AMDG. Are you looking for the perfect book to take your child's reading to the next level? Look no further than Kolbe's newly updated Literature & Catholic National Reader program for elementary students! Originally published in 1895, the Catholic National Readers became a staple in many Catholic homes. “We started with the idea of just redoing them, making the font size appropriate and following standards,” Senior Curriculum Developer Maggie Hayden explains. But the project quickly developed into something more. Under the artful guidance of Curriculum Developer Mara Matteoli, the classic texts blossomed into a fully-fledged reading and literature course, integrating comprehension with hands-on activities and a workbook of unique exercises. With beautiful pages, engaging and uplifting stories, and an individualized reading pace, this course meets young readers where they are and guides them to the next level. "The children aren't even going to know they are working!" Maggie promises. “Can time-traveling Catholics fulfill Sunday obligation?” This intriguing question opens a discussion that spans various theological topics, including how baptism would apply to a Trill and symbiote from Star Trek, and whether a baptized person with intellectual disabilities can be considered a saint. Visit Catholicanswersspeakers.com Questions Covered: 01:00 – How would baptism work for a Trill and symbiote (from Star Trek)? 12:30 – Would a time-traveling Catholic before Christ still have a Sunday obligation? 16:39 – Why hasn't God revealed stories of earlier creations before our time? 28:48 – Can a baptized person with intellectual disabilities be considered a saint? 38:05 – Should the Church explore the 4th dimension to better understand Scripture? 47:34 – Any strange movies with rich theological themes to recommend?
Join Erik and Tage this week as they are joined by Marie and Kate as they discuss if they would let someone else plan their Disney vacation from hotel to daily itinerary, what they think should be the next thing added or changed at Disneyland, why they believe fans aren't going to see original Disney movies in theaters, and what moment they would time travel to in Disney Park history. Support the podcast by going to https://www.thehubcrawl.com/support. Question 1: Would you trust someone else to plan your entire Disney vacation “” from hotel to daily itinerary “” without giving you any details until right before you leave? Why or why not? Question 2: What's the next thing Disney should add or change at Disneyland? Question 3: Every Disney fan I know says that they want more original stories when it comes to Disney and Pixar films rather than relying on sequels and remakes, but it seems that there is a trend of original films doing more poorly at the box office than sequels and remakes (eg Elio vs Lilo & Stitch or Inside Out 2). What do you think is keeping people out of the theater for original stories and if you were put in charge of solving this problem, what would your recommendations be? Question 4: If you could time-travel to any moment in Disney Park history, where would you go and why? Bonus Question: What keeps you from going to the parks more frequently AND what could the company do to help bridge that gap?

Here I break the silence: I lost a child two years ago. Since then, my wife and I have harrowed through hell. Are there Biohacks and lifehacks for dealing with this kind of grief? Yes and no. To some extent, the pain of loss is pain that becomes you. It's pain that wraps itself around every quantum fiber of your soul for the duration of this life. But the mental health crisis that ensues after losing a child, that's hackable. But the story of the worst day of my life - the worst thing that ever happened to us - ends with the greatest hope.Read

Send us a textEver wondered what life could look like if you broke free from the conventional 9-5?David Cole and his family sold their home in Chicago in 2019 and haven't stopped moving since. Cecilie and Jesper talk with him about how they made the shift from occasional travellers to full-time nomads."I think what stopped us the most was mindset," David reveals, reflecting on their journey from dreaming to doing. After years of passionate but occasional travel, they finally made the leap—starting with house-sitting across the US before boarding a 22-day cruise to Singapore and continuing through Southeast Asia. What began as a shared love for exploration evolved into a complete lifestyle redesign that prioritizes presence, connection, and curiosity. This isn't about escaping; it's about deciding how to live and taking the next step—even if it's not perfect.
Berlin is a case study of how things can go wrong when a country has suffered losses and trauma. As its citizens and leaders slowly turn away from collaborative solutions and towards stark divisions in power and a dark fascist vision, slow motion disaster unfolds. Everyone can sense it but no one person has the power to prevent it. Based on the three volume graphic novel Berlin written by Jason Lutes it covers the time period between WWI and WWII focusing on the conditions needed for fascism to arise. This new theatrical adaptation by Mickle Maher, directed by Charles Newell dives into the stories of 13 characters, illuminating the events through their perspectives. Its world premier was at Court Theatre on Chicago's southside. Listen to this full review by Kim Campbell

We all have these images, these moments from our childhoods that stick with us forever. Perhaps it’s the day you learned to ride on a two-wheel bike or a seemingly simple time when you were playing a board game with your sibling. For writer Andrew Patrie, he’s been exploring some of these memories that he says have been “cauterized” in his mind. He shared a story, “Built to Last,” at a live storytelling event hosted by Wisconsin Public Radio’s “Wisconsin Life” and the Chippewa Valley Writers Guild. It was held on Nov. 14, 2024 in Eau Claire at The Lakely.

“TIME TRAVELING BROTHERS OF THE PHILADELPHIA EXPERIMENT” #WeirdDarknessRadio WEEK OF DEC 08-14, 2024==========HOUR ONE: Allegedly, in the fall of 1943 a U.S. Navy destroyer was made invisible and teleported from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Norfolk, Virginia, in an incident known as the Philadelphia Experiment. Records in the Archives Branch of the Naval History and Heritage Command have been repeatedly searched, but no documents have been located which confirm the event, or any interest by the Navy in attempting such an achievement. But then, those who came to this conclusion probably didn't interview Duncan Cameron and Al Bielek. They were onboard the ship when it happened. The two sides of the Philadelphia Experiment. (Time Traveling Brothers) *** While it may look picturesque during the day, worthy of a post card, the town of Pluckley in Kent, UK is known as a place where you will often hear something go bump in the night. (Paranormal Pluckley) *** A man has a frightening experience after checking into a hotel. But then, what would you expect if the rumor is that the place is haunted? (Haunted Malaysian Hotel Room)==========HOUR TWO: According to the song, silence is golden. And it really can be; there are plenty of times when we just want to shut everything out and relax in peace and quiet. But silence isn't always all it's cracked up to be, either, and too much silence can drive you mad. It all starts with being able to hear your own organs working, and after about 45 minutes, you'll start to hallucinate. Silence—and other types of sensory deprivation—can do some weird things to the body and mind… and to the planet. (The Disturbing Effects of Sensory Deprivation) *** A U.S. Air-Force chaplain is called to duty not against a human enemy – but a spiritual one. (Air Force Exorcist)==========SUDDEN DEATH OVERTIME: It is one of the most controversial cases of Chilean ufology. Beings that would have announced earthquakes, natural disasters and the fall of the Challenger. For more than two decades there has been speculation about the existence of the famous Friendship Island, however until now there is still no certainty of its possible location, nor of the truthfulness of the contacts with the extraterrestrial inhabitants of that island. (Extraterrestrials In Chile) *** Human history reports strange sightings in the skies with the appearance of three suns, unnaturally shaped clouds, and fireballs in the sky. Do all of these ancient eyewitness accounts have a natural explanation, or could we be seeing reports of extraterrestrial visitations in centuries past? (Flying Saucers In The Clouds) *** According to oral tradition, a pair of witches came up from the underworld bringing the Native American Zuni people two gifts… and one of those gifts was death. Segment 1: UFO Drones and Time Travel The episode kicks off with lively banter and a deep dive into the world of UFOs and government cover-ups. The hosts explore mysterious drone sightings over prominent locations like Trump's golf course and Langley, debating whether these could be foreign surveillance, government experiments, or even false flag operations. They also revisit time-travel theories and delve into a book suggesting UFOs are piloted by future humans conducting genetic experiments to ensure their lineage. This leads to an exploration of the enigmatic Men in Black, theorized to be time-traveling enforcers with ties to secret societies and dark magic.
