Israeli troops are set to advance into the Gazan city of Rafah, defying international pleas to reconsider. Some 1.4 million Palestinians are sheltering there. The UK House of Bishops is calling for an immediate ceasefire in the conflict. The Sunday programme spoke to Bishop of Worchester Dr John Inge.Sir Keir Starmer has defended his handling of the antisemitism row in his party as a Muslim candidate is withdrawn from the race in Rochdale. William Crawley speaks to Marc Levy - the chief executive of the Jewish Representative Council of Greater Manchester and Mohammed Shafiq, National Executive Committee member of PCS Union and Chief Executive and founding member of the Ramadhan Foundation which is one of the UK's leading Muslim youth organisations.Church buildings have opened their doors and held public events for centuries; Choral Evensong, Classical concerts and in more recent times, Lego building and Crazy Golf. But this year, many cathedrals across the country are taking it a step further and hosting 80s, 90s and 00s themed ‘Silent Discos'. Canterbury Cathedral recently hosted two sold-out nights with an attendance of 3,000 people at £25 per ticket. But not everyone agrees. Some critics have questioned whether this is an ‘appropriate' use of sacred space, and a petition campaigning against the events has amassed over two thousand signatures. So what is an ‘appropriate' use of a sacred space? William Crawley speaks to the Dean of St Albans, Jo Kelly-Moore.Presenter: William Crawley Producers: Bara'atu Ibrahim and Linda Walker Production Coordinator: David Baguley Editor: Tim Pemberton
I'm back (finally) and I will be going over things that I have came across that I hate, which essentially is the heart of this podcast. As the world descends into some warped version of Dark City Idiocracy, Cyberpunk or rather just a hellscape; it is getting harder and harder to believe that any of this is true. What did we do to deserve to be in this three dimensional (3D) simulated nightmare? Dogs are being pushed in a stroller, people are dancing to music that only they can hear in public and instead of Tennis, we now have pickleball.. Yay! ...And the inversion of our world goes on and on and on until we realize this 3D prison might as well be Hell (or a Private Room on Air BNB with an obnoxious roommate) but in the meantime let's get a good laugh at it all

What are silent discos? Thanks for asking!I don't know about you but I sure miss partying the night away. In the age of social distancing, most of us can barely remember what it's like to be part of a crowd dancing together in a club. While we wait for life to slowly get back to how it was pre-Covid, you might be interested to know about another kind of party. Even your neighbours are unlikely to complain, seeing as there's no noise. We're talking about silent discos of course!Wait, you've lost me; how can you have a disco without music? So you can have several different kinds of music at the same party, can you? Doesn't it get a bit weird with everyone being in their own bubble? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions! To listen to the last episodes, you can click here:What is a QR code? What are the Paralympics? “So if you go for it and you have persistence and resilience and surround yourself with a tribe of people I think that either the short term or long term you will be successful.” Amani Robert, the Chief Musical Curator from The Amani Experience, knew for a long time that he wanted to become a DJ before actually starting his own business and pursuing his dream. In the meantime he finished school and joined Corporate America and worked for Marriott at many different locations. In Episode 85, all four of us finally got back together after a few weeks of different issues that kept the crew from getting together. Unfortunately, we had to go dark, last week. @TripTurlington has taken some time off for family responsibilities and David encountered some issues with Audacity while recording on vacation. Ultimately, while we hate it when it happens, we miss episodes from time to time. We hope it doesn't throw anyone's week off, too much. While we will continue to strive for the weekly release schedule, sometimes...life just happens. During the break, @Mo-Dingo attended a Silent Disco in our hometown. We've talked about these, before, and they're not a new concept, but it's a fairly new thing for our area, so we chat with Mo and talk about our perceptions and experiences with Silent Discos. April 1st, amidst all of the pranks, contained some truly sad news for the music community. Ikutaro Kakehashi, the founder of Roland and creator of the TR-808 passed away. We take a moment to honor the passing of the man who spawned a movement within electronic & sample-based instruments, as well as indirectly spawned several genres of music that we all enjoy, today, because of his inventions and innovation. And, lastly, as to the namesake of this episode, we discuss "Another Trip Around The Sun", the birthday party of our very own @Tony-DeSaro, which will feature none other than @SashaOfficial as the headliner. We ask Tony to dive in to a deep conversation about the party, from conception to execution, and every nitty-gritty detail in between. From all of us at PDJ to everyone at 3DMentional, congrats and good luck on what is sure to be a successful show! If you are able/willing to travel for, and would like to attend this show, please feel free to contact us here at Passionate DJ, and we will assist you in getting acquainted with where to stay and eat. :) https://www.facebook.com/events/413550768988235/

"Next to Burning Man itself this is one of the wildest parties on the planet. From the gigantic hangar packed with multiple sound areas, more than forty of the Bay Area’s finest DJs and performers, mind boggling art cars including the Unimog, two Silent Discos, and an enormous array of large-scale interactive artwork including an apocalyptic city with a giant flying saucer that did a live cow abduction, this was one party not to be missed. This year I was fortunate to be playing the main stage where the DJ booth was perched ontop of a massive wall of speakers over 15' tall by 25' wide! What better way to blow up an apocalyptic city than dropping some hard hitting bombs! So sit back and enjoy the ride!" - Sol If you want more check out DJ Sol's Ghetto Funk Decompression mix on his Soundcloud page: http://soundcloud.com/solsound/ghetto-decompression-mix www.spacecowboys.org Artwork by www.jempanufnik.com
