This month Bianca Censori, rapper Kanye West's wife, broke the internet after appearing on a red carpet in a transparent dress. Meanwhile, artists were upset about their life drawing class being moved in North London. This prompted a conversation about public nudity and by extension, nudism. Professor Annebella Pollen is from the University of Brighton and author of Nudism in a Cold Climate, she explains the history and significance of the nudism movement in the UK.
Several years ago, Nick and Lins decided to chuck it all and do what made them happy. And that was traveling around the world, exploring all the places for nudists to go and experience life. They've parlayed that love of naturism into a job, with a popular website, Patreon and YouTube page. William Welby was a quiet pioneer in the British naturist movement. With his ideas, he played a defining role in reframing nudism as a respectable, commonsense lifestyle. An advertising manager and writer in 1930s Britain, Welby approached naturism with a measured tone and structured arguments, packaging it as a logical, healthful way of living. Unlike some of his contemporaries, Welby's advocacy was subtle and thoughtful, more akin to a careful suggestion than an impassioned plea. Through his three books—Naked and Unashamed, The Naked Truth about Nudism, and It's Only Natural—Welby dismantled societal taboos around nudism, presenting it as a choice grounded in the simplicity of nature, health, and mental well-being.Read the original article at www(dot)planetnude(dot)co This is a public episode. In this episode we visit with Oaklake Trails members Bill and Nancy. Bill and Nancy are a retired military couple who met while they were both serving on active duty and are relatively new to nude recreation having visited their first resort almost 4 years to the day that this episode was recorded. Their journey to that first visit to a Nudist resort was much longer though. Through gentle persuasion and perseverance over a period of 10 years, Bill was able to help get Nancy to a point of giving it a try and after that first experience there was no looking back. Nancy shares how liberating that first experience was and Bill shares how it made him feel watching Nancy let go of a lifetime of negative body image and a negative self esteem. Bill and Nancy are two of the friendliest and most genuine people we have ever met. They are amazing ambassadors for Non Sexual Nude Recreation. By being so open and honest about their experiences and sharing them everywhere they go, they have helped countless people embrace the freedom that Nudism brings. Not long after I released my book, Nudism in a Cold Climate: The Visual Culture of Naturists in Mid-20th-Century Britain, a review feature appeared in the French newspaper, La Libération. Wittily subtitled ‘Tout Nus Mais Pas Bronzés' [‘Everybody is Nude, but Nobody is Tanned'], the 2022 article was accompanied by a monochrome 1948 photograph from the book, showing pale, white-skinned diners in a nudist club restaurant in the south of England.
Gary and Brenda are long time nudists and are two of the founding members of Oaklake Trails Naturist Park. In this episode you will hear about their entrance into Nudism starting in the early 1970's and how they became founding members of Oaklake Trails. They share the humble beginnings of Oaklake Trails, the growth and prosperity that hard work and dedication has brought about and some insight about handling the challenges faced by Nudists and clubs moving forward. Gary and Brenda could easily be described as modern day Nudist Pioneers. They are the last of the original founding members of Oaklake Trails. They didn't do it alone, but their vision, dedication, and literal blood sweat and tears laid the foundation that so many amazing and dedicated members and shareholders after them have used to build what we like to refer to as our "Happy Place". Thousands of people have experienced the freedom and benefits of nude recreation at Oaklake Trails because they, along with the other founding members, took a giant leap of faith and created a little slice of heaven on earth. Over the last 5 decades they have served, and continue to serve, on several AANR committees and boards. Our friendship with them is another example of how nudism bridges the generation gap and allows friendships to blossom that otherwise might not happen. We hope you enjoy our conversation with Gary and Brenda. Eva Grant was a former glamour model turned glamour photographer who photographed for nudist/naturist magazines postwar. She died on January 22nd, 2024, at age 98. I was intrigued by her when I researched my 2021 book, Nudism in a Cold Climate, as she represented one of a very small band of British women who worked as professional nude photographers. The fact that she made the move into the profession from the other side of the camera also added to her story. I found women's voices harder to locate than men's in the history of nudism in Britain, and in the history of nude photography. They tended to get spoken on behalf of, but Grant was an exception: she seized the means of production to develop her own photography business and she built her own publishing platform through which to show it.
More than just a lack of dress, nudism is a proposition of sorts. It invites you to abandon the dogma of a society that has handed down the long-held conservative mores of its parent generation—and their parents before them—all the way back to the birth of bodily shame, the Original Sin. This point in time and place is, by the way, impossible to tack down.

Jared and Stacie are some of our oldest friends at Oaklake Trails. They travel nearly 3 hours each way to enjoy everything that Social Nudity has to offer. Stacie is an example of the reluctant spouse/significant other. She went from NOPE NOT HAPPENING! to what she called a "surrender". Their story is similar to many couples we have met and that story is still being written as she has become another example, an example of how to Love the Skin You're In! Sit back and listen as they share their Nudism journey. Episode Links
In California's naturist communities, there's an ongoing struggle to preserve a culture under threat, with no less than four naturist clubs facing an impending or recent change of ownership. As residents at well-known naturist spots like Desert Sun Resort and DeAnza Springs Resort conflict with reluctant owners, and others like Olive Dell Ranch and Lupin Lodge face potential sales, a crucial question emerges: How can a culture of naturism be protected amidst these changes?
Nudists and naturists need allies beyond our community—supportive individuals, regardless of their attire, who are willing to advocate for us. We need to cultivate those communities among people we trust, and we need our national and regional organizations to do the same. We need not to gatekeep when people speak up on our behalf, and we need these relationships with the cultural and social majority to serve as a bulwark against retrogressive anti-nudity laws that are being and will be pursued across the country.

Jason and I bare it all for a candid discussion about nudity in vanilla life, pictures, the Lifestyle, and nudist resorts.
It all starts with that first step. Everybody who participates in Nudism/Naturism comes to it from a unique perspective. In this episode we dive deep into the journey to Body Acceptance through nudism and non sexual nude recreation taken by Nisey and Bill. Their stories are real and relatable. Though they have sad and traumatic experiences to share, they both grew from these experiences and have come to model their motto "Love the Skin You are In!". In this first of two episodes titled "Our Journey Begins" Nisey interviews Bill and he shares his discovery and embracing of Nudism and how it has effected his life. Content advisory: This episode contains discussions of suicidal ideations, verbal, emotional and sexual abuse. The language may be harsh at times but is not used for shock value but to truly convey the emotions felt by the hosts. Luz Del Fuego was a Brazilian feminist, performer, snake charmer, and naturist who rose to fame in the 1940s for her highly controversial nude dance performances. Born Dora Vivacqua in 1917, she later adopted the stage name Luz Del Fuego, inspired by an Argentinian lipstick brand. Luz Del Fuego was not only known for her unique beauty, but also for her intelligence, passionate spirit, and gumption. She was a controversial figure for her use of nudity in dance and activism, who used her fame as a platform to criticize political hypocrisy and advocate for social reform.
The history of organized nudism and naturism in Tennessee began much earlier than one might imagine. Nudists familiar with the state can likely identify Tennessee's trio of lodges: Timberline Lodge (1964 to 2003), Rock Haven Lodge (1969 to present), and Cherokee Lodge (1993-2014). But several nudist groups, some with unimproved camping areas, were operating in the state long before Timberline opened. This three-part written history, the first of its kind to our knowledge, explores the under-appreciated realm of Tennessee nudism, and uncovers the pioneering figures and significant groups that have decisively influenced the national nudism narrative, shedding new light on an often-overlooked aspect of American social history.
In this episode, we'll delve into the history of Canada's nudism movements. We'll hear the stories of various Canadian nudist leaders, and learn how two distinct regions found common ground and forged a cooperative partnership, their shared aim to represent Canadian naturists across Canada and internationally. And then we'll meet Petra Scheller, a woman whose relentless advocacy and effort in service of that union made her a face of Canadian naturism.Listen to all episodes of Naked Age at www.nakedage.coLinks* Federation of Canadian Naturists* Fédération Québécoise de Naturisme* International Naturist Federation* Bare Oaks Family Naturist Park* Nu, simplement: nudité, nudisme, et naturisme, by Michel VaïsThis episode of Naked Age was supported in part by an AANR Education Foundation Sponsorship Grant. The COVID-19 pandemic ushered in an unexpected shift in societal habits, one of which was a surge in the practice of home nudism, or domestic naturism. While being naked at home is nothing new, this basic practice—characterized by embracing comfort and freedom within one's home environment—has become a novel way for people to redefine their relationship with their bodies and their living spaces. For most, being nude is a passive, even furtive thing, but when done mindfully, domestic naturism can become a practice, not unlike yoga or meditation, that has the potential to enrich your health and happiness. But how does one begin this transformative journey?
EPISODE 007
Returning to my local nudist club after months away felt like coming back to a familiar sanctuary. Surrounded by familiar faces, warm greetings, and a sense of community, it revitalizes me. Accepted as I am, it's a place where I flourish and feel unburdened from the stress of the real world. Whenever I'm there and witness this vibrant community, I think of the ‘third place'—a term introduced by sociologist Ray Oldenburg in his 1989 book, "The Great Good Place."
A review of the film "Loin Des Yeux" directed by Nicolas Poirier. The film is a documentary project on naturism, focusing on the oldest naturist campground in Europe, CHM Montalivet in France. It explores the values and perspectives of naturists of different ages and backgrounds, highlighting the generational appeal of the naturist community. The podcast emphasizes that naturism goes beyond nudity, emphasizing respect for nature, peacefulness, and others. The film is praised for its authentic portrayal of the naturist community and serves as an introduction to the naturist idea for those unfamiliar with it.

Witness to Yesterday (The Champlain Society Podcast on Canadian History)
In this podcast episode, Simon Nantais talks to Mary-Ann Shantz about her book What Nudism Exposes: An Unconventional History of Postwar Canada published by The University of British Columbia Press in 2022. As nudism took root after World War II, its Canadian adherents advanced the idea that going nude and looking at other's bodies satisfied natural curiosity, loosened social taboos, and encouraged mental health. By the 1970s, nudists switched focus to promoting the pleasurable aspects of their practice. Mary-Ann Shantz contends that throughout the postwar decades, nudists sought social approval as they engaged with contemporary concerns about childrearing, pornography, and public nudity. What Nudism Exposes explains the movement's perspectives while questioning its assumptions, arguing that what nudism ultimately exposes is how the body sits at the intersection of nature and culture, the individual and the social, the private and the public. Mary-Ann completed her PhD in History from Carleton University and taught at McEwen University in Edmonton before becoming a researcher and a project coordinator with Covenant Health in Edmonton. She has contributed to the edited volume Contesting Bodies and Nation in Canadian History published by the University of Toronto Press. She has also published in Histoire Sociale/Social History and the Journal of the History of Childhood and Youth. This podcast was produced by Jessica Schmidt. In this episode of the podcast "Not Well", Bobby and Jim discuss their personal experiences with health issues, including the importance of getting regular blood work and addressing any concerns early on. They also discuss their preferences and limitations when it comes to sexual activity, with Bobby admitting that he doesn't have time for prolonged foreplay and prefers to get straight to the point. They share humorous anecdotes about bodily functions and the struggles of aging. Throughout the episode, they maintain their signature comedic banter and frank, unfiltered approach to discussing taboo topics. The conversation is quite scattered and covers a lot of topics. They discuss girls, the difficulties of dating in high school, public showers, the convenience of online shopping, a trip to a nude camp, and their views on nudity. The speaker also mentions their desire to make a mini-documentary about their experience at the camp, where they hope to challenge their body issues and become more comfortable with nudity. The speaker talks about their experience attending orgies and their preference for straight guys being present. They also express concern about the prevalence of cocaine and drug use at parties, and suggest that after parties should be banned. They advise single people to take time for themselves and enjoy their freedom.
