Some things are worth fighting for… It's 1782, Daniel and his sister Pearl arrive in London with the world at their feet and their future assured. Having escaped a Jamaican sugar plantation, Daniel fought for the British in the American War of Independence and was rewarded with freedom and an inheritance.   But the city is not a place for men like Daniel and he is callously tricked and finds himself, along with his sister Pearl, in the rookeries of St Giles – a warren of dark and menacing alleyways, filled with violence and poverty.   The underworld labyrinth is run by Elias, a man whose cruelty knows no bounds. But under his dangerous rule is a brotherhood of Black men, the Blackbirds of St Giles, whose intention is to set their people free.   Can Daniel use his strength, wit and the fellowship of the other Blackbirds to overthrow Elias and truly find the freedom he fought for…? Follow Lila CainBuy The Kill List (InspectSend us a textSupport the show"Enjoying 'The Conversation'? Tommy G Talks - Episode 146: [TEA WITH TOMMY G SERIES EP2] w Kate Griffin - Wessex Spirits & The Gin Palace. Episode 2 of Tea with Tommy G brings you a very open and honest conversation with Kate Griffin, the Founder of Wessex Spirits and The Gin Palace in Andover.  I have been getting to know Kate and her fantastic business well over the last few months. We at Tide 55 have been working with her and her team to help grow online bottle sales and local footfall into the amazing venue that is The Gin Palace.  I wanted to share her story with you. But not just the story she tells everyone that comes in for a drink. I wanted to dig a little deeper into the WHY and the HOW she came to be where she is now.  So in this episode, you will hear how Kate went from being a Teacher, to throwing out her teaching books, having no "job", with 2 young children to look after, and an idea to start making her own gin. Local business is really important and I hope that this helps bring the awareness up for the people and the businesses that are out there flying the flag for Andover, our local community. (as well as the wider economy) You can see more from Wessex Spirits and book a gin tasting session or drop in for a drink at the Gin Palace here: https://www.wessexspirits.co.uk/ Make sure you tag @ WessexSpirits in your answer to Kate's amazing question.  Like the content? Being a musician in New Jersey has got to be a tough road. On one hand, you have one of the most revered artists in music history, and on the other hand, you have Jon Bon Jovi. Their combined album sales and streams are too many to count. Eating, breathing, and gigging around those giants and hidden in the cracks and on the backroads are loads of artists who stand on their shoulders and in their shadows. Above the Moon is one of those bands. They are Kate Griffin on guitar and vocals, Shawn Murphy on lead guitar, Kyle Griffin on bass, and John Gramuglia on drums. Formed in 2016, they immediately began creating the music THEY wanted to hear. By incorporating influences like singer-songwriter fare to traditional rock, with some shoegaze and pop thrown in for good measure. Above the Moon has carved out a distinctive sound that is authentically them. After a string of EPs, the band has released their first full-length album, Mine Again. Kate and Shawn stopped by Thunderlove Studio to talk about the new album and a bunch of other stuff. Stories were told, and laughs were had. Pull up a chair; here is their conversation with Keith and Geoff.  LINKS Above The Moon Website Above The Moon Bandcamp Above The Moon IG Above The Mon FB The Katies David + David  Tripping Daisy

Jill Zenoff joins us for a delicious (if not overly-cheesy) episode for Parashat Ki Tavo. A friend of farms and food, Jill brings a unique perspective to our conversation about first fruits, blessings, curses, and — of course — cheese. We love cheese. How does the first harvest connect to our world today? How does it connect to Tikkun Olam — repairing the world? We'll cover all this and more, all with a taste of Torah and — again — cheese. In fact, in a Drinking and Drashing: Torah with a Twist first, Jill pairs our Midrashic Mixology cocktail with a cheese! This episode is brought to you by Lactaid. We are ending the Book of Exodus, but we couldn't be further from the finish line! We do love when a good plan turns into great practice and setting the scene for some familiar faces. We are thrilled to welcome back Rabbi Lyle Rothman who is a Pekudei phenomenon (from bar mitzvah to rabbinic sermon to being read this year on his birthday!). Rabbi Lyle has also brought to the Drinking and Drashing set two incredible student filmmakers from the University of Miami, Elinor Howells and Travis Laub, as our Q&A guests, but SURPRISE! He gets to ask them some questions as well! We hope you're ready for a Hollywood ending for the Book of Exodus because this episode is nothing less than red-carpet ready. From India to Israel, Maayan Shapurkar is taking us on a global tour of what it looks like to move from plan to implementation. Be it building communities, creating camp programming, inspiring volunteers, reuniting friends virtually, or reminding us that volunteering can actually get you more than you give, Maayan gives us so many insights into how the Jewish community in India works and how it's okay to take time to be creative and build out what makes you happy! We are also thrilled to welcome HUC-JIR JDC-Entwine India trip alum and erev Rav Jill Rubin as our Q&A guest. In times of missing leadership, it's easy to understand how a crowd could descend into crisis and chaos. When leadership is great and change is understood, a crowd turns into a community, one which is willing to stretch with its leaders, supporting, pivoting, and contributing to the change at hand. We welcomed the brilliance of Rabbi Ben Spratt and Cantor Shayna De Lowe of Congregation Rodeph Sholom as we navigated losing the scarcity mindset, leaning into the benefits of change and constraints, and finding holy moments (even when in hidden clefts).
