Episode 159 Pete Morcey. the Mayor of Brass City Pete Morcey is an American Hardcore Punk Legend. From his earliest days at the Anthrax Club, to founding Forced Reality, one of the early great American Oi! bands. He would go on to front Higher Force, the first "heavy" hardcore band in Connecticut, which as a scene would become known for heavy bands like Hatebreed and others including 100 Demons, which the Higher Force guys would start up later in the 90s. Pete would eventually join 100 Demons in the mid 2000s, where they would release one of the genre defining metalcore records of that decade via Deathwish Inc. He along with friends would found Brass City Tattoo, as well as Shogun ScreenPrinting, Brass City Boss Sounds and the TNT Music Festival, which was a decade ahead of the current trend of Oi! /Hardcore. He has been there through all of this and still running strong. What you might not know is that Phil is actually a psychiatrist—he received his MD from NYU and then abandoned the standard approach, feeling like he wasn't helping patients at all. He created The Tools for exactly that: To provide practices for people to move through life's obstacles, rather than just listening to them talk about them. Ad nauseum. One of the things that I love most about Phil's approach is the way in which he uses the spiritual, or what he calls “Higher Forces.” Foundationally, he believes that a beneficent universe will move in as soon as you put yourself in motion, unlocking creativity and growth.
