I'm delighted to welcome Petr Kozyakov, CEO and co-founder of Mercuryo, a global payments infrastructure platform, to share his invaluable insights on this transformative journey. Petr Kozyakov is a visionary leader with a deep understanding of the financial market, and his journey in FinTech began in the late 2000s. Throughout his career, he has held top management positions in payment companies, making him uniquely qualified to discuss the intersection of blockchain and finance. Our conversation with Petr delves into the potential of crypto payments as a fast and cost-effective solution, particularly for cross-border transactions. While cryptocurrency adoption is still in its early stages, Petr highlights the need for greater integration between crypto and fiat systems to unlock its full potential. Regulatory changes are also on the horizon, and Petr believes they are ultimately positive for crypto adoption as they legitimize the space and build trust among enterprises and consumers alike. However, he emphasizes the importance of businesses focusing on actual use cases that address genuine pain points rather than adopting crypto for hype. We explore the diverse use cases of crypto payments, from settling group expenses across borders to facilitating remittances with low fees and high speed. Stablecoins, in particular, are transforming the landscape by providing a store of value in countries with unstable currencies. Petr envisions a hybrid future of payments, where challenger banks become "crypto-first," seamlessly integrating crypto and fiat services. This integration will bridge the gap between crypto apps and traditional banking, offering users a holistic financial experience. Despite the immense potential, Petr acknowledges the challenges of implementing blockchain technology in payments. He advises businesses to take the time to understand the technology thoroughly and recommends starting with specific pain points before wholesale adoption. Strategic partnerships can also ease the transition for companies new to the crypto space. Join us for an enlightening conversation that explores the evolving regulatory landscape, the role of established card networks like Visa and Mastercard in crypto, and the exciting possibilities that lie ahead as blockchain innovation transforms the future of finance.
Why is crypto so revolutionary and how does it influence the global financial ecosystem? Find out the answers to these and much more in our latest episode of In Check with Fintech with Petr Kozyakov. This week, our CEO, Rogier Rouppe van der Voort has the pleasure of hosting Petr Kozyakov, Co-Founder and CEO at Mercuryo, a crypto-powered toolbox for payment innovations accessible through single API integration. During their conversation, they explore crypto as a technology that helps reinvent the ways to make payments easy. Petr also discusses the global adoption of crypto, looking at its impact on economies facing currency instability and its potential as a mainstream means of payment. Enjoy listening!
An external auditor is appointed to provide an independent examination of the financial statements to ensure they provide a true and fair view. And in return provide the confidence to stakeholders that management is doing their job well. Auditors proceed by testing the internal controls and performing substantive tests. What substantive tests mean is that auditors have a range of assertions, such as completeness, existence, valuation, cut-off, and occurrence that they use to develop their audit procedures. To help us understand how to get companies having crypto on their balance sheet audit ready, I spoke with Marnus Kruger & Chris O'Reilly, Technical Accounting Manager and Lead Finance Engineer at Harris & Trotter. Harris & Trotter, which provides accounting, audit, and taxation services, has made a name for itself in the digital assets space. Today it serves around 450 companies including the likes of 1inch, Wintermute, The Sandbox, Blockchain.com, Bitfury, P2P and Mercuryo. Petr Kozyakov is the Co-founder and CEO of Mercuryo, a global payments infrastructure platform. Why you should listen Mercuryo began in 2018 as an onramp solution to help users buy crypto easily and at lower costs. Later, they expanded their services to provide banking solutions, payment solutions, and to act as a bridge between traditional financial institutions and crypto companies. They now work with many high profile international fintechs and crypto companies. Petr talks about the challenges faced by crypto companies in accessing fiat infrastructure due to banks' risk aversion towards cryptocurrencies. Petr also mentions that self-custodial wallets are becoming popular among users after incidents like the FTX collapse, leading to increased demand for using crypto in daily life. Petr predicts that by 2024, large crypto players will start providing fiat services, leading to real crypto adoption in the second half of 2024 and beyond. He emphasizes the importance of efficiency, sustainability, and finding real use cases for cryptocurrencies in improving operations. Petr highlights his company's ability to provide all services in one place, easy integration, and a long-term strategy for partners to evolve into crypto fintechs quickly. On Episode 29, I talk with Petr Kozyakov of Mercuryo. Mercuryo is a cryptocurrency infrastructure company helping to provide a range of payment solutions. With crypto being one of the hottest, if not the hottest, topics in all of fintech today, I think it was a really interesting interview to talk about how someone is building a company that's looking to help meld the worlds of crypto and fiat together. We dig into not only what they mean when they describe themselves as a crypto infrastructure company, but we also talk about where crypto is today. The ease at which some transactions in crypto can be done, such as buying Bitcoin or buying altcoins. The complicated nature of other transactions makes the space not very consumer-friendly today. There is work being done to fix that problem partly by companies like Mercuryo. We also talk about regulation as a barrier to innovation in the crypto space and what are some of the things that Mercuryo is doing to ultimately help connect the various worlds together. I think it's a really fascinating interview so without further ado, Petr Kozyakov of Mercuryo. I hope you all enjoy the show. Petr's journey to starting Mercuryo What the crypto moment was for Petr to jump into the space Mercuryo comes from Mercury being the god of trading The real mission for crypto goes beyond the price of Bitcoin The worlds of crypto and fiat need to work together Fiat and crypto will learn to leverage each other over time The crypto user experience needs to be simplified The right infrastructure can help solve it all 3 years in crypto can feel like 10-15 years in fiat Best advice recieved, "Don't be afrais to merge crypto and fiat, trust your ideas" "Don't stop when investors say no" And more...

This is the second episode of this quarter's Pulse of Payments series and I'm talking with Petr Kozyakov, the Co-founder and CEO of Mercuryo. The topic for today's episode is crypto payments – or better said accepting cryptocurrency as a method of payment. Everyday there are articles being written about Bitcoin, Stablecoin and other cryptocurrencies but typically that is related to buying and holding these cryptocurrencies with the hope that the price goes up but what I am most interested in is understand more about cryptocurrency as a method of payment. Mercuryo was built to bridge the gap between fiat and crypto. Petr and I discuss the advantages and disadvantages of accepting crypto currencies. We talk about the consumer demand to pay with crypto currencies as well as the global regulatory environment and much much more.

Many companies were faced with problems to which there were no simple solutions. According to a recent study from Accenture, 81 percent of supply chain leaders believe the pandemic has been their organization's toughest stress test, and they're dealing with technology change at a record pace and scale. Many supply chain operations are still restricted by old legacy technology, requiring a patchwork of digital and non-digital systems to function. Businesses should increase cloud spending to support digital supply chains and foster ecosystem partnerships.
