Ciao a tutti! Buon ascolto! Dani & Lia One of the winners of the 2022 Gulf of Naples - Independent film festival: Josephine Bono with "Taste of The Indigenous". We contacted the winner. We immediately liked Josephine for her Sicilian American speech. From the very first words we understood how much Josephine is attached to our beloved Italy, and especially to Sicily. Although fascinated by her love, we were able to ask about her passion for cinema and from the interview we realized that this young director is a real talent. We hope to bring you freshness in the same way she brought it to us. Have a good listening!
The Psychology of Self-Injury: Exploring Self-Harm & Mental Health
Every screenwriter and film director is different and each has their own intentions and motivations, but what goes into the writing of characters who engage in self-injury and self-harm? How are such films inspired, and how do writers and directors choose to frame self-injury content? Dani & Lia Since the beginning, cinema has always fascinated everyone. With creativity, dreams come true. Cinema really offers us so much, while revealing that there is also so much more to learn. We interviewed Umberto Santacroce, a director and creator of the Gulf of Naples Independent Film Festival. Umberto told us about the creation of this festival whose mission is to give a space of expression especially to young people. In this episode we learned a lot about independent cinema and the direct correlation with major productions.
A discussion of the short film collection from The Reciprocity Project. Screened May 1 2022 at the Independent Film Festival of Boston. “In Season One of the Reciprocity Project, storytellers and community partners created films in response to a question: what does 'reciprocity' mean to your community? In many Indigenous languages there is no word for reciprocity; rather, it's embedded in every aspect of existence for our peoples, connecting all beings, seen and unseen.” http://www.reciprocity.org for more information about the films. *Correction* there are seven films in The Reciprocity Project, not eight.

Welcome to SF IndieFest! We're happy to participate in this festival that celebrates stories told by people from the Bay, and shot in the Bay. We covered two films, one short, and one feature, that share an intimate look at two different sides of city life.In the short film Sammy & Quinn, we follow Sammy as he tries to convince his older brother, Quinn, who has been missing for five years and is suffering from mental illness, to join the family for Thanksgiving dinner. Director Christopher Coppola, and his son/actor, Bailey Coppola, discuss mental health, what it was like to film all over San Francisco during the heart of the quarantine, and the pros and cons of working with family. The narrative feature Love Letter Templates has a truly unique style that blends music, film, and animation to tell the story of loving and partying in San Francisco in the early 2000's. Director/writer/producer Joselito Sering explains how his first feature length film came to be, and the years of hard work and focus it took to get it done. Of course we have fun reminiscing about our “young” and carefree days in San Francisco, and we're pretty sure we've crossed paths at a party or club on more than one occasion. You can follow director Christopher Coppola on IG & Twitter & FBYou can follow Love Letter Templates on IG & FB & SpotifyYou can follow director Joselito Sering on IG & Twitter & FB--Thanks for listening and for your support! Welcome to Slamdance 2022! This film festival typically runs alongside Sundance in Park City, Utah, and proudly states it's made "for filmmakers, by filmmakers". And we're kicking off our coverage with two films that show how family life can be both complicated and rewarding. And the cherry on top is- they're both festival winners! Hannah Ha Ha won the Grand Jury Award for best narrative feature, and the Acting Award for Hannah Lee Thompson, and Iron Family won the Audience Award for best documentary feature. The narrative feature Hannah Ha Ha follows a woman living at home with her father, struggling between what makes her happy, and her brother's pressure to be something she is not. We (virtually) sat down with co-directors and writers Jordan Tetewsky and Joshua Pikovsky, producer/talent Roger Mancusi, producer Emily Freire, and the award winner herself, Hannah Lee Thompson, to explain how they worked through last minute changes to the cast, filming during a pandemic, and finding the perfect tone to the story. In the documentary Iron Family, we meet Jazmine Faries, a woman with Down syndrome who is obsessed with Matthew McConaughey and soap operas. For the past five years, she has written a screenplay that her family performs for their small town in Iron River, Michigan. This film gives us a front row seat into the preparation and production of her sixth play. Director Patrick Longstreth and the subjects of the film/brother sister dynamic duo Jazmine and Chad Faries, discuss the importance of family, the power of community, and our mutual love for Days of Our Lives star Austin Peck. You can follow Hannah Ha Ha on IG & TwitterYou can follow actor Hannah Lee Thompson on IG & FB & SpotifyYou can follow director Jordan Tetewsky on IG & TwitterYou can follow producer/actor Roger Mancusi on IG & TwitterYou can follow producer Emily Freire on IGYou can follow director Patrick Longstreth on Twitter & FBYou can follow Jazmine Faries on IG & Twitter & FBYou can follow Chad Faries on IG & Twitter & FB--Thanks for listening and for your support! Adam just recently filed for bankruptcy but it could be a blessing in disguise. He now hires contractors to work per project and this massive change has lifted a cloud of stress and anxiety. He is happier and more comfortable at the new work space in N. Philadelphia. Adam and I spoke about adding a VR category for the 2020 Independent Film Festival. He would be a great addition to the PIFF team. ImmersiveXR is breaking into so many industries and is continuing to grow. If you are thinking of a VR project, or your company is exploring a new training or safety training, contact Adam Twersky.

I'm talking about a variety of shoots this week. We're shooting an action scene using a dolly and shooting a dialog scene with a variety of OTS (over the shoulder) angles, including dirty and clean singles. Once all the camera work is done we'll be editing it into rough cuts next week.I also discuss a number of Filmmaking events taking place in the next couple months. In Boston the Independent Film Festival will be taking place, April 25 - 30. They're looking for volunteers. Another film festival is online, called the One Minute Film Festival. The 48 hour film project is closed in Boston, but it's a wicked cool event you should look into to get a complete tour of the video production experience.I will be attending NAB mid April and while I talk a little bit about the things I plan to see and learn at the show, including training by FMC, I'll talk about at more length in the next podcast. Some of the updated announcements I expect to see are Adobe CS and Production suite, Apple FCP and an update to Avid for the Mac/Intel processor.Red camera is going to make a big noise with a demonstration and possibly a limited sale of it's new camera that shoots 4k video.
