If you are overwhelmed with all the demands of social media as it pertains to your business, you are not alone! Besides running a full-service design business and hosting a full podcast schedule, Joann and I also do our own social media. Yes, we have pondered the notion of contracting this out, but we are too committed to our authenticity to embrace the idea of handing it over to a third party… so here we sit.  TikTok is a platform that we have yet to fully jump on board with and that will probably actually change after today's episode. Our guest Lauren Moore is a content strategist who helps brands find their voice and grow their online presence for business results. Today Lauren is going to talk to us about why TikTok can help you grow your Instagram following and how her side-hustle book club went viral. Her work has notably increased the organic reach of clients, including major brands like MTV, Campbell's, and Subaru, contributing to more than 12 million combined follower growth. In collaboration with Phil Pallen Collective, she has strategically guided and grown more than 350 brands globally. Lauren is the founder of @BookHuddle, a vibrant community of 130k book enthusiasts that hosts reading retreats across North America. She believes anyone can achieve their dreams with hard work and an open mind. Today Lauren is going to talk to us about why TikTok can help you grow your Instagram following and how her side-hustle book club went viral. SPONSOR: This episode is sponsored by High Point Market Authority – the only market that needs no introduction. You all know by now that we consider High Point Market to be the pinnacle even in our industry where industry standards are set and future trends are forecasted.  Spring Market 2024 is April 13th-17th and registration is now open. We've got some big announcements to share direct from the source: A. The Goo Goo Dolls will be the headliner band for the Sunday night concert.  B. Bunny Williams will be one of the Keynote Speakers on Sunday at 3pm.  C. There will be two other big keynote speakers announced but a little birdie told us that a certain Magnolia Network Star will be returning to the High Point Stage. That is all we can say for now! So be sure to go to Highpointmarket.org to register and get your hotel rooms now! If you've never been to High Point before, feel free to reach out to us with questions or listen to the episodes 158, 166 and 172 just to name a few. KEY TAKEAWAYS: 1.  The most important thing you can do to be successful on TikTok is to build a community of people that feel included and seen.   2.  Not all video needs your voice. Words laid over a video can be just as powerful.  3.  It's amazing the energy you can muster after a long day to promote a true passion on social media.  BIO:  Kandrac & Kole was voted one of Atlanta's Top 20 Residential Interior Designers by the Atlanta Business Chronicle and has been featured on HGTV as well as in The New York Times, Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles, Better Homes & Gardens, Southern Home Magazine. SHOW NOTES Trends come and go, and they influence us whether we realize it or not. In this episode, we talk about what's IN and what's OUT for 2024, how to balance new trends with updated classics, and how to know when it's time for a refresh. 1.    SPONSOR We source a lot of Norwalk furniture in our projects for a number of reasons, one being that Norwalk builds heirloom quality furniture rather than landfill quality furniture. You know what that is also called? Sustainable! Doing their part to create healthy homes and environments is a core principle at Norwalk and we want to be a part of that. Another reason is that, unlike many other manufacturers, Norwalk has a particularly fabulous array of patterns and bright, fun fabrics to partner with performance fabrics, leathers, and textures like boucle and velvet. If you are in the Trade, you really must be sourcing Norwalk Furniture. Check out their website – norwalkfurniture.com and especially their 360-Design tool to help visualize pieces. They are now shipping in under 8 weeks! Key Take Aways: 1.    Learn what classic items stand the test of time and what to spend your money on. 2.    Why wellness and restoration is so important and how to create it in your home. 3.    How many years you can get by before it's time to update your furnishings. You have gift questions, and we have gift answers! Welcome to part one of our second-annual gift guide, where you’ll find so much cool stuff from small businesses (many run by women and BIPOC!), no Amazon links (but you do you), and thoughts on orgs to donate to, too. Part two is coming next week, and last year’s still-relevant installments are here and here. Now, hope you’re prepared for an outrageously long episode recap...   PARENTS! My mom has requested “a new hobby” for Christmas which has sent me spinning. Any ideas? She’s very artsy and already gardens and writes fiction. Knitting hasn’t worked for her due to her arthritis, and she’s a lifelong hater of kitchen activities, most of the cute gifty hobby kits I’ve seen fall into those categories. Stumped!  Joone Creative air-dry ceramics tiles kit Rose Pearlman punch needle hoop kit The Crafter’s Box arm-knitting workshop Melanie Abrantes Japanese bowl-carving kit   Fic & non-fic books that will nudge my parents to the left without them realizing it. Hasn’t finished reading the books he got for Father’s Day but he loves history. Does a lot of biking on his indoor trainer. He has an Apple Watch but we aren’t allowed to get him AirPods because my mom thinks he’ll accidentally put them through the laundry. He likes food/eating/cooking but had a heart attack 3 years ago so we’re not allowed to do fun things (unless they’re low sodium/cholesterol). Usually I try to find an activity (movie, bike, ride to brewery, etc.) but covid makes that hard. So many restrictions!! Claire puts her airpods through the laundry all the time and they still work! She is (and strongly identifies) as an Aries. She is a platinum-rewards-level business traveler and boss babe entrepreneur in the music industry. We get along great, but we literally could not be more different and I am ALWAYS stuck on gifts for her.
