    everyone said 'sales are down' and I had one of my best months yet!

    I've just come back from a massive summer of selling, and it was helped by two things:   (1) I got married and took a week off, so I had to do more in less time to be fully present at my wedding; and,   (2) everyone was reporting 'sales are down, sales are down' but people were looking to me for how to make sales.   It's a topic no one wants to get into publicly but behind the scenes, soooo many of my client calls are about turning on sales in online businesses.   So, I didn't even really have the answer. I mean, I did - I know how to sell and what it takes but it felt like this summer, something else was needed...something a little more extra haha.   I reminded myself of two laws that have always served me:   (1) I never got more by doing less - so do more Lisa: explosive action, explosive energy, explosive service; and,   (2) If I put myself out there fully - in heart and spirit and honesty - I would be supported and good things would happen: so turn up and serve Lisa. Go be useful to future clients!   So, I cranked up the content. But, because I didn't have time to get all my gear out, film, edit and produce, I just filmed stuff live and then reposted that content.   I uploaded an Instagram live, called ‘how to make sales over summer' (you might have seen it as '100 sales attempts'), to YouTube and to Facebook and my podcast and my site and then emailed it to everyone too.   Then I got clever and spent £100 on ads boosting it to strangers who are most like my current audience and it reached another 60,000 people.   That was pretty cool.   I sent mailers off the cuff, which I typed on my phone...at the gym or on a dog walk.   I made more content for social, scheduled it and sent it. But it wasn't all Reels for reach. It was stuff I knew my small, current community would see and like. A lot of it came from membership content, insights from client calls and clips from the live I did.   I said yes to speaking at a rather large summer summit (shout out to Jacky who turned up BIG over summer!), even though I really didn't have the time lol. And I announced a new webinar called ‘Mentor Vibes', which I made the slides for the day before (because it was literally all so new!) and filmed it live with everyone on the call.   I also finished my '£99 marketing to sell' course, which gave me the perfect 'attraction event' to rave about, so went nuts on telling people about that too haha.   Sales exploded!!!   I sold my £7 guide and my £99 micro course on marketing and won new clients for my £900 hyper focused coaching offer and Straight Line Through (£996) and I've got so many people interested in cohort 2 of SLT. It's madness. But equally it's not! Because…

    How to balance masculine and feminine energy to bring your art to the world

    Masculine energy creates the safety and carves out the time our feminine energy needs in order to breathe into our art. When people aren't making progress in their business, we can say they're stuck and don't know what to try next, they're overwhelmed by all the jobs on their list, they have a subconscious block that's causing them to self-sabotage, they're exhausted from all the effort (burnt out) or the classic: I just don't have time. This can all be true. But you know what else might be true? They might be excellent at feminine flow and terrible at masculine container. Or the other way around. The feminine flow is the unfolding of the work, the flow. It's you being you. It's you enjoying being alive. It's the intuition on what to do. It's the very act of creating in pure joy. For me, it's the silence of the day. The masculine container is the goal, the allocated time, the deadline and the security. It says: "You're safe, go ahead". For me, it's time in my diary, allocated to work on something I care about. When you realise both are needed to be successful you can start to look at what you're good at and where you need to put a little more focus. For example, setting the alarm and getting up with purpose is your masculine energy. Enjoying a slow breakfast, walking the dog in peace (listening to the birds and enjoying nature), then sitting down to create without pressure is your feminine energy. Likewise, making a to do list is masculine energy. Journalling to clear your thoughts is feminine energy. Putting allocated time in your diary is masculine energy. Enjoying your spontaneity in that time is your feminine energy. If you're overwhelmed by all the things on your list, you never have time to create your art or or you're afraid you won't make it through the month, you need to learn how to master your masculine energy to give yourself security, to provide focus, to ring fence time for your important art. If you're lost in mindless tasks, your nervous system feels totally overstimulated, you feel angry and irritable and burnt out by the end of the day, you need to learn how to give room to your feminine energy to offload the deadlines, to sit in your own energy and to make time for you, to make your art, to soak up the healing vibes of nature. In the beginning just write, make, create, share. As the idea develops and you start to give it shape, consider who might appreciate this and how you can package it up and position it to HELP THEM FIND IT. That's all this is - it's playing the game to help someone find you and your work so that it can move them, help them, inspire them.     #25 Don't 'yearn', do THIS to produce results (surprising)

    You know, the memory of who you 'are' is so much more powerful than the identity of the person you're trying to become simply because it has more evidence and has been 'true' for longer. In trying to change your life and get a new result in your business, you have to let go of the memory of who you thought you were and allow yourself to consider a new identity and narrative...every single day. Look around you right now... The room you're in is telling you who you are. The worries / dreams you woke up with are telling you who you are. The clothes you're wearing today are telling you who you are. Even the emails you receive are telling you who you are. They all support a narrative. And you believe that narrative so much, you act it out and act within its framework every day. Even if you have a vision board, or list out your goals or are going to the gym to hype yourself up, underneath all of this, two things remain true: (1) You must fill the void your yearning created in order to get the result - we do this by looking for ways to feel good and taking creative action; and, (2) You must remove the narrative that is sabotaging your result on loop, without needing the poor result to flip the script! Oh my! In today's episode, I want to do something a little bit different. I want to explain to you what I know about the three levels of manifestation, one of them being 'grit work', I want to show you how to measure the strength of your intention by the actions you're taking, and I want you to get honest about your next move. Look, for a long time I've found it hard to balance the narratives of manifestation and hard work. I don't like it when someone focuses exclusively on one end of the spectrum when they both have a place. The key, it turns out, isn't in how they're different, but in how they're the same. If you wake up with positive expectation that good things are coming your way and use your own unique edge to actually create something magical in the world, you're well on your way. The only things left to do are to fill any void of yearning and remove the block that sabotages the result when it comes and you're there. I want to formalise this process for you today and help you find more reasons to believe in your vision and take bolder, truer action towards it. Manifestation and work come hand in hand.     Don't change your life: Heal the subconscious pattern (What debt taught me about healing)

    There comes a point in your journey that you can no longer push through the pain to change your life and grow your business. Instead, you must sit in the discomfort of your pain and heal the subconscious pattern you're repeating. Changing at this subconscious level of patterning will lead to new thoughts, new behaviours and new results in your life and your business. But, it's not easy work! At the first level, you need to spot the pattern. Then accept responsibility for changing the pattern. The stop the pattern when it loops again.     This is the truth of how I went from zero to £100,000 in online sales in my online coaching business. Look, I know you're trying and I know you think it should be working right now. You took the leap to build your online business, you've made sales here and there but it feels too hard and you're wondering: Will this ever work; have I got what it takes? IT WILL AND YOU DO but - You've got to do what will actually work and I'm going to be really straight and tell you what those things are right now. The truth is it's harder than a lot of people will tell you online. For this to work, you've got to be so hungry for this to work, you've got to feel like it's your life's mission to show up in this way and make this work, you've got to focus on learning the proper skills of positioning value, marketing, mindset and sales to turn on sales and set yourself free. I know you want more clients and I know you can help more people. But I also know that the best coaches don't win - the best marketeers do, every time. So, if you want to build an online business and be an online coach or course provider, you've got to accept the fact you're about to become an expert in online marketing and selling. And I'm going to help you! So here's the bottom line. In a job, you get paid for showing up, regardless if you do the work or not. In entrepreneurship you do not get paid for showing up. You get paid for two reasons: (1) You added meaningful value to someone who was willing to pay for that value; and (2) Enough people got the chance to consider that valuable offer in the first place. If you're not making sales it HAS to come down to one of those two things and both are skills you develop with work, trial and error and well, more work. - For juicy context, here are some of those key ideas:   (1) Get into the world: First and foremost (hilarious phrase!?) you've got to get out in the world and sell things. Content will not lead to sales, no matter how great it is. What leads to sales is webinars, masterclasses, live workshops, discovery calls, freebies with a clear call to action. In the beginning, I understood this deeply. I made a lot of content to help build my brand and build trust, but I was ALLLWAAYYYSSS launching, selling stuff, trying stuff. I'd put on events in local coffee shops, I'd book hotel venues and put on talks every month, I'd go live on Facebook and announce new course launches. When I look back on my journey, I can see I was out there in the world. I was making new connections ALL THE TIME. I was meeting people. I was making pitches and offering things and I built my business one client at a time. Now, I tend to do long copy PDFs, and online masterclasses and workshops rather than live stuff. Back then, I did a lot in person. So ask yourself: How many times have I offered something low risk to bring people to the front of the room this year? If you can 10x that you will massively increase your sales.   (2) Tell people what you believe: Don't share boring generic sh!t and DON'T YOU DARE USE CHAT WHATEVER IT'S CALLED TO SHARE YOUR CONTENT. I don't even think you can use it for ideas if I'm honest. No-one wants to hear from a robot and no-one wants a generic summary of waffle off the internet. They want to know what worked for you! They want your powerful insights. They want the map you made! They want a human's journey. So honestly, get really deep with yourself and think about two things: (1) What is the one big outcome you can deliver right now for clients; and (2) What is the truth of what that will take. Go make that content. Go write those mailers. Go build offers in answer to that.   (3) More time with clients: Listen - get on calls with clients, offer more group time, offer more live time, offer more 121 time. If you're not making sales right now, being tight with your time is hilarious isn't it?! Instead offer more!! Double the time they get with you. If you have an online course, introduce a live weekly call where you teach key concepts and answer questions. If you're coaching is 6 sessions, make it 6 sessions + 3 action check ins. If you have a group, make one week live training and another week dedicated Q&A.     The best coaches / trainers in the world aren't the ones who make all the sales. The best sales people are the ones who make all the sales. What I mean is that they use very specific sales strategies to find customers, position the benefits and ask for the sale. In my experience, this is the part a lot of purpose driven coaches and course providers avoid. Sometimes it's not even conscious. They've literally never been taught how to sell.     This weekend, I attended the Hay House Writer's Workshop about writing and publishing a book and took enough notes to write a book! It was phenomenal - the energy, the people, the content, the speakers. I will tell you up front: I highly recommend this event to any good-hearted person who dreams of writing and publishing their own book.  But - the event didn't just teach you how to finish that book and get it out there in the world. It covered so much more including: How and why you should be building community now, and how to do that if you're reluctant. What you must know before writing a book, and how this will help you build your business too. How to put together your book proposal and what publishers really want to see. The importance of writing from 'spirit' and joy instead of ego, and how to make that transition. There was such a beautiful energy at the event; an energy of 'being of service'.  There was also a very strong message about writing with joy.     #008 How to sell online coaching programmes (what six figure coaches know)

    How odd is this concept: 75% of your job as an entrepreneur, trying to build a multiple six figure thing, is sales and marketing. I mean: If you're wondering what you should be doing today, it's this: - Making offers and making them better - Posting content and building audience and pipeline - Adding value to future customers and making sales Once those jobs are ticked, you can raise your invoices, book your calls, reply to the person quoting you insurance. These jobs are secondary. Your main job is to market and to sell. Again… Your main job as an online coach / provider is to market and sell. How does that sit with you? Does it feel weird? I bet it does. Good people who feel driven by purpose ALSO have a feeling deep down that selling is a bit odd. We want to share our gifts and knowledge, and we want to help...for free. You can of course build a model like that, where you give away your gifts for free. But you'd have to make your money elsewhere. A lottery win. Marrying into money. A job. Another business that funds this one. Or…you can build a model where you get to add a lot of value, and make a lot of sales. That's what I'm talking about in today's video but first, a little more context… I know you might feel like you're wasting your time editing a video that only 100 people see. You wish you were better on camera / at editing / with lighting. You wish you could afford to outsource it. You wish more people would see it. You might feel frustrated, like ‘Argh, that'll do', finalising the sales page for your next offer, knowing you're anxious about selling. You wish someone could just send you the clients. You wish selling was easier. But this is business: marketing, selling; learning to move people to action. The very nature of being an entrepreneur means learning how to provide value in exchange for money. And like anything worth doing, it is truly a skill that requires mastery. It takes time and hours in. Again… Marketing and selling are skills that require mastery. And the more time and effort you put in, the better you will get. You WILL be better at positioning value if you craft 20 offers in a year instead of three. You WILL be better at marketing if you post once a day, rather than twice a week. You WILL figure it all out faster if you lean in and recognise that this is a skill that requires practice, time in and attempts. The work will mould you. That being said, there is something you can take advantage of to help you on this journey. All of us have an ‘edge' – a skill that we've developed without even knowing it; a skill that has become so baked into our personalities that it's natural and normal to us now. You will even use it today. For me, growing up as a military kid and moving home / country every two years, then going off to boarding school had its downsides, but it also gave me something I will value and leverage forever. I am good with people. I am very quick at reading people. I know people. Sometimes I feel like I can read minds. I know how people are feeling, what they're not telling me, where I need to push, and where I need to encourage more gently. I learnt this from having to fit in and make friends over and over and over again. I learnt this as a child, in a natural way, without books and psychology and hacks. It's became part of who I am, and then I built on it with books, psychology, training, and hours in coaching and helping. Using this little bit of magic, I can find the crux of an offer, I can build honest relationships quickly, I can position the value people want. I can sell. In the coming weeks, I want you to reflect on this concept and ask: What is my little bit of magic? What skill or ability have I developed that I can lean on and use in my business, to help me add value, to make deals, to sell? We all have something. You have something, I promise you. So what is it? And how can you use it more? Start looking. Meanwhile, this might help as a reminder of what's important when it comes to selling at this level. In this week's instalment, I'm showing you the three places where the sale happens. What I'm about to share with you is known to six figure business owners who continue to sell and grow.     Doing the work you're avoiding: Softer strategies for getting it done

    “People set these crazy plans and approaches and targets they can never meet because: over-egging your plan and setting crazy targets is a form of sabotage - it gives you the ultimate out.” New video now live - Getting it finished: 5 softer approaches for getting your important work done. The secret to success is 49% action and 99% ‘YOU' - shh, that adds up scientifically - and the capacity you have to do three things: Try things when there's no guarantee it will work; Put yourself out there and risk failure; and, Feel like an imposter and turning up anyway. Even when you create the time and resolve to take action and do the important work, it's still your mindset that will allow it or block it. What if someone judges how I look on camera? What if it isn't good enough and no-one buys it? What if it only gets five likes and then everyone thinks I'm silly for posting? There are two types of work us lot need to do. The first type of work is output related. Show me your chapter outline. Give me a one pager on your new programme idea. Let's see your first video cut. That's physical output - stuff other people can see, buy, use and share. That makes sense right? The second type of work is all internal. It's feeling vulnerable about posting a video, recognising that story started as a child for you, and supporting yourself to show up in a way that feels safe to you over time. It's a process, it's not an outcome. It's knowing you have a habit of giving away all of your money because you think that's what it takes to receive love, and working hard to spot it when you do it, sit in the discomfort of deciding to keep your money and doing the work to change your story about your own worthiness. It's a process, it's not an outcome. It's recognising you tend to say yes to everyone else and your dreams have ended up one week down the list, one year down the list, one decade down the list and now you're working through the guilt you feel just for taking some time to work on yourself. It's a process, it's not an outcome. THAT'S THE WORK ISN'T IT? When people say to me things like “Lisa, I'm struggling to post because I feel like an imposter”, there is often a full stop there. But the sentence can't stop there. There must be an exploration of where this comes from, what benefits it's giving you now, and how you plan to work through this. All the while, there is mounting pressure to post, to create, to finish and so you heap tonnes of guilt on top of the fact you're struggling to get things done. I know, because I feel it too. That second example above - the money / love one - that [has been] me [in the past]! So we need something else, don't we? It's taken me a long time to learn what it really takes to change your life and get projects over the line. Sometimes it is MASSIVE, high energy, physical action, it's true.     Yesterday, I recorded the start of a new podcast ten times. I am not exaggerating or rounding up for smartness. I even paused after six attempts, had a tea break and tried again. I was committed to producing a podcast episode.  The theme I'd selected was based on a training I'd delivered a week earlier for my business community: How to build a six figure online marketing funnel. The training was fire! Fast paced. Challenging. A direct call to arms to be useful, to work hard, to focus on client results at every step of the funnel. But it just didn't translate to a podcast for a wider audience. Something that felt really poignant and topical for one audience became cliche and general for another.  Without considering why that was the case, I called my dad and said "Dad, I'm not working today - do you want to go and surprise mum at work?". He was a yes. I told him I'd be leaving in an hour. I just had to walk the dogs and send some client emails first. Deciding to walk away from the episode gave me something. Freedom? Space? It let me off the hook! It meant I didn't have to produce something practical or functional. I didn't have to 'tick the box' of marketing that day. It just wasn't happening. I'd tried.  Somewhat ironically, then, I found myself reaching for my iPhone, whilst looping the field, to record the introduction of the podcast I wasn't making. It felt fun, light, in flow. I recorded myself calling back the dogs. I recorded myself clipping them in. And that's when I realised what was bothering me.  Content for the sake of content demotivates me. I can't produce something for the sake of it. I don't like to and I don't want to. And I don't have to. When I think of what inspires me, what really gets me flowing, it's the opportunity to create something new and different that will make people smile and ask 'how did she do that?'. I don't want to be a follower, of a pattern or a style or a formula. I want to be a leader, a creator, an original. With that idea in mind, I recorded my thoughts (and the rest of my day) on my iPhone, sharing the concept of 'being useful'. Today's podcast episode is the result of that work. We explore the importance of being truly useful in a world filled with more and more content. We look at the catalytic effect of desire in making the world a better place for the people you can help. And I challenge you to produce something meaningful for your business today, instead of ticking yet another item off the list.  I hope you enjoy.     Did you ever used to watch Gary Vee's daily vlogs? I loved them! I'm not sure if they're back now, but the ones pre-world-shut-down. Ah man they were fab - music, broll, daily life. Right up my video editing street. Anyway, in the intro to them, he used to step off a jet and you'd hear him say: "I just want to be happy, don't you want to be happy?". Those words are repeated in my head DAILY. And even more so if I feel down or stuck or demotivated. That notion - 'I just want to be happy' - has prompted some crazy decisions in me for a long time. I guess I just believe that there is nothing more 'successful' than being happy, truly, deeply, happy. Safe & secure, with means to live well, yes...and happy. I also believe that if we do what is 'for us' in this lifetime - if we're brave and follow the calling, if we do what lights us up - the other things we desire will follow anyway. It's hard of course, finding the courage to pursue happiness over familiarity, happiness over comfort, happiness over status quo. It's often real 'rock the boat of life' stuff we have to do. And a lot of people pause when it comes to the 'taking action' part. I guess that's what I'm talking about in today's voice note - what comes before action, what makes us happy, who we want to become. Two things... 1. Vision / destination / goal / intention / desire. 2. Belief / resolve / willingness to try / energy / motivation to act. Often people know what they want and won't admit it. Then know what it will take and won't do it. I think the first one comes down to a fear of failure or getting hurt and the second one comes down to a belief of ‘not me', as in - other people can do this but I can't. I doubt myself all the time when I'm shooting for more. In those times I lean heavily on journalling, affirmations annnnddd the belief of others. Every day we have a choice: Avoid the hard stuff and distract ourselves with checkout activities. Which really just makes the pain bigger in the long run. Or... Lean on positive habits like books, exercise, motivation content etc. to find just enough courage to take one small step. When I was totally lost in depression I learnt not to lean on my own motivation at that time - I didn't have any! So I borrowed other people's. I read so many autobiographies of business owners who'd turned things around. I listened to comedians on my runs. I played motivational music and speeches and FLOODED my mind and subconscious with the new thoughts I knew I had to believe. And with that, I found the courage each day to do a little something for my future - post, pay off some debt, learn. And I am so grateful to that past version of myself who tried in agony.     3 mins on happiness and fear - how to take action today

    Happiness, like most good things - It's not a passive process. The passive process of life will see you falling into the trenches of what is easy, what is comfortable, what you've done before. Happiness requires that you actively put yourself in the way of what you want in your life, and you put yourself on the line and you risk failure. Everybody's terrified of failure but fear is only ever one of two things. You're afraid it will fail and you won't look good. And the other fear is fear of getting hurt. Here's the thing that I love, right… Every time you take action on something, you're basically saying, I have faith that this could work. I believe that this might turn out. I believe that if I give it a go and I commit to it, I will figure something out along the way and I'll probably end up where I want to be. Any time you procrastinate or hold back or make an excuse or whatever, you're basically saying, I'm fearful that this won't turn out. I'm afraid it won't work. I don't have faith in my ability to see this through. So if you're procrastinating on anything like putting a post out, writing a book, going to the gym, going on dating apps, remind yourself that all you're doing is protecting yourself from the fear of failure, from the fear that it won't work out. Well, let me tell you, you've already failed because it's never going to work out if you're not even in the game. If you literally don't give it a go, you have failed anyway. So the very thing you tried to protect yourself from, you just ran into at 100 miles an hour. Why do that? The thing that you want sits on the other side of you taking action.

    5 minutes on: How to change a subconscious belief to change your life

    Changing your life is an active, not a passive, process. There are stories and ideas and beliefs you're running that are stupid and mean and cruel. What speaker would say to themselves: “You suck! You'll never get paid to speak!” What writer would say to themselves: “You've got nothing to say, don't even begin!” What coach would say to themselves: “You don't know enough. Don't even think about posting that!” Of course, we don't say these things out loud or even consciously. They're thoughts, ideas, vibes we hold in our subconscious mind. Who cares why. Who cares where they came from. What I care about is this: 1 - You define what you want to become. 2 - You dig deep and list out how you feel about this. What ideas support you here? What fears do you have? What's the dominant thought you have in the background around this goal? 3 - Write it all down! Pay attention. GET CONSCIOUSNESS over the feelings you hold. Say them out loud. Put them into words. 4 - REWRITE THEM! Rewrite the beliefs you need to hold and repeat them until your subconscious mind accepts them as truth. This sounds too simple to work but it literally does lol. A belief is JUST something we've repeated enough times that we hold it to be fact. It's not fact! “I don't have time” is an opinion, not a fact. “I'm not good enough” is an opinion, not a fact. “I don't deserve it” is an option, not a fact. Don't ignore this advice. It will change your life. Set your intention. Go searching for the feelings / blocks / self limiting beliefs. Put them into words. REWRITE the belief you need and repeat, repeat, repeat until you hold it to be true. Meanwhile… Of course you need to back this up with action! Don't just say stuff and return to your normal behaviours. Repeat the new beliefs AND use that vibe to sit down to write a post. Repeat the new beliefs AND use that energy to get yourself on the dating app! Repeat the new belief AND use that power to create a speaker bio. Beliefs and actions come hand in hand. There are only two things you have to focus on if you want to change your life now and it really is as simple as this: (1) How you see yourself; and, (2) The action YOU prioritise. It's tragic to think we know something we want and we even know how to get it and yet we simply don't do the 'one true action' that will get us there. It's like waking up and saying: "I'm desperate to be in shape. I know all I have to do is make better food and move a little more each day but instead I think I'll eat this entire bag of [whatever] and sit at my desk all day". Or "I urgently want (and need) to grow my business. To do that all I need to do is actually complete my new offer, invite more people to consider it through webinars / events / ads but instead I think I'll clear my inbox and sit and worry about the money running out." Why? We actually do this don't we? Think now of something you want. And identify the two basic things you'd have to do in order to make it happen. So why won't you do those two things? What is stopping you? I think it all comes down to how you see yourself and therefore the action you prioritise... And, I guess - focus. Is that thing in focus now? Do you bring it back into focus daily, by watching content like this and actually taking action. Listen! You CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE. And the changes you make today will be the life you live tomorrow.     Out of character

    ​Have you realised that to change your life [insert goal - write book, scale business, change health, move, fall in love, change career], you don't just have to 'make changes', but you have to consistently act deeply 'out of character for yourself' on a consistent basis to experience the new outcome. Obviously, that is going to feel horrendous because you think your character is YOU. But it's not. It's just a collection of ideas, memories, beliefs and values you've come to focus on, remember and prioritise. Like a path we tread in the grass. The more we tread it, the more engrained it becomes. Your 'character' has become deeply engrained. With a bit of effort, we can change the path and we can change our character. I know this sounds crazy but... Everyone has a 'return to type' - a way they respond when things get tough. Let's say for example - an idea doesn't work, you're facing confrontation, you feeling out of control or exposed. In all these situations, you have a way of responding, a type you return to. This is why change doesn't stick because when it happens, people feel out of control and return to type, their type, their character. Therefore, to change your life, you must learn to change what is characteristic for you. You must act out of character. You ready for this work? Let's see...
