Discover how integral coaching invites individuals to embrace their full selves—mind, body, and spirit—and how coaches can empower their team members to take responsibility, commit to each other, and work more efficiently together. We'll delve into the art of attunement and response in effective coaching. From practical tips on supporting shy or introverted clients to insights on the mind-body connection and strategies for handling resistance, this episode is packed with valuable knowledge for both new and experienced coaches. Check out the highlights; 1.08: Text or Call? 2.13: What is integral coaching? It is an invitation for someone to discover and lean into their vocation/purpose! To include all of yourself, your thinking world, your feeling world, and your sensing world. 3.13: What can a coach do if their team members are bringing "all" of their problems to work? It is important to have the person consider: How can you step into more responsibility? More ownership when you show up as your true self? More self-leadership? How can you support the team? Working together more efficiently? 5.04: How did you become a coach? 7.15: How can people uncover their vocation? Acknowledge that that voice is there and then listen to your inner voice. 9.19: What makes a great coach? Attunement (to self and others) - listening beyond the words Response (to your client in a way that is helpful) 13.11: How to coach a person who is shy, reserved, or introverted? Shift the physical dynamics, environment, or space to create new insights 16.09: What are your thoughts on the mind and body connection? Relax into the discomfort, breathe into the pain (stop trying to PUSH THROUGH it) PAUSE, take a breath, and let's "see what happens", take one more step! Remember WHY am I doing this? What's my commitment? 18.18: How can you help coaches who are experiencing resistance? "What is the resistance teaching me?" "How do I befriend resistance?" 20.28: Do you think that this next generation is internally motivated? Yes! People want it but don't necessarily know how to access it. The missing piece is commitment! 22.09: How can you help a team be more cohesive? It comes back to being aligned with the team's commitment! 23.29: What's your purpose? "letting go of everything that is not love and becoming all flame bringing healing and light to others!" 24.01: What disruptive coaching idea do you have that will change the way we coach in 2030? Coaching is for people who can listen holistically and respond generatively! 25.22: Do you think anyone can become a coach? 26.14: What do you mean by 'Leader as Coach?' "Being the wind under the wing." 27.54: New Venture West Coach Training has three main tracks: 1) Personal cultivation: A coach's way of being - how does the coach show up? (the coach is the soil and you have to cultivate the soil) 2) Learning competencies and skillful coaching: Coaching skills (plant the seeds of coaching skills such as listening, and making requests) 3) Learning within a community: Dual track is practiced within a cohort so that you can all learn from each other 30.02: Three top tips on how coaches can respond generatively. 1) Attunement: Who is this person now? (Not, who do we think they are!) 2) Notice our skillfulness (What's my own range in being able to respond?) 3) Who am I learning from? Failing sucks! It hurts! But don't let your mind create false stories about what your failures mean, because they are a requirement to succeeding. That's why in this episode we will discuss: -How the reaction to a failure is the ego speaking -What is the ego and why is it saying that stuff to us? -What to do when you face a moment of failure -To give or not to give failure a meaning I will give you several ways to reframe failure, especially it has happened to you multiple times over and over, and share with you a fun friends analogy to encourage you. Because I've been there multiple times, I know that even with all the reframing we do, and the zero meaning we give our fails, we still wanna know at the end of the day WHY is it happening? Why are certain dreams not manifesting yet? I will share with you the best answer I have found in my search for the why. & it's one your ego won't love, but it will eventually make sense! Please do not give up. No matter how many times, you've given it a shot, no matter how pointless it sometimes feels to keep trying. Keep going. Hold the faith. Hold the vision. Today we are talking about another idea to help you get even more done, which is Enthusiasm Equals Energy. Attack each task with the same level of enthusiasm you would give your favorite hobby or sport. Approaching each new project with enthusiasm boosts your energy levels and helps you get the job done faster and more efficiently. Remember WHY you got into this business in the first place can help with increasing your enthusiasm, when you need more. You obviously became a business owner for a reason. Perhaps you have a passion for what you do, or it allows the flexibility you need in your schedule. Maybe your income provides great benefits to you or your family that would otherwise be minimal if it were not for your business. Ask yourself: Who/what inspired me to make the initial commitment to this goal? Is my reasoning behind the commitment (my big why) still a high priority - a high enough priority to continue my commitment to doing whatever it takes – and nothing less? Connecting to the why allows you to feel emotions and renew your commitment to the goal and what has to be done to achieve it. --Download my complimentary Values Clarification Exercise to help get you started on defining and getting clarity on our values (your reasons WHY), to help you with your consistent motivation and inspiration, by going to: https://www.accountabilitycoach.com/values-clarification/. Welcome to the Determined to Dance podcast with your host, Jennifer Hallmark. Today's episode, “Perseverance: The Virtue of Courage” focuses on the ability to move past fear and why we need it to persevere. Are you ready? The world would have us march to its chaotic beat but God invites us to dance in His will and His way. Let's take a moment to be energized, refreshed, and motivated to face the day, one spin and twirl at a time. Show Notes: Perseverance: Courage When You Don't Have Strength I googled quotes, then images when I began to study for this podcast. Napoleon Bonaparte said, "Courage isn't having the strength to go on, it is going on when you don't have the strength." Wow. Fits how I've felt lately, to be sure. The images I found surprised me though. I was thinking of a lion or soldier. Instead, I found a tightrope walker, someone leaping a wide ravine, a goldfish leaping from his fishbowl into a lake. And only one lion pic. But it wasn't a lion, it was a housecat with a lion's shadow. I needed to readjust my thinking. Instead of courage being something or someone strong or well-trained, courage is the ordinary attempting the extraordinary. All the images I saw were attempts at something way beyond the normal comfort zone. Hmm. Comfort zone. The perfect opposite of courage. I know that fear is probably most thought of as the opposite but for me, maybe for you, the endless search for comfort holds more truth. It is more comfortable and much easier to sit alongside the wall at the dance, sipping a cup of punch, than to put yourself on the dance floor, in front of others, where you might really mess up and fail. Flop. Draw tons of unwanted attention from another error. Do I, do you, really want to take a chance and try to tango when so much is at stake? Like our pride, our reputation, our ability to appear in public. I don't know about y'all, but I can make the tiniest mistake in judgment, like buying a cute butterfly T-shirt and wearing it the next day. What's wrong with that? Only a problem when you get home and notice the clear strip of tape that shouts your size that you forgot to remove when you decided to wear it. I cringe to think how many people wondered about my state of mind. I'd like to say this has only happened once but… Courage. Going on when you don't have the strength. When you're embarrassed. When you've failed. When you're too tired to keep trying. I don't think you can persevere without courage. Every morning when you wake up and decide to face one more day and do the best you can, you're displaying courage. Like Maria in the Sound of Music: https://youtu.be/dUFBOC6lQoo I work on most of my podcasts on Monday. The hardest day of the week to get started. Emails are screaming for answers, the house tends to be messy, the phone constantly rings, and I just want the weekend back. Is that too much to ask? But I'm here at my computer, mustering all the courage I can, to work on the episode and my to-do list. Why? So many times, life seems like an endless Monday. What can help me let go of the weekends of life and move forward when I don't want to? Remember: Why do I do what I do? I write because I can't not write. I clean because I don't like clutter. I love and encourage those around me because I want to be loved in return. Doesn't always happen but God steps in and fills me when others can't or won't. I forget the Mondays when I failed. Flopped. Gave up. I forget the times I didn't measure up to my own expectations. This leads me to number 3. Let go. I release the anger and disappointment I hold against myself for not being perfect. I release bitterness that creeps in when others let me down. I release all my fears and worries and anxious moments to God and take the next step. In faith. Because that's where we find courage. We have faith in the God who tells us we're never alone, never without help, never left behind.
THE STRUGGLE: Don't have a big group of friends Never had close friend relationships Always awkward for me Moved so much Friends scattered all over Not local Lots of my friends have kids Never been good at knowing how to make friends Doubt that someone wants to be friends w me Assume that they already have friends and won't wanna hang w me My friends don't live in the same state anymore We didn't go to the same schools Self confidence thing: assumed that people didn't wanna be my friend Never knew how to take THE SOLUTION: Nurture and reach out to the friends you already have and ask yourself if there are any that are worth adding effort and which ones do you need to let go of? Remember WHY you want friendship [common interests, share stories, enjoy each others company, jokes, convos, laughing, good dinner] Find people who SEE and VALUE and PRIORITIZE your friendship as much as you value it Know that different friends have different purposes ex: fun day to day, vs. family crisis, vs. Friendship is like dating - find similar interests IN SUMMARY: Be the person that goes first. Be the friend you want to attract. You are WHO you attract I am in the process of building of safe community for high achievers who want to be surrounded by other like-minded women who are destined for big things. Imagine if we could give the tools to have a meaningful exchange beyond commands and requests. Renovating is super exciting but it can also be really stressful and exhausting. If your budget or circumstances don’t allow for the luxury of living elsewhere while you’re renovating, it’s an experience you want to be prepared for. Lucky for you, Rebeka and Kribashini have quite a lot of experience and are raring to share their top tips to make things easier during a renovation. In this episode, Rebeka and Kribashini take a dive into the practicalities of living through a renovation and share what they have learned through their numerous personal renovation experiences. If you’re thinking about renovating or currently living through a renovation, this episode is for you. Rebeka and Kribashini compare living through a renovation to camping. It’s fun (for some) and really dirty. There’s basically no way around the dirt factor but there are some practical ways you can minimise the impact and mentally prepare for the experience. They share some super helpful tips on decluttering, setting up a temporary kitchen and making sure everyone knows where the rubbish bin is! A sense of humour goes a long way in a potentially stressful situation. There will be dust everywhere, there will be noise and tradies in and out of the place, so Rebeka and Kribashini remind us to laugh and bring the fun to renovation. And if you really can’t hack it, there’s no harm in having a weekend away to bring back some perspective. Remember WHY you’re doing this in the first place! We all need a little help from our friends sometimes and renovation is definitely the time to start reaching out to your family and friends. A meal here or there and some babysitting goes a long way. Everyone has a different experience throughout renovation so make sure you let us know your top tips. We’re all about helping each other and keeping the joy of renovation alive. The late saxophonist Don Lanphere enjoyed mixing things up on each album and he recorded a dozen albums in late life. In 1996, Don Lanphere invited Pete Christlieb to join him in a one-day studio session that produced an appropriately titled CD, "Get Happy." The pianist on the date, Marc Seales contributed a tune titled "Remember Why" which will open Jazz Northwest this Sunday. Also on this week's show, a tune celebrating the H.O.E. It can feel devastating when you’ve started a new exercise routine, get on the scale, and see the number go up. Let me tell you - you are not alone! Let’s chat about what’s actually happening. The Chief Complaint: I Am Exercising So Hard and the Scale is Going Up Ladies, if you’re feeling frustrated with the scale, I absolutely feel your pain. You work so hard on your fitness and exercise routine and feel really good about it, only to hop on the scale and see a gain. Most of us have been there, so know you’re not alone. It’s this very reason that I’m so passionate about using other tools to measure your goal. This could look like progress pictures, my personal fave, calipers, a measuring tape, or even how your clothes fit. Because what actually happens when you start a new exercise routine? Your body starts going through so many different changes that I detail in this episode… and these reasons are why your body might actually hold onto weight. Don’t stress out about this! Let’s talk about why you should keep pursuing your goals. I cover some of the reasons why your body holds onto and even gains weight when you start working out and how you can help your body through these initial months. What can you do to help your body during this transition? You should absolutely be eating within an hour of working out. You should also be drinking more water than you think you should: the general rule is your weight in pounds divided by 2 in fluid ounces. You also need to make sure you’re getting enough sleep and rest. I know for us physicians, this can be difficult with our demanding schedules. But trust me when I say that sleep is so important if you’re working on body composition changes. The most important thing you can do while you’re on a fitness journey is to enjoy it. Remember WHY you’re doing it and feel into the ebb and flow that all journeys take us on. Homework I want you to Google what one point of fat looks like so you can actually see what you gain and lose on your fitness journey. What are your goals and how are you measuring them? Is your appetite in check and how is your food quality? Let me know in the comments on the episode page how that was for you! In This Episode Why the scale can’t be the only tool you measure your goal with What actually happens to our body when we start a new exercise routine Why you should eat within one hour of working out How much water you should drink when you’re training more Some of the reasons why you might gain weight when you start exercising How a lack of sleep will affect your hormones and your weight Why you HAVE to enjoy your fitness journey Quotes “Most commonly, in that first week or two of a new exercise routine, you’re gaining weight because of glycogen, water, and think inflammation as well.” (9:39) “I can’t stress it enough, you need to have more than one way to measure your progress if your goal is to gain muscle and lose fat.” (19:27) “If you are enjoying the journey, who cares how long this takes? That’s the whole point.” (23:25) “Your life should not fit into your food and exercise. Your food and exercise should fit into your life.” (24:19) Resources Mentioned Learn how to Become Brave Enough to Love Yourself - Use Promo Code BE100 for $100 off Join the Waitlist for the Life Coaching Society! Stress is a serious problem during the Holiday season. Research has shown that people are more likely to have a heart attack during this time. Stress starts to set in around December 13, it can escalate to extreme stress around December 18 and it reaches an all time high on Christmas day. How do we fight stress? 1. Take a break during your day. 2. Make time for "me time" 3. Eat fresh fruit and/or veggies 4. Get a good night's sleep 5. Remember WHY we celebrate - Jesus, keep your heart centered Helpful sleep tips from Revelation Wellness Blog, it also lists the natural sleep aids I mention in the podcast https://www.revelationwellness.org/2019/12/why-sleep-matters/
Selling the Dream: A Podcast for Resort & 2nd Home Real Estate Agents
What matters most? I heard this story at the national convention, and wanted to share it with you. This guy was sitting on a plane, and feeling really upset. He’d had a fight with his wife, and things weren’t going his way. In that moment, however, he paused and realized something powerful. Real estate agents can get so caught up in the hustle and the drive of selling, and constantly building our business. We get mad at situations, and people, and just get caught up in all of that. But at the end of the day, what is most important? You won’t want to miss this Tip Tuesday episode of the Selling the Dream podcast, where I remind you on what we should be giving thanks for! Thanks for joining us on Selling the Dream - we wouldn’t be where we are without you listening, and giving your feedback! Don’t get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life that you miss out on what is really important. Be thankful for your family, be thankful for your spouse, for your kids. Remember WHY you do what you do. Don’t forget how you got to where you are today. Remember WHY you started! • The reason most people quit is they forget why they started. • Not everyday is fun. Not everyday is profitable. • But everyday is an adventure- to learn and to teach. • It will take years for you to settle in and know your business inside and out. Don’t get discouraged the outcome is so worth it. Learning how to overcome obstacles will become second nature. Not like at the beginning where you cry or have an anxiety attack because Lucy said your products were crap or Bob don’t like the way you look online. It’s all part of the process!

Valley resident Myrlin Hepworth has built his career on words, words that eventually evolved into hip-hop. The work of this poet and musician has been featured on NPR and after the release of two mixtapes, he just launched his first album called Remember Why on April 15. A new music video is due out June 1. But another side of his lifestyle is as a youth advocate and teaching artist, working with thousands of kids sharing his poetry, his experience as a Chicano and as a human. In episode 24 of On The Grid, we sit down with Myrlin and discuss art, the creative process and giving back.
Welcome back. In this episode we will carry on with the idea of ‘Becoming Badass’. Remember Why we’re here. To create an elite tribe of leaders, using the principles of Agile to strengthen our personal practice; and to bring your improved game back to our teams and our leadership. We started with an orientation of the principles and philosophies, then, we took on the fundamentals of making a commitment to serve, setting a vision for ourselves, our teams and our product, and how to break down all previous notions of what you are and what you’re capable of so we can build back up stronger. Mindset And Habit Pairs Now its time to integrate new mindset and habit pairs. These pairs are all about choosing a new way of seeing, understanding, AND new ways of behaving. The mindset powers the habit, and the habit reinforces the mindset. Review - Badass Mindset/Habit Pair - The Body The body will not betray what the mind thinks and feels. Your face and your body is the interface through which the world will experience your massiveness. Your badass self. Adopt the posture of the confident person. Stand straight up, with your chest out. Chin up. Make your body still; when you do move, move with purpose. Move intentionally. Think about what movements you are about to make before you make them. Do this for a week. Does it change how others respond to you? More importantly, did it change how you feel about yourself? Check out Ted Talk - Amy Cuddy: Your body language shapes who you are. Assuming you have done that for a week, the next step, as covered in Podcast 2 was to have a picture of your future. Know who you are, what you stand for, where you are going. Before we hit the next step, your assignment for this week, let’s recap the Badass principles: A badass: 1. Has a Compelling Picture of The Future - know what they want. know what they stand for 2. Doesn't care what others think 3. Doesn’t care about positional authority 4. Won’t rest until they’re the best 5. Is always In complete control of their states - emotional, physical, mental Everything they do and say oozes badass. And they don’t even have to try. 6. Is Already good enough - never seeking approval of others, attention 7. Is Unafraid to fail and be wrong, learn by experimentation, completely accountable for their mistakes 8. Always goes first 9. Never Quits 10. Values their time as a precious commodity 11. Doesn’t value certainty or safety, so they break rules repeatedly. They live and learn best at the edge of their fears. 12. Maintains humour and levity 13. Never Apologizes for Who they Are So now that you have your vision, what do you do? Start to live by your core values. No matter what. Look at the following badass values: 1. #2 - Doesn't care what others think 2. #3 - Doesn’t care about positional authority, 3. #11 - Doesn’t value certainty or safety, so they break rules repeatedly. They live and learn best at the edge of their fears, and 4. # 13 - Never Apologizes for Who they Are A badass lives and learns best at the edge of her fears. Fear of rejection. Fear of loss. Fear of uncertainty. Next time you are asked do something you don’t believe in doing, something not aligned to your values and vision, just say “sorry, that’s not what I do”. The secret to being hyper productive is to do things that you believe in and truly want. Being aligned to your core values. Living your vision. This week, find a way to live with courage, to re-think how you and your team operates so that it aligns to what you truly believe.
You can only control two things in life. Your Attitude and Your Actions.- Darren Hardy Thank you Darren for sharing this truth. Your attitude and your actions are all you can control and as we are striving to achieve our #WorkOnWellness goal, we have to accept this and learn it, embed it in our mind, in our hearts. When we start getting frustrated and feeling like we don't want to go to the gym, or eat properly, we need to remember that you can control your attitude and your actions. You can control these two things. Yes, you can control that feeling of negativity, those feelings of desire for the donut. We can also control our actions. We can make the decision to go to the gym, to work out that extra ten, fifteen minutes. We can change the habit of looking for sweets and treats when we are depressed or stressed. We can do the things we need to do when we need to do them. We have that choice. Some days it harder than others to get up early and hit the gym. I know. I have been trying to get up early and go to the gym. There are days I decide not to go. It's not anyone's choice but mine when I don't go. I can control my attitude and my actions. The good or bad are my choice. What choices are we going to make? If it's difficult to make the right choice, we need to turn to our Why. Remember Why you are striving to achieve this goal. Knowing the reason why we do what we do, will help remind us why we started this journey to begin with.
