Leave me a fan note ❤️Hellloo my favorite people (shhhh, don't let the Youtube people hear)!I have missed you so bad. I have also missed recording audio content so bad. I feel like since I got comfortable with Youtube, I've found it hard to come back to creating for my podcast. I want to make a promise that I will be back with a new episode/season soon but I've found myself making too many promises on delivering content (especially for my blog on Medium) so I best be careful. Anyhoo, I've missed you, and for now, I'm back with the last podcast episode for Season 4! And nostalgically, the last one I recorded while I was in New York City.In this episode, Maureen and I discuss her transition from Nigeria to the UK, where she is building a flourishing career in People and Change Consulting, while also mentoring and offering guidance to others in their career paths at her career coaching outfit, Intentional Strides. We fondly reminisce on our school days, the mischief and camaraderie that formed the bedrock of our friendship, and share how our friendship has thrived miles apart for the past 16 years! We also reminisce about our school activism ventures and the rebellious spirit that sometimes landed us in hot water but taught us invaluable lessons. You can listen to/watch more about our activism days here. Since I'll be moving to the UK in January 2025, I thought to sit with Maureen and learn everything I need to know before my big move to London, UK! Whether you're planning a move abroad, seeking career advice, or simply looking to hear heartwarming tales of friendship, this episode is for you! Emily: Would you like to come over for a cuppa? Raquel: Is that like a cupcake or something sweet? Emily: Oh no, a cuppa is just a cup of tea. But I can offer you some cake if you like. Raquel: Sure, I'd love a cuppa and some cake. Get the full transcript on my website: speakenglishpodcast.com/285-how-to-make-a-cup-of-tea/ As you already noticed, I love drinking tea, and last week I talked about the history of tea in the UK. But if you're not sure about tea or think you might not like it, don't worry. I'm here to introduce you to different types of tea. I'm sure we can find one you'll really enjoy. And, of course, I'll show you how to make a British cuppa. By the way, you can say 'a cuppa' instead of 'a cup of tea.' People in some places use it a lot. For example, someone might say, 'When I'm tired, I enjoy having a cuppa to relax.' Hi, everyone! I'm Georgiana, your English teacher, and my mission is to help you speak English fluently. On my website you can get the 5 Secrets to speak English and also my premium courses. Before we start, get the transcript on my website. It's completely free. Visit: SpeakEnglishPodcast.com/podcast Ok, let's start! In the UK, people enjoy drinking many different kinds of tea. However, the most popular tea in the UK is black tea. Black Tea: People often put milk and sometimes sugar in it. Some famous black teas are English Breakfast Tea, Earl Grey, Lady Grey, Assam, and Darjeeling. Green Tea: is not as popular as black tea in the UK, but some people like it. It's healthy and comes from Japan and China. Herbal teas, such as peppermint and chamomile, are caffeine-free and come in various flavors. People enjoy them because they can have a calming effect. Fruit Chai Chai tea has spices like cinnamon and ginger. Trust me, it's delicious when you add milk and sugar. White Tea: isn't as standard, but some people enjoy it. It's light and has a subtle taste. Oolong Tea: is like black and green tea. And it comes in different flavors. Rooibos Tea: is a caffeine-free tea from South Africa. It has a gentle, sweet, and earthy taste, often with hints of vanilla or honey. In the UK, you can also find specialty blends; teas with unique flavors like flowers, spices, and much more. Kymberly Kelly M.S., L.Ac. is an acupuncturist and herbalist practicing in New York City for the past 15 years. She specializes in women's health and fertility, and also sees general conditions such as anxiety, digestive problems, pain, headaches, allergies, insomnia and immune issues. I met Kymberly 8 or 9 years ago, as I was seeking support in staying pregnant... Following a series of miscarriages I took a multi-prong approach and integrated Eastern and Western medicine into my protocol, she was a key player in my wellness tribe. Kymberly is the sweet and warm, and I swear she has magic hands! After finishing college and living in South America for a few years, she returned to the States to study Chinese Medicine, and completed her studies in California before moving to New York and starting her practice. When she's not working in the clinic, you can find her in the mountains doing some trail riding or sitting under a shady tree, pretending to read a book. For appointments and please visit her website renwellness.com, and for great seasonal practical advice please visit Kymberly's blog. KYMBERLY'S FAVORITES Keep my sanity essentials: English Breakfast Tea, Comfy Pajamas, InstaPups Videos, Comedy podcasts or watching standup comedy. These things either are comforting or make me laugh! Favorite workout is definitely trail riding on my bike! But when I can't get out of the city, I go to the pilates studio in my neighborhood for reformer classes. Non-negotiable self care ritual is Acupuncture of course! I do body treatments to keep myself healthy and Cosmetic acupuncture to keep my skin looking good! I also make sleep a priority.   (It's almost a joke with people who know me!) You can fall into a rut of skimping on an hour here or there when things get busy, but I really make time for it and put it into my schedule like any thing else.   I find that if I get enough sleep and get regular acupuncture tune-ups, my body runs well, I almost never get sick, and feel good overall. Family advice… My parents have always taken very good care of themselves. Before it was trendy, my mother was very aware of the importance of healthy food and both of my parents have exercised regularly their whole lives- and it shows! They are in such great health! They have plenty of energy to do the things they want, they aren't on any medications and are generally vibrant, happy people. It's something to aspire to!

Today's episode is with Nicole Deponte and Erin Myles, co-owners of Asterluxe, a beautiful and badass shop in Providence, Rhode Island. Both women owned businesses prior to opening Asterluxe and they connected over their shared experiences with being self-employed. What grew from this rather serendipitous meeting was a mutual desire to create something new in their neighborhood that would build and encourage community. When a bright, sunny space opened up, Erin and Nicole took the leap and opened their shop which they describe as being "a little witchy, a little feministy with a focus on wellness and self care." Yes, please.  In this episode, we explore the balance between running multiple business and making sure each partner remains happy and fulfilled throughout the process. We talk about how they've structured their company in ways that work for them and about keeping the focus on building community, not making a million dollars (although they'd take that too!).  We chat about Erin and Nicole's core mission to bring tranquility and peace to the people that come into their space and we touch on the harder stuff like what's currently stumping them about marketing their business. They tell me what gets them out of bed in morning and Nicole and I geek out about our shared addiction to English Breakfast Tea. These women were wonderful to talk to. Definitely check them out on Instagram and visit their shop when you're in Providence (address is 381 Broadway, Providence, RI)  Enjoy this episode! We talk about:  -How a transitional time in their individual businesses led to the rather serendipitous opening of Asterluxe.  -How Erin and Nicole completely self funded their business and why a loan might have created more desperation and less creativity.  -When to ignore advice and just go with your gut when you're starting your business. -How the Women's March solidified their dedication to carrying "edgier" more resistance driven stock (BOOBS!). -Sourcing from the people within your existing tribe to help you open and grow the business.  -Being on the same page in structuring their business around their lives and on their own terms.  -Tips for collaborating and "teaming up" with other women owned businesses as a marketing tool and a way to collectively serve the community.  -How they organize their lives through to-do lists, spreadsheets and using Siri as a PA. -Why being surrounding by creative energy keeps them going and excited about their businesses.  -Thoughts on how being an artist can be isolating, but how owning a brick and mortar keeps them connected to the community. Enjoy the show! Please consider subscribing, rating and reviewing. Thanks!

Doing an all feedback episode to get caught up on all the wonderful things y'all send our way.    00:00:00 -  Garrett, who doesn't identify his hair color, and seems to think we know a lot about science immediately finds our weak spot by asking about genetics. Specifically, he wants to know if redheads are in danger of going extinct. This leads to a surprisingly long discussion about the origins of redhair. Plus you'll learn once and for all which of the paleopals have red hair in their beards, even if they don't have any on their head.    00:22:32 - Since humanity evolved, there have been drinks. Though some recent evidence suggests animals may have been drinking even before humans. Patrick goes first because he thinks he finally found a beer Ryan hasn't had. It's a Dead Rising from Flying Dog and he's also wrong. Sorry, Patrick. Ben is enjoying some Irish Breakfast Tea, which is supposedly much better than English Breakfast Tea. And Ryan is having a beer he made for a class three years ago. It has not aged well, but does lead to a nice discussion of stable isotopes.   00:33:02 - For our second segment we have an awesome e-mail from Nami who shares a special kinship with Ben. She has suggested a few stories for us to cover. The first is about converting stellar radiance patterns into sound waves, essentially every star is singing a different song, which is really neat. The second is about using two people's brains instead of one to control a spacecraft simulation. DRIFTING PEOPLE. Are Ben and Ryan drift compatible? You'll have to listen to find out.    00:57:46 - PaleoPOWs are a lot like shows full of paleoPOWs, in that they're both composed of listener feedback. Ben goes first with an e-mail from South African listener Gerhard R. He teaches us some Afrikaans and promotes some local African brews. Ryan then gets sidetracked talking about a recent dig we went to at Natural Trap Cave in Wyoming. Were any camel leopards found? Who knows. Once Ryan refocuses and actually finds his paleoPOW he thanks recurring donor Adam K. who has a request. Adam K. would like to use his donation to sponsor all future quotes and references to Jurassic Park. Challenge accepted, hold onto your butts. Ryan then gets distracted again talking about Pokemon. Ben joins in until Patrick remembers that the show isn't actually over yet and forces us to listen to his paleoPOW. His is from Neece of WV, who caught a Brachiolope in the act of riding a velocipede (we had to look up what that was too). She was able to immortalize the image which you can now purchase from her Etsy and/or Redbubble store, as well as view it in the always impressive Brachiolope Gallery!     Thanks for listening and be sure to check out the Brachiolope Media Network for more great science podcasts!     Music for this week's show: Red Headed Stranger - Willie Nelson Have a Cuppa Tea - The Kinks Pacific Rim (feat.
