She came to spend quality time with Lily and her brothers and planned adventurous activities. Lily Liu took full advantage of the world her mother shared with her.  Lily was a sought-after model as a teenager. Later, she gave her own three children the same opportunity when each was born during the years she owned her agency. Soon other mothers approached her to find modeling jobs for their children. Hosts Jonathan Cook and Bryan Jenkins welcome Lily Liu and Jimmy Quintana. Lily is the Co-founder of Pinata, and Jimmy is the account executive.     Episode Highlights:    Pinata is a rent reward platform designed for renters and property management companies in mind.  One of the best features of Pinata is the real-tangible rewards that renters get. In addition to that, Pinata has recently started reporting red payments to credit bearers. Jonathan shares, he always stays a step ahead when it comes to positively speaking about Pinata. Those of you who don’t know Pinata has really grown as a company in the last few years.  Lily talks about Rent Rewards - When a user notifies that rent has been paid on time every month, Pinata gives them a series of rewards. The renters are the end-users of the application. When a new tenant sign-up they also get rewarded. The rewards range from $25 to $30 gift cards.  Renters also get Pinata Cash – an in-app currency that renters can use in the reward center.  Pinata’s product team is always looking to introduce fun and delight in the app, so that it becomes user friendly.  Bryan points out that the concept of Pinata is refreshing. The app is easy to implement and user-friendly. Jonathan and Bryan are currently working on the tenant benefit programs.  Not just tenants, Pinata also has programs to benefit homeowners. Lily lists the top three unique, customizable rewards. Renter lease signing, replacing air-filters, snapping a photo of the property, maintaining the lawn are some of the customizable rewards that Pinata offers to its users.   Initially, Pinata started with the single-family space, but this year Lily’s target is to get to the multi-family space as well. Jonathan talks about the geographical spread of Pinata in the US.  Lily points out that “There is no area in the US that Pinata doesn’t cater to.” Jimmy explains, “The beauty of the system is - it not only rewards the tenants, but it also brands Pinata and rewards the homeowners. “ As a final note, Jonathan shares that he has not come across any other company like Pinata. It is such a stepping-stone about what anybody else is offering. Jonathan and Bryan joke that they are not getting any Pinata cash for promoting the company.  What Pinata offers is unique, and one can earn rewards following some simple steps.      3 Key Points:   Jonathan Cook and Bryan Jenkins talk about the trajectory of Pinata and how positively the company has grown over the years. Lily explains in detail about “Rent Rewards”, as it does not exist anywhere else in the market as a class of service. Lily talks about “How easy it is for tenants to sign-up for Pinata?”       Tweetable Quotes:   “Pinata is focused on creating stickiness not only with the tenants but also with home-owners.” - Jimmy Quintana “Pinata’s app is not only intuitive, but it is also fun for the users” - Lily Liu “Pinta’s app is technology-enabled and cutting-edge; signing-up is really easy.” - Jimmy Quintana “Pinata benefits all parties involved bet it homeowners, tenants or the brand itself.” - Jimmy Quintana       Resources Mentioned:   Pinata Email Jonathan and Bryan at Podcast@AHIProperties.com PPP Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/PPPwithAHI/ PPP Twitter: https://twitter.com/PPPwithAHI Podcast Editing

This is the second episode from our Chinaccelerator 8X8 Global Speakers Series, where we bring 8 influential speakers to share their insights and experiences in 8 minutes. We have some great speakers lined up for this episode. In today's episode, we bring 3 exceptional speakers with their insights.Show Notes:02:25: Mikaal Adbulla08:04: Lily Liu19:57: Vu VanFirst up, we have Mikaal Adbulla, co-founder and  CEO of 8 Securities, Asia's first mobile-only investing service and robo-advisor, that was recently acquired by SoFi. For entrepreneurs, constraints are everywhere: from finding capital to finding the right team. But only if you have experienced those constraints, are you able to learn how to be creative, agile and focused. In today's talk, Mikaal shares how having excess capital could be a constraint for startups. Our second speaker is Lily Liu, an angel investor and also co-founder of fintech startup Earn.com, which was acquired by Coinbase. In her talk, she breaks some of the biggest myths of being a CFO and explains how being a Chief Financial Officer is more about managing risks holistically and their role in a company's long-term sustainability.Last but certainly not least, we have Vu Van, co-founder ELSA Corp, one of the world's best and smartest English pronunciation app, powered by AI. Given what the company does, it is easy to assume that Vu Van is a technical genius. But the interesting fact is, Vu does not come from a technical background. She draws from her own experiences to explain why having a tech background is not a pre-requisite to building a tech company and how not having such a background could be a blessing in disguise instead. Many thanks to our guest Benjamin Qiu; host Oscar Ramos; producers  Eva Shi and  Sagar Chaudhary; editor David; organizer Chinaccelerator; and sponsor People Squared. Interview location: SkypeInterview date: Thursday 7th Feb, 2019Company: Earn.comRole: FounderProtocols, protocols, protocols; so many smart contract protocols, but why? If you look at the history of Ethereum, and the returns generated for investors, you can see why Silicon Valley has been pumping money into decentralising everything.Ethereum grew over 13,000% in 2017, to over $1400, delivering a massive return to any early investor who managed to exit. These types of performances are rare in venture funding but have turned the heads of funds. The problem with decentralising everything is the lack of value creation, and DApps are struggling to find significant users. Investors now hold illiquid tokens in many projects which might fail.In this interview, I talk with Lily Liu, the founder of Earn.com and find out about how Silicon Valley operates and what investors don’t understand about crypto. We also discuss Bitcoin Rationalism, a term coined by Lily and what it means to her.-----If you enjoy The What Bitcoin Did Podcast you can help support the show my doing the following:Become a Patron and get access to shows early or help contributeMake a tip:Bitcoin: 3FiC6w7eb3dkcaNHMAnj39ANTAkv8Ufi2SQR Codes: Bitcoin | Ethereum | Litecoin | Monero | ZCash | RipplecoinIf you do send a tip then please email me so that I can say thank youSubscribe on iTunes | Spotify | Stitcher | SoundCloud | YouTube | TuneIn | RSS FeedLeave a review on iTunesShare the show and episodes with your friends and familySubscribe to the newsletter on my websiteFollow me on Twitter Personal | Twitter Podcast | Instagram | Medium | YouTubeIf you are interested in sponsoring the show, you can read more about that here or please feel free to drop me an email to discuss options.

Erik and his co-host Tony Sheng are joined by two special guests for this episode. Lily Liu (@calilyliu) is co-founder of Earn.com which was sold to Coinbase. Jillian Carlson (@_jillruth) is a consultant to projects both big and small in the space. Co-host Tony Sheng (@tonysheng) leads product at Decentraland. He also publishes analyses on the business and strategy of crypto at tonysheng.com and is one of Village’s Network Leaders.Erik starts by asking what each of Lily and Jillian are thinking about these days and what's been top of mind for the last while for them. Lily's been thinking about how the blockchain can be used internationally and Jillian has been thinking about how to make blockchain and crypto actually useful to end users. They have a discussion of Venezuela and its effort to create a state-sponsored cryptocurrency. They discuss the idea of getting blockchain to scale by adding blockchain tech to existing projects that already have scale instead of creating something entirely new. They have an enlightening discussion about business model innovation compared to protocol innovation. They say that much of the protocol innovation will happen in the US and the business model innovation is likely to happen in Asia. There is discussion of the risks of creating projects on top of Ethereum as well as of the risks of creating your own coin and holding your funds in that coin. They also talk about why the sharing economy is well-positioned to have blockchain integrated into it and Lily explains why she thinks that despite the correction in prices we're still not in a bear market yet. Finally, they discuss personal ICOs and the rise of crypto hedge funds. Thanks for listening — if you like what you hear, please review us on your favorite podcast platform. In July in San Francisco, I moderated a panel at "Distributed 2018: Unlocking the Global Power of Decentralized Business." The title of our discussion was "Innovate or Reinvent?" and the panelists were Amber Baldet, cofounder and CEO of Clovyr, Matt Roszak, cofounder and chairman of Bloq, and Lily Liu, cofounder of Earn.com. We had a wide-ranging discussion, which included topics such as how the "Crypto 50" combined have more budget for blockchain development services than Fortune 50 companies,  how developing in the blockchain space and revolutionize an existing market requires that the new offering be many times better than existing options, and why enterprise needs to wait to get permission rather than ask for forgiveness, which doesn't hinder new projects. We also discussed how government is also a competitor in the space, that building entities don't include only decentralized projects and corporations, and how regulation could affect the development of the space. with Tina Bhatnagar (@tinab), Preethi Kasireddy (@iam_preethi), Lily Liu (@calilyliu), and Kim Milosevich (@kimbatronic) Whether it’s sharing the decision-making behind joining a crypto company to the perspectives of a passionate early adopter (or relative latecomer), this episode of the a16z Podcast -- based on a panel from the “Intro to Crypto” event that Andreessen Horowitz and #Angels put on in April 2018 -- covers what it takes to build companies in crypto, from people to code. You can find other sessions from the event, covering the building blocks of crypto to decentralization to the regulatory landscape, here. Why crypto? What was the biggest surprise in the space? Do the same skills from other domains apply? This discussion, moderated by Kim Milosevich, explores these questions with Coinbase VP of Operations Tina Bhatnagar; CEO and founder of TruStory Preethi Kasireddy; and Lily Liu, co-founder at Earn.com. photo credit: Erin Brethauer The views expressed here are those of the individual AH Capital Management, L.L.C.
