The second volume TPB of the Defenders of the Earth series by Mad Cave Studios is now out for sale around the world. Scott Wydon joins Stephen East and Jermayn Parker as they review all 8 issues from the series. They do a 5 minutes synopsis of the series and then get down to business talking about what they like, what they do not like and much more.We will be discussing the story in detail, so there will be spoilers. We recommend ensuring you read the series before you listen / watch this podcast. We have warned you! Why does the Phantom carry revolvers instead of his 1911's? Is the Phantom still alive and the Phantom? Or is Jedda now the Phantom? Will Jedda taking on the role of the Phantom see Rick, LJ and K'shin also take over the roles by their fathers? Will this then see a change of the song to become "8 becomes 4..."Is Ming still alive? Will Kurt return?Considering that Barin Atomics was used in the first series, will we see Prince Barin? Was bringing Xanadu in the pocket of Mandrake genius or too convenient? Are we seeing a return to the classic golden oldie characters? What would you like to see in the new Defenders of the Earth series starting in 2026?These plus much more are the questions we have. Have you read the series? What did you think about it? We love your comments and feedback from the Phantom phans from around the world.
Capping off the legendary Summer at Kame House run, LJ, Meelz, and AD lock in to talk about the expansive Red Ribbon Army arc of Dragon Ball, including everything that makes it amazing, why this was Goku's first run as a hero, the legend of Mercenary Tao, and how this moves Dragon Ball into another gear.
Atli Freyr Hjaltason, þjóðfræðingur, segir frá útgáfu á Danslögum Jónasar, handriti frá árinu 1864 sem inniheldur 50 danslög skrifuð fyrir fiðlu af Jónasi Helgasyni. Jónas var vinsæll dansundirleikari í Reykjavík á síðari helming 19. aldar og lék víða fyrir dansi. Mögulega hafa einhver danslaga Jónasar lifað nógu lengi til að hafa verið leikin í félagsheimilum landsins. Svo ótal margt fer fram í þessum byggingum sem oft á tíðum eru kjarninn í samfélögum landsbyggðarinnar. Þessi félagsheimili eru einmitt rauði þráðurinn í ljóðabók sem kom út í vor, Félagslandi eftir Völu Hauks. Þetta er fyrsta ljóðbók Völu en hún hlaut Ljóðstaf Jóns úr vör í fyrra. Vala mætir í hljóðstofu, en auk þess rýnir Trausti Ólafsson í leikverkið 40.000 fet, sem frumsýnt var í Tjarnarbíói fyrir helgi.

In this episode, we finally come to the end of Ljósvetninga saga! And there are a lot of loose ends to wrap up. Eyjolf Guðmundarson still burns for vengeance against his brother's killers, but the courts have spared the Möðruvellings, exiling them instead. The outlawed Möðruvellings plan to spread out across Northern Europe, but they have to get out of Iceland first—and the clock is ticking. Our story this time takes us from the court of Harald Hardrada to the streets of Rome, from the bustle of Byzantium to the famous Battle of Hastings, as everyone tries to move on with their lives. And try as they might, not everyone's making it out alive. Pack your bags for a globe-trotting conclusion to Ljósvetninga saga! What happens when a powerhouse trial lawyer and his equally driven wife trade suits and city life for vines and vision in Oregon's Willamette Valley? You get LucidWild — a boutique winery rooted in purpose, passion, and one hell of a view.In this episode of the Weinnotes Podcast, I sit down with Blair and LJ Nicholas, the couple behind LucidWild, to talk about their incredible journey from the courtroom and corporate world to crafting wine with soul and intention. This isn't a “retirement” story — it's a second chapter fueled by grit, heart, and a relentless desire to create something lasting from the land.We kick things off with a blind tasting (spoiler: it's a 2016 Chardonnay from their winemaker, the iconic Isabelle Meunier), and then get into the backstory of how LucidWild came to be. From their early inspiration on a trip to Tuscany to planting 300 vines in their backyard, Blair and LJ share how the spark of curiosity turned into a full-blown calling. You'll hear how they fell in love with Oregon wine after hearing a Burgundian winemaker tell them, “This is not about the winemaker. This is about the land.” That philosophy stuck. It's the soul of LucidWild, where every decision — from native ferments to the intentional layout of their immersive, multi-room tasting experience — honors the land and the stories it tells.LJ takes us behind the design of Lucid Wild's stunning new tasting space, from the Sky Room to the speakeasy hidden in plain sight. Her approach? Experiential and emotional design that invites guests to feel like they're walking into a friend's home — not a pretentious wine fortress. You'll hear about their “ideal lab” for business meetings, a game room with billiards and bocce, and how the bathrooms (yes, the bathrooms) became an unlikely Instagram hotspot thanks to the label artwork proudly displayed inside.Blair gets real about why he left law — not to escape, but to build something with meaning. He shares how LucidWild's wine lineup reflects different expressions of their estate vineyard. Every bottle is made from 100% estate fruit, and they even use a golf cart to take guests right to the vines where the wine comes from. It's about connection to the land, to each other, and to the stories shared over a great glass of wine.We talk about their exciting new sparkling wine collaboration made by Isabelle Meunier and her husband, acclaimed sparkling winemaker Andrew Davis. It's their first sparkling release and a labor of love that brought both families together around the table (literally) to taste through styles and build something uniquely Oregon.Throughout the interview, we dig into what makes Oregon wine, and Willamette Valley in particular, so special right now. From world-class Pinot and Chardonnay to a rising sparkling scene, Blair and LJ are bullish on the valley's future and grateful to be part of a region where intention still matters more than mass production. We also lighten things up with a round of rapid-fire questions. LJ wants the superpower to duplicate herself (because who doesn't?), Blair wants to solve homelessness, and they both agree that wine is best enjoyed with good people, good music, and a whole lot of heart.Lucid Wild isn't just a winery. It's a philosophy, a commitment to making beautiful wines that reflect place, people, and purpose. Whether you're a wine lover, a design nerd, or someone dreaming of your own next chapter, this episode is full of inspiration, real talk, and a little sparkle (literally and figuratively).

Ed, Rob, and Jeremy took some time from Wednesday's BBMS to debate what type of “regression” we'll see from Lamar Jackson in 2025. LJ put together one of the greatest seasons in NFL history in 2024. He won't be able to that two years in a row, right?
In this episode, the Ljósvetnings and Möðruvellings maneuver to position themselves to maximize potential outcomes in the aftermath of the battle of Battle Hill. While Þorvarður Höskuldsson does his best to calm tensions and shield his allies, Eyjólfur Guðmundarson wants more than financial compensation for the killing of his "beloved" brother Koðrán. And just like last time, both sides rally supporters from far and wide, each determined to force the results that benefit them most. As the thing draws near, the risk of open violence continues to loom large. And when everyone arrives, there's a very real chance that Eyjólfur will get the bloody revenge he's been thirsting after, even if it means dooming many of his own men in the process. Quick note: In the episode, I think we say this meeting takes place at the Althing. I'm convinced (this is Andy here) that the conflict takes place at the local thing in the north and not at the Althing. These few chapters capture the tensions and drama that we love most in the sagas: carefully laid legal strategies, preparations for battle, and the ever-present threat that everything is about to pop off in spectacular fashion. Will everything resolve with a fair and equitable legal resolution? Or will Eyjólf water the grounds of the thing site with the blood of his enemies (and his companions)? There's only one way to find out!
