BRAIN AND BRAIN! For a very long time, the third season premiere of The Original Series was considered one of the dumbest episodes of TELEVISION to have ever aired. Part of the reason Bryan wanted to do a Star Trek podcast was to see if time + examining episodes from a somewhat different perspective -- like the series of questions we ask about every episode before arriving at our judgment -- would help us see any differently episodes lodged in cultural memory a certain way. There's certainly a lot that happened behind the scenes to explain how one of the greatest science fiction TV shows in human history produced an episode called "Spock's Brain," and Bryan and Kristen cover all those bases. CONTENT WARNING: The conversation leads to our hosts discussing Gene Roddenberry's sex lives, which necessarily means a slightly more graphic conversation than usual, so be forewarned.
Mr. Spock kommt vom Planeten Vulkan. This episode was written by co-executive producer Henry Alonso Myers & Robin Wasserman, and Rachel Leiterman directed it. They all loved it, but Brian a little less, he thought probably due to a poor viewing experience.

Rebinging Star Trek DS9: Trials and Tribble-ations Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Season 5 episode 6 of Rebinge Deep Space Nine: Trials and Tribble-ations. This is a very famous episode where Sisko and crew accidentally go back in time and end up on an original episode of Star Trek. They mingle with Kirk, Spock and crew and get up close and personal with some tribbles. There's a lot of nostalgia in this episode, but one thing cannot be ignored is Bashir's hair. Whyyyy? Trials and Tribble-ations The crew retrieves a Bajoran migraine trigger (also known as an Orb of time) from Cardassia and they are flung back in time to meet up with Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock. They become background characters in one of the original episodes of the show while they rush to make sure the precious timeline doesn't get altered. We've got A LOT of fan service here with the uniforms, the equipment, the actual characters from TOS and some humor that might have been more appropriate in the 60's. What's this rebinge thing? It's a re-watch of a thing you've already seen but love to watch and talk about. We go deep with every episode, walking you through every scene and analyzing all of the characters and story lines. Please listen to some of our favorite episodes like Duet, The Visitor or Rejoined and check out the previous episode The Assignment. Consider listening to our episode on The Muse a wildly underrated episode of DS9. Next time... Join us next week for S5E7: Let He Who is Without Sin...

Clare and Hannah geek out about Star Trek: The Original Series. We reveal Mr. Spock's side hustle as an auto mechanic, discover that space hippies have had way more of an impact on our lives than we realize, and that anything can become an android if you spin it fast enough.Opening Riff composed and performed by Clare Walker.
"Mr. Spock" war die Rolle seines Lebens. Von Irene Geuer.
The 15th Annual A-Z of Horror Festival continues. We reveal festival entries H-R, in this episode, Part 2. Nicole seems to have a much more enjoyable time, with this portion of the alphabet. We kick the episode off with a house that happens to have a sinister reputation. Yes, in fact, it may actually have been born bad. We then wrestle with feelings of paranoia and xenophobia, as we become very suspicious of Mr. Spock. Where DO his loyalties lie? An infectious disease causes a lock-down, quarantine situation in a Spanish apartment complex and we absolutely do NOT want to look in that attic again. Watch in awe, as Johnny Depp sits in a library and does research, in a effort to authenticate a book that may actually bring Satanic Panic back to the Bible Belt, if, in fact, it had ever been extinguished. And then from there, experience the finest example of French cinema, that you will likely ever set your eyes upon.

Nothing unusual about decades-long film franchises and their characters - from SHERLOCK HOLMES and ZORRO, to SUPERMAN, JAMES BOND and more. What is rare however is to have one actor portray a single character over those decades. And as both performer and character matures and changes physically, emotionally and otherwise, we as the audience also mature and change with them. To be introduced as a child to a Han Solo, Rocky Balboa or Mr. Spock by one's parent, then as a parent to take your children to a new film featuring that performer and character - often on screen with their children!, is an emotionally unique cinematic experience - the kind of which, hey, admit it, in recent films such as THE FORCE AWAKENS and CREED has been responsible for more than a few eye-watering responses. Craig and Jim get personal in this one, diving into and dissecting five beloved cinematic icons (well, four individuals and one couple) - each portrayed by the same actor or actress over 25 - 50 years, relating their initial reactions as children through to their (at times surprising) interpretation / opinions of them today.
