raves, free parties, squats, warehouses all over the world. I love to dance to electronic music. in the 2008-2010 i discovered psy chillout music on the internet and few years later i had my first psychedelic festival experience and discovered trance. With time i started to understand and feel better psychedelic trance music. Still, I have to say that there is only a VERY small fraction of the psytrance music that i enjoy. So even i attend main floor, i rarely stay there long :) And i would rarely go to a party with no chillout stage. As for Techno music, i also have troubles in finding the one i really like, and i rarely go out to listen to other artist and DJ's playing. As all my previous "psybient / psychill" mixes published here, this is a live mix, recorded from 1st take and there is no editing except for a “Gagarin Project” voice sample that i added to protect this mix from being played by other DJs. Believe me strange things happen in this world. Tracklist available on request. See you in chill or on dance floor ! When the people responsible for telling you lies and brainwash you, admit to doing it, will you believe them? Pope Francis said the following: "It is not necessary to believe in God to be a good person. It a way, the traditional notion of God is outdated. One can be spiturial but not religious. It is not necessary to go to church and give money - for many, nature can be a church. Some of the best people inn history did not believe in God, while some of the worse deeds were done in His name. What do you make of that admission by the man who heads the fraudulent modern church which brgan as a movement in Jerusalem. ,An institution in Rome and a philosophy in Greece-- a culture in Europe. And when it came to America it became a business--a highly profitable business. Consider all of that folly and go back to the realism of human life--world history.

DJs Shakey and Barney ILLer have a combined total of 20 years of Burning Man experience under their belts, and breakbeat on the playa has been a huge influence on them since the beginning. As long-time fans of Space Cowboys, they are very excited to join in on the RIPEcast action and represent for New York. "Breaks" encompasses a wide spectrum of music out east, and Shakey and Barney iLLer have tried to cover a lot of that territory in this week's mix -- with funky breaks, funky house, Baltimore club, ghetto breaks, ragga, hip-hop, rare groove, and jungle. DJ Shakey is a professional DJ and staple of the Manhattan and Brooklyn underground scenes. She stays dedicated to both new-school and old-school culture, simultaneously running The Warper Party, New York's biggest electronic music showcase, and also vinyl diggers' favorite Shakey's Record Fair. Shakey has a legendary record collection, and is a contributing writer at Controllerism.com. Together with Barney iLLer, Shakey recently had funky breaks remixes presented through Boogie Boutique (UK), and was featured on Jon Kwest's Winter Moombah Conference compilation. They have played major venues across the world, including The Room in Tokyo, Sound Channel and Union in Osaka, and the Button Factory in Dublin. Barney Iller is the renaissance man of DJs, playing and producing just about any genre you can think of. He's recently produced an album cut for MC Zulu coming out this year, and a ghetto breaks track for Dutch-Caribbean group Kuenta i Tambu. As his tropical alias Guapo Feo, he's released remixes recently for Gato Preto and DJ Tack & DJ Tamalero through TropicalBass records, and was recently featured on the compilation Rot10 Invades Miami vol. 2.
