In this episode, hosts Hymsuen Liu and Archie Collings dive deep into one of the most debated topics in fitness and nutrition: Is there such a thing as "too low" calories when aiming to get shredded? They explore whether there should be a distinction between calorie counts for achieving peak physique and maintaining overall health.Hymsuen and Archie take a closer look at the average calorie recommendations by the NHS, discussing how relevant these guidelines are and why they might not apply to everyone—especially those at the extreme ends of the spectrum. They address whether some people, particularly outliers, need a different approach to calorie management. The hosts also examine common mistakes people make when estimating their calorie intake, leading to discrepancies between actual and predicted results. They tackle the origins of the commonly cited "1200 calories for women and 1600 for men" rule, exploring where these numbers come from and whether they are truly applicable for everyone. Additionally, they delve into the impact of calorie restriction on metabolism, debunking myths and discussing the real effects of prolonged low-calorie diets and maintaining very low levels of body fat. Finally, Hymsuen and Archie share their personal experiences with extremely low-calorie diets, including the lowest calorie intakes they've tried and how those diets affected them physically and mentally.Tune in for an honest and informative discussion that will help you navigate the complexities of calorie management and its impact on both physique and health! If there any questions, future topics you want to cover, or want to reach out for coaching drop them below!Instagram - @gymwithhym @archiee13

I've never bought into just positive thinking, if you just think positive and think great things happen through just positivity, you're missing another piece to the puzzle. winners win through hard work. At the end of the day your effort and putting in hours and hours of work towards your craft in my opinion is a requirement. Nobody wins by working less and the concept working smarter, not harder is totally garbage delete this out of your framework of mindset. Do Both. What I mean by this is work harder and smarter. One thing I know about reading studying about the 1%ers is that, the Elon Musks, the Steve Jobs, the Ed Myletts, the Will Smiths is that they're incredibly smart guys when it comes to their profession but they also invest the most hours and that's why they beat the guys who were just naturally good at their job putting in mediocre amounts of work. Will Smith told a story on Charlie Roses Show. The story's goes like this: One Summer Will's dad tore down a wall connecting to his bakery, his dad told Will and his 9-year old brother to rebuild it, a job Will said would be impossible, it would take them years to complete. When Will told his Father that he couldn’t do it, that it was impossible, he stood in front of Will saying "Don't you ever tell me there is nothing you can't do." You see the point that his father was making is that you don't try to build a wall, you don't set your goal on building that wall, it might be the end result, but you tell yourself that I'm going to lay this brick as perfectly as brick can be laid, and you do that every single day, and soon you will have a wall. Results come from being consistent, and consistency comes from having deep, emotional reasons that get you hyped to wake up early in the morning. TI comes down to this: Why do you want to lose weight? Who are you doing it for? What actions can you take to ensure you keep that weight off for good? Our goals don’t get us up in the morning, our reasons for having those goals do. I wanna share with you a story. There was a young man, who at the age of thirty found out that his Uncle had a heart attack and at his funeral it was a very sad thing he was a father of a family, great family, and all of the children turned out to wonderfully but as a fifty year old man he passed away so he will not enjoy watching his children's children grow up, he won't enjoy the lovely house he worked so hard to obtain, he won't take on life's beauty with his wonderful wife, all of it was left behind. After the young man left the funeral, all of the sudden his reticular activating system in his brain starting bringing up ideas of "hey, Ed, maybe you should get your heart checked? When was the last time you went to the doctor? When he was flying back from the funeral, he noticed that on the tv screen on the plane that the Oprah Winfrey Show was being played, and on the show they started talking about this new scan for your heart that reveals what could be deadly plaque in the arteries, and Ed was thinking to himself, "you know what, that's an incredible new discovery" and because of the reticular activating system immediately grabbing attention to heart scans he decided it was time to go see a doctor and get his heart checked. They begin the visit and the doctor says "Hey so the ladies up front told me that you're kind of a successful young man" Ed says thank you very much. Doctor goes "you probably live in a big house" and Ed goes I live in a decent sized home sir, yes. The doctor hasn't bothered showing Ed the results, but he then says "do you have any kids?" Yes, I have two a little boy and my wife's pregnant with my daughter wh

Cooper Brunner Podcast

if done right, vegetarians may have lower cholesterol levels and blood pressure, well below the average rates of normal meat eaters. This study also concluded that they have a lower body mass index, lower cancer rates and lower risk of chronic diseases. But let's not get this confused, in no way is this the perfect diet, but it can for sure lead you down a healthy path of eating plus give you a completely new perspective on food. The whole point of why I wanted to take on this diet was to show you guys that you don't know what you don’t know, you could have amazing results, lose or she a ton of weight and feel absolutely amazing if you try out the vegetarian diet. But let's look at this from a different lense because science may say differently about the vegetarian diet. A vegetarian diet won't necessarily lead to weight loss. I came into the challenge weighing in at 197 on the dot and actually lost about one pound touching 196ish so nothing crazy. But one of the hardest things I had to deal with, and keep in mind I only went vegetarian for one week so I didn’t fully grasp or get the full experience of going vegetarian, but I had a tough time planning my meals and not going out to eat. When you go out to eat, it can be extremely difficult to find healthy vegetarian options, I found myself being stuck with vegan burgers or eating a simple salad that would leave me starving later at night. I definitely struggled with the cravings, and I struggled with keeping myself full. If I were to do this over again, I would probably take on a different strategy and take in smaller meals throughout the day I.E. drinking vega protein shakes with oats and fruit or eating more hummus with vegetables, peanut butter and celery and dried fruits like dried mangos (dried mangos are amazing). One question I want to answer and discuss because this a big one, how did I get my daily amount of protein? Was it hard to get my protein? For one thing, I actually didn't eat any eggs so I was pretty proud to say that I ate only plant-based protein other than cheese. Not going with cheese would've been extremely hard, I don’t think I could've done the diet without that. My bean and fake cheese burrito would probably be a little interesting Especially as someone who is physically active 5-6 times a week, I want to ensure that I am getting the right amount of protein to sustain my muscle, build muscle, and recover properly the was big thing for me was to understand and do my research about this diet and how to prep my meals. One issue that many vegetarians lack for the athlete are crucial amino acids like lysine, methionine, threonine, and tryptophan. The most important being lysine, which I did my research and found beans and legumes to be my main source of protein like pinto beans, kidney beans, lots of black beans. Other foods I ate that are known to have high protein are nuts like sunflower seeds, almonds, pecans, crushed walnuts and cashews, many other options but foods like nuts and seeds definitely need to be in the vegetarian diet. It was crazy making these meals, like I made a meal for dinner that asked for walnuts and cauliflower florets, I smashed these fellas in a blender and it created a substance similar to meat and actually tasted really, really good but it tripped me the heck out, I was like no way is not meat that is some mad scientist concoction. As a one-week veggie, here are some of the drawbacks I experienced. After coming off of a high protein or high meat diet, I knew that I would experience fatigue and that’s exactly what I felt for the first few days. I did a little digging in some clinic studies and this is completely normal if you aren't getting enough protein. What happens when you go pretty strict vegetarian after eating a meat heavy d
