Então conheça hoje mesmo essa belíssima iniciativa:homoacademicus.org*REFERÊNCIASDormir de lado ativa sistema glinfático e é melhor para o cérebrohttps://search.app/qpGVbN6cmZTwP4sr8Coupled electrophysiological, hemodynamic, and cerebrospinal fluid oscillations in human sleephttps://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.aax5440The Effect of Body Posture on Brain Glymphatic Transporthttps://www.jneurosci.org/content/35/31/11034Sleep positions and nocturnal body movements based on free-living accelerometer recordings: association with demographics, lifestyle, and insomnia symptomshttps://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29138608/The Glymphatic System: A Novel Component of Fundamental Neurobiologyhttps://www.jneurosci.org/content/41/37/7698.abstractA Novel Sleep Positioning Device Reduces Gastroesophageal Reflux: A Randomized Controlled Trialhttps://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26053170/Infant sleeping position and the sudden infant death syndrome: systematic review of observational studies and historical review of recommendations from 1940 to 2002https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/15843394/Influence of the right- versus left-sided sleeping position on the apnea-hypopnea index in patients with sleep apneahttps://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/21678115/High Negative Predictive Value of Normal Body Mass Index for Obstructive Sleep Apnea in the Lateral Sleeping Positionhttps://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29852898/Sleep positions and personality: Zuckerman-Kuhlman's big five, creativity, creativity styles, and hypnotizabilityhttps://www.researchgate.net/publication/287884030_Sleep_positions_and_personality_Zuckerman-Kuhlman's_big_five_creativity_creativity_styles_and_hypnotizabilityUpper airway obstruction during sleep in infants with laryngomalacia is frequently sleep-position-dependenthttps://www.nature.com/articles/s41390-025-03919-zFactors Related to the Sleep Duration of 3-Month-Old Infantshttps://www.thieme-connect.com/products/ejournals/html/10.1055/s-0044-1782168Sleep positions : the night language of the bodyhttps://archive.org/details/sleeppositionsni00dunk/page/n5/mode/2upThe contribution of prone sleeping position to the racial disparity in sudden infant death syndrome: the Chicago Infant Mortality Studyhttps://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/12359794/Naruhodo #129 - Sono polifásico funciona segundo a ciência?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6AfuI46VhQNaruhodo #188 - Contar carneirinhos faz a gente dormir mais rápido?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Txu8-QTZB7INaruhodo #191 - É possível aprender idiomas dormindo?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nz1FoXN8XqANaruhodo #256 - Por que roncamos?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfJH_F2GsI4Naruhodo #153 - Sonambulismo tem cura?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghcxHlIK5RINaruhodo #156 - O que é paralisia do sono?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9om8soj_uANaruhodo #138 - O que é bruxismo do sono?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFVyaXRNs0QNaruhodo #123 - O que é e como funciona o sonho lúcido?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThUlmkFFr1UNaruhodo #83 - O que são sonhos?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKvDGxCg7XENaruhodo #297 - Balançar de um lado para o outro ajuda a dormir melhor?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvuqqtayK60Naruhodo #318 - Por que algumas pessoas acordam de mau humor?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKvR_lr5ZIw*APOIE O NARUHODO!O Altay e eu temos duas mensagens pra você.

We speak with Nick August-Perna about his documentary 'Tell Them You Love Me' (2023). The film explores the complex and controversial case of Anna Stubblefield, a former Rutgers ethics professor who was convicted in 2015 for the sexual assault of Derrick Johnson, a nonverbal Black man with cerebral palsy. Stubblefield, a white woman, met Johnson while working to improve his communication skills using Facilitated Communication, a controversial and often disputed method in which a facilitator helps guide a person with disabilities in typing or pointing to letters. Stubblefield claimed that, through this process, she and Johnson developed a deep emotional bond, which led to a consensual sexual relationship. However, Johnson's mother, Daisy, his brother, John, and ultimately the court argued that Derrick lacked the cognitive ability to consent, accusing Stubblefield of manipulating both his communication and his capacity for intimacy. Nick is an award-winning director, producer, and editor, known for co-directing 'The Oxy Kingpins' (2021) and 'The Swell Season' (2011), among other works.Actual Facts is hosted by Eric SteuerSend us a note: actualfactspod@gmail.comTheme music by Yalls: https://www.dancasey.me/Nick August-Perna: https://www.nickaugustperna.com/MovieMaker Magazine: https://www.moviemaker.com/

As if election season wasn't scary enough, now we have rogue planets to worry about! Out in the vast darkness between star systems, these worlds wander through the interstellar void, sometimes in pairs, and when they encounter a solar system, havoc can result. Add to the fact that they are hard to see, and you have a recipe for worry. Fortunately, we have astrophysicists like Dr. Rosalba Perna on the job, learning more about these strange, errant planets daily! Add to that the ever-increasing stash of data we're getting from the James Webb Space Telescope, and we can all sleep a bit better at night. Join us for a fascinating hour with Dr. Perna as we learn about rogue planets! Headlines: Boeing's Starliner spacecraft set to return to Earth robotically, without its crew, on September 6th, marking the end of its three-month mission. Nick August-Perna complex documentary feature TELL THEM YOU LOVE ME explores the story of Anna Stubblefield, an esteemed Rutgers University professor who becomes embroiled in a controversial affair with Derrick Johnson, a Black man with cerebral palsy, and who has been non-communicative since his earliest days. Using a highly disputed technique Anna says she unlocked Derrick's mind from his body by teaching him to communicate using a keyboard. In addition to Anna Stubblefield, we hear from Derrick's brother John Johnson, their mother Daisy Johnson and a variety of academics and doctors who lend their perspective on the relationship and what follows from it. The relationship eventually leads to Anna's arrest and a high profile criminal trial that would challenge our perceptions of disability and the nature of consent. Through exclusive footage and interviews with those on both sides of the case, the film weaves a riveting and endlessly nuanced story about communications, race and sex. Director and co-writer Nick August-Perna (The Oxy-Kingpins) joins us for a conversation on going about gaining the cooperation and trust from the participants, including Anna Stubblefield and her mother, finding a balanced approach to telling the story and his joy at seeing how TELL THEM YOU LOVE ME seems to resonate with audiences at film festivals, 2023 Hamptons International Film Festival, and the 2023 Montclair Film Festival where it won the jury awards for Best Documentary Feature and now as the most popular documentary on NETFLIX. Planets orbit stars, and moons orbit planets, so what orbits a supermassive black hole? Possibly a whole lot of stuff, including a gaseous disk, thousands of stars and more "normal size" black holes! Dr. Rosalba Perna tells us about all the crazy things that could be orbiting around the supermassive black holes that we detect at the center of active galaxies.
Alex is joined by Dr. Nicholas Perna to talk about nasality. They discuss and unravel the mysteries of the nose's role in vocal production, from debunking myths about nasal resonance to exploring the benefits of nasal airflow, Dr. Perna's insights will challenge your assumptions and expand your understanding of vocal technique. Whether you're a singing teacher or a curious vocalist, this episode offers a fresh perspective on an often misunderstood aspect of voice production. KEY TAKEAWAYS Nasality in singing is often misperceived; what we think sounds nasal is usually twang or high spectral energy, not actual nasal airflow. The soft palate's movement in singing is more of a backward motion rather than an upward lift, contrary to common teaching cues. A mild amount of velopharyngeal opening can positively impact resonance stability, especially in the passaggio range for tenors. The term "nasal resonance" may be misleading, as the nose neither amplifies nor enriches sound in singing. Contemporary singing styles often rely on audio processing and EQ adjustments, which significantly affect the final sound beyond the singer's raw vocal output. Good scientific research seeks to disprove itself, challenging researchers to remain curious and open to new findings. Singers and teachers should focus on the journey of learning rather than believing they've reached a definitive destination in understanding vocal technique. Exploring velopharyngeal opening in musical theatre singers, particularly in mix and belt techniques, is an area ripe for future research. BEST MOMENTS "What nasality is does not often coincide to its perceptual characteristics. And equally, studies have demonstrated that there isn't really this general consensus amongst singing teachers about perceived nasality." "Good science seeks to disprove itself. Staying curious means that you have an awareness that you are probably wrong." "The likelihood that that sound includes nasal airflow and that the soft palate is relaxed is very low because what the nasal passage does it has very thick mucous membranes. It's moist. There's other structures up there, typically hair, et cetera. And those things, dull sound, particularly high spectral energy." "I propose that we eliminate the term nasal resonance, nasal resonance altogether, because the nose neither, if we think of resonance as a definition of amplification and enrichment, it is neither amplifying sound, nor is it enriching sound." "The easiest observation you can obviously make, just to know whether there's anything happening or not, is to simply sustain a tone, pinch your nose shut, and see if any, you notice any difference.” EPISODE RESOURCES Voice Study Centre (Podcast) Singing Teachers Talk: Ep.151 How to Sing with Twang with Kerrie Obert (Podcast) Singing Teachers Talk: Ep. Stress comes in many forms, some of which we can control and others we can't, like political unrest or environmental toxins. But regardless of the source, stress affects us all differently, influenced by our circumstances and resilience levels. While we can't always eliminate stressors from our lives, we can manage our response to stress through healthy lifestyle choices. Today, we're focusing on how to use food and exercise to increase resilience and reduce stress, even when external stressors remain unchanged.Interested in working with Jeannie? Que mentira tem perna curta a gente sabe, mas nunca tinha visto tão curta assim. Demorou menos de um dia para a Tati descobrir que um colega de trabalho estava roubando a empresa e a culpa ia recair sobre ela. A Tati estava prestes a ser demitida ou até acusada de roubo se não desvendasse o crime. Rolou até uma acareação entre o 'suspeito' e os funcionários da firma. Quase vira barraco...
In this episode, John talks with tenor, pedagogue and researcher Nicholas Perna about the topic of voice issues and the stigma surrounding them in the singing community. They discuss the concept of technique shaming, how singers often blame themselves for vocal struggles, and highlight the complexity of singing and the various factors that can affect the voice, emphasizing the need for understanding and support. Episode highlights: Voice issues are common among singers and can be caused by various factors unrelated to technique. Blaming singers for their vocal struggles is unfair and unhelpful. The singing community should provide support and understanding to those experiencing voice issues. Singers should seek help from professionals, such as otolaryngologists and speech language pathologists, and not hesitate to share their struggles with trusted individuals.
