2025 re-run bonus notes: This rerun is releasing on the precise 5yr anniversary of its original release - in other words, this celebration of St. John's 40th birthday, featuring his wife, both his kids, both his parents, and his brother is re-releasing on St. John's 45th birthday! Also, it is the second of a trilogy of music blocks (the first of which was last month's rerun), which, if not already clear to long-time listeners of the show will be explained in the intro to the third track of the trilogy, which will be our March 2025 rerun. So stay tuned til next month's rerun! DISCLAIMER 1: DEAD-NAME ALERT! August is not their birth name, and this episode was recorded prior to their self-discovery, so it uses their birth/dead name. Because of this, I checked with August prior to releasing it to make sure they were okay with it. They said they were okay with it so long as I included the disclaimer - which I would've done anyway! :-D DISCLAIMER 2: Apologies for some of the off-color jokes and references in the blooper reel. I was not as far along in my personal transformation at the point this episode was released. There are things that made this blooper that would not have today. Therefore, please consider it a piece of history rather than an accurate representation of current perspectives. DISCLAIMER 3: the production value was much worse back in 2020. So if this is your first time hearing Nerd Noise Radio, please keep in mind that our production values have much improved in the time since. ----------------------------- Original (2020) Show Notes ----------------------------- Today's broadcast is C1E51 for Mishmash Monday, February 3rd, 2020. Revisiting Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door was an... interesting experience to say the least. In this episode, we're comparing and contrasting the music from the GameCube original and the new remake for the Nintendo Switch. But also... talking about self identity, media literacy and the way we connect about art together? Boy oh boy. ✉️ Send email or voicemail to bitharmonypod@gmail.com

I'm not joking when I say this mixtape has the goods. Treasure Castle from Socket features some really cool bells that ping pong back and forth in stereo. Tatsuyuki Maeda shows off the strengths of the Genesis' FM synth with an awesome track from J.League Pro Striker 2 that features snappy drums and funky bass, especially in the intro. This week we're going to see what this punchy fella's motives are, find out about his sketchy comic book family, and finally put rumor to rest about Michael Jackson's involvement with the development of Sonic 3 for Sega Genesis.----------------------------Jam, Who is it, Smooth Criminal, Blood On The Dance Floor, Stranger In MoscowLabel : EpicSongwriters : Michael Jackson, René Moore, Bruce Swedien, Teddy RileyAdditional writing by Heavy DHard TimesLabels : Pan American, FervorSongwriters: Bruce Connole, Damon Doiron, Brad Buxer, Steve GollodaySonic The Hedgehog 3Developer(s) : Sega Technical InstitutePublisher(s) : SegaComposer(s) : Brad Buxer, Sega Sound TeamSonic & KnucklesDeveloper(s) : Sega Technical InstitutePublisher(s) : SegaComposer(s) : Howard Drossin, Sachio Ogawa, Tatsuyuki Maeda, Jun SenoueSonic The HedgehogPublisher : Archie ComicsSega of AmericaWritten by : Ian Flynn, Ken Penders, Michael Gallagher, Dan Slott, Karl Bollers, Scott FulopThe D-PadOctober 2016A Brief History Of Michael Jackson's Sonic The HedgeHog 3https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Uko0fCp86c

The Last Rican's World of Anime and Video Game Music. And The Uematsuplex Podcast
In honor of Scott Hall, whom passed away two weeks ago I decided to have a matchup featuring tracks from games featuring our favorite bad guys/enemies. Bedroth, fresh off his win against The Messenger challenges Muddle Madness for the VGM Fight Club championship. Stay Tuned. Bedroth's tracks are first and Muddle's 2nd each round. Also forgot. A friend of mines works with under privileged kids in middle school. This is a collection of items for middle schoolers who are in need of supplies. The gift cards would be given to several of his students who are currently transient and sending themselves to school. This episode revs into December with a look at some of the best known and best loved vehicles in games! From the Blue Falcon to Bowser's airships and everything between, this was a topic that could easily have several broadcasts dedicated to it.Outside of planes, trains and automobiles, I take a step back from many of the show's regular features this week. As we approach 2021, I'm thinking of several ways I can reshuffle the format of The Sound Test; with one key word in mind - simplify. The features have been fun, but really we're all just here for great music. Due to not getting internet installed in my new home until August, I'm unable to stream LIVE shows until then! Instead, here's another remastered version of The Sound Test's second show of all time! This time, I speak an unbelievable amount of bollocks. There are parts of this episode that really make me cringe, but I think longtime listeners will enjoy hearing some of my naivety and growth as a VGM fan. Really, I was at the very beginning of my journey! In particular, I'm especially embarrassed about my totally misread pronunciation of "Clark Aboud" as "Clark Abound" - sorry Clark! Fortunately, after two interviews with the man himself, I think we're cool!Dale brings his usual unique perspective to the proceedings and, other than a few ignorant comments on my part, this is another great, relaxed evening with the two of us. All the chat aside, the playlist stays strong this week with a number of banging choices and odd gems side-by-side. However, it's worth mentioning that there are several tracks/games on this playlist that would later become repeated favourites of the show. Apologies for some of the replays!Previously, this episode was only available to patrons, but I've given it a clean up and posted it here ready for the usual stream time. Essentially, I've replaced the music with better quality rips and tweaked the volumes of our chat slightly. This week's playlist:C418 - Haunt Muskie [Minecraft]Norihiko Hibino & Cynthia Harrell - Snake Eater [Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater]Hirokazu Tanaka & Masato Kouda - Humoresque of a Little Dog [Super Smash Bros. What does a sunset sound like? This episode may well fail to answer that question, but what you might get anyway is the third installment in the (so far) trilogy of Singing Mountain episodes about driving music but drawn entirely from non-racing, non-driving games. Shariq Ansari, also known as Darkesword, is one of the top minds at OverClocked ReMix and, as it turns out, a professor of Sonic the Hedgehog music trivia. He tells of tales of ReMix tournaments and last minute music production crunches before pondering how we've all changed as humans beings-- at least so far as music is concerned. To hear what he (and we) have to say, all one must do is tune in!Want to learn more about Shariq and his endeavors? Follow him on Twitter and check out OverClocked ReMix!This week's Open Question: "How have your music tastes changed over the years-- or have they?"How did you like this episode? If the answer is "lots" then consider following Train Station at 8 on Twitter, subscribing on iTunes, or maybe sending an email to TrainStationAt8@gmail.com. GOTTA GO FAST! Ever since stepping into the battle against injustice, Sonic has been the champion of peace and is renowned the world over for saving it countless times. During his many adventures, Sonic has traveled from the ends of the world to the far reaches of space and time, while facing countless trials that have tested him to the fullest, earning him many titles, allies and the scorns of several foes. Well-known for his legendary cocky attitude, easy-going demeanor and somewhat short temper, yet strong sense of justice, compassion, heart of gold and love for freedom and adventure, Sonic uses his abilities to protect the innocent from his world and those beyond from the forces of evil, especially his arch-nemesis Dr. Eggman (originally Introduced as Dr. Robotnick) , who constantly seeks world domination. Although at this moment, the name has brought many frowns and feelings of false hope to his followers as of late, this podcast is to remember the good music that this franchise has brought to us through the years and remember how amazing this franchise really is.
