This week, I conclude my three-part series celebrating the best albums of 2024 and reveal my favourite release of 2024. As is now our standing tradition, I am joined by Mike Hill. Mike is a fellow Horseman of the Podcasting Apocalypse, a member of Tombs, Scorpio Throne and Begotten Sun and the host of the Everything Went Black and Necromaniacs podcasts. PLUS, in my weekly news rant: Rivers of Nihil turn in another slab of hot garbage, while posers across the globe bleat: “AOTY 2025!” in unison. Soulcrusher Festival's recent cancellation of Akhlys highlights the need for bands to protect themselves contractually from the predations of our self-appointed moral superiors. And I share my first impressions of new tracks by Benediction, Grab, Cryptosis and others. My friend and artist Seldon Hunt joins us this week. If you are a listener of Necromaniacs, you will know him as one of the co-hosts of Mayhem Down Under, our exploration of grim Australian films. This week, we talk about the legendary AC/DC, another iconic Australian export to the world. Our analysis is mostly dedicated to the late great Bon Scott, and that transitional period around 1980. Intro: “All the Dark Things” – Mike Hill Outro: “Problem Child” – AC/DC

As longtime listeners know, we are quite fond of hardass, Australian movies. There is a unique quality to these bleak, nihilistic movies that really connect to a primal part of your brain and inspire an almost visceral reaction. Necromaniacs joined up with artist and outback movie aficionado Seldon Hunt to give you Mayhem Down Under, our exploration of these grim, violent films. First up, is the classic SNOWTOWN MURDERS, the 2011 hard-as-nails film directed by Justin Kurzel based on the true events that took place in Adelaide, South Australia between 1992 and 1999. Proceed is you dare, this film is not for the faint of heart. Intro: “We Can't be Beaten” – Rose Tattoo Outro: “My Hate is Strong” – Werewolves
Paul Aloisio of Restless Spirit returns to us this week. The band has been tearing up the road these past few months so I wanted to get caught up. We also talk about our mutual love of horror movies and discuss the recent sensation Longlegs, which will be a subject of a future all-hands episode of Necromaniacs. Intro: “All the dark Things” – Mike Hill Outro: “Crooked Timber of Humanity” – Restless Spirit
This week Jamie Bailey of Brodequin joins me for a track-by-track deep-dive into the band's utterly savage new album, “Harbinger of Woe”. We discuss the medieval history that inspires Brodequin's lyrics, Jamie's views on the death metal scene today, what kept the band out of action for nearly two decades and much more. Then, Mike Scondotto - hardcore legend, Necromaniacs co-host and a fellow Horseman of the Podcasting Apocalypse - hops on Zoom to help me set the world to rights on my weekly news rant. We give our takes on on new music by Akhlys, Defiled, Groza, Tribulation and test our resolve by attempting to endure sixty seconds of an Escuela Grind song. The age old debate over whether or not David Lynch makes horror movies rages on. Here a Necromaniacs we firmly say “Sometimes.” This week, the late 90's classic Lost Highway is our focus, featuring awesome performances by Bill Pullman, Patricia Arquette, Robert Blake and Balthazar Getty, this is debatably one of Lynch's most linear films. Intro: “Necromaniacs” – Mike Hill Outro: “I'm Deranged” – David Bowie
My friend Jason Peppiatt makes his long overdue return to Into The Necrosphere this week. I get the latest on all of his musical endeavours, including Psycroptic, Domination Campaign and Permafog. We also discuss his approach to writing lyrics, his thoughts on AI in the metal scene, dealing with growing older and much more in an epic 2-hour long conversation. Then, I'm joined by my fellow Horsemen of the Podcasting Apocalypse, Necromaniacs' own Mike Scodotto to round up the latest singles by Blaze of Perdition, Six Feet Under, Ulcerate, My Dying Bride and Pestilence on my weekly news rant.PLUS - the Into The Necrosphere Unsigned Band Spotlight casts its eye towards Norway this week, as I bring you a track by rising black metal merchants, Flukt. ▶️SUPPORT THE BANDS FEATURED ON THIS EPISODEPsycroptichttps://psycroptic.bandcamp.com/ Permafoghttps://permafog.bandcamp.com/ Domination Campaign https://dominationcampaign.bandcamp.com/ Flukthttps://flukt.bandcamp.com/▶️SUBSCRIBE TO THE PODCAST https://youtube.com/c/IntoTheNecrosphere ▶️STREAM & DOWNLOADAmazon Musichttps://amzn.to/3epNJ4KSpotifyhttps://spoti.fi/3iKqbIPApple Podcastshttps://apple.co/38wDYhi ▶️SOCIAL MEDIAFacebookhttps://www.facebook.com/intothenecrosphere Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/intothenecrosphere Twitterhttps://twitter.com/inecrosphere ▶️INTO THE NECROSPHERE MERCHhttps://into-the-necrosphere.creator-spring.com▶️THE HORSEMEN OF THE PODCASTING APOCALYPSE Horrorwolf666https://thehorrorwolf666podcast.buzzsprout.com/ Everything Went Blackhttps://everythingwentblack.podbean.com/ Necromaniacshttps://necromaniacs.podbean.com/ Sol Noxhttps://www.solnoxpodcast.podbean.com/ Iblis Manifestationshttps://linktr.ee/iblismanifestationspodcast
Mike and Mike go back to 1993 to talk about Trauma by Dario Argento. Though the Giallo heyday was long past, by the 90's, Argento was able to conjure up a black-gloved, stylish thriller. Check out what the Necromaniacs have to say about it. Give us a shout on the Necrophone at 908-913-0782 Intro: “Necromaniacs” – Mike Hill Outro: “Double Dare” - Bauhaus
At long last we get another movie from Demian Rugna. Everyone is talking about WHEN EVIL LURKS. Does is live up to his excellent film TERRIFIED from 2017? Find out what the Necromaniacs have to say about it! Intro: “Necromaniacs” – Mike Hill Outro: “To Walk the Night” - Samhain
This week we have our eye on the relatively obscure Dracula AD 1972. It's kind of a sleeper in the Hammer Horror catalog so in true Necromaniacs fashion, we decided to review this 1972 vampire oddity. Intro: “Necromaniacs” – Mike Hill Outro: “You Better Come Through for Me” - Stoneground
INFLUENCER, the 2023 SHUDDER Exclusive seemed to be on the tip of everyone's tongues this year.. It took us a while, but Mike and Jeff finally caught up to it. Check out our analysis, you might be surprised what we think. Intro: “Necromaniacs” – Mike Hill Outro: “Truck Love” – Die Haute
Jeff and Mike H submerge themselves in the fishy world of Dagon, directed by the late Stuart Gordon and written by Dennis Paoli. Gordon was known for his interpretations of Lovecraft's source material. Dagon is loosely based on the novella, The Shadow over Innsmouth, one of HPL's most well-known pieces. Intro: “Necromaniacs” – Mike Hill Outro: “Alarma” - Breach
This week we turn to one of our Necrophone recommendations. Mike H and Mike S go dig into 1981's Ghost Story, a classic featuring and all star cast based on the eponymous novel by Peter Straub. Intro: “Necromaniacs” – Mike Hill Outro: “Fall from Grace” – Morbid Angel
This week I'm joined by the hosts of Necromaniacs - two of my fellow horsemen of the podcasting apocalypse - Sensei Mike Hill (Tombs, Scorpion Throne) and Sheriff Mike Scondotto (Inhuman, Confusion, Last Stand), as we count down our favourite death metal albums of the ‘90s. Mike is here to talk about the Confusion discography. Intro: “All of the Dark Things” – Mike Hill Outro: “Storm the Walls” - Confusion

Happy New Year! Necromaniacs is back and ready to kick off the 2023 season on a high note. Jeff and Mike H tackle the new Benson and Moorhead movie “Something in the Dirt”. These V/H/S movies seem to be coming out with more and more frequency these days. The latest, V/H/S 99 just went up as a Shudder Exclusive, hot on the heels of V/H/S 94. Jeff and Mike H are old enough to have a legit take on the 90's so check out their views on this ongoing found-footage anthology that has brought us some genre heavy hitters like Adam Wingard, Ty West, Timo Tjahjanto and several others. Intro: “Necromaniacs” – Mike Hill Outro: “Honey Bucket” - Melvins
We hope everyone had a great Halloween! Time marches on; Jeff and Mike H break down the latest attempt at breathing life into the Hellraiser franchise. Opinions have been all over the map, so tune in for our thoughts on yet another entry into the saga of the Hell Priest and the Cenobites. Intro: “Necromaniacs” – Mike Hill Outro: “Ostia” - Coil
Due to some unexpected circumstances, we will not have a new episode this week. Instead, I'm digging up an episode from the murky past. Episode 10 posted on October 27, 2011; it was a “Halloween Episode” featuring Mike Scondotto who, if you have been listening to Necromaniacs, should be a household name. Mike is also the frontman of Inhuman and The Last Stand, two excellent NYHC bands. We'll be back next week with a new episode, so enjoy and hopefully you guys get a kick out of this oldie.
Names are taken and asses are kicked when no less than THREE of the Horsemen Of The Podcast Apocalypse come together to count down our favourite 90s black metal records. John Adam and Toby Poser of the Adams Family / Wonder Wheel Production join us this week. If are a Necromaniacs listener, you will undoubtedly be familiar with them. I'm had them, along with Zelda their daughter, on a guests and we've covered two of their excellent films, this year's folk horror Hellbender and The Deeper You Dig from 2019. We shifted the conversation a bit this time around to talk about music; during my previous chats with them, I discovered that we have a lot of the same interests when it comes to music, so I thought it would be fun to cover that here on EWB. Check out the this killer playlists on Spotify embedded in the show notes at everythingwentblackmedia.com. Intro: “All of the Dark Things” – Mike Hill Outro: “My War” – Black Flag.
On this episode Mike and Mike talk about the most talked about horror movie of the year. Of course, we're referring to The Sadness, the debut feature length film by Rob Jabbaz. Intro: “Necromaniacs” – Mike Hill Outro: “Girl Afraid” – The Smiths
This week, Mike and Jeff dive deep into Possession, the 1981 horror / thriller / drama written and directed by Andrej Zulawski. To date, his has been a nearly impossible film to see in all of its uncut glory, so you might have to scour the net and the shadowy corners of the horror cons to locate a copy. Intense, brutal and at times hard to watch, this is truly a boundary-pushing film that stars a young Sam Neill alongside the incredible Isabelle Adjani who delivers a sublime performance in duel roles. Intro: “Necromaniacs” – Mike Hill Outro: “Possession” - Danzig
On This episode, my brother Mike Hill (Tombs, Everything went Black, Necromaniacs) and I talk about Lovecraftian Horror. This week, we dive into one of the most controversial, blasphemous movies I film history! Our course we are talking about “The Devils”, the 1971 film written and directed by Ken Russell inspired by The Devils of Loudun by Aldous Huxley the play by John Whiting. Intro: “Necromaniacs” – Mike Hil Outro: “When the Sun Goes Down, It Goes Down Forever” - Murderbait
Jeff and Mike talk about the lean, mean Bloody Hell from 2020. Directed by Alister Grierson and written by Robert Benjamin this Australian darkly-humored horror film seemed to slip by a lot of people. Necromaniacs says…Check it out! Intro: “Necromaniacs” – Mike Hill Outro: “Schwarzenegger Tears” – Lebanon Hanover
Jeff returns to us after his long journey to Texas. Ironically this week's movie takes place in Texas. Of course, we're talking about Ti West's X. Intro: “Necromaniacs” – composed and recorded by Mike Hil Outro: “Hall of Ice” – Lebanon Hanover
Mike and Mike visit the 70's this week. If you've been listening to Necro for a while, you know how fond we are of this golden age of genre films. We dive into Daughters of Darkness, the 1971 sexy vampire classic directed by Harry Kumel. Intro: “Necromaniacs” – composed and recorded by Mike Hill Outro: “Mean Streets” - Starkweather
Jeff and Mike talk about a movie everyone is talking about. Of course we're referring to the Hulu-exclusive FRESH, the directorial debut film of Mimi Cave co-starring Sebastian Stan and Daisy Edgar Jones. Heads-up: we go into spoilers so if you haven't seen the film yet, I urge you to view it before listening to this week's episode. Intro: “Necromaniacs” – Composed and recorded by Mike Hill Outro: “Girl” - Suicide
Mike H and Mike S continue their exploration of the French Extremity this week with Livid by Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo. Long time listeners will recognize those names from our coverage of their film Inside, one of the most buck-wild films to come out of that scene. Intro: “Necromaniacs” – composed / recorded by Mike Hill Outro: “Walachian Tyrant” by Vlad Tepes
The Batman was created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger back in 1939 for DC Comics and along with Superman and Wonder Woman, has become an American comics icon. Over the years, we had a plethora of actors portray the caped crusader first on TV by Adam West and then on the big screen by the likes of Michael Keaton, Christian Bale, Ben Affleck and not by Robert Pattinson. Mike and Jeff present their thoughts on the latest edition to the Batman canon. Intro: “Necromaniacs” – composed / recorded by Mike Hill Outro: “Release the Bats” – The Birthday Party
This week Mike H and Mike S talk about the seminal classic Trouble Every Day by Claire Denis. Back in the late 90's and early years of the 21st century, there was a wave of intense, violent French films dubbed “The New French Extremity”. Trouble Every Day hit our shores as part of this wave along with the work of Gaspar Noe, Julien Maury, Alexandre Bustillo, Coralie Thi and a host of others. Though, “Trouble” is extreme, it also smolders in an heavy, emotional atmosphere that sets it apart from some of the other more over-the-top films. Intro: “Necromaniacs” – composed/recorded by Mike Hill Outro: “Another Night In” - Tindersticks
Hellbender, the latest film by friends of the show, Adams Family is out, streaming exclusively on Shudder. Jeff and Mike H. give their impressions on this unique take on the “Folk Horror” genre. Intro: “Necromaniacs” – composed and recorded by Mike Hill Outro: “Die the Death” – Devil's Blood
Mike S. and Mike H. go back to the wild 70's to cover the seminal horror ALICE, SWEET ALICE by the late Alfred Sole. Shot entirely in New Jersey, this movie is significant in a few ways. It's the film debut of Brooke Shields, it's writer-director Alfred Sole's first non-porn film and is widely considered to be arguably the first American giallo. Intro: “Necromaniacs” – composed and recorded by Mike Hill Outro: “Spiritual Cramp” – Christian Death
Behold! We have a special episode this week to celebrate the release of HELLBENDER on Shudder. Please welcome Zelda, Toby and John, the Adams Family (Wonder Wheel Productions), the Black Flag of filmmakers who wrote produced and acted in HELLBENDER.
