DescriptionIn this episode of Superhosts Down Under, Ray and Silvia chat with Karen, host of Rosehaven on Rosebud—a charming 1950s European-style cottage on the Mornington Peninsula. Karen shares how a first-guest backyard party taught her to vet bookings and set clear rules; why final walk-throughs, sustainable cleaning hacks (bicarb, lemon, ultra-fine steel wool), and thoughtful touches help maintain a perfect 5-star record across 24 reviews; and her plans to add Pilates, personal training, and candle-making as experiences for guests. Whether you manage one cottage or multiple listings, you'll pick up practical systems for fast turnovers, smart supply management, and exceeding guest expectations. Hi Bang Fam! What this? A surprise little gift for you, as we head into Festivus! Back in November Myf and Zan headed to Nagambie Lakes, a beautiful spot about 90 mins north of Melbourne, for a huge comedy weekender called Comedy In the Vines. We did a live version of Bang On, amongst stand up sets from Celia Pacquola, Dave Hughes, Geraldine Hickey, and Susie Youssef. It was very silly, it was a bit windy, and we definitely made a giant cut out of ourselves and forced Luke McGregor to play “pin the wine on Myf and Zan”… but we also had some wonderful Bang Backs with two very funny comedians and mates, and wanted to share that with you.So dive in, as Rhys Nicholson bangs on about a podcast Zan is absolutely bingeing this summer, and Luke… well… you should just hear it yourself.Oh, and we're very stoked that we'll finally be bringing Bang On LIVE to the whole country! We've just announced a huge national tour, visiting places we've never been before and bringing Bang On to capital cities and towns alike. We hope to see you at one of the shows. Until then, have a safe, restful, and beautiful New Years. Thank you for your love and support of Bang On this and every year. We love youse heaps. 2014 saw Australian comic Celia Pacquola return to Edinburgh for her fourth Fringe Show. ‘Let Me Know How It All Worked Out' looked at the world of psychics and their promise of foretelling the future; specifically one who said she would never have children. (Spoiler… congratulations are in order, Celia and her partner had their first child earlier this year,). Since the Fringe Pacquola moved frequently between the UK Australia, with various apeprances, scriptwriting, and starring appearances in a wide range of shows on the circuit, including radio work on Fox FM and Radio 4, TV work on Would I Lie To You, Live At The Apollo, and Have You Been Paying Attention, and staring in Rosehaven, and The Breaker Uppers. All that was ahead of her in 2014 when she joined me in the podcast studio to talk about her show. It wasn't the first time she'd been on the Fringe podcast, so the whole ‘tell us about your show' quickly descended into discussions of synchronised diving, Tom Daley, Pro/Am contest, and a love of Converse trainers. This week's trip is back to the Gilded Ballon, back to a time when the future we live in now was quite definitely not going to happen, as Celia Pacquola asks the audience to Let Me Know How It All Works Out,
Our special guests in the studio are Mr Paul Sharp (due to problems with his mic you might notice some odd things about his voice. We apologize!) and the legendary Mighty Murri Man Jalen Sutcliffe, lead singer of the Mentolists, star of the ABC's Black Comedy and Rosehaven. We take a detour today and share with you some of the material we play in our other alter-egos, the Mentolists and the Black Swans of Trespass. We put the trad Tassie stuff and the new album on hold while we play some of our favorite reggae tunes. Yes, on banjo and fiddle. Get over it. Get ready from some hefty YouTube copyright lightning strikes as we plunder material that isn't ours, and may or may not be public domain.Keep an eye - sorry, ear out, for the return of the Gadbot 3000 as we roll out our toys to impress (and confuse) our guests! One love! Irie!!
Everyone's favourite red-headed sports-loving jock returns to the show - that's right, it's Luke McGregor! Luke (star of TV's Rosehaven, Utopia and The Weekly) joins the boys for the first time in a few years to talk in-depth about Elden Ring (spoiler free). The famous From Software fan poses some interesting questions about the game, and now that all of the Filthy Boys are enjoying the game they also enjoy talking about it at length! Plus Ben talks Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin and Tommy dishes on Chocobo GP. Thanks Luke for joining us: it's good to finally have an alpha on the show.NOTE: sorry for the brief moment around 54 minutes, some minor tech issues this week! The boys are performing comedy around the country, and you can get tickets! Luke McGregor is refreshingly honest, totally uncomfortable and hilariously funny. You might known him as one half of the writing and acting team behind the ABC's hit TV series Rosehaven, or from his awkward candidness as the presenter in Luke Warm Sex. In this chat Luke tells Jamila Rizvi what it was like getting bullied at school, why he keeps doing comedy despite suffering crippling panic attacks, plus he recounts his experience getting naked at a nudist colony.
