Over time, they’ve become more like roommates and co-parents than a married couple. We called on our friend and dual licensed clinical psychologist and professional counselor, Dr. Michelle Mugge to help our caller with rekindling a deeper emotional connection and intimacy in her marriage. Episode highlights: Reconnecting intimately begins with the emotional connection before the physical connection Communication is the place to start in rekindling connection – set aside intentional time A weekly agreed upon time for uninterrupted communication for at least 30 minutes is ideal A weekly check-in could be as simple as discussing these questions: What went well this week? What did not go well this week? What do you need from me? What are you grateful for? Plan time away just for the two of you. Put effort into making dates special. Get glammed up! Ways to enhance a date: play sentimental music, look at old pictures, hold hands, play a game Communication does not always have to be heavy; it can be playful and fun Make each other as a couple a priority. Have you ever processed how you tend to deal with conflict and change?  Do you react with fight, flight, freeze, or flow?  Our caller Danielle inspired today’s episode with her experience and inquiry.  Resilience and peace are best achieved in a state of flow.  Let’s explore how we can achieve flow in a world where we’re constantly surrounded by the uncontrollable. Definitions: Fight – resistance and the desire to preserve the status quo Flight – avoidance so as not to face challenge or adversity Freeze – paralysis; not knowing how to react or respond Flow – openness and adaptation to the unexpected Episode highlights: No reaction is wrong.  It’s natural to feel all reactions of fight, flight, freeze, and flow. The desire to control and defensiveness can be easily sparked when resisting unwanted change Freezing can occur in times of overwhelm.  The caution is not to ignore the challenges you face. Solutions often are found in the gray area, somewhere between the best & worse case scenarios Start by asking yourself, what’s the outcome I want to achieve?  Then shift into possible options. The danger of flight is falling into a pattern of avoidance which manifests into bigger issues later Neutral thinking is a great way to maintain a calm, collected approach to the uncontrollable The ability of flow comes with maturity, intentionality, experience, and practice Flowing starts with reflection and directing your energy inward to what you can control Practices that may help with flow: prayer, exercise, meditation, and mindfulness Thoughts are things and thoughts can propel outcomes, so direct your thoughts accordingly   Ways to connect with us: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/blissfulfortitude/ Instagram: www.instagram.com/blissfulfortitude Website: https://blissfulfortitude.com/ Email: hello@blissfulfortitude.com Phone: 1-833-MYBLISS (1-833-692-5477)   References: Change Your Mind to Attract Love, Abundance and Wealth with Marisa Peer (podcast episode) It Takes What It Takes by Trevor Moawad (book) The Power of Your Subconscious Mind by Joseph Murphy (book) Send us a comment or question and let us know how we can support you.  Please subscribe to our podcast and rate and review this episode!

Our caller shares with us an inspirational story about how courage is contagious.  She gained courage as a result of seeing someone she admired being courageous.  Sometimes it just takes seeing others do something new or challenging to conjure up the courage to take your own action.  Let’s delve into the beauty of courage! Here are a few highlights from the episode: When you’re questioning a courageous action, ask yourself, what is the worst that could happen? Look to your circle, your kids, or those you admire for inspiration to spark courage within yourself Consider how your acts of courage could inspire others Dedicate time to one thing you want to be courageous at; stay committed and consistent Where you lack courage, you will gain regret Take the first step and remember to give yourself permission to pivot or change your mind   Ways to connect with us: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/blissfulfortitude/ Instagram: www.instagram.com/blissfulfortitude Website: https://blissfulfortitude.com/ Email: hello@blissfulfortitude.com Phone: 1-833-MYBLISS (1-833-692-5477)   References: The Last Dance – Michael Jordan ESPN Documentary The One Thing by Gary Keller & Jay Papasan   Send us a comment or question and let us know how we can support you.    Please subscribe to our podcast and rate and review this episode!

    Collaborating vs. Competing

Our caller, Stephanie asks us: “why is it so hard for women to lift each other up?”  We believe that women have a choice about whether they want to compete with one another or compliment and collaborate with each other.  In this episode, we discuss the dividends that are paid when we choose collaboration over competition. Here are a few highlights: When you are secure with who you are, you can confidently celebrate the successes of others Having an attitude of curiosity opens you up to learning from others vs. competing with them Adopting an abundance mindset is knowing that there is always room for everyone to succeed Collaboration is magical – you get inspired, you feel encouraged, and you become energized Givers gain!  When you give genuinely to others, you attract reciprocity into your life. Competition can be healthy when your intention is to have fun, grow, and stay motivated Be a SAVER – someone who supports, aligns, value adds, elevates, and rises with others Think about what you would want someone to say at your eulogy – be that person!
