How does the sport of cricket get more viewers than the NBA? Why does an app featuring games of cricket get a mind-blowing 200 million downloads? You'll find out all of this and more in this episode featuring Kountinya Sai, an impressive marketer from India. Learn more about the Carlsbad Chamber. After earning an MBA in 1998, Kountinya Sai started in the advertising business. During the dotcom boom, he built India's largest online bookstore. It had over one million books—all the books you could buy on Amazon.com, you could buy on SIFI mall.com. In 2012, he joined a sports publisher and started handling advertising sales for them globally. They went from 10 million downloads to 200 million downloads in a couple of years. They were the largest sports publisher in the mobile space. “We started taking that model to other countries. So we took it to Canada, South Africa, UK, Australia. Cricket as a game has transformed to target the younger audience, so that's where the advertisers need to spend their money. The game is getting onto platforms, which were not there earlier. For example, mobile. Let's say they're commuting to work in New York…. or San Francisco, when a big cricket match is going on in India. They cannot watch the game in front of their television sets at home. So their platform of choice became mobile. They're watching the games through our app.” Through helping his daughter with a runathon fundraiser, marketing genius Kountinya Sai realized that teens need motivation to build habits like exercising and doing the next right thing. So he started building his product, a gamified rewards wallet for teens to practice good habits. Find out more by listening to the episode. Bio Twenty years ago, Kountinya Sai started his career by joining a dotcom start-up. His world has turned a full circle as he launches his own startup: Harmoney. This week we are speaking with Crystal McLean, an author that is dedicating her talents to teaching children financial literacy. There is a saying that the rich get richer, that's because they look at money differently. Crystal says that in order to break generational financial disparity, you need to start teaching children about money when they are young, and do it in such a way that it's fun to learn and easy to understand. It removes the fear and intimation out of money. Children grow into adults knowing that they can control their finances, not the other way around. Check out her book "Harmoney and the Empty Piggy Bank"https://www.authorcrystalmclean.com/

Chris Tecco stopped by for a conversation today and I had a lot of fun. Chris is a performance coach, exercise specialist and a holistic health practitioner. He is also a lululemon ambassador, kettlebell swinger and a deep and profound guy. He has a deep understanding of the kettlebell, functional exercise and how to take an integrative approach to looking, performing and feeling our best on this journey called life. We get to know Chris a little bit better, his origins story, his experience and love for boxing, his personal philosophy and the one he shares with his clients. I encourage you all to follow Chris, he really lives what he teaches and is a living example of someone who takes responsibility for his own health and wellness and shares his passion with the world. His content is great. I had a blast, I am sure you will to. You can find more about Chris on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/chris.tecco/?hl=en

Each week the NZ Herald and Newstalk ZB's Cooking The Books podcast tackles a different money problem. Today, it's why your history with debt matters, even if you think you've got it under control. Hosted by Frances Cook.Debt can be the scary bogeyman under the bed. We all know debt isn't a good thing, but when life gets in the way, it's an easy shortcut to fixing certain problems. But if that debt starts to spiral out of control, the response from many of us is to ignore it. Pretend the mounting credit card bill isn't a problem, that the car isn't in danger of being repossessed, that we're not actually losing sleep at all. Even if you don't have a problem now, you should still put a debt plan in place. It's much easier to think about an action plan before problems crop up, and emotions get in the way. Once we face it, and figure out what the situation is, there are ways to put the debt bogeyman back in his place. The first step is figuring out how bad things have become, or could get, and that means checking your credit score. For the latest Cooking the Books, I talked to Dan York from Harmoney. We discussed what hurts your credit score, the unusual things most people don't expect, and the easy ways to fix it. If you have a question about this podcast, or question you'd like answered in the next one, come and talk to me about it.
