We've all heard of it, and some of us have seen the Netflix comedy series, but what exactly is the U.S. Space Force, and what do they do? We invited USSF Chief Master Sergeant John Bentivegna to the podcast to discuss the founding of Space Force, what they are charged with overseeing, their role in continuously monitoring U.S. orbital assets and possible threats to them, and their future role in guarding the space lanes. We also look at the controversy surrounding the recent Blue Origin flight with Katy Perry and other women of note, a recent explosion at a Northrop Grumman facility, and the announcement of a possible detection of life on exoplanet k2-18b! Headlines: Possible Life on Exoplanet K2-18b: Scientists have detected potential signs of life in the spectra of exoplanet K2-18b, including dimethyl sulfide, a substance produced by algae and microbes on Earth. Blue Origin's Glam Flight Controversy: The recent Blue Origin NS-31 flight, intended to promote women in STEM, sparked debate about space tourism and what defines an astronaut. Northrop Grumman Explosion: A recent explosion at Northrop Grumman's Promontory, Utah, test site destroyed a building, raising questions about the future of solid rocket motor development. Interview with Chief Master Sergeant John Bentivegna: His role in the Space Force: Chief Master Sergeant Bentivegna discusses his role as the senior enlisted member, advising on guardian development, strategy, and welfare. Career Path: Bentivegna recounts his journey from joining the Air Force in 1994 to becoming a key leader in the Space Force, highlighting his experience in space operations. Space Force Mission: He details the Space Force's core functions: assured space access, global space operations (including GPS management and space domain awareness), and space control to ensure space superiority. Space Warfighting Framework: The launch of the Space Warfighting Framework, just released this week, is discussed, emphasizing its importance for integrating and planning space operations across the joint force and clarifying the Space Force's capabilities and operational lexicon. Concerns About Threats in Space: The podcast addresses the threats posed by adversarial actions in space, such as the deployment of ASAT weapons and potential EMP attacks, and the measures the Space Force is developing to protect and defend critical space assets. Space Force and NASA Collaboration: The ongoing collaboration between the Space Force and NASA is highlighted, including the role of guardians in space exploration, research, and astronaut support. Future of Space Operations: The episode concludes with a look at the future of space operations, including the potential for a "Space Coast Guard" and the expanding role of the Space Force in lunar and cislunar activities. James 3:13-17 Envy is the relentless desire, not simply to have more, but to deprive others. While greed seeks the objects, envy wants what others have. In this way, envy is far more destructive both to ourselves and to those around us. The gospel calls us to be thankful in all that we have, so that we might show the charity of Jesus to those around us.
Philippians 3:18-21 A large part of our lives is spent on food but if we let it, food can become an idol we worship. God gave us food as a gift, but when our focus leaves the giver we have a problem. Our physical hunger should point us to the true spiritual hunger in Jesus that brings eternal satisfaction.
Colossians 3:8-13 What do we love enough to be angry about? Anger is an emotional response to something we love being threatened. In our sin, the things we love are often focused on ourselves and we can be swept away in the emotion. But the forgiveness of Jesus changes what we love most and in His grace we can be patient trusting that God is in control.
1 Corinthians 6:18-20 Sexual sin is a challenge practically every Christian believer wrestles with at one time or another. What does God's Word have to say about this...and what kind of help will that give when we're in the middle of a moral battle?
Hebrews 13:5-6 Greed is the sin that promises us that if we have enough stuff, we will be happy. However like all other sin, greed keeps us in chains bound under a desire that cannot be met. Ultimately our true contentment is found in Christ which releases us to be generous to others.
James 4:6-7 The sin of pride is often identified as the beginning of all other sins. Lifting ourselves over against others, even against God is the source of all kinds of sins. But God’s grace works in our lives to humble us, following the example of Jesus, and finding our exaltation in God.
Ephesians 3:14-21 Paul prays for the church to know God’s love. He recognizes that we need God’s power to live in Christ, we need his strength to understand what Jesus has done for us, and to live out the fullness of what he has done. All of this is for God’s glory.
Ephesians 3:1-13 Sometimes we think that some people are beyond the reach of the Gospel and it's hopeless to talk with them about Christ. Today we learn that this is not true...and that we each have the privilege to share our faith with others and see the Holy Spirit work in their lives!
Ephesians 2:11-22 We have all felt like an outsider at some point in our lives. Through the saving work of Jesus, we are all brought into the family of God. We can be unified on the foundation of Christ and his word in scripture.
Ephesians 2:1-10 What does God’s love look like? As Paul is praying for the church he begins to show them the incredible depths of God’s love for us. For when we were dead in our sin, he loved us so greatly that he sent Jesus to forgive our sins that we might be saved. We are his workmanship prepared for good works to display his glory.
Ephesians 1:15-23 What do you pray for? Paul as he is praying for the church in Ephesus prays that God would open their hearts to see their hope in Jesus, the riches of their inheritance and the greatness of his power. We are called to pray in the same way that we might live for His glory.
Ephesians 1:11-14 In our section today we see the Apostle Paul continue in his celebration of God's blessings in the life of a believer. That our lives are "in Christ"...that we have a great inheritance...that the Holy Spirit is our "guarantee" of what God has promised us - these are indeed realities which we can rejoice over!
Ephesians 1:3-10 As Paul begins his letter to the Ephesians he starts out with praise and worship for God. Paul takes a look at the whole scope of creation in the past, present, and future and shows how God is to be worshiped in all of these. The work of each member of the Trinity calls us to worship Him.

DJ DEE MONEY AFROFUSION LIVE 1/4/2025 - VARIOUS GENRES
Ephesians 1:1-2 The book of Ephesians is an incredible book of worship in the Christian life. Paul shows us the glory of God in our salvation and as we are called to live it out, we are invited into greater worship of God. As we look at the introduction of this book we see the themes that run throughout the book contained in the brief greeting for the church.
Romans 12:1-2 True transformation comes by gaining a new understanding of God, ourselves, and the world. What we are after ultimately is to be conformed to the image of Christ. We are to be like Jesus, though not in the sense that we can ever gain deity. We are not god-men. But our humanity is to mirror and reflect the perfect humanity of Jesus. A tall order!
Luke 1:26-38. The Miracle of Christmas and the Invitation of Faith
1 Samuel 1:1-20 We serve a God Who hears our cries and cares about us...so how should that affect our lives and how we react to Him during times of struggle and disappointment?
Samson 13 When God’s people are trapped in the cycle of their sin, God provides a saviour. In the birth of Samson we see a pattern that is repeated throughout the Bible that leads us to the ultimate salvation in Jesus. Samson was a flawed saviour, but in Jesus we have a perfect saviour who leads us to trust and worship Him.
Exodus 2:1-10 Sometimes we pray and it feels like our prayers bounce off the ceiling. Does God really hear our cries for help...and does He care? 3,400 years ago the birth of a baby in Egypt answers that question, and 1,400 years after that birth the cry of a baby lying in a manger reaffirms it!
Genesis 21:1-7 As we enter into the Christmas season we are reminded that God has been preparing his people for the miraculous birth of Jesus through many miraculous births. Abraham and Sarah had no hope of a child, and yet God is faithful to his promises and gives them a child. This miraculous provision points forward to the coming of Jesus and the joy we have in Him
Haggai 2:10-23 The story of the book of Haggai is one of resurrection; God brings life to a people who were ‘dead’ in exile. As we see the conclusion to the book, we see that this rescue of God’s people was a work of grace. They had not earned it, yet God was faithful to his promises and gives them hope for the future.
Haggai 2:19 The people in Haggai’s day were discouraged. They had seen the previous splendor of the Temple and knew that nothing they were building would compare. It is easy to feel like our best days are behind us, but the gospel reminds us that the future God has in store for us is always greater.
Haggai 1:12-15 Obey the Lord, Fear the Lord and be stirred up in the Spirit.
Haggai 1:1-11 The prophet Haggai is one of the most exceptional prophets in the Old Testament not simply because of his message but because the people listen to him! Haggai calls the people to consider their and what place God has in their life. As Christians we are called to the same introspection and to heed the call to build God’s Kingdom.
John 6:66-71 It's easy to say "I believe"...but what does that really mean? This message helps us explore Christ's expectations of His followers as He challenges His first century crowd.
Acts 15:1 - 35 Watch Out for the "Add-Ons"!
Mark 12:28-31 For many people the idea of accepting Christianity means you must reject rational thought and turn off your brain. Unfortunately, some in the church have perpetuated this idea by leaning on emotionalism. Yet the Bible calls us to think carefully, to understand God’s world around us, and to love the Lord our God with all our minds.
John 18:33-38 How should the church interact with politics? As Christians, we are citizens of Heaven first and our primary loyalty is to King Jesus. We are called to seek the glory of God and the Kingdom of Heaven as we live as exiles in this world.
Mark 7:8-9 The Purity culture movement from the 90’s left many people confused about what the Bible teaches about sex and holiness. Jesus warns his disciples not to add rules to God’s word, nor to relax them. We need a right view the Bible’s teaching about sex and the good news of forgiveness in Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 1:1-11 Church can be a place where people get hurt...and yet, it shouldn't be! What can be done to protect those who might be harmed, and how can hurt people find healing?
John 20:24-31 Jesus deals with many people who have doubts about who he is and what he has done, most notably his own disciple Thomas. Yet throughout his ministry Jesus responds in a variety of ways in order to meet them in their needs. As a church we are called to model this merciful approach to doubt as we build a genuine faith in what Jesus has done.

We are lucky enough to spend more time in Central Park than 99% of New Yorkers, meaning we know the ins and outs of this sprawling oasis in Manhattan. With so many different activities, attractions, and sites in Central Park, it can be hard to know where to spend your time. Luckily, we've got three unique places that will make you fall in love with Central Park! Here are our 3 favorite Central Park Hidden Gems: Conservatory Garden Getting Lost in The Ramble Hallett Nature Sanctuary Hidden Gem #1 - Conservatory Garden We are so disappointed that it took us over a year of living in NYC to go to the Conservatory Garden. It is PHENOMENAL. It boasts three different style areas. The center Italianate Garden, the French-style North Garden, and the English-style South Garden. You'll find massive fountains, squirrel-shaped shrubbery, a wide variety of flowers and plants, and, of course, public bathrooms (this matters). Hidden Gem #2 - Getting Lost in The Ramble The Ramble is one of the most underrated portions, and truly a hidden gem of Central Park. One of our favorite things to do in Central Park is to get lost in The Ramble. There are SO many paths you can explore, and it's one of the most peaceful and quiet places in Manhattan. The Ramble is also home to some of the best bird-watching in New York City. With over 200 species of birds frequenting Central Park each year, this wooded area is the perfect place to spot a new bird. PS- If you haven't downloaded it already, the Merlin Bird ID app is top-notch and free. Even if you aren't a bird enthusiast, it's a great app for learning about and identifying thousands of different birds. Get it here! Hidden Gem #3 - Hallett Nature Sanctuary One of three wooded areas, the Hallett Nature Sanctuary was originally called "The Promontory" by the park's original designers. It is now a beautiful spot free of the hustle and bustle of most parts of Central Park, the mark of a true hidden gem. This rocky, hilled area was later turned into a bird sanctuary in the 1930s and, in 1986, was renamed after George Hervey Hallett, Jr., a nature enthusiast and birder. For years, until a 2016 restoration, this area was minimally cared for and became overrun with feral cats and invasive plants. The restoration helped bring in healthy, native plants and create a beautiful walking path to explore this wooded area. There is also a phenomenal scenic overlook and benches for enjoying this small oasis just steps from Midtown Manhattan! This Episode's You'll Have to Check It Out Segment - Liberty Bagels Liberty Bagels is a phenomenal bagel spot near Central Park with unique bagels like rainbow, "liberty" colors, and french toast. Plus, their birthday cake cream cheese is a whole vibe! They move through long lines quickly and have a friendly staff! The Works sandwich just might be our favorite breakfast bagel in the city! Pro Tip: Order ahead for pickup on their website, especially on the weekend! Check out Liberty Bagels 5th Ave here.
