On today's episode of Good Guy/Bad Guy, Daniel & Chael recap an exciting UFC 320 that saw Alex Pereira regain his light heavyweight title in emphatic fashion... What did Poatan's performance this past weekend, tell us about the first encounter between he and Ankalaev back in March? With Pereira reigning atop the LHW division once again, will it be Jiri Prochazka or Carlos Ulberg next for him... or will it be the G.O.A.T Jon Jones? Chael P thinks it will be Jones, but not at the weight many people would expect. Also, at UFC 320, Merab Dvalishvili defeated Cory Sandhagen in dominant fashion to stay bantamweight champion... What is it going to take for someone to defeat 'The Machine'? And, 7 years ago today, arguably the most anticipated fight in UFC history took place between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor... Ilia Topuria stole headlines letting people know Charles Oliveira or Islam Makhachev is next, and Dana White confirmed it! Daniel Cormier IS BACK to give his take on Islam Makhachev's next fight against Topuria or Jack Della Maddalena, and Topuria's pair of viral moments Thursday. DC breaks down why he thinks the UFC went to Dagestan, and why he too thinks this is officially the fight plan for both divisions at International Fight Week on June 28. Cormier also talks about Alex Pereira getting hacked on X, and why he believes it wasn't a hack, but his reaction to the UFC deciding to not give the title shot to Poatan, which DC agrees should be Pereira's fight. #Volume #HerdSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
John Morgan and investigative journalist Cold Coffee are together in Las Vegas to discuss local conspiracy theories, the PFL's broadening footprint, “Poatan” and social media reporting, and of course to preview Saturday's UFC 315.
Petesy Carroll is joined by Uncrowned's Ben Fowlkes to discuss Beniel Dariush potentially leaking Dustin Poirier meeting his old rival Max Holloway in his retirement fight (8:39). Just after getting the show underway, the news hits of three weigh misses for this weekend's Apex card (14:40), before the conversation returns to Poirier (19:59). The lads ponder when Ilia Topuria will make his 155-pound debut with Charles Oliveira's camp claiming that the Brazilian has a fight booked for International Fight Week (29:15). In the wake of UFC 313, Petesy and Ben weigh-in on the changing narrative around Alex Pereira with the likes of Daniel Cormier claiming the defeat to Magomed Anakalev underlined how the knockout artist is simply too small for the maximum weight-class (39:56). With the announcement of Paul Hughes' homecoming bout against Bruno Miranda taking place in Belfast in May, Petesy asks Ben if he thinks PFL fumbled the bag by not immediately booking the Irishman's rematch with Usman Nurmagomedov (50:58). Finally, the return of Jeremy Stephens is brought into focus and the lads wonder if his re-signing to the UFC is a bad thing for BKFC on the back of his highly publicised knockout of Eddie Alvarez in Philadelphia (59:58).
Two shocking upsets rocked the combat sports world this past weekend, revealing fascinating patterns about championship mindsets and what it truly takes to stay on top. Victor Hugo stunned the grappling community by defeating Nicky Rod, the million-dollar champion whose dominance seemed beyond question after his flawless CJI tournament run. And then Magomed Ankalaev took down the seemingly unstoppable Poatan. Is this a story of flying too close to the sun? If we told you going into UFC 313 that Magomed Ankalaev would go 0-for-12 on takedown attempts in his light heavyweight title fight against Alex Pereira, would you have thought that shaped up as a win for Ankalaev? Yeah, we wouldn't either. That's what happened, however, with Ankalaev using a surprisingly effective striking attack coupled with a suffocating clinch game to take the strap from Poatan. And look, we get it. Everybody loves Pereira. We do, too. Literally nobody (besides his friends and family) is excited for the Ankalaev Era. But was Ankalaev's performance really as boring as some people are saying? Or is that just our sadness about Pereira getting the best of us? Plus, Dana White says a rematch is probably next for both guys. Is it, though? And we all know Justin Gaethje's got that dog in him, but we shouldn't lose sight of the fact that he's also really, really, really good. Learn more about your ad choices. Alex Pereira is no longer the UFC light heavyweight champion as Magomed Ankalaev became the first UFC fighter in 2025 to be announced "and new" by Bruce Buffer at the end of UFC 313. Will Pereira look to run it back against the new champ, or will "Poatan" make the move to heavyweight, and for a new quest? Following Saturday's pay-per-view event, MMA Fighting's Mike Heck and Jed Meshew react to Ankalaev's unanimous decision win over Pereira to capture the title, how Ankalaev's first title defense could look, and how the UFC will respond to the shift in power at 205 pounds. Additionally, they discuss Justin Gaethje's Fight of the Night win against Rafael Fiziev, if Gaethje could get a title shot against Islam Makhachev, Maurico Ruffy's clubhouse leader for Knockout of the Year against Bobby Green, grading the card from top-to-bottom, and much more. What's the worst kind of fight? A tough-ass matchup against an opponent nobody cares about. That's exactly what Pereira has on his hands against Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 313 on Saturday, so much so that everybody involved (except Ankalaev) appeared put it off as long as they possibly could. But, here's Poatan, at 37 and sitting on the brink of cleaning out the light heavyweight division, facing his fourth fight in just under 12 months against the man some say shapes up as his stiffest test at 205. Ain't that just the way? Plus, Rafael Fiziev seemed to surprise even himself by getting the call to step in for Dan Hooker in the co-main event fight against Justin Gaethje.
