In January of 2014, local San Antonio news outlets began reporting claims made by a man who named himself as the “World's Greatest Bigfoot Tracker”. As proof that he deserved the title, the man released photos of the preserved body of what he claimed was a Sasquatch that he shot and killed in 2012. The hunter reported that the body had been held at a testing facility at a Northwestern U.S. university where it had been subjected to a battery of tests to verify that it was indeed the legendary cryptid known as Bigfoot. In the following days, the body would be exhibited at a number of impromptu venues where skeptics and believers alike were able to get a close up view of a seemingly myth made flesh. If it wasn't incredible enough that a Bigfoot had finally been bagged, according to the tracker, this was actually the second Bigfoot body he had managed to retrieve. The first had been turned over to shadowy government agents after they had threatened the tracker and his family. Walt the Music Man is a Uniontown singer/songwriter's who's inspiration to sing a song about Bigfoot has inspired an entire album dedicated to those who hunt the legendary beast of debatable mythology. Walter Shrum has been writing and singing songs for 20 years and even turned his attic into a makeshift recording studio, but a bit of inspiration took him down an unusual songwriting path. It was something about Bigfoot — a.k.a Sasquatch, Yeti, Hairy Stinka Boo, Skunk Ape, Momo and Windego — that Shrum was looking into that caused him to come up with a song and contact his friend and local television personality Harry Metz to shoot a music video to the song “Searching For Bigfoot.” The song's music video, which can be found on YouTube under “Searching for Bigfoot Music Video,” features areas like the Brownsville Drive-In and the Route 40 Diner. The video scored more than 8,000 hits on YouTube, but one of those hits came from Rick Dyer, a Bigfoot hunter who has gained national attention over the years and who shared the music video on his website. The 21-song CD titled “Tribute to the Stars of Bigfoot” not only mentions up to 25 of those Bigfoot hunters who have gained national press and have their own shows, but also includes autographs from them on the CD case, including Rick Dyer, Derek Randles, Biff Burke, Dallas Gilbert, Justin Smeja, Stacy Brown, Tammy Murray, Michael Merchant. Others cited include Matt Moneymaker, Cliff Barackman, James “Bobo” Fay and Ranae Holland from the television show “Finding Bigfoot,” and Beyond The Edge Radio Host and Bigfoot Hunter Eric Altman. Shrum said he plans on shopping his songs to local radio stations and is trying to get the album in mom and pop stores in the area. Tom Biscardi (SearchingforBigfoot.com ) had paid $50,000 to Georgia residents Matthew Whitton and Rick Dyer for their frozen "corpse" and the privilege of trotting them, but not the body, out in front of TV cameras. At the same time, Biscardi sent self-described "Sasquatch detective" Steve Kulls to a secret location - apparently Muncie, Ind. - to check out the specimen. Kulls, it's safe to say, was severely disappointed. The upshot? Bigfoot, once found, is now again missing.
