KILL DEVIL HILL guitarist Mark Zavon and OCTOBER NOIR frontman Tom Noir join us on this week's edition of The Loaded Radio Podcast KILL DEVIL HILL is set to unveil its third album, "Seas Of Oblivion," on September 20th. This LP, meticulously crafted by engineer Chris Collier, who handled production, engineering, mixing, and mastering duties, seamlessly blends classic hard rock with elements of metal. The result is a musical journey that bridges the gap between contemporary and classic metal, reminiscent of iconic bands like SOUNDGARDEN and ALICE IN CHAINS. With "Seas Of Oblivion," KILL DEVIL HILL demonstrates its versatility, fearlessly experimenting with various styles, and pushing the boundaries of expectations to deliver a fresh and exhilarating experience for their devoted fans. Prior to the album's release, KILL DEVIL HILL has already treated fans to a taste of what's to come with the launch of four singles: "Playing With Fire," "Blood In The Water," "You Can't Kill Me California," and "Before The Devil Knows." Formed in 2011 by legendary drummer Vinny Appice (formerly of BLACK SABBATH and DIO) and bassist Rex Brown (PANTERA), KILL DEVIL HILL has undergone a couple of lineup changes, yet continues with a pummeling vengeance. The band's current roster includes Johnny Kelly (formerly of TYPE O NEGATIVE) on drums, Zavon on guitar, Dewey Bragg on vocals, and Matt Snell (formerly of FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH) on bass. In the podcast, Mark discusses the evolution of KILL DEVIL HILL, the band's new additions, his love for Wolfgang Van Halen and much more. Hailing from Pensacola, Florida, OCTOBER NOIR emerged onto the music scene in 2016 as a gothic/doom metal ensemble. Since their inception, they have crafted and shared their unique sonic vision through three full-length albums and an impressive collection of nine stand-alone singles. The brainchild of Tom Noir, OCTOBER NOIR was conceived in late 2016, and their inaugural album, "The Haunting and the Powerful," saw the light of day on October 19, 2017. Following the album's release, Tom Noir welcomed talented musicians into the fold for their live performances. Drummer Daniel "Stickz" Bryant, guitarist Troy Lambert, and keyboardist Jackie "Jaxxx" Daniel added depth and energy to the band's live shows. In 2018, OCTOBER NOIR expanded their repertoire by releasing two remarkable singles, both of which were captivating covers. "Pictures of Matchstick Men (RIPeter)," a reinterpretation of the classic by STATUS QUO and TYPE O NEGATIVE, graced listeners' ears on April 14, 2018. Subsequently, on July 5, 2018, they offered their rendition of "Lips like Sugar," originally by ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN, showcasing their versatility and creative prowess. In the second portion of the podcast, Tom discusses the band's influence, the new album "Letters To Existence", his use of torture devices and more. Sitting in front of the computer, thinking about what I should write about for this week's EMN Round-Up, I put on one of my favorite Jazz albums, Miles and Monk, at Newport Live 1958. This LP is an essential listen for everyone alive today! Jazz, in essence, is a group of very talented musicians, each a master of their instrument, coming together; they may have a set list, or they may not. They play off each other's strengths, and somehow, without any sheet music or a conductor, they produce a fantastic piece of music. (If you don't like jazz, you can find the same type of collaborations with the Grateful Dead or Phish.) Jazz music can teach us much about disaster response, as both involve improvisation, collaboration, and adaptation to changing circumstances. Here are a few ways in which jazz music can inform disaster response:Links https://emnmedia.com/https://emnetwork.substack.com/ Get full access to The Emergency Management Network at emnetwork.substack.com/subscribe

Philadelphia Rockers SORAIA lead singer ZouZou joins STRIKE A CHORD to celebrate their new album Bloom (2022) in both digital streaming and collector's vinyl edition. Bloom was released on Friday October 28th, 2022 and featured LIVE on our show. The last album SORAIA produced was in 2019. This new release explodes from the pressure building up from the last 3 years of not screaming on stage! Lead singer ZouZou recalls the hurdles of getting this record to the studio—but it was worth it. This LP is powerful and passionate—"It's the beginning of another great cycle of our career. We're very excited. We've waited a long time for this one in particular.” AND Steven Van Zandt under Wicked Cool Records is IN on this band! What's the success of your magic? The band's latest single “Tight Lipped” is blowing up the charts! “I think you just persevere in anything you do… if you really want it… you don't stop.” “I Seek Fire” OR should we all take the slow road to love? This track makes you think twice about dating apps. Falling in love is all about chemistry. Taking a shared risk in love is not easy. It should happen organically—BUT can we fight our biology? THE "LET'S LISTEN" VAPORWAVE PODCAST. Vaporwave is an art aesthetic that embodies the anxiety, disillusionment, and nihilism of the modern world. In music form, vaporwave dives deep into these unconscious anxieties, manifesting sounds from past decades - warping them, manipulating them, and summoning the ghost of the good times that were promised by modern capitalism, but never came. Vaporwave is an expression of the pains of the collective modern unconscious, taking the form of heroin-level escapism, ecstasy-inducing pop music, or dystopian ambient worlds. Because of its internet-based nature, its aesthetics have evolved so rapidly, further reflecting the chaotic subconscious of the modern mind.Vaporwave captures the modern unconscious of humans raised by the internet succinctly, and understanding this art form matters. In each episode, we listen to tracks that make up genre and give our thoughts, analysis, emotions, and commentary on them. Let's set sail on the Virtual Ocean. And now, for today’s episode. What is up with the nostalgia around pre-9/11 cities? See-Muh Vanity, aka Dead Dream Vanity, explores this idea in the 2014 proto-ish vaporware album “fantasy Mayonaka Noapāto “, aka fantasy Midnight Apartment This record dropped during the early days of vaporwave, where the method of manipulating old samples to create something moody and dark started popping up all over the internet. This LP will engulf your entire body in the comfort of a leather couch stuffed with clouds. While you lay in its luxury, you begin to realize that the ideal city that this album takes you back to doesn’t exist. It never did.Let’s set sail for Dead Dream Vanity’s Fantasy Midnight Apartment.

After almost 5 years of releases, parties, and connections made across the world, CV felt like it was time for a change. Their latest full-length offering is from Oliver Moir (FKA Flora Tucker, AKA Sandman). This LP is left-field. Take, for instance, the LP's title ‘ Rocked Till the Midnight Hour at Melissa's Bat Mizvah. Brilliant. The 8-track ambient LP is a glowing excursion through Moir's perception of the world, as the album hums across vast plateaus, gently weaving in and out of endlessly complex pads, and into the pliant ears of listeners. Bomphcast / Bomphcast Audio · Premiere: Oliver Moir – Easy Now Girl, Come On Now Girl (Connection Verified – CVR XIX) The focus of this premier is Oliver's Easy Now Girl, Come On Now Girl. This synth-heavy track fills you with warmth. As the track plays out, introspection sets in. The tune would be perfect to open or close a DJ set. The LP is a departure from the old CV. To me, Oliver's work signifies the labels new direction. You can buy Rocked Till the Midnight Hour at Melissa's Bat Mizvah via CV's Bandcamp page.

The Virtual Ocean is the “Let’s Listen” vaporwave discovery podcast. What is vaporwave?Vaporwave is a music genre (and internet meme) that appropriates mood music from the past while presenting subtle takes on modern-day consumerist culture. The genre has drawn many passionate listeners with its powerful immersion, ambiguous commentaries, and the genre's unique ability to amalgamate with the memes created as its byproduct. It's a genre with several subgenres that are extremely distinct from one another in sound and style; and yet evoke similar archetypal ideas that say, either explicitly or implicitly, a lot about the modern world. It's also very, very, aesthetic. In each episode, we listen to tracks that make up genre and give our thoughts, emotions, and commentary on them.Vaportrap. The beautiful marriage between the chill, ambient vibes of vaporwave and the power and kinetics of trap music. But now, for today’s episode. In this episode, we explore the work of Italian vaporwave artist Quadratox. This album is one of EIGHTY projects released by Quadratox under the Business Casual vaporwave label. This LP has by far THE most range than any album we’ve covered ever.Ever wonder what an acoustic ballad sounds like with a vaporwave tinge? What about eurotrap? How about industrial and METAL? Quadratox displays an impressive range and sticks the landing on most of it.Ready to hear what it sounds like?Let’s go atomic and set sail into the mind of Quadratox’s 1995.
Toy Trucks kick of the show this week for a Wax Time Special where Richard plays 3 tracks from direct off the vinyl. Further to this, Richard has the pleasure of being in conversation with Jeremy Scott, lead singer and guitarist with The Toy Trucks. Jeremy is a likeable and laid back gent who effortlessly lets the conversation roll about the band. Richard is also curating New Music this week, bringing back Sports Team to the show. The Jaggeresque Alex Rice reminds us why guitar bands work. Excellent music and lyrical jokers Sports Team make a welcome return to form and impress the hell out of Tobin. Speaking of whom, he brings us Meg Myers with her high-school indie rocker Lemon Eyes. It's easy to get lost in its crashing guitar sounds. And Tobin is indeed master of sounds this week. He brings us some Cool Sounds straight out of Australia. Cool Sounds' latest LP is a massive hit with us here at Record Box HQ. Richard has been intermittently spinning this with Rockets, Bells and Poetry all week. All that's left is Tobin's Double Record Box Classic - it's his Nana exclusive 2-track playlist. It's the infectious sample-based early 90s classic by Chad Jackson and then something as suggested by his Grandmother. The Benny Goodman Orchestra featuring Peggy Lee remind us where pop music really started. Let's dive in. Track Listing Don't Be So Easy The Toy Trucks Lemon Eyes Meg Myers Captain Remo The Toy Trucks Fishing Sports Team Hear The Drummer (Get Wicked) Chad Jackson Why Don't You Do It Right Benny Goodman & His Orchestra feat. Peggy Lee Around And Down Cool Sounds Show You Love The Toy Trucks The Toy Trucks - as described by their label Here's what Black & Wyatt Records, Memphis-based record label has to say about The Toy Trucks: The Toy Trucks are collectively 180+ years old. They are fueled by equal parts cheap beer, cheap thrills and Cheap Trick. Over the band’s multi-year existence, songwriter/leader Jeremy Scott has developed an “anything but another crappy love song” ethos. This has resulted in the songs on the band’s first full-length, Rockets Bells and Poetry. (“We stole the title from Mama Cass Elliott,” Scott explains.) Over the course of said album, the band prove conversant with, among other things, Rascals-like blue-eyed grooves (Don’t Be So Easy. Along with grisly true crime balladry (57 Bayview), updated Del Shannonesque psychodrama (Hot Tears). And there's honest flat out rock and roll (I’m on the Dish But I Ain’t No Rag). This LP is both a stand-alone statement and a teaser for the band’s revved up live show. Rockets Bells and Poetry should satisfy anyone’s rock/garage/power-pop itch quite nicely. The Toy Trucks deliver stomping pop flavours on debut platter The Memphis Flyer Further praise from The Memphis Flyer Jeremy Scott is familiar to any fan of Memphis music. He has played in the original Reigning Sound and groups backing Harlan T. Bobo and Dan Montgomery. Although his ensemble playing reveals a fine sense of playing at the service of the song, it's barely offered a glimpse of his songwriting talents. For a time, he led the Wallendas, which also included longtime guitar ace Jim Duckworth, but that was ancient history in pop terms, and never resulted in a full length release. Nonetheless, as Scott's Sunday night DJ slot on WEVL makes clear, he is steeped in the history of pop and rock, old and new, and something was bound to come of it. Now, with his band The Toy Trucks making their debut, rockets bells and poetry (Black & Wyatt), we can finally hear all that cumulative experience blossom into some fine material. Read the full article Memphis combo The Toy Trucks... Led by ex-Reigning Sound member Jeremy Scott, the group — which also includes guitarist Dylan Cranmer, bassist Ryno Hanson and drummer Steve Barnat — have crafted a killer full-length debut for the local Black and Wyatt label that bears the influence of everything from Del Shannon to the Rascals, from garage to punk to power pop and beyond. Commercial Appeal FTBOTRB review of Rockets, Bells and Poetry Visceral. Well, you have been warned in the opening track that there is a distinct possibility you may get disemboweled. It's a raucous and driven way to open this excellent LP from the Memphis circuit's cheap beer driven rockers. However, you're in for quite a ride with Rockets, Bells and Poetry, it's not all balls out rocking. There's the self-effacing heart string plucker Show You Love which plays out the show this week. The whole sound of this LP is one of transition and exploration. The quite carnival-like C D B gives way to the anthemic Hot Tears without so much as a warning. Despite band leader Jeremy Scott professing the band is past its sell by date this recording is much more than that. Its freshness belies Jeremy's statement and one can only wonder how much that tongue in cheek comment actually influences the bands' sound. It is boyish, scruffy and offers more than an occasional sense of childlike wonderment. Much can be learnt from a few listens of this new offering from The Toy Trucks, such as punk glockenspiel. You may never have been touched by it before, but from now on you'll never be untouched. Excellent and rewarding music from past-it rockers who are only just beginning their journey. FTBOTRB official verdict: essential listening.

From the 1950s through the 1970s, it was common for large corporations to stage elaborate theatrical productions celebrating their business and products, often referred to as "industrial musicals." Follow Some Science > https://soundcloud.com/somescience Follow the Record Label, ILogic > https://soundcloud.com/ilogic_label / www.facebook.com/ilogiclabel/ Ilogic is an electronic music record label based in Spain. We bet on new talents, emergence and established artist in the international music scene. Our musical identity is all electronic music with strong personality and powerful sound. The Universe of Gödel by Some Science "Relativity is correct, while time, is an illusion" this is the claim for this LP, the first work from Some Science; a techno music duo based in Madrid / Berlin. His unique approach to the studio and his vision of techno music make this duo a safe bet for electronic music. His creations talk about music from inside part, rethinking the relationships between people and sound, ensuring an illusory connection with the real world and facilitating access to parallel universes. The Universe of Gödel is a dark techno LP with lines of fast arpeggios and powerful bass. A not very complicated musical line with pads and melodies easy to understand , all built under a pure and real sound. From the machines directly to the dancefloor , a big sound whith the best techno taste . This LP is dialogue between the machines, the human mind and mathematics.Three fundamental elements to understand this LP
For this 25th episode, I wanted to do something special for all you listeners and at the same time pay homage to one of Florida's best south seas Polynesian tiki tourist attractions. I'm referring to a place where every element was Polynesian themed. Some of the attractions on the roster included: • Polynesian Garden • Peacocks Villa • a Jungle Trail • Tiki Lagoon • Monkey Village • The Garden Wedding Chapel • Fire Mountain • Bird Tower • Trader Franks "Polynesian" restaurant • and 8 gift shops that offered souvenirs and treasures from the south seas and beyond I'm sure many of you already know the place I've just described. But for those of you who don't, I'd like to introduce you to "Tiki Gardens". Tiki Gardens was a South Seas Polynesian theme park located in Indian Shores, Florida. In 1962, "Trader" Frank and "Wahine"Jo Byars opened a small garden (about four acres) that was adjacent to their Signal House Gift shop. Unfortunately in 1963 the gift shop burned down but within one year, Frank and Jo were able to rebuild, expand and reopen the attraction. And By 1969 "Tiki Gardens" expanded to a 12 acre tourist attraction making it a favorite for guests of all ages. Now, Sadly in 1986, the Byars sold "Tiki Gardens" to a developer who planned to build a hotel on the large property but it never came to be and eventually the land was turned into a public beach access parking lot. Luckily for us, there was a souvenir LP record produced that included an audio journey of "Tiki Gardens". This LP was titled "Exotic Sounds from Tiki Gardens" and it features the song "Polynesian Fantasy", which your hearing in the background. For this special 25th episode, "Tiki Gardens" will be open again for business, at least in our imaginations on Exotic Tiki Island. Join me now as I play host and MC to this wonderful Polynesian attraction from yesteryear and share with you the Exotic Sounds of Tiki Gardens.
