In the second half of the program, Shane reads selections from Justin Martyr's First Apology, which provides insight into the compelling nature of early Christian proclamation. Join us in this compelling episode as we reconnect with Ardie and Kacie Lord, the dynamic duo behind Lord Pastoral in Sutherland, QLD and a prime example of a High Performing Family. This is part 2 of our High Performing Families series, following our previous interview with their son and daughter-in-law, Nikko and Jade Lord. After the flood of questions we received from listeners following our last discussion at Beef24, we're diving deeper into Ardie and Kacie's journey to share some of the standout moments that have shaped their success. Ardie reflects on how he began the succession journey way back in the 90s, when their children were still young, setting the stage for what many consider a model of proactive planning. Kacie, the family's communication guru, opens up about the challenges they've faced in maintaining trust and effective communication, sharing how they navigated rocky times and ultimately strengthened their bond. One of the most common challenges for farming families is balancing fairness between on-farm and off-farm siblings. Ardie and Kacie provide thoughtful advice based on their own experiences, offering practical solutions for maintaining harmony within the family. As they look ahead, Ardie and Kacie also ponder their roles in the family's future, sharing a golden nugget of advice for families striving to preserve both their agribusiness and family unity. They emphasise the importance of self-care for the older generation, a crucial aspect often overlooked in succession planning.Tune in for an inspiring and informative discussion that will leave you motivated and equipped with valuable strategies to help your own family succeed across generations.-----------------------Ben spent over 20 years working with successful business owners and farming families which allowed him to unearth the timeless principles on how to successfully grow, protect and maintain wealth. If you want to learn the principles of how to grow your family's wealth throughout the generations, then you might consider joining The AgriCoach Podcast each fortnight for more Wealth & Wisdom.Disclaimer: The information contained in this podcast is general in nature and for education purposes only. I invited my friend and the extremely talented artist Steve Burrows to come on the show. I first met Steve through my beautiful friend Rose when she fell in love with him and brought him into my life. In 2006 Steve illustrated my children's book "With a Cherry on Top" and then more recently he drew several cool images for "The Next Room." (All by hand by the way) Steve's mother recently passed away and after I attended her funeral mass and celebration of life I heard her voice tell me to reach out to her son to ask him to come on the show. I did. He responded with a one word text...YES. Steve's connection to the afterlife will amaze you. He shares his magnificent stories of deep relation with not only his mom, but his sister Kim who recently transitioned and his pops who passed 29 years ago. His dad gave him the best advice ever after a dream visitation. Steve was distraught and trying to come to terms with running his dad's contracting business after his dad's heart attack. During the visit he asked his dad what to do about all the stress, decision making, and responsibility that came with becoming the man of the family. In his powerful message Steve's dad told him, "None of this matters." He also talks about a mic-drop moment with his mother Ardie in the hospital and her last words to each of her children (and sweet Rose) before she transitioned. The words were, "I love you." This story is about divine energy, dream visitations, messages from beyond, and visitors from nature. My guess is that you will be filled with hope after listening to my conversation with the brilliant Steve Burrows. See Steve Burrows art here https://burritoart.com/ Learn more about your ad choices. I was introduced to Chip Bell as Chipper Bro in Santa Barbara in the early 80's. The place, East Beach. I was a 20 something DJ on KTYD, and he was a 20 something 12 time World Champion Freestyle Frisbee Champion superstar who made a BIG life out of tossing a Frisbee and surfing. Chipper has had a remarkable career, and he's just getting started. We had not really seen each other since the early days on East Beach…flash forward to last week. We meet again at a funeral of all places. Our mutual friend Steve's mother Ardie passed away and here we are at a Catholic mass in Southern California seeing one another for the first time in over 30 years. He looks the same maybe a little bit more gray on his crazy head of beautiful hair, but still the same Chipper Bro, positive uplifting, honest, engaging, and present in the moment. Shout out to beautiful Ardie for reconnecting us. As we sat at the luncheon in the hall after her beautiful service, I knew within two minutes I had to have Chipper Bro on the show. This show will inspire you to continue to pivot, set goals, and embrace life as you feel the life-force energy that is Chipper Bro. As Chipper is fond of saying..."You Gotta Work for Hope." Celebrating Episode 200 In Kansas City With NLBM President, Bob Kendrick, Former MLB Player, Ed Hearn, and BBQ HOF Member, Ardie Davis Episode 200 was not going to pass without us doing something special and so we took the show to Kansas City where baseball and barbecue are part of the city's foundation.  While there we had the pleasure of spending time with three previous guests. Bob Kendrick is president of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, Missouri and was our very first podcast guest almost six years ago.  After his first appearance he joined us two more times and each discussion was even better than the one before.  This was our first time meeting in person and we were overjoyed to meet Bob as we greatly respect his talents as a baseball historian, phenomenal storyteller, and an incredible steward of the game.  We talked about his passion for the museum, the history it preserves, and the stories it tells.  Go to https://www.nlbm.com/ for more information on Bob and the museum. Ed Hearn is a former Major League Baseball player.  He was part of the New York Mets 1986 World Series Championship and played briefly for the Kansas City Royals.  We had Ed on once before and Jeff proudly wore Ed's #49 at New York Mets Fantasy Camp.  Ed was extremely thoughtful to invite us into his home where we had the chance to try on his World Serious ring as well as see his other championship memorabilia.  We met his wife, Trisha and his dog, Hartley.  Ed recently received a new kidney and thankfully is feeling better.  It is very special the way that Jeff calls Ed #49 and Ed calls Jeff #49.   Ardie Davis was a guest once on the show, but meeting him in person was a huge thrill and he met us on a long line at Slap's BBQ.  Ardie is a 2016 Barbecue Hall of Fame inductee in the celebrity/humanitarian category.  Ardie is a founder of the American Royal Barbecue Sauce Contest which is the world's largest sauce contest.  He is a charter member of the KCBS, instrumental in the development of the Certified Barbecue Judge curriculum, and author of the oath recited by each judge prior to judging a contest.  We affectionately refer to him as barbecue royalty and you would be hard pressed to find anyone who would say otherwise.   The show is filled with congratulatory messages and then Jeff and Len reflect on what the podcast and achieving 200 episodes means to them.   We conclude the show with the song, Baseball Always Brings You Home from the musician, Dave Dresser and the poet, Shel Krakofsky. We recommend you go to Baseball BBQ, https://baseballbbq.com for special grilling tools and accessories,  Magnechef https://magnechef.com/ for excellent and unique barbecue gloves, Cutting Edge Firewood High Quality Kiln Dried Firewood - Cutting Edge Firewood in Atlanta for high quality firewood and cooking wood, Mantis BBQ, https://mantisbbq.com/ to purchase their outstanding sauces with a portion of the proceeds being donated to the Kidney Project, and for exceptional sauces, Elda's Kitchen https://eldaskitchen.com/ We truly appreciate our listeners and hope that all of you are staying safe. The day before the first Bledisloe Cup test of 2022, what more could you ask for. A 20-year run that has made this rivalry look more one-sided than that time the Socceroos beat American Samoa 31 - 0 in a football game. But, none of that matters now as the All Blacks are going through a lull and if there was ever a time for the Wallabies to turn the tables this could be it. The Ice Man is back in charge of the gold and green and with no King, Ardie to lead the AB's around (Spiritually of course because Sam Cane is our actual captain ) could this actually be the year??? We run through all of this as well as giving our thoughts on the lineups, the venue (Melbourne... Yuck) and our predicted results. So join us for half an hour of non-stop Rugby!

Episode 120 features part 2 with Barbecue Hall of Famer, Ardie Davis, and BBQ rubs and sauces creator, Denny Mike and a discussion with baseball umpire, Perry Barber.    Ardie Davis aka Remus Powers, Ph.B. is a 2016 Barbecue Hall of Fame inductee in the celebrity/humanitarian category. Ardie has written numerous BBQ books.  He has also been interviewed by the History Channel regarding barbecue, on more than one occasion.  In 2003 he was named a Kansas City Barbecue Legend by the Kansas City Star.  We affectionately referred to him as barbecue royalty and you would be hard pressed to find anyone who would say otherwise.         Dennis Michael Sherman is known by thousands of satisfied customer's as Denny Mike.  Since 2006, Denny, the creator of super-premium, all-natural and gluten-free sauces and seasoning blends has been selling these products with the DennyMike's label proudly displayed.  His products are sold in Whole Foods as well as Hannaford Brothers and fortunately online at https://www.dennymikes.com.  Denny shares his stories of a business which is extremely competitive, but having a great product has helped him prevail.  Denny has forged many wonderful friendships throughout the years and it is due to this that we were fortunate he asked Ardie to join us and we are very grateful for that.          Perry Barber has been a baseball umpire since 1981.  She got her start umpiring Little League games and then, at her mother's urging, attended her first professional umpire school, Harry Wendelstedt's with her twin sister in 1982.  She has attended the school several times, working hard at honing her craft.  We can fill the remaining lines talking about her umpiring career, but we also want to mention that she is a Jeopardy champion.  We can talk about how umpiring has provided her the opportunity to travel around the world,  but then we might miss mentioning her time as a singer/songwriter and that she has opened for Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, and Hall & Oates.   We even played a quick round of baseball themed Jeopardy with her pitted against Jeff.  Perry is a true Renaissance woman and we must have her back again. We recommend you go to Fifth & Cherry, https://fifthandcherry.com for wonderful cutting boards, http://www.baseballbbq.com for grill tools and clothing for barbecue and baseball fans, the Pandemic Baseball Book Club, https://www.pbbclub.com  to find many of the wonderful books we have featured as well as some additional swag, and DennyMike's, https://www.dennymikes.com for some delicious barbecue rubs.We conclude the show with the beautiful song, "Ace and Bobo" from the musician, Dave Dresser and the poet, Shel Krakofsky. We truly appreciate our listeners and hope that all of you are staying safe.If you would like to contact the show, we would love to hear from you.Call the show:  (516) 855-8214Email:  baseballandbbq@gmail.comTwitter:  @baseballandbbqInstagram:  baseballandbarbecueYouTube:  baseball and bbqWebsite:  https//baseballandbbq.weebly.comFacebook:  baseball and bbq

Ardie van Beek, known to the music community as Funkerman, is an internationally recognized DJ, wildly successful producer, and the founder of Can You Feel It Records and Flamingo Recordings. From his first love of American hip-hop, through obsessive searches for classic soul, disco and funk albums, to riding on the first waves of American house, he has always been on a quest to find and create new and exciting music. In 2004, he founded Flamingo Recordings with fellow producers Raf Jansen and Fedde Le Grand. The label released some of the biggest house tracks of the Noughties, including Ida Corr's “Let Me Think About It”, Fedde Le Grand's “Put Your Hands Up For Detroit”, and the Fedde/Funkerman collaboration “3 Minutes To Explain”. Founding one highly influential record label would have been enough for most producers, but it became increasingly clear that Funkerman needed to launch a new label for, as he describes it, the “New House Sound”. In the spring of 2011, Can You Feel It Records was born. Since its inception, the label has picked up both new and existing producers and vocalists. Gramophonedzie, Rene Amesz, Beauriche and DJ Licious are just a few of the many talented members of the Can You Feel It family. The label grew so quickly that in 2013, Funkerman decided to start organizing CYFI events together with his friends. An unstoppable touring DJ, Funkerman has been traveling and performing almost all the time over the past few years. He has played packed-out shows at many impressive locations across the globe, including in America, Canada, Australia, Britain, Ibiza, Russia, Korea, Kazakhstan, Iceland, Scandinavia, and other European music hotspots. ------------------ Tracklist: 1.
