This month is Global Child Nutrition Month, and the WIC Supplemental Food Program is in the spotlight, offering free groceries and nutrition guidance to mothers and children. With the new Illinois WIC EBT Card and expanded clinic hours, access is easier than ever for working families in Henry, Stark, Marshall, and Putnam counties. Health officials are also marking Child Abuse Prevention Month, donning blue and urging community action with the theme “It Takes a Village” to help end child abuse and promote healthier futures for children.

After Oklahoma recently passed state legislation clarifying school surplus food donations are safe, legal, and encouraged, Emily McNally and Meagan Quickle started conversations about a potential partnership between The Broken Arrow Public Schools and Broken Arrow Neighbors starting with 2 pilot schools that have resulted in over 1,000 pounds of rescued food preserved to feed families instead of landfills in the Broken Arrrow community. At the same time, I'm diagnosing more and more kids with high cholesterol, pre-diabetes, and actual full-blown diabetes. It is clear something is gravely wrong.I can't fix healthcare, but I can change how I practice healthcare. I can add my voice to the growing movement of doctors who see an urgent need to tackle some of the challenges we face today. And I can be a part of that movement toward change.That's why I'm motivated start a podcast.
