Week 2 of the NFL season brought chaos: multiple starting quarterbacks went down, Josh Allen continued his historic pace, and the Chargers found new ways to lose. LJ, Kevin, Tony, and Pops break it all down, debate the best way to watch Sunday football, and somehow end up arguing about throwing bagged dog poop in strangers' trash cans.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

The NFL is already separating the contenders from the pretenders, and Throw Up Tackle is trying to make sense of the chaos. THE! Mario Washington, The Dok, and LJ debate whether Josh Allen and the Bills are the class of the league, which teams are already in serious trouble, and what to make of the Chiefs, Seahawks, 49ers and Rams after the opening weeks of the season. Then sports and culture collide as the crew dives into the controversy surrounding Macklemore being dropped from Ed Sheeran's tour and debates the role NFL owners played in the decision. Somehow that turns into Chris Brown, Kanye West, Master P and Silkk the Shocker before the guys finally get to their Week 3 NFL picks, including Panthers-Browns, Ravens-Cowboys and Eagles-Bears.Check out Throw Up Tackle on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/@fourcastsportscltCheck out Throw Up Tackle on our website at http://www.fourcastsports.com/throwuptackleBe sure to like and subscribe! It's NFL Week 3, and THE! Mario Washington, The Dok, and LJ are back to put their picks on the record. The crew debates whether Carolina can keep things rolling against Cleveland, whether Deshaun Watson is actually playing better than people think, and whether Houston is already facing a must-win situation. Then things get heated over Ravens-Cowboys as LJ continues to question Lamar Jackson while still believing in America's Team. The guys also get into the struggling Steelers, the surprising Raiders, Rams-Broncos and Monday night's Eagles-Bears matchup, where Mario refuses to pick against Chicago no matter who is playing quarterback. And because it's Throw Up Tackle, somehow the road to Week 3 also includes Hot Boyz, Silkk the Shocker, O.J. Simpson and plenty of completely unnecessary side conversations.Check out Throw Up Tackle on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/@fourcastsportscltCheck out Throw Up Tackle on our website at http://www.fourcastsports.com/throwuptackleBe sure to like and subscribe! Ljóst varð í morgun að ríkisstjórnin ætlaði sér að setja lög á verkfall flugvirkja hjá Icelandair. Ekki kom þó til þess því flugvirkjar aflýstu verkfallinu. Icelandair og flugvirkjar lýstu því yfir að næstu fjórar vikur yrðu nýttar til markvissra viðræðna samkvæmt verkstýrðri áætlun ríkissáttasemjara. En þó að verkfallið hafi verið stutt, hafði það töluverðar afleiðingar. Rætt við Gylfa Dalmann Aðalsteinsson, prófessor og Finnbjörn A. Hermannsson forsta Alþýðusambands Íslands. Bæði viðskiptaþvinganir Vesturlanda gegn Rússlandi og svo ýmsar skorður sem Rússar leggja sjálfir á fjölmiðlun og fjarskipti í landinu gera það að verkum að fyrir erlent fjölmiðlafólk er erfitt að ferðast til Rússlands og að senda þaðan fréttir um lífið í landinu eftir að Rússar réðust inn í Úkraínu. Jón Björgvinsson fréttaritari RÚV fékk þó vegabréfsáritun til að fylgjast með nýafstöðum þingkosningum, í Moskvu.

Í Víðsjá dagsins höldum við áfram með bókaklúbbinn okkar; Aldrei las ég Laxness. Í síðustu viku komumst við aðeins hálfa leið með stórvirkið Heimsljós sem fjallar um ævi Ólafs Kárasonar Ljósvíkings, skálds og hreppsómaga og vegferð hans á þjáningarbraut lífsins. Í þessum seinni þætti ræðum við Bára Gísladóttir, tónskáld, um seinni bindin tvö: Hús skáldsins og Fegurð himinsins. Þátturinn var unninn í samstarfi við Forlagið. Grafík: Silvía Sif Ólafsdóttir

On this episode of Throw Up Tackle, THE! Mario Washington, The Dok, and LJ start in college football as Ole Miss spoils Lane Kiffin's return to Oxford and Trinidad Chambliss puts together another huge performance. That leads to a heated debate about projecting college quarterbacks to the NFL before the guys turn their attention to the NFC South, where Bryce Young and the Panthers offense are rolling while the Atlanta Falcons are already dealing with major quarterback problems. The crew also gets into the growing list of NFL injuries, including the scare surrounding Caleb Williams, before shifting to Colin Kaepernick's return to the headlines with his new memoir. His comments about Jay-Z and the NFL spark a much bigger conversation about Kaepernick's legacy, what happened to his football career, the impact of his protest, and how that story should be viewed nearly a decade later.Check out Throw Up Tackle on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/@fourcastsportscltCheck out Throw Up Tackle on our website at http://www.fourcastsports.com/throwuptackleBe sure to like and subscribe! Tyler and David open the podcast by recapping Iowa's 2-0 start and discussing how FanDuel shifted Iowa's season win total from 7.5 to 8.5 after the Iowa State win. They preview Northern Iowa as a tune-up week for backups and rest, noting Kirk Ferentz suggested DJV and Kamari Moulton likely won't play much, with Zach Lutmer also banged up, while LJ may return soon and Tyler Brown is getting reps again. They evaluate Iowa's defense, Cam Buffington's 15-tackle game and growth areas, and identify potential breakout players like Thomas Meyer, Evan James, Iose Epenesa, and Julian Manson. Offensively, they say Hank Brown likely secured the QB job with a key deep ball to Tony Diaz, praise Diaz's route running, critique Brown's reads at times, and credit special teams—Buhr and holder Tanner Philpott—for decisive plays. LJ Mitchell has spent a decade as the music director of Elevation Worship, and he joins me for a conversation that begins with performed faith and refuses to stay on the surface. Because the reason we broadcast the walk is the same reason we cannot put down the role: we have confused what we do with who we are, and we are frightened of who we would be without the applause. We talk about releasing what you're known for, the hidden work of formation that no one claps for, and the wilderness that excavates the false scaffolding out of you. LJ is not saying this from a safe distance; he is telling you what it cost him to loosen his grip while he was still holding the thing. Við héldum áfram að fara yfir sviðið, bókstaflega, og forvitnast um það sem er á leiksviðum landsins á nýhöfnum leikvetri. Í dag kom til okkar Snæbjörn Brynjarsson leikhússtjóri Tjarnarbíós. Tjarnarbíó hefur verið kallað heimili frjálsu leikhópanna og Snæbjörn sagði okkur frá fjölbreyttri dagskrá vetrarins í þættinum. Svo kom Helga Lára Þorsteinsdóttir, safnstjóri RÚV, til okkar með gullmola af safni RÚV. Í dag kom hún með brot frá árinu 1963, þar sem Stefán Jónsson umsjónamaður fréttaauka fór í Skeiðarétt og ræddi við til dæmis fjallkóngana Magnús Árnason og Sigurgeir í Skáldabúðum, Guðmund Stefánsson gangnamann og Jónu Magnúsdóttur kvenfélagskonu auk þess sem við heyrðum kraftmikil tilsvor Páls Árnasonar sem var fjallkóngur í marga áratugi. Það er óhætt að segja að réttarstemningin skilar sér í þessu stórskemmtilega 63gja ára gamla innslagi. Lesandi vikunnar í Mannlega þættinum í þetta sinn var Rán Tryggvadóttir, lögfræðingur og doktor í höfundarétti. Hún sagði okkur frá því hvaða bækur hún hefur verið að lesa undanfarið og hvaða bækur og höfundar hafa haft mest áhrif á hana í gegnum tíðina. Rán talaði um eftirfarandi bækur og höfunda: Ljóð Emily Dickinson Berhöfða líf eftir Magnús Sigurðsson Things in Nature Merly Grow e. Yiyun Li Sálarljóð - úrval erlendra ljóða í þýðingu Atla Harðarsonar Drag plóg þinn yfir bein hinna dauðu e. Olga Tokarczuk sem Árni Óskarsson íslenskaði Handmaid's Tale e. College football is officially back, and Throw Up Tackle has plenty to talk about. THE! Mario Washington, The Dok, and LJ break down LSU's 51-10 destruction of Clemson, Miami's explosive opening performance, and Michigan escaping Western Michigan on a controversial last-second Hail Mary. But the big question is in Clemson: has Dabo Swinney's refusal to fully adapt to the new era of college football finally caught up with him, or has he earned the right to fix it?Then the conversation shifts from the field to one of sports and pop culture's strangest stories. The guys revisit O.J. Simpson and the unaired prank show Juiced, debate why O.J. remains such a fascinating figure decades later, and try to make sense of the fact that somebody once thought O.J. jumping out and telling unsuspecting people they'd been “juiced” was a good idea.Check out Throw Up Tackle on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/@fourcastsportscltCheck out Throw Up Tackle on our website at http://www.fourcastsports.com/throwuptackleBe sure to like and subscribe! Football is back, and Throw Up Tackle is making some bold predictions. THE! Mario Washington, The Dok, and LJ reveal their NFL Final Four and Super Bowl picks, with the Rams getting plenty of love while the Dallas Cowboys somehow find their way into the conversation. The crew also predicts this season's MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, Coach of the Year and top rookies, with names like Matthew Stafford, Joe Burrow, Myles Garrett, Will Anderson and Carson Beck all entering the debate. Then the conversation takes a serious turn as the guys debate Druski's controversial football skit depicting the effects of repeated head trauma. Was it simply comedy pushing boundaries, or did the CTE subject matter cross a line that shouldn't be played for laughs?Check out Throw Up Tackle on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/@fourcastsportscltCheck out Throw Up Tackle on our website at http://www.fourcastsports.com/throwuptackleBe sure to like and subscribe!
