On this episode of Bats and Balls Podcast, The Producer & Josh go over what has been happening in the NRL, Supercoach, AFL and much more in the past week. The NRL just completed Round 25 with The Storm not only locking up the Minor Premiership but are also currently our Bats and Balls Champions. For the ladder the top 7 is locked into the finals but the battle for 8th sport is alive. Dragons, Broncos, Dolphins, Raiders and Knights can all make it to the final spot left. The Eels let a sixteen-point lead slip when they lost to the Broncos. The Tigers had a win against Manly which sets up a last round Spoon Bowl match AFL and the Sydney Swans finally had the curse lifted by Pies and the Minor Premiership is now theirs. Will Pies add the curse back onto the Swans now that GWS has to play them in week 1 of the finals. The final round of the AFL was crazy and the team goes through all the games that matter. Supercoach we are into Prelim Finals and The Producer lost by 1 point against the Fleshpuppet to go to back-to-back finals. The Producer did make the Mug Final. Good luck to all teams in the Finals EPL has been back for 2 weeks and both Liverpool and Brighton are flying high still undefeated after 2 rounds. Canterbury, Manly and Cowboys solidify their finals spots with a FIVE TEAM log-jam battling it out for 8th with Dragons, Dolphins, Knights, Raiders and Broncos vying for this coveted spot. Tony Kemp - former Warriors coach and ex-Kiwis representative - joins Martin Devlin on It's Only Sport, recapping round 25 of the 2024 NRL season. The weekend was highlighted by the Warriors playing their final home game of the year, meaning it was the last time Shaun Johnson, Jazz Tevaga and Addin Fonua-Blake played in front of home fans in a Warriors jumper. As well as that, the Melbourne Storm secured yet another minor premiership, and the Penrith Panthers' loss to the Canberra Raiders saw them slip down to fourth on the ladder. Kempy and Marty grab their magnifying glasses and dissect every main talking point from the weekend that was.
Melbourne Storm Captain Harry Grant has praised his side for consistently finding ways to win matches, culminating in the Storm claiming the Minor Premiership on Saturday night. "We haven't probably been the best team all year in some ways, but we've consistently won games," Grant said. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Gobbs returns to review the disappointing and unexpected loss to the Dragons, who ambushed the ambush. Gobbs reviews the unusual win over the Eels, coming away victors despite all the stats and metric pointing to what should have been a Blue and Gold win. Miraculously, the Eels attacked in the Storm's redzone 42 times, compared to the Storm only being able to attack in the Eels redzone twice, with all of their tries coming from Storm's own side of halfway. Having to make over 100+ more tackles, Melbourne managed a remarkable 32-14 victory on the road against one of their traditional bogey teams.
