What devilry is this? It's a podcast, once in which we're wading in rebirth, boasting the brain of a dullard, fighting an old foe who died but didn't, indulging in gratuity, interrupting pervert preparation, hanging a bag of teeth, refusing to acknowledge death, unpossessing numen, thinking of our sire's flesh, becoming a blood member of darkness, wondering if stones can pervert perverts, and recruiting someone to kill their father. Ere long you shall know darkness deeper still. 00:00 Rebirth | 04:09 Intro | 05:55 Return of the Gath | 19:19 Limberry Castle Undercroft | 36:18 Undercroft, Post Zalera | 43:52 Real Net | 49:01 Outro Patreon: patreon.com/retroam Twitter: @retroamnesiapod YouTube: www.youtube.com/@RetrogradeAmnesia E-Mail: podcast@retrogradeamnesia.com Website: www.retrogradeamnesia.com

Episode 259 features Man Must Explore from Albany, NY. They are an alt-rock band who has been releasing music since 2021. In the interview, I spoke with Ryan & Thomas. They will be in town playing a show at The Undercroft in Baltimore this Thursday, April 4th, and we (The Hollow Truths) will be joining them on the bill as well as New Clarity & Makeup Girl. So, I wanted to get the guys on the show to talk about that, as well as their music in general. It was a fun conversation; we covered all the usual working musician topics, as well as a few other random things, such as our ideas on songwriting, our theories on Syd Barrett and Pink Floyd, and the importance of art in the modern age. The band name is taken from the words spoken by astronaut David Scott on the Apollo 15 mission: 'I sort of realize there's a fundamental truth to our nature, Man Must Explore, and this is exploration at its greatest.' I featured the tracks 'Rx' and 'Tsunami'. If you like either of them, you can find Man Must Explore on all the streaming and social media platforms. Welcome to Faith at the Fringe a Sanctuary First podcast series. For our First Episode of the second season for 2023 we will be Speaking to Faith Sutherland from Green Shoots Youth Theatre. Find the show via the Sacred Arts Festival at St Vincent's Chapel in Stockbridge. Five Medieval Mystery plays brought to life by Peter Holloway. The newly formed Green Shoots Youth Theatre, under the direction of Faith Sutherland, transform the atmospheric Undercroft of the Chapel into a compelling urban location for drama. Noah, a tale of climate change, the refugees Flight into Egypt, The Whistle-blower's Jesus' last days and the Resurrection, with warmth, humour and humanity. Real people in real situations, the reality of life in our world in 2023. The Medieval Mystery Plays were the soaps of their day; they were warm, funny, but with a serious mission – to bring to life Biblical stories. We have reimagined them for our time, making our point about the topics that concern us: climate change, refugees, war, and the joy of New Life.

I am delighted to be joined by Richard Meyer, Director for Flourish & Blue Strawberry Group for this episode of One Amazing Experience. Blue Strawberry, previous winners of FSM Event Caterers of the Year, have been operating for over 30 years, are listed at some of London's most prestigious venues and have provided catering and event management services from high level corporate events to Royal weddings. Flourish is their new venture providing in-house catering solutions to the corporate environment. Richard has over 20 years' experience in events and hospitality management. His career started working as a Lodge Manager on a game reserve in South Africa and, since moving to the UK, has seen him continue to work at some of the most awe inspiring venues in the UK. He has worked for both independent operators and large market leading conglomerates capturing great learnings from both. While his career has developed, and his role gained ever more responsibility, Richard has never lost his love of providing an exceptional hospitality experience for guests and, most importantly, his sense of fun. And his own event would most definitely be fun: set in the stunning surroundings of Hampton Court Palace Richard treats his guests to a beautiful dinner in the regal 16th century Great Hall. Richard will be serving guest Smoked Mackerel Paté , Roast Venison and a wonderful selection of cheeses. Michael McIntyre will be on hand to entertain guests and then, by special request from Richard, the cheesiest disco possible will be had in the Undercroft. Richard talks through the important lessons he has learnt over the years from taking time to evaluate a situation, to understanding the different needs of the business you are in and the clients you are servicing, and enjoying the challenges in front of you. He discusses the importance of keeping control and how, when working for independent caterers, there is the ability to give that extra personal service. He discusses the many influences on his success from Molly Roland, Sarah Hammond, Bill Toner and Stuart Jenkins all adding to his business management skills and client understanding. Richard is a true ambassador for the Events & Hospitality industry, the diverse experiences and career growth it gives and most importantly the fun can be had (especially when, like him, embarrassment is not an issue).
The Southbank Undercroft is a space under the Queen Elizabeth Hall of the Southbank Centre that has been a very popular with skateboarders and graffiti artists for over four decades. The Undercroft was completed in the 1960s and became popular with skateboarders in the 1970s. Over the years it has been covered and re-covered in graffiti and contains work created by thousands of artists over the years. The history of the Undercroft was made famous by Winston Whitter's documentary Rollin Through the Decades (2005) which focused on the history of UK skateboarding from the 1970s to the mid-2000s. In 2013, the planned redevelopment of the area endangered the Undercroft but skaters and local enthusiasts campaigned and fought to safeguard the site, through the non-profit organisation Long Live Southbank (LLSB), and won.

About the Show: On this episode of the podcast, we sit down with Chef Matt Cooper from The Preachers Son in Bentonville, AR. Originally from Arkansas and an actual Preachers Son, Chef Matt spent time on the West Coast in Oregon where he attended culinary school and then made his way back to The Natural State spending time in the Little Rock area and then coming here to NWA. Chef Matt has run a number of successful restaurants and The Preachers Son is no different. We spend time discussing his role as Executive Chef and his relationship with Ropeswing Group which is the restaurant group that runs The Preachers Son, Press Room, Undercroft, Record, The Holler, and Louise. Chef Matt made it a point to mention the importance of his staff which is more like family. He talked about creating a nurturing environment for the restaurant which benefits all who work there, plays a part in the preparation of great food, and ultimately leads to a great dining experience. The Preachers Son is a Farm to Table restaurant. Chef Matt works with a wide variety of local farms and the freshness and variety of items on the menu shows. The cool aspect of this type of approach is that they continually change the menu and there is always something new to try out. Finally, Chef Matt is Celiac and the fact that his food is so good and gluten-free is a testament to the possibility of high quality food preparation and meals especially for those with significant food allergies or auto-immune diseases. We had a chance to visit a few weeks prior to our interview and were blown away by the entrees and appetizers that everyone at our table shared. We took some pictures of our meal and a copy of the menu to share with our listeners. If you are up in Bentonville near the Square you owe it to yourself to visit The Preachers Son. Chef Matt and his team will make it an unforgettable experience. When you do go please tell them that you heard about Chef Matt and his restaurant on IamNorthwestArkansas.com. Bon Appetite! Today's Topic – Many topics one episode So we have done several episodes recently about individual questions from members of the undercroft. Full episode info and Show Notes: www.wearelookingsideways.com What kind of city do we want to live in? It’s a fundamental question, particularly today, when urban spaces are becoming ever more homogenised and commodified. And it’s why the Long Live Southbank campaign, created to protect one of London’s most culturally important skate spots, struck such a chord. Skateboarders have been using the Undercroft on London’s Southbank since the mid 1970s. In that time, it has become one of THE flagship skate spots in the world. As the years have passed, it has also become an increasingly lonely flag-waver for the type of none-corporate culture that is becoming ever rarer in London and around the world. So when in 2013 the Southbank Centre, who own the space, put forward a planning application to redevelop the site and shift the skaters to a purpose-built spot under nearby Hungerford Bridge, local skaters mobilised. The result was Long Live Southbank, a hugely sophisticated and impressive grassroots campaign that succeeded in saving the Undercroft, and opening the wider world’s eyes to cultural importance of this legendary space. In March 2018, I headed up the Undercroft to meet Stu McClure of Long Live Southbank and find out exactly how they did it. The result is my first Looking Sideways conversation about a spot rather than an individual, and about the cultural importance of spots in our community and scene. The way we look at terrain, whether natural or urban, is one of the key things that sets the sideways culture apart from the mainstream, and in the case of Southbank, and the battle that has been fought over it’s future, this is one such occasion when that key difference, that cultural marker, has become a flashpoint, a battleground and a line in the sand. A brilliant tale this one, one with many themes with relevance that go way beyond skateboarding, as important to this story as that it. It is about Southbank the spot, of course, but it’s also about positive activism, the importance of cooperation over conflict, and who gets to write the cultural history of a city. Hats off to Long Live Southbank for the positive, forward-thinking campaign, and for coming on the show. Hope everyone enjoys it! As usual, thanks to Scott Nixon (www.scottnixon.co.uk) for post-production help and Matt Ward (www.linguistine.com) for the theme tune.
In the first episode of the new year we take a field trip into the unknown. The Undercroft is a series of rooms located beneath my local train station, so I decided to take part in a supernatural investigation alongside some specialists. Here there be grisly tales, bumps in the night, scepticism and strange occurances. So join me, a pair of excitable hosts, a medium named Steve and a group of deaf ladies as we head underground in search of ghosts.
