The many hats we wear and the ones we can never truly take off. At the age of 11 I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. My world as I knew it and my interactions with food became a mathematical equation. In retrospect I would say this is when I began my "studies" in the health and fitness world. I navigated through my teenage years as a three sport athlete WITH type 1 diabetes. I attained my Bachelors degree in Psychology and Masters in Social Work with a focus on Eating Disorders and Body Image Disturbances while being highly involved in Student Leadership life and as President of a Dance Company WITH Type 1 Diabetes. It was at this point in my life that I recognized the importance of Physical Fitness on one's Mental Wellbeing and vice versa. It was during this time that I also, moved from NY to Vermont, got married and began competing in the OCB and NPC Bikini divisions. I competed for roughly 6 years on and off, accomplished my IFPA Pro Bikini Card in 2013 and won the Title of 2014 IFPA Pro Bikini World Champion, I was able to step on the Arnold Classic stage and later again on another World Championship Stage placing within the top 5- WITH Type 1 Diabetes. On November 24, 2016 my husband and I were blessed with the arrival of our healthy and beautiful daughter Ravenna- another pivotal, life changing moment, and another hat to join WITH Type 1 Diabetes, tightly fitted and glued to my head. Over the past 2 years my husband and I have made many transitions in our lives, wearing different hats, putting some aside and trying new one ons. We recently made a Big Move to Alabama for work opportunities. So who am I? I am a proud wife, a blessed mommy, a supportive coach and personal trainer, an entrepreneur, a social worker, a type 1 diabetic and a woman who in all her complexities and imperfections has found peace in the tight fitted hats I GET to wear.

Wife, doggie mom and physique competitor and Executive Recruiter. Lauren was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. She has struggled with her body image most of her life. As an overweight teen, Lauren never expected to develop a passion for fitness and nutrition, but found herself hooked after taking a kickboxing class her freshman year of college at the University of Pittsburgh. Sadly, like many young women, she soon became obsessed with her body and her relationship with exercise and nutrition took a dangerous and unhealthy turn, leading to an eating disorder. After fighting hard to combat the disorder, she got herself back on track in her mid-twenties. However, her passion for fitness and nutrition never wavered. In 2013, Lauren hired a personal trainer to help her to maximize her results in the gym. A year later, she found herself on stage, competing in her 1st physique competition. Since 2014, Lauren has competed in a half dozen natural physique competitions as a figure competitor. She has placed in the top 5 in her 3 most recent shows. This summer, Lauren’s coach convinced her to enter a fitness modeling competition through Muscle and Fitness Hers Magazine. Lauren was selected to compete for the coveted title of the magazine’s Ms. Fitness and Health 2018. To her surprise, she made it through 4 rounds of the competition placing 2ndamongst 50 other fitness models in the Northeast.
Royce L. Claflin, owner of Phoenix Fitness in Dover, NH and creator of Barbell Athlete Ranking system (B.A.R.S.) was formally educated in business management. His obsession with strength training lead him to educate himself immensely in health and exercise. Furthering his education through numerous certifications and seminars and keeping up on the latest research and trends is vital to Royce and his coaching. He has a very particular set of skills you will not find anywhere else; Royce has experienced the worst cases injuries (ironically, outside of the weight room); these injuries include a spinal fusion, hip surgery and shoulder reconstruction. This experience has provided invaluable skills for developing his athletes and their education. Having extensive experience in different styles of strength training, from Bodybuilding, to standard linear progression, to the cube method, to Shieko, to Conjugate he has the ability to take clients from a novice lifter to a competitive athlete to a professional. What makes his story interesting, is how far He has came in his journey. His odds of being a competitive power lifter were certainly against him, graduating from from High School at 120lbs, 5’8”, 6’3” wingspan with a 80lb max bench press, pretty much drove him to exceed expectations and persevere through shortfalls and struggles . His lifting partners were piling chains and bands on the bars a long time ago before it was popular, and most of the time it was because of Royce’s crazy ideas leading the workouts. Royce built his bench press up to 365 lbs in 10 years, and again a second time after having both shoulders repaired. He deadlifted triple bodyweight with a dislocated spine, and squatted 4x/week under the same condition.

My name is Courtney and I live in a small town outside of Buffalo, NY. I went to the University at Buffalo, where I studied Biology. Once I graduated, I went a completely different route and started working for a gym. Prior to working at LA Fitness, I didn’t have a lot of experience strength training. I played sports when I was younger and ran after high school, completing a handful short races, half marathons and one full marathon. While working at the gym I fell in love with strength training and eventually found powerlifting. After a few months of training, I competed in my first meet where I took first place and qualified for Raw Nationals. Although it’s fun to compete against others in competition, what I really enjoy about powerlifting is competing with myself.

I’m Ryann Healy, I’m 30 years old and I’m from Manchester, NH. I work as a funeral director at my family’s funeral home, as well as operate my spray tan business Golden Standard Spray Tans. I competed in my first bikini show in April of 2014 and recently earned my pro card in women’s bodybuilding with the WNBF. I have been lifting weights since I was 16 but never really knew anything about bodybuilding but always knew I wanted to compete or at least look like that. I once read an article in muscle and fitness when I was younger and it said “if you are short don’t bother competing you will never be able to.” At 5’2” I assumed well that’s that. After a break up, I suddenly decided that YES, I am going to do a show! I started training with Brian Azarian from Rock Hard Fitness in Bedford NH and did my own diet.
The long awaited show is here! I have done shows with competitors, coaches, tanning companies, makeup artists etc. Now it is time to bring on the Owner of the WNBF, Nancy Andrews and judges Vic Cuzzupe and Kristin Fonseca to give us an inside look of a natural bodybuilding show through the eyes of the judges. Topics of conversation will be posted in a few weeks!

Bri was on Fit Talk back in May and both of us qualified and competed in the 2016 USAPL Raw Nationals down in Atlanta in October. What better time to bring her back on and check in on her experience at Nationals and see what she is up to next. I am a professional cosmologist and own my own business doing hair and make up. My favorite thing to do when I'm not working is to lift heavy weights with my strong friends. Josh began competing in 2006. I remember being so excited for him! And still to this day, I still get as excited as I did his very first show. I get as excited (maybe even more) as he does. I enjoy helping him stay focused and helping him prep for each competition. Josh has competed in over 20 shows over the past 10 years and I have never missed a show! Josh has accomplished 11 class wins, including 3 overall wins. In 2014 Josh earned his pro card in Men's Physique, and in 2016, he earned his pro card in Bodybuilding. Meshack has been competing since he was 20 starting working out with his brother at age 16. He has competed in over 35 shows here is a list of some of them. (1st) 2013 MUSCLEMANIA UNIVERSE (2ND) 2014 NPC WINGS OF STRENGTH (1st and overall winner) 2014 PNBA NATURAL UNIVERSE (1st) 2015 PNBA NORTH AMERICA (1st) 2015 PNBA NATURAL UNIVERSE 2015 IFPA KANSAS CITY INTERN (2ND) 2015 PNBA NATURAL OLYMPIA (4TH) 2016 IFPA NORTH AMERICA (3RD) 2016 DFAC WINDY CITY NATURALS (1st) 2016 PNBA NATURAL UNIVERSE. (3 years in a row 1st). I would say I am definitely his number one fan! I prep all his meals, I get to choose trunk color(which is important) lol and I enjoy all I do for him. I wouldn't have it any other way! Ironically we met in the gym, and yet it seems appropriate to say we had instant friendship connection! Obviously grew to be more. We been married now a little over a year, and together for 2. He is such a humble person yet when he wins he is grateful to none other that God first, then me. He has big goals ahead and is taking off a bit to have some wife time, travel to Kenya and achieve some personal goals he has in life for the next year. I am proud to be his wife and yet everyday thank God for such a blessing. He makes me proud no matter the outcome of a show! I see his everyday commitment to the sport! And love sharing every moment with him.

Shiloh began the CrossFit kids program at 7 years old in March of 2013 at CrossFit Free in Salem, NH, that summer he attended the Northeast Regionals and has been hooked ever since. In 2014 Shiloh began Olympic style weightlifting, with Coach Brandon Petersen, after watching the LiveFree Lifting team compete at The Atlantic States Championships. Since then he has competed on the Local and National level and earned three silver medals at the 2015 USAW Youth National Championships in Minneapolis, MN. At the 2015 East Regionals in Hartford, CT Shiloh met the people from Kettlebells4kids and was impacted by the fact that the average age of a homeless PERSON in America is 9 years old, at the time he was 9 and couldn’t fathom how that was possible. He wanted to be involved in solving this problem so we contacted Amie Turrill Owens the founder and he began helping raise funds and awareness. Last year Shiloh travelled to CrossFit Boxes in MA, NH, ME, CT & RI talking about Kettlebells4kids and getting boxes and athletes, like Spencer Hendel and Austin Malleolo to get involved. He also did several corporate presentations and other fundraising activities rasing $6,547.00. This year Shiloh has travelled outside of New England to CrossFit Boxes in TN & GA meeting with Rich Froning and Kurt Mullican. Also this year using the power of social media he has put together Team Dream Big, a group of 11 kids in CA, OR, IA, SC, PA, MA, CT, LA & FL. The goal of Team Dream Big is to spread awareness of the challenges facing America’s 2.5 million homeless kids and to raise funds to support Kettlebells4kids efforts in those states.Starting in April Shiloh will be competing in the Next Generation Games a series of eight kids CrossFit competitions in CT, MA & NJ. Last year in the inaugural year of the NGG Shiloh won first place overall and will be set to defend his title this year. http://www.kettlebells4kids.org/

FitVine Wine was born when friends and athletes, Zach, Tom and Mark discovered that they could make amazing wines that also fit their healthy lifestyle. Our wines have no residual sugar, higher concentrations of antioxidants and less sulfites. We double filter the wine and cold stabilize it to remove impurities. We perform an extended fermentation of 10-14 days to optimize pH levels so there's no added sugar no additives and less sulfites needed. Too many wines today are loaded with unnecessary sugars, additives, and impurities. Our goal is to bring high quality wines to the active community that they can trust!
