Taylor Barton was nominated as a Beck's Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the court and field. What she loves most about high school sports is participating as a part of a team where she can work alongside other people who have the same goals as her. She also enjoys teaching and working with the young athletes in her community through camps and youth leagues. Taylor is a member of the varsity softball and volleyball teams as well as captain for both teams. She is an active member of her FFA chapter where she competes on the livestock judging team. She is also a member of the East Clinton National Honor Society where she holds the officer position of historian. Outside of school, Taylor is a member of the Final Drive 4-H club and has participated in the Deans Charity Steer Show at the Ohio State Fair. Her celebrity team and she partnered with Ohio State University and Ronald McDonald House Charities to raise over $17,000. To Taylor, agriculture is the heart of civilization. Without it, humans could not survive. The agricultural community has made her who she is today. It has taught her many lessons in hard work, determination, teamwork, leadership, reliability, responsibility, respect, kindness, and love. It has also taught her how to take care of her animals, other humans, the environment, and the land she has been given. Taylor plans on applying to the Southern State Community College nursing program this winter. After receiving her RN license, she hopes to enroll in a BSN program. She also wishes to continue improving her show cattle breeding herd as well as her involvement in the family farming operation and the agricultural community. Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of Interviewing the Legends I'm your host Ray Shasho. One of the most in demand blues / rock guitarists in the world is a mysterious character who goes by the name of G.E. Smith. Millions of TV viewers know his face-and the shock of unruly blond ponytail that was always falling across it-from his tenure stint of fronting the Saturday Night Live Band. Smith was hired to play lead guitar for Hall and Oates, he stayed for six years (1979-1985) constantly touring and recording with them, racking up hit after hit. Smith toured for almost four years with the legendary Bob Dylan. Smith was also honored to be the musical director for special events such as the 1988 Emmy Awards, the 1993 Rhythm and Blues Foundation Awards and the Bob Dylan 30th Anniversary Concert at Madison Square Garden. The latter event was another of those “fantasy situations” that G.E. keeps getting involved in. “The rehearsals for that Dylan concert you wouldn't believe. I was rehearsing with George Harrison in the morning, Eric Clapton in the afternoon, and Lou Reed at night. One afternoon, rehearsing the finale, I had Harrison, Tom Petty, Clapton, Neil Young, Dylan and Roger McGuinn all lined up. GE also joined Roger Waters 2010 WALL LIVE toured the world three times and toured with him for seven years. In 2015, GE returned to SNL where he received an EMMY award as bandleader, for the 40th SNL anniversary special. In 2015, GE and wife, Taylor Barton, started an exciting project called PORTRAITS, which hosts a rotating roster of acclaimed musicians and artists from all realms for a deeper look at what drives them creatively. In this latest episode of Dawgman Radio, Kim Grinolds talked to the man who once used to live on Chicken Dinner Road in Caldwell, Idaho - Cody Pickett. Pickett, best known as the quarterback who backed up Marques Tuiasosopo on the 2000 Rose Bowl-winning team, as well as putting together the greatest passing season ever for a UW quarterback (4,458 yards in 2002), is now back in Idaho. He spoke with Grinolds about his time as the women's basketball coach at Eagle High School (another suburb of Boise), winning a state championship, and transitioning to becoming Eagle's men's basketball coach. Would he consider doing anything with their football team? As a true two-sport athlete out of Caldwell, Pickett talked about the pick-up games they had at the IMA, including his take on Nate Robinson and what he was also able to do as a two-sport star at UW. Then they went back to when Pickett was getting recruited out of Caldwell High School, the schools involved, how he eventually picked the Huskies, and the transition from getting recruited by Jim Lambright and his staff to when Rick Neuheisel was hired and re-committing to his new staff. Pickett spoke on the quarterback room he walked into, including playing with Marques Tuiasosopo and Taylor Barton, as well as his relationship with all-world receiver Reggie Williams. They talked about games Pickett remembers like they were played yesterday - the 2001 Rose Bowl, getting hurt against USC the next year, and especially the Apple Cups. His last pass as a Husky was a touchdown to Corey Williams at Husky Stadium to beat the No. 8 Cougars in 2003. Grinolds then went rapid-fire with Pickett for his take on some of his former UW teammates: Pat Conniff, Anthony Kelley, Willie Hurst, Kai Ellis, Jeremiah Pharms, Elliot Silvers, Marquis Cooper, Jimmy Newell, Matt Rogers, Marques Tuiasosopo, Rich Alexis, and Reggie Williams. Remember when 'Cody to Reggie' was a thing? Pickett talked about those times. And was it more important to him to beat Oregon or Washington State? Cody gave his thoughts on that topic as he never lost once to the Ducks or Cougars. Has Cody kept tabs with the Huskies nowadays? As an Idaho native, Pickett talked about Chris Petersen, what he was able to do at UW, and what he thinks the future of the Huskies could be under Jimmy Lake. Learn more about your ad choices. It's been 729 days since Jacob Eason last stepped out onto a football field to start a competitive game. It was September 2nd, and the Georgia Bulldogs were playing the Appalachian State Mountaineers. He started out a little slow, going 1-3 for 4 yards, but then suffered a knee sprain that would alter the trajectory of his college football career. In stepped Jake Fromm, who led the Bulldogs to the National Championship Game, where they lost to Alabama in overtime. Eason decided to leave Georgia and move back to Washington, his home state. The Lake Stevens native was in front of plenty of friends and family, as well as Washington fans wondering what a couple of years of ring rust would look like for Eason, as he started UW's season-opener against Eastern Washington on Saturday afternoon. All the junior did was throw for 349 yards - a UW record for most yards in a starting debut, beating out Taylor Barton's record of 316 yards at UCLA in 2001. He also threw for four touchdowns, a personal best. All things considered, it was a pretty solid first outing in the Purple and Gold for Eason. If you missed it the first time, here's the post-game audio of Eason talking to the media, where he was asked about his play, how comfortable he felt getting back out on the field in a competitive situation, his favorite plays, the play of backup center Matteo Mele, who came in for Nick Harris after Harris went down with a leg injury in the first quarter, what he was planning to do to celebrate after the game, and a lot more. Looking forward to talking about music, with lots of fun anecdotes, but also about health and self-care — a road that many of us don't discover until we realize that we're not 10-feet-tall and bulletproof (usually after 50!).
