Key Takeaways • Life is about counterbalancing. • No one can be an island. You need good mentors around you • Our thoughts are often wrong due to outdated limiting beliefs.   “We do things based on feeling and that's a really horrible way to live life because most of the time we actually do a lot of things that we feel like doing that are not in our best interest,” shares Shaun Cook, owner of Crucible Strength, NASM performance and enhancement specialist, USA Powerlifting competitor, and certified nutrition coach. Shaun has been involved in training for almost 20 years and has learned quite a few lessons along his career. Today, he joins host Dr. Andrew Fix to talk about the sport of life made simple.   People often make life more complicated than it needs to be. They believe all sorts of lies from limiting beliefs created in childhood to the popular myth of needing to create a balanced life. Instead of choosing their actions through careful consideration, most people act based purely on feelings. It would be much simpler if people took the time to sit with themselves and really figure out their purpose. Without being very clear on their purpose, people can quickly become distracted and get in their own way.    Success requires intentionality, and intentionality comes from knowing your purpose. Once you know your purpose, it will be easier to stay motivated, organize your priorities, and shut out limiting beliefs and distractions.   Quotes • “You can't be an island. That's one of the big things is you need good people, good mentors around you.” (25:58-26:05 | Shaun) • “It's so much easier to see someone else's problems than it is your own.” (42:30-42:33 | Shaun) • “We do things based on feeling and that's a really horrible way to live life because most of the time we actually do a lot of things that we feel like doing that are not in our best interest.” (44:31-44:43 | Shaun) • “A lot of our thoughts are primed the wrong way. They're lying to us. Once you can crack that, you unlock a lot of potential in what you can do.” (50:21-50:31 | Shaun) • “What a lot of people are lacking is intentionality. And intentionality comes from having a purpose.” (1:16:34-1:16:41 | Shaun)    Links Connect with Shaun Cook: Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/crucible_strength/   Connect with Physio Room:  Website | https://physioroomco.com/  Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/physioroomco/ Facebook | https://www.facebook.com/physioroomco Andrew's Personal Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/dr.andrewfix/  Andrew's Personal Facebook | https://www.facebook.com/andrew.fix.9/   Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm

I am so excited about what we have going on on the podcast this year for 2023. We are going to be doing a series of monthly challenges, and they're really all about different ways to implement self-care. Each month there'll be something new to help you get in self-care in a way that's really doable, in a way that's really simple, in a way that supports your mom life. So I get it. We don't want to add something really big and difficult and challenging and hard. That's the reason why most New Year's resolutions fail because we try something that's too big. We bite off more than we can chew. We get in this place where it just makes it too much to add one more thing. These series of challenges are going to be different. They are going to be very doable, but what you will find as you implement each one is that you'll notice changes. Doing little things are going to impact how you live your day, how you live your life, and looking back at the end of each month, at the end of each challenge, you can really evaluate: When I did that for a month, What happened? How did that work out for me? Is this a habit that I want to keep? Is this making a difference in my life? And so that is what 2023 is all about here at Mom's Life Made Simple, and I'm so excited for you to be a part of it. Welcome to MOMS life made simple the podcast for moms who want to go from chaos to calm from overwhelmed, to organize and to find balance between family responsibilities and personal growth. I'm your host Chanelle Neilson. Let's make mom life simple.  Hello and welcome to mom's life made simple I'm Chanel Neilson, and today is just a short introductory episode to let you know who I am and what to expect from the podcast. So, like I said, my name's Chanel. I live in Southern California with my husband. We've been married since the year 2000. And we have five kids. Our oldest just started her first year at college, and our youngest just started transitional kindergarten, which is a grade, an extra grade here for kids that whose birthdays are between September and December and didn't make the cutoff and they get to go to school an extra year before kindergarten. And our three middle children are all boys. So we have only boys here at home and we have a lot of fun with them. I love yoga. I love being outside, going for walks in the sunshine. I love the warm weather and I love dark chocolate. A lot of it. So I'm glad that it's good for you. And I also really love learning. I love teaching and I love helping and connecting with moms. And I really see a lot of moms feeling that motherhood is hard feeling that. Feeling of being overwhelmed or struggling or wanting to do things for themselves and feeling like that's not even an option whether that's self care or working on. Big goals, like creating a business or writing a book or running a marathon or those kinds of things feel that they can't do all that they want to, and can't live up to their potential because of their motherhood. And I love to help moms to find that balance between being the best moms that they can, because I believe motherhood is so important and doing those things that fill and uploading. But you as a person. And I think that that's what I, where I shine is helping moms simplify things and make their lives just a little bit more simple so that they can do both really. So the way that I do this and what this podcast will focus on is the mom's method, which is making life simple through M O M S. And that stands for manifestation organization, mobilization and simplification. So manifestation is really. I like to think of it as spiritual creation or co-creation with God. And what this means to me is living with intention. It means really understanding what it is you want in your life, what you are hoping to accomplish and achieve and believing that you can get there. It's listening to those desires that I believe were placed in you by God. And. Working with him to get where you want to go. So that manifestation also takes space. That you will be able to accomplish what you want to accomplish, and that belief is going to sustain you in the things that you do next is organization. So when I'm talking about organization, we're talking about organizing your thoughts, organizing your day, your schedule organizing. The space, your environment. And when we're really organized, what happens is we're able to prioritize. We're able to start doing the things that are important instead of the things that are urgent as moms, there are so many things that demand our attention right now, and those urgent. Feel, and sometimes are important. However, what's really important to you to that big picture vision that you have for your life to that big picture vision that God has for your life. What are those important things? Are they even making it into your schedule? Are they making it into your day? Proper organization of your day is what's going to allow you to make progress on those. The next M is mobilization mobilization means taking action. One of the best ways that we can take action is through tiny, daily repeated, consistent actions. So what that means, habits, habits, and routines. When we take little actions, Every day, we're going to see consistent and steady progress. And as moms who have a lot of demands on our time, this is really the best way to see forward momentum and to see progress often we can't just block out, you know, a few weeks to work on a project because there's life, there's a family meeting us and we need to. Take care of their needs. And yet when we have daily actions that allow us to make progress on the things that matter to us, we'll still be able to see things happening toward our personal goals. So our habits and routines. Serve us. And they help us create both the present and the future that we're looking to build. Finally, the S is for simplification. So simplification means clearing out any of the things that are holding you back. So you want to simplify your stuff, simplify your physical space. When we have too many things, It weighs on us and those things demand space in our home space, in our energy, and they kind of can weigh us. We also want to simplify our minds, mental simplification, what is weighing us down mentally that doesn't need to be there, that we can clear out when we simplify and we get rid of the things that aren't serving us, we're able to really make progress. We're able to be more joyful and to create the kind of life that we're looking to have. So this podcast will focus on. Manifestation organization, mobilization and simplification. So each week I will bring you brand new episodes that will help uplift, inspire you and help you to make your mom life more simple. I would love it. If you would rate and review this podcast in iTunes. And share it with a friend that really will help the podcast to grow. And I appreciate that when you take the time to do that, I also would love it. If you reached out, let me know when an episode stands out to you, what did you like about it?  What further questions do you have?  I have podcasted in the past, but I stepped away from podcasting to coach because I wanted that conversation. Now I'm back in the podcast world and so thrilled to be here, but I want to keep this conversation going. And so let me know  what questions you have, what stands out so that  we can keep the conversation going. I hope to see you here each week on mom's life made simple.

For today's episode of Life Made Simple, I continue with the topic of good intentions... as in something we keep with a good intention to DO, MAKE, FINISH, or FIX. We all have those kinds of projects in our life. Things that we start, we intended to do, but for whatever reason we just haven't finished yet. But what happens when those projects pile up? When those good intentions begin to clutter our home, and weigh on our minds (because you know they do). So often, those good intentions - those projects left undone - become negative feelings of guilt.   For today's episode, I talk about finishing what you start. But not about HOW to finish what you start (I'll actually give you tips on that next week). Instead, we look at how to determine whether something should be finished or not.   Links Mentioned in this Show: Episode #223: A More Positive Perspective Of Packrats Episode #79: You Need To Know The 4 D's Of Productivity   Share this Episode: CarlaRaeArneson.com/episode225 Share this Podcast: LifeMadeSimplePodcast.com   Simplicity University: SimplicityU.com   Free Guide:  "9 Ways to Simplify Your Life"   Or send a text to 44222 with the word 9SIMPLIFY   Free Download: "5 Steps to Organizing Your Home"  Or send a text to 44222 with the word ORGANIZE   Website: CarlaRaeArneson.com Facebook: Facebook.com/CarlaRaeArneson   Submit Questions & Comments: CarlaRaeArneson.com/AskCarlaRae

Stephanie returns to our show for part 2-- because after successfully tackling my garage and basement, I found myself stymied by my master bedroom closet. All of the "Shoulds" that surround this -the desire and overwhelming urges to pare down and be minimalist in my wardrobe (ahem, decision fatigue), combined with these emotional ties (I guess?) to my clothes and shoes- even those I've owned since law school, even those I never wear. Why is this so hard to part ways with this "Stuff" when the rest of the house came easily for me... ?

We've all done it before... we find the next miracle product that promises amazing results. We use it. We then discover that it's not as amazing as we thought it would be. But since we've already used part of it, we don't want to "waste" it. We feel guilty about spending money on it, so we keep it. We then stash it in the back of a drawer or in a cabinet. Or even worse, we leave it out somewhere to collect dust in hopes that it will strike our fancy again one day. But it never does. Or sometimes we just keep using the product, even if we don't like it, even if it doesn't do what we were hoping it would do. We all have those half-used products sitting around our home. We hang on to them because we feel guilty and we don't want to be wasteful. Have you ever noticed, whenever you go to a scheduled event, meeting, or party, that about 1 in 5 people show up late? If you're a punctual person, you've for sure noticed it... probably because you get a little annoyed by habitually late people. A study done at San Francisco State University found that about 20% of the U.S. population is chronically late. And while it does seem very rude and inconsiderate (especially to people who tend to always be on time), it’s not necessarily because they don’t value others’ time. It's a lot more complicated than that. I know this because, like I confessed way back in episode #19, I used to struggle with being on time. Yes, kind of ironic, since I am technically a time management specialist. Over the years, I've gotten much better. And now, I actually tend to be a little early to events. Considering being about 5-10 minutes late was an ingrained habit since I was in my teens, it took a lot for me to change my ways. Not only did I have to evaluate my mindsets and figure out WHY I was always late, but I also had to change my relationship with time. Just like chronically late people tend to baffle those who tend to be on time, punctual people tend to bewilder those that are always late. I remember I used to look at who are always on time to everything and I'd wonder, "how is it that they are always on time? How do I turn into someone like that? Someone who shows up early and finishes projects with time to spare?" Yes, to me, those people were mystifying. But if you ever want to be more successful in any area of life, you need to take a look at what other successful people are doing. So for today's episode of Life Made Simple, we look at exactly what punctual people do to be punctual. We look at  7 habits of people who are always on time. Around this time last year, my son was starting kindergarten. As a home organizer, I naively thought that I was completely prepared for the school year. Boy, was I wrong! After the first week I was so overwhelmed. No one warned me. There was so much to do! And it was unbelievable how much stuff came home every day in his backpack... letters from the teacher, from the principal, flyers, stuff to fill out, supplies to buy, things to sign, events I needed to put in the calendar, and meetings to arrange. And that was only the half of it. I was also overwhelmed with how much school work he would bring home to show me. And since I'm so sentimental, in the beginning I kept most of it. I've had many clients with school aged children and I've helped many of them organize their homework areas, figure out their schedules, and so on. I figured it was going to be easy peasy for me to transition into a new schedule. But until I was actually a parent of a school aged child, I had no idea how much time, energy, and space it was all going to take up in my life. After I spent the first couple weeks in shock and survival mode, I finally got a grip and developed new routines, rituals and habits that helped our mornings and afternoons go more smoothly. I also figure out really great systems that helped me to manage the piles of papers and to-dos that flooded our dining room table. So, this year, for Levi's first week of 1st grade I was totally prepared! I knew exactly what to expect. While it is still a drastic change from our summer routine and kind of a shock to the system in a way, I can confidently say, I've got this! Unfortunately, I know that there are many other parents out there who are still drowning in the back to school chaos and craziness. I've actually had a handful of listeners reach out to me this month sharing just how stressful the back to school season is for them and asking for some tips and advice. So, for this episode of Life Made Simple, I share with you some of the organizing tips and routines that we've implemented in our own family that can help get the school year off to a good start for you and your family. While the tips and strategies I give you are mainly geared towards children in elementary school you can still get a lot from this episode even if you have older kids.   Links Mentioned in this Show: Episode #63: You Need More Margin Time (CarlaRae Confesses)   Share this Episode: CarlaRaeArneson.com/episode101 Share this Podcast: LifeMadeSimplePodcast.com   Simplicity University: SimplicityU.com   Free Guide:  "9 Ways to Simplify Your Life"   Or send a text to 44222 with the word 9SIMPLIFY   Free Download: "5 Steps to Organizing Your Home"  Or send a text to 44222 with the word ORGANIZE   Website: CarlaRaeArneson.com Facebook: Facebook.com/CarlaRaeArneson   Submit Questions: CarlaRaeArneson.com/AskCarlaRae

#100: Get Motivated And Stay Motivated

Life is messy. It's chaotic. And sometimes it's overwhelming. By clearing out the clutter in all areas of life, we can somehow find peace, happiness, and freedom. But it's a journey that takes time and effort. And to help you on this journey, through this show, I want to offer you all the tips, techniques and action plans that I've successfully taught all my home organizing clients over the years and have also implemented in my own life. But, like I've mentioned before in previous episodes, a good action plan is not always enough. Many other experts in the field agree that success - in anything in life - is only 20% strategy and 80% psychology. You not only need good strategies and action plans to simplify your life, but you need good mindsets and discipline to actually implement those strategies. Which is why on this show, I put a lot of emphasis on not just practical tips and techniques, but also on the psychology behind it all. Motivation is key. We all must learn how to get motivated and how to stay motivated. You can have a good action plan to change your life, but if you don't have the motivation to do so, the action plan is useless. But, motivation doesn't always just happen naturally. Back in episode #51, I explained how it's almost impossible to wake up every day feeling motivated to reach all your goals and aspirations in life. You can't wait to feel motivated every day. You can't wait for motivation to find you. You need to find motivation! And how can you do that? Well, you need to surround yourself with motivational people and things. Daily personal development is one way to do that. Some people call it self-improvement, some call it self-help, or personal growth, self-actualization, self-transcendence, or even spirituality.  Whatever you want to call it, it's about setting time aside for reading books, listening to podcasts like this one, listening to audio books, or reading blogs that help motivate and inspire you to become a better person and live your best life. We all must make personal development a daily habit. Personal Development, of any kind is one nonnegotiable habit that you need to intentionally engage in every day... even when you don't feel like it. And if you do, I promise you, it will completely change your life. I know... for some of you the idea of "personal development" seems boring and unnecessary, but it's actually a secret to success for many people out there who are living very abundant lives.  And it's so easy to do! And it doesn't have to take up much time. Even just 5-10 minutes is enough. If you want more info and specific ideas on what to do for personal development, go back and check Episode #9 of Life Made Simple. So in honor of our 100th episode of Life Made Simple I want to encourage and challenge you, if you haven't already, intentionally make personal development a daily habit.     Links Mentioned in this Show: Share this Episode: CarlaRaeArneson.com/episode100 Share this Podcast: LifeMadeSimplePodcast.com   Simplicity University: SimplicityU.com   Free Guide:  "9 Ways to Simplify Your Life"   Or send a text to 44222 with the word 9SIMPLIFY   Free Download: "5 Steps to Organizing Your Home"  Or send a text to 44222 with the word ORGANIZE   Website: CarlaRaeArneson.com Facebook: Facebook.com/CarlaRaeArneson   Submit Questions: CarlaRaeArneson.com/AskCarlaRae

Today I am a mother of a 6 year old. Tomorrow, I will be the mother of a 7 year old. Yes... tomorrow my son, Levi, turns 7 and I feel like my little baby boy is growing up way too fast! For last week's episode of Life Made Simple I shared with you how crazy busy my life has been this summer. And I have to be honest, my son's birthday tomorrow is becoming a real eye opener for me. I know it's a cliché, but life is short. And sometimes when life gets crazy busy it's easy to rush through it all forgetting about the little things in life that make it worth living. As you know, I'm on a quest to simplify my life. Like I always say, I want to focus on what really matters and somehow let go of the rest. And for my husband and I, our son is what really matters. I want to soak up every little moment of these few precious years of his childhood. Because one day they will be gone and he'll be an adult... I am so desperate to wrap up every special moment and hang on to them forever! On this episode of Life Made Simple, I go over a list with you that I stumbled across a few months ago on a blog written by Erica Layne. I love it so much and have read it many times to myself. "32 Ways To Savor Your Children While You Have Them" (by Erica Layne) Watch them when they sleep. Inhale them after they bathe. Steal some extra time brushing your child’s hair. She says (A wet brush is a must!) Keep on brushing it straight through the teen years. Read the heartfelt things your kids write about you and let them sink in. (When our kids give us valentines or birthday cards, are we really taking their words in? It’s time to start.) Break a personal parenting rule or two. Be silly. Sing at the top of your lungs in the car, dance in the grocery store, pull a harmless prank. Let them climb into bed with you (sometimes). Don’t round UP on their ages. She says, even if your child turns 7 in two months, keep thinking of him as 6. There’s need to hurry childhood along, right? Fill your home with photos of them. Practice living simply so your mind is clearer, which—in my case—helps me experience more moments as they come. See your children through a camera lens. Capture not just their milestones but the scenes you see every single day. Choose one thing you can accept, rather than tolerate. Letting go can alleviate so much agitation. When they’re hurting, try to place yourself in a similar situation from your past and really remember what it felt like to be where they are. Prop your phone camera up and use the time lapse feature to record a family meal or a homework session. Looking at it later will help you appreciate the beautiful chaos of raising children. Watch them closely when their minds are fully engaged in something they love. Do something for you. Often. “You can’t pour from an empty cup.” Climb under some blankets and read to them. (And for those moments, choose not to let it bother you when you get sat on and accidentally elbowed a dozen times during your reading session.) Get rid of guilt. It’s clouding your view. Regularly take some time to remember your childhood. It’ll help you better appreciate theirs. Claim for yourself and your family a distraction-free block of time. A morning with your laptop closed, an afternoon away from your phone… you get the idea. Figure out and focus on what and who really matters to you. Make it your goal for a day to double the amount of eye contact you have with your children. When you pack away a size of clothing your child has outgrown, make a little ritual of remembering this last stage and how quickly it passed. Take more video footage! Build yourself a supportive village. Not a lot of “savoring” goes on when you’re parenting on an island (because Too much energy is going to survival). Organize some one-on-one dates with your children. If your child is old enough to text, take screen shots of cute text conversations you exchange. If hurrying makes you agitated, try building more free space into your schedule so you don’t have to rush so much between activities. Snuggle up with them for movie time. We do that a lot in our house. Listen. Experience something new with them—something they’ve never seen.   Links Mentioned in this Show: Episode #63: You Need More Margin Time (CarlaRae Confesses)   Share this Episode: CarlaRaeArneson.com/episode95 Share this Podcast: LifeMadeSimplePodcast.com   Simplicity University: SimplicityU.com   Free Guide:  "9 Ways to Simplify Your Life" Or send a text to 44222 with the word 9SIMPLIFY   Free Download: "5 Steps to Organizing Your Home"

Life Made Simple is a podcast show dedicated to helping you simplify all areas of your life: your home, your time and to-do's, your mindsets, your health, and even your messy relationships... which is what I talk about on today's episode. While I've been a professional home organizer for over 15 years now, I am not a neat freak. This weekend I was chatting with someone I had just met and after she asked what I did for a living she replied, "Your house must be perfectly clean and organized all the time." Yes, I get that a lot. But no... I have no shame in saying that my house is never perfectly clean and organized. Now technically if you looked in all our cupboards and closets they are definitely very organized... don't get me wrong, everything we own has logical home, which of course is one of the keys to staying organized.  But the fact is I have a husband, a six year old son, a dog, and a full time job. The struggle is real. My house is far from perfect. Now, many years ago before I was married I was definitely considered a "neat freak" and my house was immaculate. I was obsessively tidy. But now, nooooo way! It would be impossible to keep up with the steady stream of mayhem that flows through our house on a daily basis. Now, I know that our home isn't as bad as most... especially families with more kids. Luckily my husband isn't a complete slob and he always helps with cleaning up the house when it gets out of control. I've also been training my son to pick up his toys and put his dirty clothes in the hamper. But he's only six. I can really only expect so much. Years ago, for the sake of my sanity, I had to let go of my unrealistic expectations of keeping a perfectly tidy home There is nothing more frustrating than living with a spouse, a child, or even a roommate whose messy habits thwart your own efforts to stay organized. And when you're trying your hardest to simplify your home, trying to clean up after an untidy family member can be demoralizing. It's easy to just want to throw in the towel and give up. On today's episode we look at how to live with a messy family member without going insane.   Links Mentioned in this Show: Episode #55: (PART 1) How To Live With Someone Who Won't Change - "I Married A Pack Rat" Episode #57: (PART 1) How To Live With Someone Who Won't Change Episode #13: How To Simplify Any Messy Relationship In Your Life Episode #72: Try To Turn People Into Trees   Share this Episode: CarlaRaeArneson.com/episode85 Share this Podcast: LifeMadeSimplePodcast.com   Simplicity University: SimplicityU.com   Free Guide:  "9 Ways to Simplify Your Life"   Or send a text to 44222 with the word 9SIMPLIFY   Free Download: "5 Steps to Organizing Your Home"  Or send a text to 44222 with the word ORGANIZE   Website: CarlaRaeArneson.com Facebook: Facebook.com/CarlaRaeArneson   Submit Questions: CarlaRaeArneson.com/AskCarlaRae

Personal Development of any kind is one nonnegotiable habit that you need to intentionally engage in every day... and if you do, I promise you, it will completely change your life! Some people call it self-improvement, some call it self-help, or personal growth, self-actualization, self-transcendence, or even spirituality.  Whatever you want to call it, it's about setting time aside for reading books, listening to podcasts or audio books, or reading blogs that help motivate and inspire you to become a better person and live your best life. The fact is, each one of us has some area of life that we need a little inspiration and motivation in.  We all have aspirations, dreams, goals that we want to reach, whether it be success in your career, wealth, your health, relationships, living a happier lifestyle and so on. But like I explained back in episode #56 of Life Made Simple, it is almost impossible to wake up every day feeling motivated to reach those goals and aspirations in life. Motivation doesn't always just happen naturally. It doesn't consistently find us every day. We need to find motivation! And how do we do that? Well, we need to continually surround ourselves with things and people that keep us motivated to push us to reach those goals and accomplish the things that we really want in life.  We can't wait for those feelings of motivation to just magically appear. We need help sometimes. Daily personal development is one way to do that. We all should devote just a little bit of time every single day to some sort of personal development. Even if it's just a couple minutes. Examples of personal development include reading books, watching videos, or listening to Podcasts.  If you want more specific ideas, you can go back and listen to episode #9 or #56. Now, I have to admit, I'm not a big reader. I actually prefer to spend my daily personal development time listening to other podcast shows while I drive, shower, or do the dishes. But sometimes, I do enjoy reading a chapter here and there of a really good book. On today's episode of Life Made Simple I share with you 3 of my favorite personal development books.   Links Mentioned in this Show: Episode #9: Why You Must Make Personal Development A Daily Habit Episode #56: One Habit That Will Completely Change Your Life   Share this Episode: CarlaRaeArneson.com/episode77 Share this Podcast: LifeMadeSimplePodcast.com   Resources Page: CarlaRaeArneson.com/resources Buy on Amazon: Eat That Frog!   by Brian Tracy Buy on Amazon:  The DNA of Relationships   by Gary Smalley Buy on Amazon: The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth   by John Maxwell   Free Guide:  "9 Ways to Simplify Your Life"   Or send a text to 44222 with the word 9SIMPLIFY   Simplicity University: SimplicityU.com   Website: CarlaRaeArneson.com Facebook: Facebook.com/CarlaRaeArneson   Submit Questions: CarlaRaeArneson.com/AskCarlaRae

Not only is it one of the most downloaded episodes that we have, but it's also an episode that I continue to get numerous messages about from our listeners. In that episode I go into detail about my 5 Steps to Organizing Your Home. Here's a quick review... Consolidate all like items. Sort them by category. Purge and let go of anything you don't need or want. Find the best home for the items. Containerize by finding the best bins or containers, if needed.   Consolidate, sort, purge, find a home, and then containerize. Seems pretty straight forward right? Well, if it's that easy, then why do so many people get stuck, overwhelmed, and then end up needing help? If it were really that easy, I'd be out of a job! There are so many reasons why most people have a hard time organizing their home. There are many reasons why people get stuck. But there is one very common reason as to why many people get stuck and overwhelmed and then need to hire a professional organizer to help them finish the project . It's one of the main explanations as to why the end result of many organize efforts  ends up being hard to successfully maintain. It's because they organize backwards. And you just might be one of the many people who, without knowing it, organizes backwards. In today's episode I explain what it means to organize backwards, the many reasons WHY many people organize backwards, and 3 things you can do to prevent yourself from falling into that common trap.   Don't forget, Simplicity University will be open for registration this spring! All of us, of course, want to flourish and be successful in every aspect of our life. Right? Unfortunately, in this day and age, it is a common misconception that in order to be a better people, in order to BE more, we need to DO more. And the result? Well, we spread ourselves thin and then wonder why we aren't more productive. What if, instead of resolving to do more with our time, we try to do less? What kind of a positive effect could that have on us? Maybe we need to focus our energy into taking things off our plate rather than putting more things on. We all must come this realization: while many ideas and opportunities that cross our path charm us with their novelty, they are actually the arch-enemy of achieving our goals and dreams. New ideas and pursuits can sometimes be beneficial to us, but many times are just distractions that steer us off-course. So, how do we say "no" when we're faced with a variety of tasks that look appealing but might actually pull us in the wrong direction? Well, that's exactly what I talk about on this episode of Life Made Simple.   Know anyone would love listening to the show? Like I often talk about on the show, the key to simplifying your life is to figure out what's really important to you, focus only on those things that really matter, and let go of anything and everything that doesn't.  In order to have the life you've always dreamed of and become the person you've always wanted to be, you must put your time and efforts into pursuing your dreams, goals, and everything you value... and somehow let go of anything holding you back. And that's what we talk about today. On this episode of Life Made Simple, I talk about one amazing tool that will empower you to focus on what's really important in your life so that you can push forward and accomplish all your goals, dreams, and anything that you aspire to be. This one tool can be a total game changer if you give it a chance.  I started using it about two years ago and it's completely changed my life. That incredible tool that I'm referring to is called a Vision Board.  Do you have a vision board yet?  Well if you don't, then definitely tune in to today's show...  I tell you exactly why you need one, why it works, and I give you the specifics on how you can easily make one.   Links Mentioned in this Show: Share this Episode: CarlaRaeArneson.com/episode51 Share this Podcast: LifeMadeSimplePodcast.com   Episode #2: "Why Change Is So Hard" Episode #9: "Why You Must Make Personal Development A Daily Habit" Episode #16: "The Best Way To Reward Yourself When Reaching A Goal" Episode #34: "Do You Have A Power Phrase Yet?"     Free Guide:  "9 Ways to Simplify Your Life"   Or send a text to 44222 with the word 9SIMPLIFY   Free Download: "5 Steps to Organizing Your Home"  Or send a text to 44222 with the word ORGANIZE   Website: CarlaRaeArneson.com Facebook: Facebook.com/CarlaRaeArneson   Submit Questions: CarlaRaeArneson.com/AskCarlaRae

And it's completely free! That's right, it doesn't cost anything... it's FREE! Don't worry... if you're tuning in sometime after February 15th, it's not too late to join in the fun! Just click on the registration link and you can sign up to get notified when it becomes available in a couple months after the original event. The online event is called The Simple Living Summit. (A summit, if you don't know, is an online conference with interviews, presentations, and workshops from top experts in a field who teach and share their knowledge.) A few months ago, I was approached by the creator of The Simple Living Summit and I was asked to be a guest speaker for the program. I was so honored and of course couldn't turn the opportunity down! The purpose of this particular Summit is to spread the principle of simple living by giving you access to a large group of leading experts and mentors in the fields of psychology, home organizing, health, finance, career, travel, and relationships.... which of course are all the different areas I love to talk about on Life Made Simple!    On each day of the summit, a handful of interviews and workshops are released for you to watch. You'll have the opportunity to access to them for 48 hours after they're released... and you can watch them whenever it's convenient for you. You don't have to watch them at any particular time, so long as it's within the 48 hours. To register for the event, just click here: Simple Living Summit. Or you can just go to CarlaRaeArneson.com/Summit . Like I always say, this show is dedicated to helping you simplify ALL areas of your life. On today's episode I talk about one quote that I love and live by.  The truth is I could probably talk hours about this subject, but this "3 Minute Thursday" episode is meant to offer you a little dose of inspiration to get you through your week, so I keep it short and sweet. We just celebrated New Years and we are now officially in the year 2017! Like most Professional Home Organizers and other Life Coaches, I love January! Yes, I always get a handful of new clients this time of year - people seeking help and support to help keep their New Years Resolutions - but that's not the main reason I love January.   You see, in November during Thanksgiving we tend to focus on what we're thankful for in life, the blessing and good things that have come our way. In December, the world celebrates holidays that are full of life, light, and hope. And then comes January... time to reflect, reassess where we are in life, and redirect. I love this month, because to me it represents a fresh start. I love the excitement and anticipation for what the next year will bring. On our Monday episode of this week, I shared with you the New Year's Resolutions and commitments I made for myself this year to help simplify my life. Today, for our short and brief "3 Minute Thursday" episode I propose a little challenge for you. During this season, it's almost inevitable that you will spend some time reflecting on what you want more of in your life during this coming year, whether it me more love, good health, joy, wealth, and so on. But, during this time of renewed expectations and dreams, I challenge you to also spend some time thinking about what you want to LET GO OF this coming year.    Every single day of this coming year, I encourage you to let go of 1 thing each day. It's kind of a unique challenge called "365 Things in 365 Days".  Check out today's episode for more details. Know anyone would enjoy listening to the show? When you embark on a journey of personal change – whether it be transforming your home, health, relationships, or anything in life – one of the common pitfalls is believing the idea that you are either good or bad. That you are either a success or a failure. On today's episode, I share with you a story about a long time client of mine who got really discouraged when she had a rough few weeks at work and allowed her house to get a little messy and out of control. The fact is, you will always have up and down days. But during those down days, don’t be too hard on yourself, and don't just give up. Here is the key to making good changes in your life:  No matter how good or bad your day is, just be sure you are always moving onward and trending upward and, therefore, always improving over time. Imagine a traditional line graph chart of a business in growth mode… if you look at the details of the growth line, it has smaller jagged lines going up and down, but if you look at the graph as a whole, it's in the long run trending upward. Ultimately, you can grow and improve without having to be perfect every single day. Know anyone would love listening to the show? You might have noticed in the title of for today's show it says "CarlaRae Confesses". That's because every month or so on Life Made Simple, we feature a special  segment when yours truly admits to an area of my own life where I've fallen short in the whole simplicity department... certain areas of life where even I need a little extra help in. You've probably heard me talk about this before, but long before my days of being a Professional Home Organizer, I was actually a pack rat as a child. I was completely attached to everything I owned! Everything felt special to me and I wanted to keep it all. I'm also a recovering overachiever who used to commit to WAY more than one person could possible handle. And to this day (you can ask my husband) I still sometimes bite off more than I can chew. The fact is, in our crazy busy world it's HARD to simplify. And there's so much psychology behind it all! While I love helping all my client's push past anything holding them back from discovering true simplicity in life, I too am on this journey as well with them. I'm learning how to navigate through all the chaos as well. I too am learning how to focus only on what really matters in my life, which of course means letting go of what doesn't really matter... and that's not always easy.  I'm not a perfectionist, I'm not a holy than thou expert. I am a student of my own teachings. We're in this together! Which is why every once in awhile we feature an episode like this one called  "CarlaRae Confesses". So what do I confess on today's episode? Well, there is one area of my life that has recently gotten a little out of hand (ok, so actually, to be honest, it's gotten really out of hand). For this past year, I've been guilty of suffering from magazine overload. I have way too many magazines! First, I tell you exactly how I got myself into this dilemma. And the fact is I LOVE reading magazines... which means solving my problem isn't as easy as just tossing them all in the recycle bin. If you also love your magazine subscriptions, then you'll probably appreciate some of the solutions I have for you to help manage the magazines that you do love to collect, read, and keep. But then I also going to give you some very specific ways on how I plan to, not only let go of the majority of my magazine clutter, but exactly how I plan to prevent the problem from happening again. I tell you how I plan on stopping the madness once and for all! Do you know anyone would enjoy listening to the show? Anyone who could use a little motivation and inspiration to simplify their life? What do you collect? Coins, baseball cards, antiques, bottle caps, beer cans, comic books, miniatures, postcards, hats, spoons, stamps, thimbles, cookie cutters, teddy bears, frogs, action figures, concert tickets, magnets, or PEZ dispensers… the list goes on and on. Whatever the collection, in my 15 years of being a Professional Home Organizer, I’ve seen it all! Some are very valuable and worth a large chunk of change and other collections are simply for fun or nostalgia. The question is: Where is your collection? Do you keep it buried in a box in the basement? Or, worse, is it piled all over your guest bedroom, master closet, or home office cluttering up your usable space? Either way, how can you really appreciate what you have if it’s buried or becoming a burden? My challenge to you is to find a fun and clever way to display all or a part of your collection. It doesn’t necessarily need to be out for everyone to see. Albums of paper objects can be stored on bookshelves. If your collection is too big, consider exhibiting a few items, storing the rest, and then seasonally rotating. Then again, maybe you’ve decided that you don’t really want those hundreds of beanie babies that you used to love so dearly, or whatever collection you have that you're not as passionate about anymore. Maybe it’s time to consider moving on and letting go. Some collections can be sold or donated. If it’s too hard to get rid of them, only keep a handful of your favorites as a keepsake and let go of the rest. No sense keeping all of them if the collection is not cherished the way it used to be. Remember, when it comes to simplifying your home and your life, you need to focus and hang on to what really matters, and somehow let go of the rest! Know anyone would love listening to the show? Over the years, as a professional home organizer, I've done many workshops and other special speaking engagements.  And I absolutely love any opportunity that comes up to do so! Now, I know that most people dread and fear public speaking, but for some reason I love getting up to talk in front of a huge room full of people.    Well, last week I had the opportunity to speak to a mom's group here in the Seattle area. It was a MOPS group (which stands for mothers of preschoolers) and they invited me to talk about how to clean out your closet, which just so happened to be a recent podcast episode I did a few weeks ago, Episode #21 (so I really didn't have to spend very much time prepping for it). Anyways, during my talk, we discussed the psychology behind why it's so hard to let things go sometimes.  And since it was a room full of mothers, the conversation naturally turned into talking about our kids and going through their closets. Well, during the question and answer time at the end, one woman asked a really good question, " How can I help my child let go of stuff?" Unfortunately, I was very limited on time while I was speaking to the group and didn't feel like I was able to completely answer her question.  So this episode of Life Made Simple is going to be a special "Ask CarlaRae" episode, and I'm going to give you all my thoughts, opinions, and advice to help answer that really great question that many parents have asked me: "How can I help my child let go of stuff?" I have ALOT of  info to give you on this particular subject.  So much so, that we had to divide this episode into two parts. This week we'll do Part 1, and then next week we'll release Part 2. Today, I'm going to give you some techniques and tips on how and where to help your child donate their unused and unwanted toys, books, and clothes.  And then next Monday morning, for the Part 2 episode (Episode #27) I'm also going to give you some very specific strategies on how to help your child let go of things if they tend to be overly attached.  And then I'm going to give you some tips on how to prevent the clutter from coming back into your child's room.   Links Mentioned in this Show: Share this Episode: CarlaRaeArneson.com/episode25 Share this Podcast: LifeMadeSimplePodcast.com   Free Download: "How To Help Your Child Let Go Of Stuff"   Free Download: "5 Steps to Organizing Your Home"  Or send a text to 44222 with the word ORGANIZE   Free Guide:  "9 Ways to Simplify Your Life"   Or send a text to 44222 with the word 9SIMPLIFY   Website: CarlaRaeArneson.com Facebook: Facebook.com/CarlaRaeArneson   Submit Questions: CarlaRaeArneson.com/AskCarlaRae Full Transcript of this Episode: CarlaRaeArneson.com/transcript25

Well, on my to-do list is to record this podcast episode, go to a fundraiser assembly at my son's school, make a mortgage payment, and call a client who left me a message this morning. Those are the most important things that I need to get done today. What's on your to-do list today? Now here's my next question for you. What's on your ignore list for the day? Yes, your ignore list. #23: How to Exercise Without Really Exercising

I'm going to give you one strategy on how to improve your health and clean up your house, WITHOUT taking any additional time out of your schedule... sounds pretty amazing, right? Back in episode #7 of Life Made Simple, I gave you My Ultimate 3-Day Jumpstart to Good Health. On Day 3 of the jumpstart plan I have you take time to schedule in movement, as in exercise. Why? Because we all know that some sort of physical activity is important... it's what our bodies were designed to do! If we don't use our muscles regularly, if we just sit around all day, they will begin to get stiff and not work as well, which then makes us feel sluggish, and can even make us feel depressed. No movement also leads to a lower metabolism and weight gain. In that episode, I explain that if your health goals are to lose weight, build muscle, or get in shape, then you must schedule a few full body workout sessions. This could be going to the gym, hiring a trainer, joining a sports league, or even working out from home with a few workout videos. But, I know that so many of us just don't feel like we have the time to exercise. Or for some of you, if your honest with yourself, you just don't WANT to exercise, because for whatever reason, you just don't like it. Well, then this episode is for you! And then there's house cleaning and chores. Maybe you already have a really good exercise routine that you love. Maybe you actually enjoy making movement a priority in your life, but you completely  dread housecleaning and other mundane activities you have to do throughout your day.   I mean how many of us really love to clean house or pick up after our families? Well, then this episode is for you. Exercise and housecleaning. Two things that most people dread and usually have a hard time making time for. On today's episode I help you change your attitude about both of those activities. Like I said before, I'm going to help you to get healthier, thinner, and stronger while keeping your house clean, without changing a single thing in your schedule. How? Well, I am going to help you change your mindset and approach to both exercise and housecleaning, by - in a way - combining them. Like it says in the title of this episode, I'm going to teach you how to exercise without really exercising.   Links Mentioned in this Show: Free Printout: "Exercise Without Really Exercising"  Or send a text to 44222 with the word MOVEEVERYDAY   Free Guide:  "9 Ways to Simplify Your Life"     Or send a text to 44222 with the word 9SIMPLIFY   Share this Episode: CarlaRaeArneson.com/episode23 Share this Podcast: LifeMadeSimplePodcast.com   Website: CarlaRaeArneson.com Facebook: Facebook.com/CarlaRaeArneson   Submit Questions: CarlaRaeArneson.com/AskCarlaRae Full Transcript of this Episode: CarlaRaeArneson.com/transcript23

#19: Always Late? Here's What To Do About It! (CarlaRae Confesses)

Have you ever wondered why some people never seem to arrive to places on time? Now I know that everyone is late now and then, but I'm talking about people who tend to run late most of the time. Surely you must know someone in your life who is habitually late for almost everything. Some may run only 5, 10, 15 minutes late on occasion, so it's not always so noticeable. In those cases, they are late enough that it isn’t detrimental to their event, but still a little annoying to those around them.  But then there are those who run anywhere from 30 minutes to over an hour late. Know anyone like that? Well, no matter how late one might tend to be or how often, being late can become a bad habit. It's never good! Chronically late people can be so frustrating and baffling to anyone stuck waiting for them. Yet, it can be so hard to change that habit. Unfortunately, for a good percentage of Americans, three little words accompany their entrance into most business meetings, gym class, dinner with friends, or even dates... those three words are “Sorry, I’m late.” Again, I'm sure you know people who say those three words on a daily basis. And you might actually be able to admit that you are, in fact, one of those people. Are you a habitually late person? Well, I'm not sure if you noticed, but in the title of this episode it says "CarlaRae Confesses"... that's because every once in awhile on Life Made Simple, we are going to feature a special "CarlaRae Confesses" episode where Yours Truly confesses and talks about an area of my own life that I need extra help in... areas of my life that I need to simplify. Because, I'm definitely not perfect! So today, I have a confession for you. My confession is that I struggle with being on time. Yup, I hate to admit it, but I tend to run late sometimes. Kinda ironic, isn't it, considering I'm technically a Time Management Specialist. I guess it's just a classic case of "the cobbler's children go barefoot and have no shoes." Now, I can say that I've gotten MUCH better over the years, because I used to be really bad. I was rarely ever more than 20 minutes late, but I was chronically 5-15 minutes late most of the time.  Like I said, I've gotten much better, but I still find that I struggle with it. In today's episode I reveal WHY most people are habitually late... because there is a lot of psychology behind it. And then we talk about a handful of practical solutions, tips, and techniques that I've applied to my own life that can definitely help you to be on time more often.   Links Mentioned in this Show: Free Download:  "How To Be More Punctual"   Or send a text to 44222 with the word ONTIME   More on how to strengthen your willpower muscle: CarlaRaeArneson.com/episode3   Share this Episode: CarlaRaeArneson.com/episode19 Share this Podcast: LifeMadeSimplePodcast.com   Website: CarlaRaeArneson.com Facebook: Facebook.com/CarlaRaeArneson   Free Guide:  "9 Ways to Simplify Your Life"   Or send a text to 44222 with the word 9SIMPLIFY   Submit Questions: CarlaRaeArneson.com/AskCarlaRae Full Transcript of this Episode: CarlaRaeArneson.com/transcript19

#13: How to Simplify Your Relationships When Things Get Messy

Life Made Simple with CarlaRae

Play Episode Listen Later Sep 19, 2016 35:45

Life Made Simple is a show dedicated to helping you find simplicity in ALL areas of your life. For 15 years I've been helping families clear the chaos and clutter out of their homes. But you know what? Relationships in our lives can be messy, too! Am I right? Whether it be with your significant other, your parents, your kids, your friends, even your coworkers, relationships are complicated and even chaotic at times. And no matter how "good" your relationship is with someone, there are definitely times when they can be a little messy... and in some unfortunate cases A LOT messy. And along with any kind of messiness in life comes stress and anxiety. Which then weighs down our heart, negatively effects our health, and clouds our happiness. So, on this episode of Life Made Simple, I'm don't talk about how to simplify your house or your schedule. We take a look at one amazing technique to simplify your relationships. I practice this technique in my own life with many different kinds of relationships and believe me, it has helped relieve so much unnecessary stress! And I really believe, no matter how good or complicated your relationships are this technique can help you, too. You see, most conflicts, arguments, troubles, and issues in relationships revolve around external problems that rarely are the REAL problems of the relationship. Unfortunately, all of us tend to focus on surface issues as we fail to see the core problems. Like I explain in this episode, most conflicts escalate because we fall into a cycle of "button pushing". Yes, button pushing. As in I push your button, you push my button, then I push your button... and so on. And why do we have buttons? Because we all have fears. Deep down core fears that we aren't even fully aware of ourselves. Our buttons are our fears. And when our buttons get pushed by someone else, what do we do? Well, usually we react... and a lot of times, our reactions push the other person's button. We say or do something that somehow hits their deep down fears. And then they react... and the cycle continues. I call it the Cycle of Button Pushing. In the episode I give a very specific example from my own life of this crazy cycle. Also, years ago, I read a really great book that describes this process in detail and I actually refer to quite a bit throughout the episode. It's by Dr. Gary Smalley and it's called The DNA of Relationships. In the book, Dr. Smalley describes this cycle of button pushing and he actually refers to it as the Fear Dance. He says in chapter 3, "You would think that the Fear Dance is not a dance anyone would choose to do. You would think that most people would rather do a Love Dance or a Joy Dance, something positive. But unless we understand the Fear Dance and how we can choose not to do it, it seems to be the default dance in most relationships." Now think of some of your relationships in life that sometimes seem stressful. Any relationship. Any relationship that sometimes has conflict, disagreements, resentments, or any other kind of issue. Do you see how you could be participating in a Fear Dance? Do you see how you are involved in, as I say, a Cycle of Button Pushing? Most often than not, we don't even intend to push the other person's fear buttons. We are really just trying to protect our own. So what do you do about it? How can you simplify the messiness that comes with relationships when people push our buttons? Well, whenever you find yourself defaulting into a cycle of button pushing with someone in your life (when they're pushing your buttons and you're pushing theirs) you need to make the decision to push the reset button. In your relationship, in conversations, when things get messy, when the conversation starts to get chaotic and negative or confusing you need to push the reset button. And that's exactly what I teach you how to do in this episode... I give you "The 10 Steps on How to Push the Reset Button". Click here for the free downloadable workbook that I created for you. It has all 10 Steps on How To Push the Reset Button. Be sure to download the workbook so that you can follow along and apply it to your own life, and so you can understand your own buttons that tend to get pushed.  You can also text the phrase RESETBUTTON (with no spaces) to 44222 to get the free download. Welcome to the very first podcast episode of Life Made Simple! My name is CarlaRae Arneson, and I want to give a huge thank you to everyone who has been encouraging me and pushing me to get this podcast up and going and off the ground! It's definitely been a work in progress and I'm so excited that it's finally happening. This particular episode is where you get to hear all about me, what I do, and why I'm now the host of this podcast show, Life Made Simple. I'm originally from Alameda, California down in the San Francisco Bay Area. I now live in beautiful Seattle, Washington with my amazing husband Eric, our little son, Levi, and our new rescued puppy, Bode. You'll definitely hear a lot more about my family and the crazy - but fun - life that we lead in future episodes. I've been a professional home organizer and time management coach for almost 15 years with my Home Management Consulting business in Seattle, called Loose Ends. Throughout the years of helping families cut back on chaos and clear the clutter from their homes, I can definitely say that I have seen it all... nothing surprises me anymore! I've seen some pretty crazy things and I've worked with some very interesting and amazing people. I've seen all extremes and everything in between... Packrats and hoarders who feel like they're drowning and don't know where to begin to make a change. Couples who want to downsize and somehow let go of half their stuff to move into a smaller home. Families who actually have LESS stuff than I do and just need a few organizing ideas to simplify their home. Individuals who have way too many to-dos and need help with time management. While helping so many different people, I learned that everyone has a different story, everyone has a different situation with different struggles, and everyone needs help in different ways. But no matter what the story, I have learned working with all my clients over the years this one definitive truth: If you want to get organized, you have to simplify your life. Do you want to feel less overwhelmed? Well, then you have to simplify your life. Do you want to feel more happy and at peace? You have to simplify your life. Do you want to actually enjoy being in your home? Do you want to feel like you have more time to do what you love and with the people that you love? Then you have to simplify your life. But what does that mean? And where do you start? How do you do that? And that's why I wanted to start this podcast. After 15 years of helping people one on one, face to face, simplify the craziness in their lives, I decided it's finally time to help even more people on a much bigger scale. So, for all my clients, colleagues, and friends, and family members who have been encouraging me to do this, thank you... it's finally happening!   Keep in mind, this podcast show is going to go way beyond just organizing your house... we're going to tackle every aspect of your life... not just your home (although, we will talk a lot about that), but also your relationships, your health, your time, your to-do list, and even your emotional well-being. And ultimately, we will talk about how to let go of everything that might be holding you back in life and how to focus on what your real priorities are. I want this podcast show to help motivate and inspire you to push forward, to develop new habits and disciplines that will help you maintain a simplified life. Because I'm not going to lie to you... it's not always easy. But it's worth it. I'm here to say, you're not alone. I don't just empathize with you, I can relate to you. Together, we can figure out how to simplify our lives, get rid of what doesn't matter, and focus on what does. Together, we can push forward, we can get motivated, and stay inspired. Together, we can find the freedom of simplicity and pursue the life that we're we were meant to live.   Links Mentioned on the Show: Website: CarlaRaeArneson.com Share this Podcast: LifeMadeSimplePodcast.com Free Guide:  "9 Ways to Simplify Your Life"   (CarlaRaeArneson.com/freeguide) Submit Questions: CarlaRaeArneson.com/AskCarlaRae Share this Episode: CarlaRaeArneson.com/episode0 Full Transcript of this Episode: CarlaRaeArneson.com/transcript0

Since episode #0 was an introduction to who I am and what I do, this quick and brief episode is meant to give you an introduction to the Life Made Simple Podcast, what it's all about, and what to expect in future episodes. While simplicity is the Life Made Simple Podcast's theme, the categories that we're going to talk about are going to be all areas of life: Home (de-cluttering all rooms of your house, including paper piles) Time (managing all your to-dos and how to schedule them) Health (diet, exercise, and even weight-loss goals) Relationships (marriage, parenting, friendships) Mind (your mood, attitudes, outlooks, values, negative vs. positive thinking and so on). The goal of this podcast is to explore the idea of finding simplicity in all areas of our life.  During future episodes, we'll be talking about and learning together how to let go of what's holding us back from being who we want to be and focus on only the things that bring us true happiness. You can expect to hear a brand new episode every Monday morning. Those episodes will cover certain topics such as how to un-clutter your house, how to build better will power, what to do about people in your life that bring you stress, the best way to manage your to-do list, how to schedule exercise into your life.  These are just a few examples of topics that we'll be covering. Every once in awhile, the Monday morning episode will be called "CarlaRae Confesses". During those episodes I'll be confessing and talking about certain areas of my own life that I need extra help in... areas of my life that I need to simplify. Every once in awhile we'll be having a special "Ask CarlaRae" episode. During those episodes I'll be answering questions that you, my listeners have for me.
