What is the song of your soul right now?If someone could put on your AirPods and hear the soundtrack of your soul, what would they hear?
Would they hear worship, or worry? Would they hear praise, or panic? Would they hear faith, or fear?“Next to the Word of God, the noble art of music is the greatest treasure in the world. Beautiful
music is the art of the prophets that can calm the agitations of the soul; it is one of the most magnificent and delightful presents God has given us.” — MARTIN LUTHERYour Soul was made to sing — the Bible declares it, science echoes it (people with dementia may forget their spouses names, but still remember lyrics to their favorite songs) thats why music can be therapy, because your soul longs to sing. We'd love for you to subscribe to our channel and turn on notifications to get updates on our latest content and resources that will help more people know Jesus and people know Jesus more.GIVE : We believe that generosity is golden. Have you stopped asking? "I know you've asked God for something before. Maybe you got a clear no, or maybe a yes, but I think there's many people here today that would admit that maybe you stopped asking because it didn't seem like God was going to answer. So have you stopped asking God for the things you want or need?" If we're honest, I think all of us would love to have a more powerful prayer life. Whether you are a seasoned saint, a fresh follower of Jesus, or unsure about what you believe, I think all of us would like to have a powerful prayer life but I think the problem is that we want that, but then overcomplicate prayer and misunderstand prayer, and then just stop praying. What would it look like to just keep asking? 7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? 11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! What would it look like for Jesus to get His way in your heart and change how you relate to people? The reality is that there is no pain quite like people pain. Often the bitter pain we experience from people causes anger. Anger is Murder in Seed Form - It's the acorn before the oak tree. It starts small but if you allow it, it'll grow and grow until its untamable and destruction will follow. Anger severs relationships. Anger short circuits your purpose. Anger serves up regret and it tastes disgusting. In Jesus's sermon on the mount, He teaches freedom can be found in forgiveness and that anger doesn't need to hold you hostage. Jesus elevates the ethic. He is not just after your hands, He is after your heart. We'd love for you to subscribe to our channel and turn on notifications to get updates on our latest content and resources that will help more people know Jesus and people know Jesus more. 21 “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.' 22 But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults[d] his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!' will be liable to the hell of fire. 23 So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. 25 Come to terms quickly with your accuser while you are going with him to court, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you be put in prison. 26 Truly, I say to you, you will never get out until you have paid the last penny. 38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.' 39 But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40 And if anyone would sue you and take your tunic,[h] let him have your cloak as well. 41 And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. 42 Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you. 43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet only your brothers,[i] what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 48 You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. Matthew 5:21-26,38-48 GIVE : We believe that generosity is golden. How to Share the Message of The Kingdom - Joe Baker - Good News

The beauty of Spiritual conversations is that they are doorways that God uses to open people's hearts and minds to the hope of Jesus. Every conversation is a divine appointment waiting to happen and an opportunity to share the Good News of the Gospel with anyone, anywhere. We live in a world where news is everywhere that you look. It's on social media, it's on billboards and in magazines and newspapers. Our feeds are filled with the latest headlines; typically those headlines aren't all so good-- tragedy, war, and division flood our feeds. In a world full of so much negativity, deep down, our souls are craving a message that speaks to the deepest desires of our hearts. One of Jesus' primary purposes of coming to earth was to bring Good News. 22 So Paul, standing in the midst of the Areopagus, said: “Men of Athens, I perceive that in every way you are very religious. 23 For as I passed along and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription: ‘To the unknown god.' What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you. 24 The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man,25 nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything. 26 And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, 27 that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us, 28 for “‘In him we live and move and have our being'; as even some of your own poets have said, “‘For we are indeed his offspring.' 29 Being then God's offspring, we ought not to think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and imagination of man. 30 The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent, 31 because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead.” 32 Now when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked. But others said, “We will hear you again about this.” 33 So Paul went out from their midst. 34 But some men joined him and believed, among whom also were Dionysius the Areopagite and a woman named Damaris and others with them. One day, we will stand before Jesus and give an account for our lives. That should motivate us and change how we live today. Jesus has given us HIS KINGDOM to live in today and He's coming back at a time we won't expect and when He does, He's coming as the King and He is gonna ask us: “What did you do with the life that I gave you?” Through a series of parables, Jesus encourages us to live awake, to live prepared, and to live like He's coming back. In this message, Pastor Joe Baker gives a powerful message teaching on the Parable of the Talents. The Parable of the Talents 14 “For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property. 15 To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away. 16 He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them, and he made five talents more. 17 So also he who had the two talents made two talents more. 18 But he who had received the one talent went and dug in the ground and hid his master's money. 19 Now after a long time the master of those servants came and settled accounts with them. 20 And he who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five talents more, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me five talents; here, I have made five talents more.' 21 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.' 22 And he also who had the two talents came forward, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me two talents; here, I have made two talents more.' 23 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.' 24 He also who had received the one talent came forward, saying, ‘Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you scattered no seed, 25 so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here, you have what is yours.' 26 But his master answered him, ‘You wicked and slothful servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I scattered no seed? 27 Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received what was my own with interest. 28 So take the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents. 29 For to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. 30 And cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' When Jesus walked this earth, more than he talked about money or peace or faith or politics, He talked about The Kingdom. The Kingdom of God, or the Kingdom of Heaven, or simply, the Kingdom. And when talking about the Kingdom, we have to be reminded that it's simple enough for a child to understand and enter in, but also complex enough for you to never feel like you've got it all figured out. Jesus, when speaking about the Kingdom, didn't give us definitions for what the Kingdom of God is. Instead, he gave illustrations. He told stories -- parables. Jesus communicated through stories to connect with the hearts of His audience and deposit truth into their souls. Parables are simply practical stories or earthly stories with a heavenly meaning. Today, we're diving into a story Jesus told that shakes us up and calls us out. It's about a banquet, but not just any banquet—it's a royal feast hosted by the King Himself. And guess what? You're invited to dine with the King. But there's a twist with this story, because it's in this story that Jesus exposes the excuses that we make that lead to us rejecting His invitation. Contrary to popular belief, Jesus didn't come to establish a political party or create a new religion. Jesus didn't come to earth to just love people and make their lives better, although he did do that — Jesus came to establish a Kingdom. The Kingdom of God. When Jesus began to speak, He didn't compare the Kingdom of God to a high mountain, a mighty river or even a majestic oak. Jesus compared the Kingdom of God to a tiny mustard seed! Jesus uses the image of something little to teach us about something larger than we can comprehend. A mustard seed mindset believes that what is small in the kingdom of Jesus is wildly significant. Church, if you are in Christ, you've been adopted into the family of God, and given a new identity, and that identity comes with a purpose, a mission for your life to know Jesus and make Him known. But there's a problem, it's that there is a real enemy and real forces that are opposed to that mission, doing everything that they can to wage war on our identity, and stop our cause. So, if we are going to truly be who God has created us to be and live in the identity that he has given to us, we are going to have to put on the clothes, or the armor, that God has put out for us in order make it through the life-or-death war that is waged against us each and every day. You see, whether you realize it or not, life is not a playground but a battleground. In this message, Pastor Joe Baker preaches on the epic conclusion of Paul's beautiful letter to the Ephesians — a letter, that many theologians and scholars would agree is pound for pound, the most influential document in human history. In a world that is obsessed with the self, kids are painted in our culture often times as an inconvenience that can be taken care of. We pay to let someone else raise them, we distance them, and don't let them distract us from our goals and then wonder why there's a generation that's starving for attention. But Jesus speaks with this bold proclamation: "I see Kids as of utmost importance." Have you ever wondered why you should or need to go to church? Sometimes we need other people in our lives to tell us to stop sleepwalking and to wake up. Because if we're honest, it can be easy to find ourselves lulled to sleep in this thing called life. It's easy to get caught up in the currents of culture and get stuck in the streams of striving, and let busyness and distraction rule our lives and it doesn't take long before we find ourselves spiritually lethargic and falling asleep on faith. But God has created the church, to be the very place where we as the people of God gather together to wake each other up from our spiritual slumber and to step into the purposes that God has for our lives. Today is all about: Awakening to the Gathering: Why you need to Stop Sleepin' on Church. Hebrews 10:19-25 19 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, 20 by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. We've all heard the phrase: practice what you preach. Today, we want to advocate for you to practice what you pray. We don't just want to pray prayers with our lips, we want to pray prayers with our lives. We want our walk to back up our talk. Because the reality is that if we're truly gonna build a house of prayer, we've got to be a people who practice what we pray. And the kind of prayer that we're looking at today is a prayer that's potentially the most difficult kind of prayer to put into practice but definitely the most powerful. In this message we're going to study one of the Apostle Paul's prayers from the book of Philemon and discover how un-forgiveness can build barriers in our prayers but forgiveness can bring breakthrough. Philemon 4-7 4 I thank my God always when I remember you in my prayers, 5 because I hear of your love and of the faith that you have toward the Lord Jesus and for all the saints, 6 and I pray that the sharing of your faith may become effective for the full knowledge of every good thing that is in us for the sake of Christ. 7 For I have derived much joy and comfort from your love, my brother, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you. In 2 Peter chapter 1, we see Peter give a reminder for the early church and for you and me that in this Christian life, those that want to stand resilient, must learn to step out of comfort the of shallow Christianity, ditch the life jacket, and dive into the endless pursuit of knowing the God of the universe. Because resilient disciples know that there is always more of God to know and that life is best lived when we move from stagnant faith to growing and maturing faith. Be sure to check out this message from Pastor Joe Baker on growing in the knowledge of God. 2 Peter 1:1-15 Simeon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained a faith of equal standing with ours by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ: 2 May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. 3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, 4 by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. 5 For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue,[e] and virtue with knowledge, 6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, 7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. 8 For if these qualities[f] are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins. 10 Therefore, brothers,[g] be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall. 11 For in this way there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 12 Therefore I intend always to remind you of these qualities, though you know them and are established in the truth that you have. 13 I think it right, as long as I am in this body,[h] to stir you up by way of reminder, 14 since I know that the putting off of my body will be soon, as our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me. 15 And I will make every effort so that after my departure you may be able at any time to recall these things. God's glory is worth it. Living in obedience to the will of God, is worth it. Living as outcasts in the midst of a world that stands against our convictions, is worth it. Submitting to leaders that we don't like or agree with, is worth it. Living counter-cultural lives, even if it costs us our reputation is worth it. And that's where we find ourselves today in 1 Peter chapter 2 verses 11-25… Asking: How do we live in a world that is not our home, in a place that we don't belong, submit to authority that we do not prefer, and in all of it follow Jesus, live by this Book, and glorify God??? Resilience describes something that is able to spring back into shape after bending. It's the ability for someone to be bent by the pressures of this world but not break. To go through difficulty, and and pushed and pressed and pulled by circumstance and instead of crumbling, bounce back even stronger than before. Our whole goal through this series is to be a people who know how to follow Jesus in a world that is falling apart. Sermon on 1 Peter 2. 1 Peter 2:11-25 11 Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. 12 Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation. 13 Be subject for the Lord's sake to every human institution,[b] whether it be to the emperor[c] as supreme, 14 or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good. 15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. 16 Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants[d] of God. 17 Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor. 18 Servants, be subject to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the unjust. 19 For this is a gracious thing, when, mindful of God, one endures sorrows while suffering unjustly. 20 For what credit is it if, when you sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But if when you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of God. 21 For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. 22 He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. 23 When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly. 24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. 25 For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. Joe Baker makes a welcome return to the podcast to talk about his latest book 'The Tyranny of Talent'. We had a great conversation and covered a LOT of ground including...1. Talent in sports is a far more complex concept than most people assume, and the traditional understanding of talent as a fixed, simple, and unidimensional capacity is flawed.2. Coaches often lack training in talent evaluation and prediction, making it difficult for them to accurately identify and develop potential in young athletes.3. Long-term athlete development (LTAD) models can be useful but have limitations, and should be considered as a starting point rather than an end goal.4. A more nuanced approach to athlete development is needed, taking into account various domains such as child development, behavioral, neurological, and physical needs.5. Predicting talent in professional sports drafts is challenging, and early selections can have a significant impact on an athlete's long-term development.6. Survivorship bias can lead to an overemphasis on the success stories of athletes who made it through a particular development system, while neglecting the many others who did not.7. Diversity and variability in youth sports are crucial for creating inclusive, accessible opportunities for all young people, regardless of their background, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status.8. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child can provide a framework for ethical decision-making in sports coaching, policy-making, and athlete development, ensuring that children's needs and interests are prioritised.9. Addressing athlete maltreatment and promoting transparency and accountability in sports environments can help create a safer, more empowering space for young athletes.10. Challenging traditional ideas and approaches in coaching and athlete development can lead to more effective, inclusive systems that better support the long-term success and well-being of all young athletes.
