After experiencing gastrointestinal issues in 2022, it took a total of four visits to ERs and an urgent care before a CT scan revealed Sarah Bennett had a mass in her duodenum, near her pancreas. The mass later led to a diagnosis of a rare cancer, neuroendocrine. She did not have to undergo a Whipple procedure, but did have to take an oral form of chemotherapy. That preceded a successful surgical removal of the mass. Sarah achieved survivorship and said her health is very close to what it was before her diagnosis.

As Lynne Maphies, former Curatorial Assistant at the Blanton Museum of Art, knows firsthand — for many artists, “day jobs” do more than pay the rent. In this fascinating behind-the-scenes conversation, Lynne shares the 10 year process that Veronica Roberts, former Blanton Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, directed to create the standout exhibit “Day Jobs.” A dialogue with conceptual artist Sol LeWitt prompted Roberts to explore the different ways that artists establish relationships or get material inspiration from the jobs that sustain them. After receiving hundreds of recommendations from colleagues, scholars, gallerists, and artists in the field, Maphies and the Blanton team selected 100 works by 38 artists whose “day jobs” had a significant impact on their work, grouping works by categories of “other” work the artist performed: Service Industry; Industrial Design; Media & Advertising; Fashion & Design; Caregivers; Finance, Tech & Law; and Art World. Lynne also shares her own “day job” impact, one that redirected her onto her curatorial path.Find Lynne: Linkedin: Lynne Maphies Mentioned:“Day Jobs” Exhibit, Blanton Museum of Art, Austin TX (explore)Veronica Roberts, Director of Cantor Arts Center (learn)Cantor Arts Center, Stanford University, Stanford CA (explore) Anne Carson, Canadian poet, essayist (1950- ) (read) Robert Smithson, American land artist (1938-1973) (learn) Walter de Maria, American artist (1935-2013) (learn) “Savage Dreams,” by Rebecca Solnit (read)Sol LeWitt , American artist (1928-2007) (learn)Louis “Studs” Terkel, American writer, broadcaster (1912-2008) (learn); “Working” by Studs Terkel (1974) (read)Robert Mangold, American minimalist artist (1937 -) (learn) "The Artist as Culture Producer: Living and Sustaining a Creative Life," by Sharon Louden (read)Marsha Cottrell, American landscape painter (1964- ) (learn) Ricardo Valverde (1946 - 1998), American photographer (learn)Sarah Bennett, American photographer (learn)Vivian Maeir, American photographer (1926-2009) (learn)Lenka Clayton, British-American artist (1977- )(learn)Hope Ginsburg, AmeSupport the show

”When we show up for ourselves, we gift those around us opportunities for growth, too.”Sarah Bennett and her young family's journey to wellness took a foothold when her second child was born with a slew of symptoms ranging from eczema to mood disturbances. Her drive to find a cure ultimately led her to a naturopath who resonated with her instinct to look for the root and connecting symptoms for her child who was not thriving in the way he deserved. At the root, it turns out, was a gut imbalance. Sarah's passion for sharing wellness was one of an intentional creation sparked from a dream she had of curating supplements to heal gut issues. Welcome to the Happier in Motherhood Podcast, episode 82. Today I have a super special guest on, Sarah Bennett of Onle Organics. Sarah is a homeschooling, nomadic mama of 4 who lives part-time on 10 acres of absolute paradise in MT when she and her family aren't roaming the US in their Airstream. Sarah and I have known each other online since about 2015 because of both of our families love of traveling full-time although we didn't actually meet in real life until last July 2021, which we recount more of that story in this interview. In 2020, she started her business, Onle Organics, to help mamas take leadership of their family's wellness. Her business has completely taken off and she offers education and products to support families to go from simply surviving to absolute vibrant wellness. In July 2020, Sarah and I began coaching together, and she is also a member of the current round of my group coaching program for mom entrepeneurs called Micro Mastermind. It has been such an honor to watch Sarah grow, both in her motherhood and as a business owner, and I think you are going to be so inspired her story. It's also a very real conversation and some of this may be borderline not safe around kids. Use your best judgment . Stay tuned for the end of the episode where I share how you can connect with Sarah online and also a special invitation. Full show notes: www.thestreamlinedlife.com/the-podcast/82

I noticed back in January of this year that one of Charlotte's most prominent law firms had expanded into the Lake Norman area with the opening of a new office in Cornelius. Sodoma Law specializes in the area of family law, and the firm has made quite the name for itself over the past 12 or so years. Nicole Sodoma, the founder and principal attorney at Sodoma Law, has received accolade upon accolade over the years for her advocacy and the way in which she and her team have empowered their clients to reach successful outcomes. Suffice to say, Nicole is an accomplished attorney, and no doubt has built one of the finest legal teams in the country right here in Charlotte. When Nicole and the managing attorney at Sodoma Law North, Sarah Bennett, agreed to join a conversation for the podcast, I wasn't sure what to expect. I was a little nervous and prepared to be intimidated, but what I experienced was far from anything I expected - this was a fun, and candid conversation - and I think you're really going to enjoy the Sodoma story and getting to know Nicole and Sarah.Sodoma LawSodoma Law - North (Cornelius)Sodoma Law BlogFB: @sodomalawIG: @thesodomawayShout-outs to these local professionals:Eileen Stoner - Morgan StanleyMike Hege - Pridemore PropertiesBirkdale Animal HospitalBooks recommended:Untamed By Glennon Doyle5 Types of People Who Can Ruin Your LifeBy Bill EddyBelieve ITBy Jamie Kern LimaPodcast recommended:Brene BrownSupport the show (https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/epicjourneymedia)
