Inspired by 'The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles,' Brad entices the group this week with the Dance of Sedu... *ahem* Deduction. Chris Davis talks up 'Chernobylite' (the next game from the developers of Get Even) and Nolan revisits the delightful world of 'Overcooked: All You Can Eat' to talk about the new Birthday Party expansion. We also discuss our time with 'Grounded' from last week which obviously devolves into a nostalgic discussion about 'Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.' Oh... and WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON WITH BLUE BOX?
Lee Cole has returned to his emotive ballad roots with the brand - new single ‘Emotional', which dropped on Friday, 23 July 2021. Following the success ‘I Don't Wanna Wait ', ‘ Pink Dragons', 'Do You Still Care' and most recently ‘Honey, Let Me In' - all songs have that have charted on the Kfm Top 40 – with the latter being at no.2 on the chart for the past few weeks – Lee is back with another one. A day after release, on following his charting single ('Honey, Let Me In'), Carl Wastie called Lee Cole on the award-winning chart show to chat about the song that the Jo'burg based artist recorded and produced in his bedroom studio. Will Lee Cole move away from ballads? Take a listen to the interview to find out. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Another week, another successful blindside of one of your favourite South African artists! On Saturday, 24 April 2021, Carl Wastie called Lee Cole up, under the pretence of Freedom Day messages, to surprise him and tell him his new single, 'Honey, Let Me In', is charting on the Kfm Top 40! There's definitely a bromance budding between South African artist, Lee Cole and Kfm 94.5 presenter, Carl Wastie... On Saturday, 17 April 2021, Carl called up Lee Cole on the Kfm Top 40 - the only chart in the country to have charted all three of Lee's releases last year - to find out about his new single, 'Honey, Let Me In'. What started as a normal catch-up got pretty awkies when Lee mentioned that Carl doesn't follow him on Instagram, and Carl summed up Lee's song for him. Take a listen to what went down in this highly entertaining interview from the award-winning Kfm Top 40! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We're travelling all the way to the 1990s where we dare to review some movies that were considered our favourites back then. We are looking at the sweeping sword and kilt war epic directed and starring Mel Gibson in Braveheart. Then we explore war in another era with the Cold War espionage thriller in The Hunt for Red October. Since it is the month that has Father's Day, then why not look at two movies about dads that really mess their kids up. We have the Shia Labeouf written semi-autobiographical tale in Honey Boy and a drama about how some are destined to repeat the sins of the father in All Day and a Night. There has also been some major social unrest in the last few weeks, and I think some historic changes are on their way. So, we ask what responsibility do filmmakers have in exploring and looking at major modern social issues? It is almost two hours of movie talk and we had a great time recording it. If you love the show, then could you please help us out by spreading the word on social media.Reminder that you can subscribe either to The Movie Breakdown feed (a subscription link is at the top right hand of this site), or subscribe on sites like Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, CastBox and iTunes. The Movies' Rating Out of Four StarsHoney Boy ***½ (CS & SM)All Day and a Night ** (CS) & *** (SM)The Hunt for Red October **** (CS & SM)Braveheart **** (CS & SM)
We discuss womanhood and matriarchy- topics explored in Wanja's first album, Matriarch. We talk about the ins and outs of playing internationally and the joy behind playing to an intimate and present crowd. We talk about how Wanja stays rooted in love and in truth in what could sometimes be deemed an ingenious industry. She shares the word 'Homecoming' as an adjective to describe this album. It was written at a time where she was yearning for a sense of home and asking questions such as "what's my lineage?", "what's my ancestry?", "who are the women who made me who I am both literally and more esoterically". We discuss ways she supports other women in the industry while moving in kindness and fearlessness. We also touch on misconceptions people have about her as well as how she feels after having released the new EP, 'Honey'.We talk about self care in the times of the internet and find out what she is listening to and is inspired by, currently. We talk about her music relationship with her now fiancé and how music has always been around for her. How it takes a village to create a beautiful, blooming, continuously productive artist- yet how it all comes down to just you. We hear her advice for young girls learning to love their bodies and trust in their journeys and end with ways you can support her as an artist in a world of online streaming.
This week we review the soundtrack to 'Honey, I Shrunk the Kids', a score credited to James 'Horny' Horner. But really, you should be thanking Raymond Scott, Danny Elfman, Dave Grusin, Aaron Copland, and Nino Rota for this score. This is the most 'Horny' has screwed over film composers since he banged Goldsmith's daughter.

On the Geektown Radio podcast this week we have a little change from our usual tv and film people interviews. We've recently returned from a long weekend at the brilliant Insomnia 63 Gaming Festival, and had a chance to chat with a number of the indie game developers. We also have all the usual latest UK TV news, air date information. The first developer we spoke to was Sole Survivor Games, the duo behind the wonderfully entertaining 'Honey, I Joined a Cult', which puts you in control of your own 1970s cult. The object is to build and expand your base, manage your resources, and generally make as much money out of your followers as humanly possible! We chatted with the guys, neither of whom have any background or experience in game development, about coming up with the concept, the obvious 'Prison Architect' inspiration (and more importantly, how it differs), and about risking quitting perfectly good jobs to put it all on the line and live their dream of developing a video game! The second people we spoke with were Level Boss Games about their upcoming title 'Stuntfall'. In the game, you are a ragdoll stuntman on a green screen set filming a scene for any of 5 different themed films. Your task is to complete objectives to win points with the director. Singleplayer sees you play through a series of films utilising the game's mechanics to complete each scene, whereas multiplayer is focused on the more competitive aspect of the modes and mechanics with matches of Humans and AI playing for the sheer purpose of winning. The last people we chatted with were FreeJam, the award-winning developer of free-to-play PC hit, 'Robocraft', who were showing off their new title, 'CardLife'. 'CardLife' is a 'Minecraft-esque' online multiplayer survival game set in a cardboard Science Fantasy world. You can encounter and battle a host of fantastical creatures and craft your own creations using their unique Connect the Dots crafting system where you can draw customisable cardboard shapes that slot together to create new Tools, Building Prefabs, Weapons, Vehicles, Creature Companions and much much more. Also On This Week's Show:Darryl returns the co-host chair so we chat about tv shows, films and games we’ve been watching and playing since he was last on.We take a look at all the latest tv & film news, including the latest renewals & cancellations, Brendan Fraser joining 'Doom Patrol', casting changes in the Arrowverse, and Armando Iannucci’s Sci-fi Comedy Pilot ‘Avenue 5’.We give you our recommendations for upcoming TV in the next 7 days. It is going to be shocking to find that human trafficking, sex slavery, pedophilia and pagan human sacrifice rituals still continue to this day in the halls of power from the Vatican to the U. S. Congress and even the White House. This industry had been well hidden, but now the great uncovering is happening and independent journalists and investigators are showing the connections to Anthony Weiner and his wide ring of associates, including his wife Huma Abedin, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, John and Tony Podesta, Jeffrey Epstein and many other people in positions of power.
