"Your Best Year Ever: A 5-Step Plan for Achieving Your Most Important Goals" by Michael Hyatt is a book that inspires readers to stop drifting through life and start achieving their dreams. Hyatt presents a five-step plan that's both easy to follow and profoundly effective. Firstly, the book emphasizes the power of belief. It's all about embracing the possibility that your goals are achievable. Hyatt encourages readers to adopt a growth mindset, which means believing that you can learn, change, and grow over time. Next step talks about the importance of completing the past. This step involves reflecting on past experiences, learning from failures, and celebrating successes. The third step is designing your future. Hyatt provides practical tools for setting clear, actionable goals. He talks about the importance of writing down your goals and breaking them down into smaller, manageable tasks. The fourth step, finding your why, is about connecting your goals to your deeper values and purpose. When you know why you're pursuing a goal, you're more likely to stay committed, even when things get tough. Finally, the last step is making it happen. Hyatt offers strategies for staying focused, overcoming obstacles, and making consistent progress. Overall, "Your Best Year Ever" is a motivating guide to help readers achieve their most important goals. It's a must-read for anyone looking to make positive changes in their life.

Have you ever felt stuck in life, going nowhere toward your dreams fast? Have you ever made goals and promptly forgotten about them? What do you think are the steps to fulfill your God-given purpose? Are you doing them? It's time for #5 in our sure-fire ways to stay stuck…let me ask you…how are those goals coming you made in January? Did you just think, “Oh shoot!”? You're not alone, my friend. Today is for you if… If you're tired of each year flying by with nothing to show for it. If you desire to fulfill your God-given purpose but don't seem to be getting anywhere fast. If you're ready to stop repeating the same mistakes and start making progress on your dreams. #5 Sure-Fire Way to Stay Stuck – Never Look at Your Goals If you aim at nothing, you'll hit it every time. The same is true: if you write your goals and never look at them, you'll hit nothing every time. Goals are the stepping stones to our dreams. But if you set goals and never look at them, it ends up the same as if you never set the goal. It adds an extra layer of guilt or shame because you know what you should do but aren't doing it. Sure-Fire Way to Succeed – Evaluate Your Goals  Now, I'm not going into how to make goals in this episode. I covered that in Podcast Episode 90 - Set SMARTER goals to reach your dreams. I'll leave a link in the show notes. What we are going to focus on is evaluating the progress of your goals. Here are several steps on how to evaluate your goals: 1. Review Your Goals Ensure that they still align with your values and passions. 2. Assess Your Progress  Identify what you've accomplished and what's still pending, and evaluate what worked for you and what did not. 3. Determine if the Goals Are Still Relevant Assess whether your goals are still relevant to your life and if they still matter to you. We go through different seasons in life, and it's okay to pivot or drop goals altogether if it doesn't fit your life and purpose in a particular season. 4. Identify Potential Obstacles  Identifying any potential obstacles, such as personal or external factors that initially barred you from achieving your goals, can help you find creative ways to overcome them.  5. Adjust the Goals  Based on your assessment, make any necessary adjustments to your goals.  6. Create Actionable Steps  After making a few changes, create new action steps toward achieving your goals. 7. Stay Accountable  This'll help you to stay focused on achieving your goals. 8. Celebrate Your Achievements Along the Way Celebrate your small wins when you make progress towards your goals.  Regularly evaluating your goals will ensure you're on track and keep stepping toward your God-given purpose. “A goal is not about what you accomplish. It's about what you become.” ––Michael Hyatt You got this, and Father's got you! Thanks a bunch for listening!  Until Next Time, Live Fearlessly Free! Here is a framework to make sure you have goals you can truly run with: SMARTER Goal Framework by Michael Hyatt Specific: Specifically, identify the goal, so it's clear what you're trying to achieve. i.e., Write a book, start a podcast, declutter my home, etc. Measurable: Quantify your results so you can be sure you're on track. i.e., Write a book three days per week for 30 minutes. In this example, notice you can measure progress by days of the week and time spent on writing. Actionable: Start with an action verb instead of a "to be" verb. i.e., run, drink, quit, finish versus am, be, have. In our previous example, write the train the trainer manual three days a week for 60 minutes–write is the action word used. Risky: Risky goals should stretch and challenge you but shouldn't be unrealistic. Set yourself up for success instead of failure. i.e., Declutter my home in a day sets me up for failure. Decluttering a room in a day is risky. Time-Bound: Put a specific time frame with each commitment. i.e., four times per week, daily, monthly, etc. Exciting: The commitment must inspire you, or you're not likely to follow through. Internal motivation is more powerful than "have to" motivation. Your reason for this goal is what helps you get through the messy middle. Relevant: Your commitments will look different for different seasons of your life. i.e., a mom with young kids will have less discretionary time than someone who's an empty nester, doesn't have kids or is single. Once you create your goals, follow these steps to get those goals done: 1. Write down your goals somewhere you can see them regularly If they're shoved in a drawer, you'll forget about them; out of sight, out of mind. 2. Chunk down your goals into doable steps Break down your goals into daily small baby steps Each day do one small thing that moves you towards your goal. 3. Review your goals daily or weekly Again, out of sight, out of mind. See where you're at with your goal—Prep the next week with those small doable steps. You're moving towards your God-given purpose when you take those doable daily steps. Always give yourself grace. Fall down one day or two weeks? Pick yourself back up and keep moving forward. How do you get what you want? How do you achieve your dreams when they seem soooo big?! Have you ever made goals but never finished them? Yea, me too! Over the last two podcast episodes, you learned who you are and what you want. Now, today I'm talking about how to get what you want. Today is for you if you need help creating a plan to achieve your dreams. I'm talking to you if you struggle to make or keep goals. "I've never met a goal I couldn't ignore. That was me for years." Here are three ways to achieve your goals. Next episode, we'll actually create the goals. 1. Pray for guidance Ask Father for wisdom. Pray for which goals to do and which ones not to do. James 1:5 NASB But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. Proverbs 16:13 NASB Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established. We don't want just to achieve goals, but we want to aim for something that changes lives and us in the process. 2. Start Small Start with 1 to 3 goals max if you've struggled to make and keep goals. Goals are really baby steps to keep you on the path, so you end up where you planned for your life to go. 3. Discover and Remove the Blocks Seven years ago, I lost 40 pounds. I have tried that before but always failed. Why did I do it this time and couldn't do it all the other times I tried? What stopped me the other times? I had a block. I didn't realize that food equals family, and if I say no to food, I'm saying no to family. When I removed the block, I accomplished the goal. Blocks are wrong mindsets that we need to rewrite. What is really blocking you from achieving your goals? What's the real issue? Dig out and discover the block. Then remove it. Rewrite it. Do you think you're undisciplined? Rewrite it so that you just need accountability to get done what you want to do for yourself. Do you rebel against goals? Rewrite that goal, so you bake in options for yourself. Do you procrastinate? Rewrite that goal so that it doesn't have to be perfect. Don't forget to give yourself grace when you fall or don't do what you said you would do. So, what's one baby step you can start today that will bring you closer to your big picture? Tomorrow I'll talk about how to craft your goals with a framework, so you make your goals more effective. If you want more help on goals, here are two books that were amazingly helpful for me. 2020 has come to an end. Many of us are ready to turn the page and look forward to a new year of possibility and opportunity. The prospect of a fresh start motivates us to set resolutions, goals, and aspirations for the year ahead. But if you want 2021 to be the year you push past your setbacks and have the breakthroughs you desire, don't start by setting goals and making resolutions. Start by asking yourself questions. Asking questions may be more effective than any other technique when making the changes necessary to achieve goals. Questions are powerful, and failing to ask ourselves the right ones keeps us from moving forward. We stay locked into the same bad habits that hold us back over and over again. The right questions cause us to think differently and approach our problems from a new angle. As you examine your hopes and dreams for the new year, ask yourself these four questions: 1. Am I ready to make a change? 2. Where am I right now? 3. What stopped me last year? 4. Who's going to help me? Back in 2018, I started off the year with Michael Hyatt's Your Best Year Ever: A 5-Step Plan for Achieving Your Most Important Goals. The description talked about, "We all want to live a life that matters. We all want to reach our full potential. But too often we find ourselves overwhelmed by the day-to-day. Our big goals get pushed to the back burner--and then, more often than not, they get forgotten." That very much resonated with me at the time, and still does. And from what I know about my community, this is also very true, so I thought you'd not only be inspired by, but also be helped by today's quote from Michael Hyatt.  ______________ 1) If you think you need this one on your shelf, you can check it out here: https://amzn.to/2XQGfzK 2) To check out the current book pick for the Beyond the Book club, visit the website here: http://www.sarahlynnco.com/beyondthebook *this is my affiliate link that you'll buy me part of a cup of coffee when you buy :)

Have you felt stuck in setting goals?  Our caller, Taylor talks about the challenge of feeling stuck in writing her goals.  They can sometimes feel too big or not big enough.  How do you find the sweet spot to get unstuck and not just set goals, but tackle them with enthusiasm?  We’ll talk through some simple tips to get Taylor going and you too!   Here are some key take-away points: Having goals in your head is not enough!  Write them down – now they are a call to action. Think it.  Write it.  Say it.  Affirm it.  Believe it.  Do it.  Let go of your past so it does not inhibit you from moving confidently into your future Design your future by dreaming of what you want and then create S.M.A.R.T. goals S.M.A.R.T. stands for specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-based Get deeply connected to your WHY – what is the reason behind what you are doing? Manifestation starts with visualization – nothing is too big (lean into the excitement) Just do something.  Take one step.  Get an accountability partner that won’t let you off the hook. Don’t beat yourself up for not achieving everything.  Have grace with yourself.  It is ok to feel scared.  It is a good thing.  It’s a sign of growth.  Embrace it. Have both big (visionary) and small (daily and weekly) goals Surround yourself with motivated and committed people who can keep you encouraged Get comfortable with being uncomfortable.  YOU CAN DO IT!   References: The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy Your Best Year Ever: A 5-Step Plan for Achieving Your Most Important Goals by Michael Hyatt Start with Why by Simon Sinek The 10X Rule: The Only Difference Between Success and Failure by Grant Cardone Law of Attraction Planner   Follow us at www.instagram.com/blissfulfortitude.  Visit our website: https://blissfulfortitude.com/.  You can connect with us and ask us about our services at blissfulfortitude@gmail.com.    Leave us a message or question at 1-833-MYBLISS (1-833-692-5477).  Write us or call us and tell us one goal that you are working on.  How might we support you?   Please subscribe to our podcast and rate and review this episode!

All of us want to make positive changes in our lives. The new year brings with it the promise of a fresh start or a clean slate. Whether it's getting into shape, saving more money, learning a new skill, creating better habits, quitting bad habits, or spending more time with the people we love, each of us want to end the year better than where we started. If you're like most people, though, acting on these resolutions is tough. We get sidetracked and distracted. We experience setbacks. We lose motivation and the drive to achieve. And before you know it, you've put those New Year's Resolutions on the backburner… and it's only the second week of the year. Today, Pastor Danny shares seven steps to executing on your New Year's Resolutions and ensure you follow through on your desires for a better life. 1. Get clear on your goals. 2. Write them down. 3. Determine your motivation. 4. Give yourself a deadline. 5. Create a plan. 6. Take action each day. 7. Review daily. In our fast-paced and entertainment-saturated culture, it’s easy to let book-reading fall by the wayside. In fact, many studies show that after college, the average person only reads 3 more books for the rest of their life! And don’t be tempted to think that the reading of books is old-fashioned and no longer relevant. There is power in the written word. And whether you’re an entrepreneur, business person, or simply someone who wants to continue to grow, reading books is an effective way to continue your personal development.   “You will be the same person in five years as you are today except for the people you meet and the books you read.” — Charlie “Tremendous” Jones Click here to download or listen to this episode now. Tip of the Week Since developing Parkinson’s in 2011, I have been receiving deep-tissue massage therapy as part of my treatment. I started with once a month, then once a week, and these days I get 3 massages a week. Here’s what this has taught me: your body is the frame through which you see the world. If the frame is bent, twisted, or in pain… you will experience the world that way. Get over your hangups, and go get a massage from a reputable massage therapist. Try it at least once per week for a month or more and let me know the difference it makes in your life! Spiritual Foundations Pray Prayers of Proclamation. When you have a need, do you pray or do you plead? Do you begin your prayers with words like, “Please God, please! God, I beg You to have mercy!” Prayers that plead and beg imply that your heavenly Father is not willing to help you. Yet, He is far more gracious and willing to give to you than you are willing to ask, think or imagine. (Ephesians 3:20) He desires above all things that you prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers. (3 John 1:2) In fact, long before you have a need, God has already met that need. Long before you knew you needed a Savior, He sent His Son to be your Savior. This is your God! He is a good God. So when you beg Him for something, you are actually saying that He is reluctant to give and needs to be persuaded strongly before He will move. Yet, He is not like that. Jesus knew the heart of the Father. When He saw the woman bound with a spirit of infirmity, He did not pray, “Oh Father! She has been suffering for 18 long years! I beseech You, Father, have mercy on her. Please, please heal her!” No, when Jesus saw her, He immediately proclaimed, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity!” He spoke this way because He knew the heart of the Father. He knew that the Father wanted her delivered from her crippling condition. At the end of a church service, I don’t stand and pray, “Oh God, please bless Your people. Oh God, do keep them. Oh God, be ever so gracious to them!” Instead, I proclaim, “The Lord bless you. The Lord keep you. The Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you!” Beloved, when you pray, proclaim your healing, protection and provision because your Father’s heart overflows with love for you. And when you declare it, He sanctions it. When you declare it, He establishes it! Feature Presentation “9 Reasons You Need a Book-Reading Plan“ Here are 9 reasons you need a book-reading plan: Reading helps keep you current. Books can help keep you current on business trends and strategies. You can either spend thousands of dollars flying around the country going to seminars and masterminds or spend a few dollars on a book! Consider reading Michael Hyatt’s book, Your Best Year Ever – A 5-Step Plan for Achieving Your Most Important Goals. Provides material for your own writing and podcasting. Reading books offers you fresh information, strategies for presenting that information, and great stories to share with your readers. Read Chris Ducker’s book, The Rise of the Youpreneur. Reading books exercises your brain. Joseph Addison wrote, “Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.” Believe me, in this competitive environment, you don’t want a “flabby” brain!  I challenge you to read a book like, Miracles by Eric Metaxas. I guarantee that book will give your brain a workout.   Expands your worldview. Let’s face it. Most of us live and work within a fairly small bubble of relationships. Our market is defined by what and who we know. Reading can broaden our perspective. Consider reading, Blue Ocean Strategy: How to Create Uncontested Market Space and Make the Competition Irrelevant by W Chan Kim. Stimulates new ideas. Frequently, I’ll be reading a book and the content I’m reading launches me into a totally new idea. Reading does that! If you need some fresh ideas and new thinking for your business, read a book. Try reading, The 4-Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss. Increases your vocabulary and conversational skills. Whether you realize it or not, when you’re reading, your mind assimilates new words and phrases. These new modes of expression become part of your vocabulary and find their way into your conversation without your conscious effort. Read Perry Marshall’s book, Evolution 2.0. Makes you a better writer. When you read a book that’s well written, your own writing begins to take on the qualities that you admire in others. Here’s a book that focuses on writing skills, but also features writing at its best: On Writing Well by William Zinsser. Corrects and/or corroborates your thinking. Reading what others think about a topic can either correct our misconceptions or confirm what we’ve held to be true. A best-selling classic that will either challenge or confirm your beliefs is Lee Strobel’s The Case for a Creator. Enriches your life. So far, we’ve been talking primarily about growing our intellect and our business. But reading for pleasure offers many benefits as well. Reading a book before bedtime is a great way to wind down and relax. Recreational reading opens a whole world of history, intrigue, humor, adventure, and fantasy. Reading kicks the borders off your imagination. Patrick Rothfuss’s epic novel, The Name of the Wind, is sure to provide you with an enriching experience. Creating A Reading Plan Commit to read a book a month. Create a list of books that you want to read. Read on an e-device or paper. (Consider the option of highlighting and scribbling notes in the margins of a printed book.) Find a reading buddy. Listen to audiobooks. (The retention rate for listening to a book drops significantly over reading it.)
