Happy MF New YEAARRR!! A brand spanking new year for new adventures, new relationships, new goals and an opportunity to create an upgraded version of yourself! In this episode, I give you three necessities that will completely transform your mindset going into 2024! It's so important that you always remember how incredibly capable you are and how valuable your energy is - especially when it's channeled in a productive way. Take your goals and overall wellness seriously this year and see how much your life changes in just 365 days! . If you're looking for a way to challenge yourself this year I HIGHLY recommend joining me in trying the 75Hard Challenge. I lightly touch on this subject in this episode but below is the 75Hard Challenge in its entirety. For 75 days STRAIGHT you must: Two 45min workouts daily (one indoor, one outdoor): it doesn't neccessarily need to be a hardcore HIIT workout or heavy lifting, it could be stretching, yoga, a walk... just something that helps your physical fitness Drink one gallon of water daily Read 10 pages of a non-fiction book daily Follow a diet of your choice daily: you could cut out sugar, cut out carbs, be more intentional about your protein intake. Whatever diet aligns with your goals NO ALCOHOL Take a progress picture of yourself daily (I've opted for a progress pic whenever I can because I need the storage for my reels lol but definitely one in the beginning and one at the end) If you slip up within the 75day period you must start over. You could be at day 73 and you'd have to start over. Make sure you go into this challenge with the intention to better yourself, not punish. This is a challenge to prove that you're capable of discipline, consistency and MOST IMPORTANTLY keeping promises to yourself! I LOVE YOU ALL! 2024 is OUR YEAR!
What if the key to conquering your hidden mental health hurdles lies in understanding the acronym HALT - Hungry, Angry, Lonely, and Tired? This is not a motivational speech that just tells you to never give up--NEVER SURRENDER! That's a great attitude to have, for sure, yet what really motivates perseverance and persistence is understanding the reasoning behind the quitting, pausing, excuses and downright lies that prevent goals from being reached. This episode is rich with information based on my experience and research. In about 20 minutes, you'll understand why you are not a destined quitter, how to uncover the reasons behind your decisions to quit in the past, and how to navigate toward a path of possibilities through personalized understanding. Not convinced it's possible? I illustrate my own path as a quitter-turned-winner through my four attempts to complete the 75Hard Challenge. In closing, I pose eight critical questions to help guide you out of your rut and straight to the winners circle: Do you believe in change? Do you believe in yourself? Are you willing to put in consistent effort? What do you want to change? Why do you want to change it? What fears come up for you around that change? Where does that fear come from? What truth or truths reinforce your belief in change? FREE LISTENER RESOURCE This is complex stuff, so if you want to see my personal example of how I answered these questions, click here. I'll also include a list of four unwelcome challenges that you'll actually want to embrace when you commit to quitting quitting! I'm currently doing the 75Hard CHALLENGE and reading the "75Hard" book for the 3rd time. And this excerpt really stood out to me and wanted to share with you too! "The real world deals in facts, not feelings, and what matters is action, execution and results. The reality is, history forgets whiners, but remembers WINNERS. Bottom Line: The nature of real life demands that we see the pursuit of happiness and success and greatness as a competition, and only tough minded, hard working, straight-shooting people WIN that competition."
After completing the #75Hard Challenge in August. Chuck talks about his next even more challenging workout program he is doing, and also talks about the lessons gained and the goals reached with the #75Hard Challenge.
Today marks Day 1 of my second go-around with the most daunting mental, emotional and physical challenge I've faced... The #75Hard Challenge! Only 74 more days to go to complete it...and I will share the tests I will face - and need to pass - to accomplish my goal. But today, it's all about why I'm doing it...because of the lessons I will learn, and the wins and stumbles I will experience - and what it can do for you too. Cheers! Celebrating with a champagne toast or kicking back after a long day with a glass of wine is commonplace in our culture. We deserve a little relaxation, right? Sure, however, at what expense? In this diary entry of an episode, I dive into how alcohol became normalized for me early on in life, how I learned to cope with alcohol and what my relationship looks like now as I hit my midway point in the 75Hard Challenge. From an embarrassing drunken weekend story to a scarring encounter with belligerence, I look at where to draw the line in a way that I can continue forging my path toward health and happiness. Note: The messages in this episode reflect my experience and learned knowledge as a source of information and inspiration to achieve security and wellness in your own life. Life is already hard. Why should we ever try to make things more difficult for ourselves? Honestly?! Mental toughness. That's the purpose of the 75Hard Challenge, created by entrepreneur Andy Frisella. I first learned about this program a few years ago, but became more intimately aware of the intensity of its critical challenges when my friend, Dolly Baker, took it head on. Not only did she complete the 75Hard Challenge--75 days of total commitment and discipline--she also completed the year-long Live Hard program. (Yeah, she's pretty amazing.) In the first of two episodes with Dolly, we learn about her own wellness journey, which involves ditching her old indulging habits of enjoying cake and sweets for ones that would lead her to be a bodybuilder and competitor. Today, she's in pursuit of establishing stable, lifelong wellness practices. However, after feeling stuck in a rut, she decided her mindset needed a little attention as well. She shares with us: What inspired her to commit to the 75Hard Challenge. The surprising challenges she experienced along the way. TIps for anyone who is interested in strengthening their own mental toughness. The life-changing lessons she learned from completing Live Hard. The second part of this interview will come next week, where she dives into all the new tasks--and revelations--she had in the final phases of Live Hard. Not inspired yet? Well, I am. That's why I've also committed to completing the 75Hard challenge. I'm ready to level up my mental toughness, and speak to my own journey in this episode. If you're interested in learning more about 75Hard, you can visit https://andyfrisella.com/pages/75hard-info. IT'S COMPLETELY FREE! I purchased the app for about $5 and borrowed his book to read along the way, but you do not need either to complete the challenge. All you need is to make the choice. Last year, I completed the #75Hard Challenge – which is a mental toughness challenge, it was the hardest, most rewarding challenge I have ever done in my life! Each day for 75 days, participants: Do two 45-minute workouts (one outside) Stick to a diet Have no cheat meals or alcohol Drink 4 litres of water Read 10 pages of non-fiction Take a progress photo This challenge taught me so much about my ability to stay on track with my intended goals and habits, and I got a LOT of questions from my community about the experience! Mentor Lorraine Murphy joined me doing the challenge, and in this episode, Lorraine and I compare notes on what the challenge taught us, including: Why we each did the challenge What our biggest fears/block were going into it What helped us get through it The books we each read during the challenge What we learned about making goals happen as a result Why intentionality is so important We we need to forget about motivation What we'd each say to someone listening who's undertaking a big goal this year Follow my journey on my dedicated #75hard Instagram account Lorraine's Books The Hard Thing About Hard Things The Big Leap Profit First Sharon's Books Atomic Habits The Badass Life Open Wide Lorraine Murphy @lorraineremarks The Lorraine Murphy Show Sharon Cliffe @thesharoncliffe
There are seasons in our lives and sometimes they last for 10 years with nothing to show but a drunken, debaucherous, fun-filled adventure. And sorry to disappoint you, but this episode is not about any of that. It's a story about a man who made the decision to go all in on himself after taking a series of journeys in life and business that made him realize he has more in his proverbial “gas tank” than he realized. Justin Schoener is Founder of Outlaw Off-Road of Texas where they outfit some of the biggest, baddest trucks on the roads of the United States with suspension lifts, enhanced diesel and gas performance, tires, wheels, and a full line of truck accessories. He's an enthusiastic business consultant educating technicians and owners how to drop the wrench and live a better version of their lives. He's an avid investor in VRBO (Vacation Rentals By Owners) and loves the chance to educate fellow investors anytime he gets a chance. In this episode, Pedro and Justin talk about partying in their 20s, their first cars and trucks, the power of the Live Hard program, their favorite books, business ethics, core values surrounding how to operate correctly in business, the power of having a mentor, dealing with the daily stresses of life and business, and how to unplug from the 18-hour grind and why it's not necessary to work more to have a fulfilling life. What You'll Learn: How old Justin was when he bought his first truck and how much he paid Justin's choice of truck between Chevy VS “the other guys” The true safety net in entrepreneurship One book that changed Justin's business in less than 3 hours Why Justin didn't have a coach in business until 2021 The power of having high standards and what it means to operate with integrity in life and business A magical 12-hour journey in Apex Evolution where Justin had his biggest revelation to date Why it's important to establish goals and listen to mentors How Justin Failed the 75Hard Challenge twice and what made him finally nail it the 3rd time And much more! FAVORITE QUOTE: “Anything that's put in front of me, I'm gonna overcome it. I'm gonna figure it out. Whether it's employee problems, I'm not gonna give up. I'm not gonna tap out. I may have to take a step back and take a breather and to recenter and refocus, but overcoming adversity. I don't care what's thrown at me whether having to work out in the open air, lack of employees, if I have to get out my own tools and work again. We're gonna figure it out and get the customer's job done.” Justin Schoener Connect with Justin: Facebook Instagram Outlaw Off-Road of Texas How To Get Involved: From rock bottom and $500 to his name, Pedro Meneses moved to the US, left everything behind seeking answers to turning his life around, becoming an entrepreneur, and thriving in business. In this talk I continue reflecting on what I'm learning from the #75Hard Challenge. WIth just two days to go... (See the previous talk for lessons 1-5) #6 = You don't always “feel like it.” Sometimes the motivation to do it comes in the actual doing… Sounds odd, I know. We often think we NEED to get motivated first, and then we can step it up, get going, etc… Then there's this… C.S. Lewis, the famed author of the Chronicles of Narnia said that even when he didn't feel like praying, he just knelt and prayed… … it was in those times, he wrote, that the supernatural kicked in, God showed up, and he most felt like it… We often wait to feel it— anything— before we move, don't we…? I've learned… some of my best workouts (a la in the #GarageFit gym here at the #Hilltop) happen on those days I don't actually WANT to get up and get moving… Then, I rationalize… What else am I gonna do with the next bit of time? Just lay here in the bed…? Nah… So I get up, and get moving… And those are the days that seem to be the best day. Can't explain it, it just works… Then there are the days I don't feel like writing, but I do… Or I don't feel like having that convo, but we step in and push anyway…. And the days I don't feel like… … ah, you know what I'm saying. Sure, sometimes we're motivated. And that's great. But many times… some of the best things happen when we're not. And we just show up and step into it anyway. Because a lot of time the motivation to do the thing comes in the actual doing…
n this talk I continue discussing the “ten things I learned from the #75Hard Challenge.” (I'm currently, as of the airing of this talk, on day #73— meaning I have TWO MORE to go!) (If you haven't listened to the first talk already, go ahead and finish this one and then loop back— they work together but can function in either order!) Here are observations 6-10…
This summer, I did— and am still doing— the #75Hard challenge… It works like this— ✅ Follow a meal plan of your choice ✅ No cheat days ✅ No alcohol ✅ Two 45-minute workouts each day— one of which must be outside ✅ Take a progress picture each day ✅ Read 10 pages per day (audiobooks don't count) ✅ Drink 1 gallon of water That's it— and it's supposed to be more of a #MentalChallenge than a #PhysicalChallenge… ⭐️ As of the recording of this talk, I'm 61 days in… so, the light is at the end of the tunnel, for sure. And, so far, here's what I've learned… (Think of this as my Top 10 lessons. I'll communicate them in an order that makes sense to me— though not necessarily the order of importance…) Here's the first… #1 = Sometimes, the reason(s) you think you CANNOT do something are precisely the reason(s) why you SHOULD wholeheartedly jump in… I almost didn't do the challenge… … because we're in the middle of summer… … because we're in the middle of launching the new #1B7 project and I'm working crazy hours … because we're about to go the lake with friends and the diet will be hard … because we have MORE friends coming over tonight and I'll probably want to open up the TWO new bottles of bourbon a friend sent… … because… … because… You get it. There are always reasons why it's NOT A GOOD TIME. ⭐️ But when it comes to #SelfImprovement, it's always the #RightTime and #RightPlace, isn't it? I mean, think about— really think hard— the reasons we push stuff off, and punt the great actions that lead to the best results down the field… Those are usually the very reasons we should just jump in, aren't they? #2 = Most things in life aren't “all or nothing.” Around the 3rd day of the challenge, I began recording my thoughts + reflections as I rounded the hill in front of the house. This is generally where I walk to cool down… (And, I began posting those short vids to social media, including a new TikTok account… @AndrewEJenkins) That first week, something struck me— #75Hard is an “all or nothing” proposition. You either make it all the way, or you fail and you must start over. That is, if you don't drink the water, if you don't make the workouts, if you don't read the pages… if you forget to take your progress pic that day… … then your gain for the entire journey thus far is considered NOTHING and you begin over at Day 1. That's the rule. And, of course, it makes total sense in a challenge like this. But most things in life aren't that way. Yet, oddly enough, we tend to treat them that way.

Last week— the week I recorded this podcast episode— I started the #75Hard Challenge. It's been all over the Internet + social media for the past year or so. If you haven't heard about it, I guarantee you will again in the near future. It works like this— ✅ Follow a meal plan of your choice ✅ No cheat days ✅ No alcohol ✅ Two 45-minute workouts each day— one of which must be outside ✅ Take a progress picture each day ✅ Read 10 pages per day (audiobooks don't count) ✅ Drink 1 gallon of water That's it— and it's supposed to be more of a #MentalChallenge than a #PhysicalChallenge… You do it, as you might suppose, for 75 days… I almost didn't do the challenge … because we're in the middle of summer… … because we're in the middle of launching the new #1B7 project and I'm working crazy hours … because we're about to go the lake with friends and the diet will be hard … because we have MORE friends coming over tonight and I'll probably want to open up the TWO new bottles of bourbon a friend sent… … because… … because… You get it. There are always reasons why it's NOT A GOOD TIME. But, sometimes those are the very reasons we SHOULD jump right in… especially when it comes to self- improvement. Face it, you're one of the best investments you'll ever make. We intuitively know this. If you asked ANYONE, “What's more important, people are things?” They'd answer you quickly— and easily— “People.” If we made it personal and asked, “What's more important, YOU or your possessions…?” “Me, of course…” It's a no-brainer. Yet we spend years and even decades training to acquire money so that we can acquire stuff… … stuff that we'll eventually store and never look at again, sell for a penance of what we bought it for, or just giveaway. Someone said it well, “You spend the first half of your life acquiring things, and then the second half of your life realizing that the most important things aren't things at all… it's the people your didn't prioritize in the pursuit of those possessions…” Since we know that… And since we've OWNED that reality… Why not just change it up NOW, instead of waiting until later? Why not—
What the heck is 75 Hard? Why did 2 moms + business owners with already busy schedules commit to making their lives intentionally harder? And what happened when we followed the program for 75 intense days? This episode is for those feeling the need for a kick in the pants. Maybe you've been in a rut or are just craving a level up with your habits, health, productivity or mental resilience. Who is Melanie Roberson? Melanie Roberson lives in Hattiesburg, MS, with her husband John, a maxillofacial surgeon. She has two college children and is making the most of an empty nest. Melanie's Instagram @melshealthymeals is one of my favorites, as she inspires me with her meals, her love of exercise, and her strong faith and positive outlook on life. Why Melanie is so committed to a healthy lifestyle. When in college, Melanie gained the "Freshman 15," developed high cholesterol, and simply didn't feel good about herself. When her doctor told her he was putting her on statins, she asked for time to make lifestyle changes. She did, and she never looked back. Her cholesterol is perfect, and she is on no medication. Melanie's grocery routine. Melanie buys tons and tons of produce; she eats the rainbow! She lives in a small town with limited grocery outlets (no Whole Foods), so she has some favorite ways to get fresh, healthy food to her table. Melanie buys produce locally from Farmer's markets and grocery stores. Melanie purchases many favorite products from Thrive Market. She buys seafood online from Sizzlefish. What she doesn't cook that week she freezes. The middle aisle of the grocery store is a no to Melanie. She doesn't stock up on packaged foods or snacks. Things we discuss in this Podcast Melanies' favorite "sweet tooth" indulgence. Why Melanie is doing the "75Hard Challenge" and what she has learned. How Melanie became consistent in her exercise routine. How she spends quiet time consistently with God and her husband.

Branding is something we so often think about externally, isn't it? "What impact is my branding making in the marketplace?" "What effect does my brand have on my customers?" Necessary and important conversations. And all things we love diving into here. But there's another, often overlooked, kind of branding...especially as business owners. What about the way we are branding ourselves...to ourselves? What impact on our businesses does THAT make? In this episode, Melissa and I sit and discuss the details and the idea behind our upcoming #KNTX60 Challenge. Each of our clients will be automatically included in this challenge, there is no cost but there are huge benefits to completing it. The goal is simple, complete 5 daily “tasks” every single day for 60 days in a row. This is a way to build mental toughness and your ability to take control over decisions around not only your health and wellness but your life in general. The tasks are relatively simple, competing them every day for 60 days straight will be incredibly challenging for most of us. We will be joining you all on this journey and we encourage you to find a friend or group of friends to help hold you accountable. There will be some huge benefits to those who actually complete the 60 days straight with 100% compliance. This challenge was inspired by the 75Hard Challenge we had heard about, we adapted it a bit to make not our own. Your daily requirements will be as follows: 1-Drink 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water (minimum); 2- 2x30 min or more exercise/movement sessions each day (elevated breath and HR, break a little sweat), at least 2x's per week these need to be at KINETIX and 1 out of the 2 daily sessions needs to be performed outside; 3- Reflect with Gratitude, write down 3 things you are grateful for every day (they can't be the same thing every day); 4- Develop and stick to a 1Hr nighttime routine before bed, the only rules are NO SCREEN TIME for that hour and you need to read 10 pages of non-fiction (preferably something in the realm of personal and/or professional development); 5- Food/Nutrition, maintain at least a 12 hour “fasting window”, eat 1 cup/fist size serving of veggies EVERY MEAL, no more than 4 alcoholic drinks total each week. Remember the goal is all of these things EVERY SINGLE DAY for 60 days. Let's do this everyone! Challenge starts November 12th, step up to the plate!
