President-elect Donald Trump has promised to at least partially repeal the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, and some analysts say it could end up helping China more than the United States.“If you take away the incentives for people to buy the stuff that American manufacturers are making, that weakens the case for investing in American manufacturing,” said Canary Media's Jeff St. John, who wrote about how killing the EV tax credit could impact an electrified future for the U.S. St. John said the tax credit is a major incentive for car buyers, while also incentivizing automakers and battery manufacturers. “Those investments are making a difference in the lives and jobs and economic development to move forward,” he said. “Those are all things that are tied up with the $7,500 per EV tax credit and it's a little bit hard to know what will happen if we untangle that.”To hear the full conversation with St. John and MPR meteorologist Paul Huttner, click play on the audio player above or subscribe to the Climate Cast podcast.
Jeff St. John, director of News and Special Projects at Canary Media, discusses how the Inflation Reduction Act, which offers companies incentives for bringing manufacturing of renewable energy technologies back to the United States, can also affect trade with China.
Jeff St. John, Director of News and Special Projects at Canary Media, returns for an in-depth discussion on the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and its far-reaching effects on both domestic and international businesses. Passed in 2022 under the Biden administration, the IRA provides crucial incentives for companies investing in renewable energy and clean technologies onshore. However, with a new administration taking office in 2025, the landscape could shift dramatically. Jeff also shares insights on the role of China, the impact on jobs, and the complexities surrounding tariffs in this rapidly evolving sector.

Rick Larsen (D-WA): My colleagues have criticized EPA's use of its Clean Water Act review or veto authority. Yet, the record shows EPA's use of this authority has been consistent with congressional intent. I see no reason for removing this authority. Since enactment of the Clean Water Act in 1972, EPA has only exercised this authority 14 times—most recently in relation to large-scale mining proposals in Alaska and West Virginia. EPA's use of this authority has, in fact, been bipartisan. EPA used it 2 times during Democratic administrations and 12 times during Republican administrations. Rep. Eric Burlison (R-MO): This bill will cut red tape, strengthen the permitting process in favor of those seeking the permits, provide clarity to the EPA to ensure that they are following what the law intends, and, most importantly, fight back against the militant climate agenda. Rep. Eric Burlison (R-MO): Our court system is already being attacked from every angle. Let's not let the environmentalists continue to manipulate the courts to push their climate religion. It should be an efficient and speedy process so businesses can build the infrastructure that our country depends on. Rep. David Rouser (R-NC): Mr. Chairman, in closing, I encourage my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to support this bill, which provides energy predictability and certainty that our utilities, energy, manufacturing, and agricultural industries need to succeed, which are so critical to American greatness in energy, food production, and the manufacturing necessary to improve the standard of living of every American. That is what this is about, Mr. Chairman. Music by Editing Production Assistance

The industrial sector is set to overtake power generation and transportation as the biggest source of planet warming emissions in the US by 2035, according to The Rhodium Group. The sector's impact is even greater on the global scale. Industry around the world accounts for more carbon dioxide emissions than all forms of transportation combined – largely driven by steel, cement, and chemicals. There are a lot of ways to decarbonize industry, but the pathways are much less clear than for electricity or automobiles. In this episode, we're joined by Jeff St. John, Maria Galluci, and Julian Spector, who've been exploring the varied paths for cleaning up the products that are foundational to the world around us. California is at a crossroads. The state has already installed nearly 1.8 million rooftop solar systems, 5 gigawatts of batteries, and 1.6 million electric cars. But it is also facing some serious challenges. The list is long: controversial policy changes, extreme weather threats, and backlogs – lots and lots of backlogs. It is facing serious backlogs in interconnecting utility-scale solar and storage projects, keeping fossil gas-fired power plants open that were supposed to shut down years ago. And that's not even counting the gigawatts of offshore wind, geothermal power, long-duration energy storage and other clean, firm resources called for in the state's long-term plans — none of which we've built yet. This week, Jeff St. John, Canary Media's director of news, sits down with three prominent people who are trying to move the state forward: State Senator Josh Becker; GRID Alternatives Executive Director Arthur Bart-Williams; and California Solar and Storage Association Executive Director Bernadette Del Chiaro. Renewables and electric vehicles are on a tear, and they'll soon likely attract $2 trillion in yearly investment. But global emissions have not peaked. So what are the new frontiers of technology that will make renewables and storage more valuable – and draw down emissions at the speed needed? This week, we're going to reflect on that question coming out of RE+, a major American conference where our editors were covering emerging tech. Then, the battery recycling boom is on. It's attracting billions of dollars in investment. Will it address supply chain security and a looming waste problem? Finally, Hawaii's difficult transition away from coal. Why couldn't it build renewables and batteries fast enough to fill the gap? Joining us this week to talk through these stories are Jeff St. John, Julian Spector, and Lisa Martine Jenkins. For the U.S. to meet its climate goals, we need more clean energy projects — projects that require space on the electrical grid. The trouble is: there's a massive backlog. Some wind and solar projects have been waiting for years to be connected to electric grids. Now the Federal Electric Regulatory Commission (FERC) is taking action to speed up the connection process.Jeff St. John wrote about the changes for Canary Media, a newsletter focused on solutions to the climate crisis.
A year after it was passed, the Inflation Reduction Act is already reshaping the energy and automotive industries in the U.S. New factories for a wide array of clean energy components are being planned. Old factories are being reopened, retooled, or expanded. According to a Canary Media analysis, that is amounting to over $70 billion in new investments in the manufacturing sector for electric cars, EV parts, batteries, battery recycling, and wind and solar assembly. Wind, solar, and battery developers are planning major increases in deal flow and projects, thanks to expanded tax credits. Meanwhile, companies building an emerging set of technologies – like carbon removal, hydrogen, and novel long-duration storage – are also expanding. But there are still plenty of debates and uncertainties around implementation, ranging from how to structure subsidies, who benefits from them, and whether they'll be enough to keep supply chains in America for the long haul. On this week's episode of The Carbon Copy, we have a conversation with three journalists who are reporting on the lasting impacts of the IRA: Maria Gallucci, a clean energy reporter at Canary Media; Jeff St. John, director of news and special projects at Canary Media; and Julian Spector, a senior reporter at Canary Media. This week I'm discussing work culture with journalist and author Simone Stolzoff. It seems like work has gotten out of control. People introduce themselves at dinner parties with their job title, working long hours and having stress is a badge of honor to people and we're expected to drop everything when our boss calls. If you think it all sounds toxic, you're right. Yet, we all continue to operate this week. We are letting work take over our lives. What's the phrase? We are living to work instead of working to live. How did we get here? Is it making us happy? And how do we fix it? Those are some of the questions that I answer with Simone Stolzoff. He recently published a book called 'The Good Enough Job: Reclaiming Life From Work.' We discuss the book and other things as we tackle the subject of our wild work culture in America. For more from Simone Stolzoff: WEBSITE and INSTAGRAMFor more from Adult Education: @adulteducationpodcastFor more from host Jeff St. Pierre: @stpierreonair

Warning: Explicit Conversations About Politics, Culture, & Sexuality With the “Show Me” State of Missouri now in a “Spank Me” State of Misery—bringing corporal punishment, aka beating children, back to public schools (!), we feel it's a good time (once again) to differentiate “erotic spanking” or impact play—which is a great form of recreational kink for consenting adults—from punitive spanking or paddling, which is a terrible way to “discipline” children. Nevertheless, school districts in the Great States of MO, TX, LA & more are once again spanking children who “misbehave.” This, even as they ban books, dumbing down the next generation from top to tush. Not everyone on the Love Train agrees with Capt'n Max & Me that spanking kids is wrong (such a divisive issue!), but we resolve our conflict in a Bonobo Way when I give our Birthday Gal Ana—a consenting adult—a celebratory Birthday Spanking right on the air. Joining us in Twitter Spaces, Chris G from NJ celebrates his graduation, spreading The Bonobo Way of Peace Through Pleasure, and riding our F.D.R. “rocket” into the wonders of space (outer and inner)! We also talk student loan forgiveness (the GQP doesn't like it because they want #BodiesBodiesBodies and for YOU to be so poor you have to join their military); “The Beauties & Bautista” live from the Soul of Old DTLA; Jeff St. Claire & Jean-Jacques Rousseau on spanking; how we can get Biden to Free Assange and why we're not sorry to see Liz Cheney go—even though she tried to take down tRump. So do we! And here we are, spanking and trying to beat Trump again and again—in words and pictures—as the FBI, the DOJ, the State of NY and even FOX-TV take turns spanking Trumpty Dumpty who will soon—hopefully, finally—have a great fall. Crrrrack! Read more prose and watch the show(s): https://drsusanblock.com/spank-the-news Need to show off (like Missouri), get spanked or just talk PRIVATELY? Experience Phone Sex Therapy. A conversation with Jeff St. John, Supervisor of Corporate Reporting and Accounts Payable for Amphenol Aerospace in Sidney, NY. Jeff has been with Amphenol for nine years. We talk about the various responsibilities of his role, managing multiple entities, meeting deadlines, and ensuring that we accurately report the numbers. We talk about continuing to learn from the experts at Amphenol on how to use the numbers to shape strategy and direction. We talk about growing up in nearby Oneonta, NY, excelling in math, and finding a love of playing the tuba, which he continues to this day. We talk about how accounting and playing the tuba satisfy both his analytical and creative minds and are both vital in establishing the foundation for a successful group. We talk about his love of auto racing. And we discuss his desert island album, book, and movie. This is The Interface. Hosted by Chris Cappello. Music by Square Seed. Patty Wight of Maine Public Radio reports on this perplexing condition that has a profound impact on people's lives but few treatment options. And, scientists thought that humans with stone weapons may have caused the disappearance of Ice Age beasts like wooly mammoths. But as Jeff St. Clair of WKSU reports, new research shows that stones were no match for mammoths' hair and hide.

1. Passionfruit - Smilin' Ed 2. Sue Barker - Love to the People 3. Jon Mol - What Ever Happened To My Life 4. Tramm - Fairytales 5. Renee Geyer - Tender Hooks 6. Benjamin Hugg - Silly Minded People 7. This is not the episode I thought I'd have for you this week. I was prepared to dive into a completely different topic. But a documentary I saw this week got my mind turning and I had to call an audible. I watched the film Holding These Moments which is about one of my favorite bands, Bane. The doc looks back at the band over the years and their final tour and shows. It was super emotional and brought back so many incredible memories of my time in the hardcore community. It's a community that means so much to me even though I fell out of it many years ago. But the film got me thinking about community and how important it is. Even more so now than ever before. A community of like-minded people that make you feel good about life is so wonderful. So, that's what I talk about in this episode. I talk about finding that group that means something to you and holding on to it. Capsule d'entrainement en confinement Ft Coach Jeff St Cyr
I remember graduating college and working never less than 2 jobs as I tried to find my way to break into the radio business. I got so used to my insane schedule that I didn't realize how much it was destroying my well being. This week's guest, Siena Walker, went through a similar struggle. She found herself fresh out of college with a fast-paced and high-stress job. Couple that with a bad relationship and life got away from her. Then she started training with our friend Corinne Chmel and things started to come back into focus. Now Siena is in control of her life and, even though it's still a struggle at times, she is loving it. If you want to find out more about Corinne's coaching plans visit https://www.corinnechmel.com (corinnechmel.com) Follow the show on https://www.instagram.com/bemorewellpodcast/ (Instagram) and https://twitter.com/bemorewell (Twitter) Follow me, Jeff St. Pierre on https://www.instagram.com/stpierreonair/ (Instagram) and https://twitter.com/stpierreonair (Twitter)
Sometimes it takes a slap in the face to bring you back to reality. Liz Chong was in a dark place when she graduated college. It wasn't until she went to see a doctor that she understood how far down she had gone. But she took the medical advice and started making changes in her life that ultimately turned to a healthier lifestyle and a new career. Jeff St. Pierre sits down with Liz Chong, personal trainer at the Under Armour Performance Center, to hear more about her journey and to pick up some tips for how to make these changes in your life.
Jeff St. Pierre and Kip Moore sit down to talk about Moore's decision to take a two month long break to refresh before getting back out on the road for the year. In the music industry it's tough to make sure you stay on the top of everyone's mind. Many artists never take a break, but their health struggles because of that. Kip Moore makes a conscious effort to take a long break in order to refresh and unwind before getting back into the daily grind of touring and performing non-stop. Some would say it's a dangerous move, but Kip says it's necessary for him and has made him a happier person.
How often do you miss a goal and then waste time beating yourself up for it? It's something we all do, and I've been battling with that myself. This episode is an update to my personal journey to finding, and sustaining, wellness. I talk about those negative moments that tend to dominate our mind.
Hey, I'm Jeff St. Pierre, host of the Be More Well Podcast. Episode 1 gives you some background on my own personal journey to finding wellness, and how it sparked the idea of doing this podcast.
Welcome to the Be More Well Podcast, hosted by Jeff St. Pierre. This introduction gives a brief overview of what this podcast is all about.
