As the Cubs prepare for opening day 3.0 let's take a look at how things are going through the season's first nine games. The bullpen stinks, Big Jimmy Taillon's no great shakes, but most everything else is pretty good. Kyle Tucker's awesome, the catchers are playing out of their minds, Dansby and Petecrow are catching everything in sight and Shōta's still great. Seiya had to waddle through the field to go take an interpreter-assisted poop and he's been hitting ever since. Justin Steele will figure it out, Ryan Pressly can't be this bad (right?) and the schedule softens up...in a month. So things are going pretty well all things considered.

She discusses factors contributing to isolation, such as loss of a spouse and health issues limiting mobility. 2. Health Impacts of Isolation: The conversation explores how social isolation can lead to mental health issues like depression and anxiety, as well as physical health problems, including increased risk for heart disease and cognitive decline. 3. Role of Market Research: Sherri emphasizes the potential of market research to uncover the needs and preferences of older adults, helping to develop products and services that cater to their specific requirements. 4. Technological Solutions: The discussion covers how technologies like virtual reality and wearables can help mitigate social isolation and health issues among seniors by providing immersive experiences and real-time health monitoring. 5. The guys kick around all of the important issues this week like, how long has Dansby Swanson's offensive slump been going on (a long time), who should be the Cubs fourth outfielder when Seiya Suzuki returns and why should it be Ian Happ, and what to do with Petecrow when Seiya's return happens. They also ponder just how well Nick Madrigal would need to hit to actually be worth a big league roster spot and what current big leaguer can be used as the minimum threshold for that? They kick around ideas for Cubs' closer and make the case why Cade Horton's pitch and innings limit are fine but they should be occurring in Chicago, not Des Moines. They also make fun of how bad the Cardinals are, check out the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and talk about the time the Chicago Blitz traded themselves to Arizona. All that, and more, like the intro music to The Fall Guy, Gil Thorp comics and other stuff. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/desipio/message

In all the moments of our lives, whether we're dealing with depression or anxiety, or navigating the responsibilities of taking care of other people, or simply trying to make our days have more depth and meaning, our connection to others is key to our well being. Through prayer, intentionality, and consideration, we can strengthen that cord that ties us to others and build relationships that become a lifeline when things get hard. This week, we're joined by Dansby Swanson, a major league baseball player for the Chicago Cubs. Dansby shares the ups and downs of being a major league baseball player, including the stress and anxiety that comes with the job–and how his connections to his family, caring coaches, friends, and to God, made all the difference in getting a handle on his depression.  Later in the episode, we'll hear from John Inazu, a professor of law and religion, who discusses how we can foster healthier conversations around challenging topics, creating understanding and connection even with those who disagree with us. Jesus is the one that lived a perfect life so that He could sacrifice Himself for our shortcomings.” - Dansby Swanson “I think the way we respond to hostility or adversaries, even if we don't win the point, we might actually still model a kind of relationship or model the fruits of the spirit in a way that will make that other person pause.” - John Inazu “I think we are formed by the people around us most deeply when we give them permission and find the time to sit with conversation and listen and pause.” - John Inazu  “There will be times in life and roles that you have where you're not equipped yet to jump into that hard conversation. Prayer has to be the anchor of this; that you wake up and you thank God for the part that you get to play in His story, and then you ask for more of the fruits of the spirit.” - John Inazu  ________________________ Enjoy watching these additional videos from Jesus Calling YouTube channel! On May 18, 1989, 2-year-old Christopher Dansby was playing with his mother at the Martin Luther King Jr. Towers playground in Harlem, New York. His mother, Allison Dansby, needed to run an errand and left Christopher in the care of her own mother. Upon Allison's return, Christopher was nowhere to be found, vanishing without a trace. Then, nearly three months later on August 10, 1989, one-year-old Shane Anthony Walker was also at the same playground in Harlem with his mother, Rosa Glover, when Rosa was momentarily distracted, Shane disappeared. The circumstances of these disappearances raise questions, was there a potential connection in these cases or was this an inexplicable coincidence? Regardless  these cases have baffled not only investigators, but the families and their community alike. Anyone with information about  Shane or Christopher is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1800-577-TIPS or you can call the New York Police Department at 646-610-6914 or the New York Housing Police Department at 212-410-8500. 8 Click here to join our Patreon.  Connect with us on Instagram and join our Facebook group.  To submit listener stories or case suggestions, and to see all sources for this episode: https://www.inhumanpodcast.com/

And just like that, Thanksgiving was here. Thanksgiving is a strange one for me. So much of Thanksgiving was spent by me, normally at my Mom and Dad's, cooking and watching football. We were such a small family, but I really do cherish that time that I got and those small and intimate moments with my parents. I realize only now how truly lucky I was to have great people who loved me and never did anything BUT support me. As a parent myself, I now see some real jerks who never had any business having a child. My folks were the best, and I'm just trying to bring a bit of that to my friends and family during Thanksgiving. Sorry, I got mushy there for a bit. But truthfully, I care about you guys, and I wish you and your friends and family the BEST Thanksgiving ever! In 1989 two toddlers, Christopher Dansby and Shane Walker, went missing from the Martin Luther King Jr. Towers Playground in Harlem. Their case remains unsolved, and the boys have never been found. There were some other missing children that some believe could be connected with the disappearances of Christopher and Shane. Join Mike and Gibby as they discuss Christopher Dansby's and Shane Walker's disappearances. In the beginning, the police did not believe that the two were connected. But, eventually, they came to believe that a connection was possible. Eyewitnesses gave descriptions of a man in each disappearance. Some theorize that both boys were abducted as part of an illegal adoption ring.
