As the saying goes; what happens in Vegas, stays In Vegas. And that was true about Lando Norris's 24 point lead over 2nd place in the World Driver's Championship after a double dq for McLaren and an imperious win for (former, but on longer title outsider) Max Verstappen. Could Max actually do it this season, from an over 100 point deficit to taking the title in the last 2 race weekends? If he does manage to pip both papaya clad drivers to the title, this will probably go down in history as just about the greatest championship win ever. So get your popcorn ready, we're at the sharp end! This week on the podcast we look back at a Las Vegas Grand Prix that had more tha a few shocks. A wet track, an utterly abysmal Ferrari qualifying strategy, even by their own, already low, standards. Lance Stroll ending up as the victim of a move from Bortaletto that could only be described as "Strollesque" And a reault that's keeping the championship a three way scrap for far longer than anyone thought possible at the Summer break. You might notice that we recorded this on Wednesday this week and thanks to a huge stroke of luck when it comes to F1 news, the Adrian Newey appointment as team principle at Aston Martin from next year was still doing the rounds of shocking and confusing everyone. What is Lawrence Stroll playing at? Is he actually a genius or will this come crashing down like his last few TP appointments did? (We're going to be going through a LOT of popcorn in the future)And if you want to join in with the chat during the races (along with practice and qualifying) head over to our Discord where there's always a great crowd of people to watch along with. McLAREN DISQUALIFIED FROM LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX! VERSTAPPEN NOW HAS A REAL SHOT AT THE CHAMPIONSHIP. DID LCH SIMPLY HAVE A SENIOR MOMENT? THE FIA DEFEND F1 MARSHALL INTERVENTION AND...FERNANDO DOES NOT LIKE THE VEGAS GRAND PRIX IN. NOVEMBER! THE NASIR HAMEED CORNER HAS MORE CLASSIC F1 HISTORY AND, OUR INTERVIEW...CARLOS BOBADA , ATLANTIC SERIES TEAM OWNER. MAX VERSTAPPEN: “Everything went really smooth today and we did well to keep the tyres alive. It was great to get the win here and we had a very good day. The last few laps were very strong, we made no mistakes and had good communication with the pit wall throughout. Our start was really good and Lando was a bit late on the brakes. It was important to get ahead as we were able to then do our own thing and stay really consistent. During the race, the Mediums felt better than expected and we did a decent stint first which made things easier when we got on to the Hard compound. It was a good race for us, we had good pace and everything worked really well. For the next few races we just need to do the best we can and keep trying to win as many races until the end of the year and maximise everything we can. I had fun out there today.” LAURENT MEKIES, CEO & Team Principal “Everyone in the Team and back in Milton Keynes can be proud. The car was fast at a track where we struggled a bit last year and this weekend no one had time to properly prepare because Thursday's practice was somewhat disturbed, as was FP3. The car was fast, our tyre management was up to the job and our execution was very strong. When Max needed to push, he did and was able to bring more to the table. This is a race like no other with the low temperatures and the track layout and tonight, Max and the Team mastered it. As for the start, Max is unbeatable when it comes to this sort of move, so we are no longer surprised! But there were a few critical moments in the race, when George pitted while we and Lando stayed out, but everyone managed it to perfection. As for Yuki, we paid the price for what happened yesterday. Today, we made it, a win is a win, so now we will reset and look ahead to Qatar with the same objective of extracting everything from our package.” George Kurtz becomes co-owner of Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team through minority acquisition in Toto Wolff ownership entity, appointed Technology Advisor. Business innovator and 24 Hours of Le Mans winner invests in the future of the Mercedes- Las Vegas, NV, and Brackley, UK – November 20, 2025 – The Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team and George Kurtz, CEO and Founder of CrowdStrike, today announced that Kurtz has become a co-owner of the team and been appointed Technology Advisor. Through his personal acquisition of a 15% minority interest in the ownership entity controlled by Toto Wolff, which holds one-third of the team in partnership with Mercedes-Benz and INEOS, Kurtz joins Mercedes-Benz, INEOS, and Toto Wolff in the team's long-term ownership group. Kurtz also joins the team's strategic steering committee alongside Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG Ola Källenius, INEOS Group Founder and Chairman Sir Jim Ratcliffe, and Toto Wolff. The governance of the team remains unchanged, and Wolff continues in all existing executive roles. Kurtz is an accomplished endurance racer and globally respected business leader who has built the most successful AI cybersecurity company of the modern era. As an entrepreneur, technologist, and S&P 500 CEO, he's established and scaled world-class innovation and teams. Kurtz's combination of experience uniquely spans cybersecurity, large-scale technology operations, and professional motorsport. In his advisory capacity, Kurtz will support the team's innovation and technology strategy, with a focus on the intersection of competitive motorsport, data analytics, and performance. He will also work to grow the team's ecosystem across the U.S. and global technology sectors, and to secure competitive advantage and investment from new tech partners. "Winning in racing and cybersecurity requires speed, precision, and innovation. Milliseconds matter. Execution counts. Data wins,” said George Kurtz, CrowdStrike Founder and CEO. “Technology is reshaping competitive advantage and human capability everywhere, including motorsport. I'm excited to help the team securely accelerate forward.” Kurtz's ownership builds on years of strategic partnership since CrowdStrike became a Global Partner with the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team in 2019. This strategic partnership continues, with CrowdStrike providing AI-powered cybersecurity solutions that protect the team's technology infrastructure. Welcoming George Kurtz to the team, Team Principal and CEO Toto Wolff commented: “George's background is unusual in its breadth: he's a racer, a loyal sporting ambassador for Mercedes-AMG, and an exceptional entrepreneur. He understands both the demands of racing and the realities of building and scaling technology businesses. That combination brings specific insight that is increasingly relevant to the future of Formula One.” ASTON MARTIN ARAMCO, ARTISTS EQUITY AND WHISPER TEAM UP WITH MARK STEWART PRODUCTIONS FOR ADRIAN NEWEY F1 DOCUMENTARY. Silverstone, UK, 20 November 2025: – Aston Martin Aramco, The Whisper Group and Mark Stewart Productions (MSP) today announced an exciting collaboration with Artists Equity to deliver Turbulence: The Greatest Mind in F1® (working title), a documentary telling the incredible story of Adrian Newey, the world's greatest ever race car designer, as he sets out on his ambitious journey of  advancing Aston Martin Aramco Formula One™ Team to the front of the grid. The documentary will be produced in collaboration with Aston Martin Aramco and F1®. With an extraordinary 12 World Constructors' Championships and 14 World Drivers' Championships to his credit, F1 fans revere Adrian as an era-defining genius. Turbulence follows Newey into the next chapter of his career after he surprised the motorsports world at the beginning of 2025 by leaving Red Bull to join Aston Martin Aramco. Given his unprecedented run of success over the last three decades, the expectations and pressure as he joins Aston Martin Aramco are sky-high. With exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the team's Silverstone campus, the film will follow Adrian as he attempts to design a World Championship challenging car for the relentlessly ambitious British brand, led by owner Lawrence Stroll. This contemporary narrative will be intercut with scenes exploring the triumphs and heartbreaking tragedies of Adrian's truly astonishing career. Turbulence will transcend motorsport and explore universal human themes of ambition, sacrifice, tragedy, and redemption. Adrian Newey, Managing Technical Partner, Aston Martin Aramco Formula One™ Team: “When Mark Stewart approached me about making a docu film, whilst flattered I was initially not sure whether to accept. However, one of the touching things about my 2017 autobiography is the number of letters I have received, relaying how much the book had sparked their interest in and appreciation of the design and engineering that goes into racing cars, how interactive the car design is with the drivers, and how much success is about mindset. “Hopefully this film can portray the passion, the working practice, the strength of mind that is involved in bringing an F1 car to the grid. The film charts the challenges I have faced in joining a new team in early March to prepare for what is arguably the biggest regulation change in F1 history. It also delves into the story behind my career up to this point and how it has helped to prepare me for this enormous challenge. “It's been a wild ride so far, but F1 never stands still. I hope that the film will capture some of that  restless energy, and our constant drive towards improved performance.”

The Aston Martin team is preparing to unveil the super signing of the 2024 season. Someone who will shape their Formula 1 cars and - if things go to plan - the team's future at the front of the grid. But until then the news has to be kept under wraps. In the ultra-competitive world of Formula 1 secrecy is a necessity. The McLaren and Aston Martin teams are also gearing up for a return to racing at Round 15 of the World Championship, the Dutch Grand Prix, held at the seaside circuit of Zandvoort. Here, Lando Norris will take on Red Bull title rival Max Verstappen in his own backyard. Since becoming an F1 race-winner at the Miami Grand Prix, Norris has been racing at the next level, but he's taking nothing for granted as he goes up against the Dutch hero in front of his adoring fans. The titles, trophies and Championships that spur on the teams are hard-fought. The art of racing can perhaps be compared to the art of war. Aston Martin's Performance Director Tom McCullough says the teams must steel themselves with a “war mentality” before each race weekend. Within their ranks, Aston Martin boasts a seasoned warrior - double World Champion Fernando Alonso. Team insiders call the Spanish legend a human “supercomputer” because of the high-level performance he brings on and off the track. At Monza, the famous Italian circuit known as the Temple of Speed, the scene is set for another dramatic grand prix. Sometimes the art of racing means you have to battle those closest to you, and there's no-one nearer than the driver on the other side of the garage. McLaren have two exciting, young drivers on their books in Norris and Oscar Piastri. Letting them race - so long as it's a clean fight - is part of the team's philosophy. But, after the Italian Grand Prix, will McLaren re-examine how they take on the battle for both Championships? At their Silverstone headquarters, Aston Martin unveils a big-name signing with a live television broadcast. The team's owner Lawrence Stroll is on hand to make the big announcement, not only to the world's media, but the workforce assembled back at base. But even the arrival of one of F1's most-famous names doesn't stop the focussed work inside an F1 factory. This is the pinnacle of motorsport and the stopwatch never stands still. F1:Back at Base is narrated by Josh Hartnett. It is created and produced by Sarah Holt and Holly Samos and is an IMG Production for the BBC.

The team's reliance on a perfectly balanced power unit has been called into question, especially as Adrian Newey cautions that engine performance will matter more than aerodynamics under the new rules. On top of that, rumors suggest Newey might clash with Lawrence Stroll over the future of Lance Stroll, amplifying concerns about whether Aston Martin can fulfill its lofty championship ambitions. With Fernando Alonso eyeing 2026 as a potential final shot at glory, the pressure is on to avoid a repeat of the McLaren-Honda era missteps and prove that the new facilities and massive investments won't go to waste.Stay tuned for the full breakdown, including insight into why Red Bull's move away from Honda could be a lucky escape and how teams like Audi might outpace Aston Martin right from the start. With F1 experts Sarah Holt and Holly Samos as our guides, we will meet the workforce driving them forwards from the heart of their operations. The detailed work going on back at base has driven McLaren into contention for both World titles in 2024. This is Norris' first title campaign and we will be with him every step of the way, from his first day back at work following F1's summer break to after the chequered flag falls at the season finale in Abu Dhabi. This is a huge season of growth for Norris, and his Australian teammate Oscar Piastri. The drivers reveal just why in this series. At Aston Martin there is also change in the air. The team, owned by Canadian billionaire Lawrence Stroll, is in the final phase of building a supersize F1 headquarters on the fringes of the famous Silverstone racetrack, home of the British Grand Prix. The work going on at the evolving Aston Martin Racing Technology Campus is on a scale never seen before in F1. Holly and Sarah are given a VIP tour of the new facilities and speak to drivers Lance Stroll and double world champion Fernando Alonso about how the transformation is fuelling the team's future ambitions. But it's not only the factory making headline news, so too is the arrival of the team's “Super Signing”. Formula 1 never stands still. The race for perfection continues around-the-clock at the factory. At McLaren, Piastri and Norris are set the task of working together to collect enough points to win a first Constructors' Championship for McLaren since 1998. Overseeing operations is McLaren CEO Zak Brown and team principal Andrea Stella. But, as the season reaches its climax, all they can do is watch and wait. The fate of the team now lies in the hands of the drivers but taking on reigning champions Red Bull and arch-rivals Ferrari is no small feat. ¿o no? This week we look at why it is so tricky to build a winning team in F1 and why success is never guaranteed. We go behind the scenes of Adrian Newey's big-money move to Aston Martin and ask what this means for the competitive picture in F1 over the next five years. And we hear from celebrated manager David Richards, who took BAR Honda to second place in the World Championship 20 years ago against Michael Schumacher's dominant Ferrari team. Joining James in the studio are Autosport F1 Editor Jon Noble and Chief Writer Ben Hunt, who were both at Aston Martin's swanky new HQ for the Newey announcement. There is no doubting Lawrence Stroll's bold vision, nor his willingness to back his instincts with hard cash to buy the world-class facilities and people Newey will work with. But success in F1 is never guaranteed. How will this change the competitive picture in F1 over the next five years? And what can David Richards' many years of success at the top of motorsport tell us about how winning teams are built?

In the recent earnings call held on Wednesday, February 28th 2024, Aston Martin Lagonda Global Holdings highlighted their financial performance, product advancements, and alignment with consumer trends. During the call, the company's CEO, Lawrence Stroll, reported that the introduction of DB12 saw unparalleled success, stating, "DB12 got off to the greatest launch that we've ever had in our 111-year history with thousands of customer orders before anyone ever saw or touched the car." The success was attributed to the initial launch in the south of France before the Monaco Grand Prix. The company's performance can be traced back to its bolstered product portfolio, featuring new models including the DB12, Vantage, and DBS770 Ultimate. These models have reportedly refreshed the brand and contributed to increased sales. Stroll confirmed on the earnings call, the DB12 is now in full production. Aston Martin has recognized contemporary trends for personalized experiences by introducing its bespoke division, "Q by Aston Martin". This personalization options reported on the earnings call has helped drive options revenue and facilitated adaptation to individual customer demands. Increased brand visibility and consumer reception, due to marketing initiatives like participation in Formula One, were acknowledged in the earnings call as key components in attracting potential customers and boosting interest in the brand. Keeping abreast of consumer preferences towards plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) and eventual transitioning to fully electric vehicles (BEV), Aston Martin confirmed investment plans in electric vehicle programs and partnerships. Acknowledged on the call, this includes a partnership with Lucid Group, aiming for positive cash flow generation by the second half of 2024 and targeting a range of electric sports cars and SUVs for their lineup by 2030. Looking to the future, Aston Martin has plans for product launches including a flagship sports car and a mid-engine hybrid supercar named Valhalla. Discussed in the earnings call, the company has plans to expand its ultra-luxury retail strategy, with potential new showrooms in locations such as Tokyo and London. In conclusion, the latest earnings call from Aston Martin presents a portrayal of a company that is performing well financially, demonstrating a commitment to product innovation, and acknowledging shifting consumer trends. While the company's product strategies, awareness of consumer shifts and investment in future-focused initiatives paint a positive picture, it is important to consider these within the context of the broader industry's challenges and uncertainties. Dan Fallows: directing Aston's rise

In 2023, Aston Martin took a leap to the front of Formula 1. They went from midfield battlers to podium finishers, ahead of Mercedes and Ferrari. How? As the engineer who led the creation of the team's car, Technical Director Dan Fallows, is one of many possible answers to that question. Dan began his F1 career in 2002, as an aerodynamic engineer for Jaguar. Four years later, he joined Red Bull – where he learnt from one of the sport's greatest car designers in the form of Adrian Newey and played a part in the team's most successful period. His first two seasons at Aston Martin were difficult, but it seems to be third time lucky for Dan and the team. He tells Tom Clarkson why the 2022 car is far superior to its predecessor and how the talent of the team's workforce surpassed his expectations. He explains where his passion for aerodynamics comes from, how playing guitar keeps him occupied outside of F1, and why Fernando Alonso has had such a big impact on the team.
